IT’S COME TO THIS: Woke doc refused to publish $10 million trans kids study that showed puberty blockers didn’t help mental health.

A prominent doctor and trans rights advocate admitted she deliberately withheld publication of a $10 million taxpayer-funded study on the effect of puberty blockers on American children — after finding no evidence that they improve patients’ mental health.

Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy told the New York Times that she believes the study would be “weaponized” by critics of transgender care for kids, and that the research could one day be used in court to argue “we shouldn’t use blockers.”

Critics — including one of Olson-Kennedy’s fellow researchers on the study — said the decision flies in the face of research standards and deprives the public of “really important” science in a field where Americans remain firmly divided.

Not surprisingly, J.K. Rowling pounced and/or seized at Olson-Kennedy’s hypocrisy:

HOW IT STARTED: It’s official: San Francisco’s office vacancy rate just set a record.

The office-vacancy rate in and around downtown San Francisco continued to creep upward to a new record high in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to a report from CBRE.

The increase, though expected, came despite the highest level of leasing activity since the second quarter of 2022 and pushed The City’s core business areas into new territory as the vacancy rate hit 35.6%, up 1.6 percentage points from the prior quarter, the commercial real-estate firm reported.

Meanwhile, the number of office-using workers was down slightly from the previous quarter to 345,200 from 346,500.

“Looking ahead, the vacancy rate will continue to inch upward but will likely peak in late 2024,” CBRE’s researchers predicted.

San Francisco has been particularly hard-hit, but it is not alone, with cities across the country also harboring expanses of empty office space as employers have shed space and workers have not returned to offices in the same numbers as before the COVID-19 pandemic because of the rise of remote work.

Moody’s Analytics issued a statement Monday saying much of commercial real estate was “stuck in limbo” despite positive signs in the broader economy, and the national office vacancy rate had risen to a record-breaking 19.6%, higher than the 19.3% peaks hit in 1986 and 1991.

San Francisco’s glut of office space is leading building owners to lower rents, with the average asking rate for directly leased space dropping 3.4% in the quarter and 8.7% for the year. That brought the decrease in average asking rate to 21.6% from its peak in early 2020.

How it’s going: City Hall Unveils Latest Plans to Redevelop Candlestick Point, 11 Years After 49ers Left.

More than a decade after the 49ers left Candlestick Park, the city has unveiled new plans for Candlestick Point, with 7,200 new homes, but it seems questionable whether there will be much call for all of the office space in this plan.

Your San Francisco 49ers played their last game at Candlestick Park on December 23, 2013. Eight months later, the last event that ever happened there was a Paul McCartney concert where he played “Live and Let Die.” But San Francisco lived and let Candlestick Point die, despite a grand 2016 plan for a retail, performance, and residential project that never got off the ground.

“Right now what we have in the absence of Candlestick stadium, which has been torn down for years, is a big gaping hole in the middle of a community,” the district’s supervisor Shamann Walton said at a Tuesday Board of Supervisors meeting. “It is nothing but a pile of dirt. That has allowed for increased encampments and other nuisances to continue to plague the area.”

The board was talking Candlestick, because they were considering new redevelopment plans for Candlestick Point, as KPIX reports. As seen above, the plan is intertwined with the highly beleaguered and possibly contaminated Hunters Point Shipyard redevelopment project, moving as two plans with one master developer. But the Shipyard is project is delayed by some sticky legal problems over faked soil samples.

So that means the Candlestick Point project is likely moving forward first.

But given San Francisco’s dire housing shortage, and glut of unwanted office space, do we really need that two million square feet of office and R&D? We already got more than we can handle! Regardless, OCII staff said there would also be “entertainment uses” in there, but did not elaborate on what those would be.

I’m sure the redeveloped Candle Stick Park office towers will be easily and quickly reached via California’s legendarily successful high-speed rail connections.

GEORGE GASCON’S SWAN SONG: Menendez brothers one step closer to freedom as Los Angeles district attorney holds bombshell press conference.

The Menendez brothers are one step closer to freedom after Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon recommended they be resentenced for killing their parents.

Gascon held a press conference on Thursday afternoon where he recommended Erik and Lyle receive a new sentence – 35 years after they murdered their parents Kitty and Jose inside their Beverly Hills mansion.

His recommendation is that they be eligible for parole immediately.

It will be up to a court to ultimately determine the final sentence for the brothers.

‘I believe they have paid their debt to society… and the system provides a vehicle for their case to be reviewed by a court of law,’ Gascon said.

The announcement comes on the back of mounting community pressure to reconsider the life sentences without parole Erik and Lyle received at their 1996 trial.

The brothers have never denied killing their parents, but have long claimed they were driven to do so after suffering years of sexual and physical abuse at the hands of their businessman father.

The public was unconvinced by their claims in the 1980s, believing instead they were ruthless monsters.

But in recent months, a TikTok movement of more sympathetic fans and a duo of Netflix shows has won them favor.

Now armed with Gascon’s recommendation, the Menendez case will return to court, where a judge will ultimately decide their fate.

* * * * * * * *
Gascon’s decision has been widely welcomed, but critics suggested he is using the Menendez case to win favor ahead of his reelection bid this November.

He is seeking re-election on a platform of sentencing reform, and is currently trailing his opponent, former US Assistant Attorney General Nathan Hochman.

Asked about the ‘politics’ of his decision on Thursday, Gascon insisted the optics played no part in his final decision.

Or, perhaps, they did: Progressive Los Angeles DA George Gascón in 30-Point Hole to Moderate Challenger, Poll Finds.

CHANGE: Red Faced Justin Trudeau Declares Canada in Crisis and Immigration Must be Slowed.

Oh, Canada. You massively hypocritical windbag neighbors to the North. Remember, when they said America was racist for wanting to slow down immigration? Guess what Justin Trudeau said today.

So, it seems like Justin is saying a large influx of immigrants has negatively effected Canadian society? That sounds like what he is saying.

Don’t let me down, Florida:

BEN DOMENECH: Welcome to Word Salad City — the vibes are running on fumes.

Welcome to Thunderdome, or as David Axelrod calls it, Word Salad City. Kamala Harris’s closing argument played out in a CNN town hall last night, and it wasn’t much of an argument at all. On question after question, Harris reverted to talking points that often had little or nothing to do with the query posed to her. On the border? No answer on why the administration took so long to act. On taxpayer funded benefits for illegal migrants? I was a prosecutor. On a border wall? It’s a dumb idea that I now say is a good idea.* On taxes? It’s a very complicated situation. On food inflation? Greedy price gouging grocers. On her weaknesses? They’re actually strengths. On any mistakes she’s made? She’s very well versed on issues. On the one single legislative priority she’ll have as president? Here’s a list to rival the Cheesecake Factory. On the filibuster? Apparently it’s in the House now, and we need to get rid of it to have Roe.

Other than that, everything went off swimmingly.

So here’s what we’ve got: a candidate who really does seem to be incapable of finding her way into bettering her closing message outside of abortion abortion abortion and Trump being Orange Hitler.

This is really all they can come up with? It’s a decidedly joyless way to finish this race, and it has seeped into the minds of Democrats, frustrating their voters as they wish she’d come up with something, anything, to fire back at a Trump-Vance ticket that has settled into a combination of McDonald’s-style showmanship and savage media bashing that is comfortably in their wheelhouse. The late breaking anti-Trump stories aren’t making a dent, and the late night hosts can only do so much covering for her. As Mark Halperin has been saying recently: It’s no longer even a contest between which candidate is having more fun on the trail. And it’s not hard to see why:

* Ace of Spades notes that “The Biden-Harris Administration was so determined that the wall should never be built that they sold off extremely expensive steel purchased by Trump for the wall for pennies to make sure that it could never be used to build a wall:”

The Biden administration is quietly auctioning off millions of dollars’ worth of unused parts from former President Trump’s border wall for peanuts — in an apparent end-run around pending legislation in Congress.

Since April, GovPlanet, an online auction house specializing in military surplus, has sold 81 lots of steel “square structural tubes” — intended for use as vertical bollards in the border barrier’s 30-foot-tall panels — hauling in about $2 million.

On Tuesday, GovPlanet netted $154,200 for 729 of the 28-foot-tall hollow beams, sold in five separate lots for an average $212 apiece.

Thirteen more lots are set to be auctioned on Aug. 23 and Aug. 30.

But just last month, as part of its annual defense appropriations package, the Democrat-led Senate passed a Republican-sponsored bill aimed at forcing Biden to stem the worsening migrant crisis at the US-Mexico border by extending the wall.

Up to $300 million worth of taxpayer-funded wall components have been left to rust since Biden came to office, Republicans have said.

* * * * * * * * *

And while the lot listings scrupulously avoid identifying the tubes’ original purpose, viewers of the company’s Instagram page weren’t fooled.

“Good for building a wall,” a user called honest_jake wrote Aug. 3 under a GovPlanet Instagram post touting the sale of “industrial steel tubing” — an entry that was deleted from the social media site Friday.

“Why don’t you put that up instead of selling it,” added Brian Prewitt. “This is why tax payers are just about done paying taxes.”

More from Jeffrey Blehar: Harris Finally Crashes and Burns on CNN.

But in all honesty I don’t particularly care about what Dana Bash thinks, save as a media barometer. Former Obama grand strategist David Axelrod, on the other hand, is a legitimately intelligent observer of politics and was perhaps the most devastating of all in his analysis, precisely because Axelrod still has the bones of an old-school Chicago journalist and therefore cannot bring himself to openly insult people’s intelligence despite his obviously close associations with Obama and Democratic politics. (“It was a mixed night,” he euphemistically summarized.) His review is worth both reading and watching:

When she doesn’t want to answer a question, her habit is to kind of go to word-salad city, and she did that on a couple of answers; one was on Israel, Anderson asked a direct question, “Would you be stronger on Israel than Trump?” And there was a seven-minute answer, but none of it related to the question he was asking. And so, you know, on certain questions like that, on immigration, I thought she missed an opportunity, because she would acknowledge no concerns about any of the administration’s policies. And that’s a mistake. Sometimes you have to concede things, and she didn’t concede much. But I’ll tell you something, John King mentioned Bill Clinton; no one’s going to be Bill Clinton, but you do want to relate to the people in front of you, she didn’t do a lot of that. She didn’t ask them questions, she didn’t address them particularly, she was giving set pieces too much.

Partisanship inevitably warps perceptions, so I consider it a valuable data point that Axelrod — whose politics couldn’t differ more from my own — saw the exact same thing that I saw. (He was far more polite and circumspect about it, naturally.) In a world where you should always strive to calibrate your own biases against reality, that’s a solid indication that Harris truly failed last night. Her friends could only bring themselves, out of charity, to characterize it as a missed opportunity.

When you’re a Democrat who’s losing your mouthpieces at house organ CNN in late October, you’ve got problems. (The cockiness, eschew it, etc.) Or as America’s Newspaper of Record notes: Frustrated Democrats To Consider Letting Voters Pick The Presidential Candidate Next Time.

DISPATCHES FROM OBAMA’S THIRD TERM: Biden-Harris Admin Promotes Pentagon Employee Tied to Iranian Influence Network.

The Biden-Harris administration has promoted the senior Pentagon employee who was outed as a member of an Iranian government-run influence operation, Politico reported.

Ariane Tabatabai is now a deputy assistant secretary of defense within Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s office, where she will lead its force education and training division. Tabatabai, according to Politico, was offered the promotion last month. She previously served as chief of staff for the assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict.

Tabatabai became a public commodity after a 2023 Semafor report outed her as a member of an Iranian government propaganda group known as the Iran Experts Initiative. The affiliation saw Tabatabai report back to Iran’s foreign ministry and communicate with senior officials in the hardline regime.

Tabatabai’s promotion comes at a curious time for the Biden-Harris administration. Over the weekend, classified U.S. intelligence on Israel’s military preparations for a strike on Iran leaked in a “deadly serious breach,” which the administration is investigating. While the leaker has not been publicly identified, the situation has raised concerns about a host of Biden-Harris administration officials, including Tabatabai, who want to increase diplomacy with Iran at the cost of the historically close U.S. alliance with Israel.

Tabatabai was a regular contributor to Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, and (unexpectedly!) the Atlantic, during President Trump’s (first?) term in office.

JEFF DUNETZ: Kamala Says Trump’s Like Hitler. Is He? Or Is Kamala An Idiot?

Yesterday, V.P. Harris compared President Trump to Hitler,  “Donald Trump is out for unchecked power. He wants a military like Adolf Hitler had, who will be loyal to him, not our Constitution. He is unhinged, unstable, and given a second term, there would be no one to stop him from pursuing his worst impulses.”

The V.P.’s comment comparing Trump to Hitler indicates she doesn’t care about minimizing the horrors of the Holocaust or she is an imbecile incapable of understanding.

Her comments were based on a story in the leftist magazine The Atlantic reporting that Trump’s former chief of staff, Gen. John Kelly, called Trump a “fascist” and recalled his admiration for Nazi generals. Kelly also raised concerns about Trump’s recent threats to use the military against “the enemy from within.”

DON’T GET COCKY: New WSJ Poll: Trump Takes Lead Nationally.

Former President Donald Trump has taken a narrow lead over Vice President Kamala Harris with less than two weeks until election day, according to a Wall Street Journal poll published Thursday.

Trump has pulled out in front with a 47-45 lead, a change from the Journal’s polling in August, which had Kamala ahead by two percentage points. The two percentage points are within the poll’s margin of error.

Harris’s favorability and job performance numbers have dropped since August while Trump’s job performance numbers has risen. In August, half of voters viewed her favorably. Now, as of late October, 45 percent view her favorably compared to 53 who view her unfavorably, according to the poll.

Harris is also seeing her worst job performance ratings as vice president since WSJ started asking voters about her performance. Fifty-four percent of voters disapprove of her performance compared to 42 percent who approve.

AMERICA’S NEWSPAPER OF RECORD: Tulsi Gabbard Finally Realizes She’s Far Too Attractive To Be A Democrat.

Attractiveness experts agreed that Gabbard no longer had a place among the “sea of androgynous bags” that make up the Democrat Party. “We’re so glad she finally realizes how gorgeous she is,” said attractiveness expert Bubbs Bronson from Fort Wayne, Indiana. “Easy on the eyes, that’s for sure!”

Gabbard is currently ranked as 43rd best-looking member of the GOP, 21 spots below Thomas Massie, and far from attractive enough to displace someone at the top of the food chain like Ted Cruz. However, sources at Fox News say that she’s more than attractive enough to get a spot at their outlet whenever she retires from politics.

Heh, indeed.™

DANIEL GREENFIELD: Every Republican is Hitler.

Mayor Jack Shelley of San Francisco claimed that Goldwater strategists got all their ideas from Mein Kampf.

FDR accused Republican candidate Wendell Willkie of using “Hitler tactics” by repeating his slogans frequently.

In the Iran-Contra trial, Oliver North was accused of “following Adolf Hitler’s official strategy”. What did one have to do with the other? Nothing. But this sort of lazy accusation had become typical and routine. William Shirer, who had also compared Nixon’s bombing of Hanoi to the Holocaust and called Nixon an “apt pupil” of Hitler (Pentagon spokesman Jerry Friedheim was Goebbels), compared Reagan to Hitler for intervening in Grenada. Then Shirer compared Bush I to Hitler for trying to outlaw flag burning.

By the Reagan years, the left had achieved a banality of Hitler analogies. Everything Reagan did was just like Hitler. All of Reagan’s associates were just like Hitler. It was Hitlers all the way down.

Exit quote: “Everyone, to leftists, is Hitler except the Islamic terrorists allied with Hitler who are trying to kill Jews today.”

To today’s leftists those Jews are also Hitler, of course: This year’s Harvard commencement speaker compared Israel to Nazi Germany.

QUESTION ASKED: General Kelly, If You ‘Knew’ Trump Admired Hitler Why Didn’t You Resign?

General John Kelly worked for Donald Trump for nearly two years. He ran the Department of Homeland Security and soon after became the White House Chief of Staff–a job he did for a year and a half.

During that time, tensions between the general and Trump escalated, and Trump finally forced him out. Technically, he was not “fired,” but for all intents and purposes, he was. Few people actually get “fired” in politics; they “spend more time with their family.”

It has been nearly six years since Trump and Kelly worked together, and during that time, both men have been highly critical of each other. Kelly has also been the source of some of the more scurrilous attacks on the former president. Trump has called Kelly dumb, which seems unlikely but very Trump, and Kelly has said a lot of very nasty things about Trump’s attitude toward the military.

If Kelly had resigned immediately, and gone to the press, he would have become an instant rock star, appearing in wall-to-wall TV coverage of his bombshell accusation. Instead, it becomes one of what will likely be lots of October surprises for the next two weeks.

So what does Trump think of the accusation? If only someone could ask him:

GRAY LADY DOWN: Meet the New York Times Source Who Claims Kamala Harris’s Late Mother Told Her That Her Daughter Worked at McDonald’s. She’s a Harris Campaign Surrogate Who’s Visited the White House.

A New York Times report on Sunday that equated skepticism about Vice President Kamala Harris’s claim to have worked at McDonald’s with birtherism was based in large part on a source—a friend of Harris’s—who said that Harris’s late mother told her about the job.

“Donald Trump has claimed without evidence that Ms. Harris never worked at the fast-food chain,” the paper said. “Her campaign and a friend say she did.”

Meet Wanda Kagan, Harris’s high school classmate and longtime girlfriend, whom the Times described as “a close friend of Ms. Harris’s when they attended high school together in Montreal.” Kagan, per the Times, “said that Ms. Harris’s mother, who died in 2009, had told Ms. Kagan about the summer job years ago.”

What the Times did not tell its readers is that Kagan is a full-throated Harris supporter who has appeared alongside the vice president at several campaign events. She also served as a surrogate for her old friend on television during the Democratic National Convention.

“It’s an emotional and chilling ride, and I’m just overwhelmed with happiness for my friend, and I’m happy to be alive to be able to witness her now fighting for the people of America,” Kagan told MSNBC during the Democratic convention in August.

Kagan is the first living person to step forward in the seven weeks since a Free Beacon investigation first raised doubts about Harris’s claim to say that Harris worked at McDonald’s. Kagan’s claim, that she heard about McDonald’s from Harris’s mother, cannot be verified because Harris’s mother is dead. To date, the Harris campaign itself has not produced a single person with firsthand knowledge of Harris’s McDonald’s job, other than Harris herself.

Hey, you know has gone on the record with a story that’s damning to the Harris campaign?

But then, to get back to the Times, as “As Byron York wrote on September 24th of 2008, “Today is a red-letter day for the New York Times. For the first time, the paper has reported in its news section that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright once uttered the phrase ‘God damn America.’” Flashforward to the middle of 2021:

And then to the next year: Almost Two Years after 2020 Election, the New York Times Discovers Hunter Biden Laptop and Corruption Investigations Are Real.

Clearly, this is a paper that takes its story vetting seriously. Or perhaps there’s another reason why its slow-walks news that’s damning to the DNC. Just perhaps.

TOOK THEM THAT LONG, HUH? Report: Democrat Donors Aware of Biden’s ‘Frighteningly Awful’ Cognitive Issues As Early as June 2023.

Author and Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward’s word is often considered sacrosanct in leftist/media circles. But he’s thrown them for a bit of a loop in a new book called “War,” released October 15th, which gives fresh insight into what some Democrat movers and shakers knew about Biden’s cognitive issues and when they knew it.

In the book, Woodward quotes some donors on and off the record talking about how Biden looked and sounded “frighteningly awful” when they saw him, with others comparing him to “your 87-year-old senile grandfather” who complimented women’s eyes as he walked around the room:

The first fundraiser hosted by Kevin Scott, the chief technology officer of Microsoft, at his home in Los Gatos on June 19 [2023], was attended by 38 guests, including some of the most serious Democratic donors in [Silicon Valley]. The event raised $2.7 million for Biden’s re-election fund. Guests, however, said that Biden was “frighteningly awful.” It was “like your 87-year-old senile grandfather” wandering around the room, saying to women guests, “your eyes are so beautiful.”

[…]

And after a small “meet the president” fundraiser attended by about 20 people at the home of philanthroposts Susie and Michael Gelman in Chevy Chase, Maryland, on June 27, 2023, guests described their interactions with Biden as “painful.”

“He never completed a sentence ” said Bill Reichblum , cofounder and president of Liberties Journal Foundation, who attended with his wife and father-in-law, a former U.S. ambassador to Romania. “He would start to talk about something, jump somewhere else. He told the same story three times in exactly the same way and it meandered so much. … It was striking.

For anyone not invested in keeping Joe’s mortal remains propped up, his decline was visible years earlier (and like Bill Clinton’s peccadilloes in the 1990s, the DNC-MSM all knew about Biden’s decline as early as 2019, but chose not to report it.)

I ran my first “Trunalimunumaprzure!” headline near the end of the 2020 election. Prior to that, for years, my recurring headline for Joe’s innumerable gaffes was “Super Gaffe-O-Matic ’76,” a takeoff on Dan Akroyd’s classic Saturday Night Live TV commercial parody. But it was obvious by the 2020 election cycle that the pilot light was beginning to dim on Biden, which is why I retired that headline, with my first reference to the T-word on October 31st, 2020, in reference to this infamous moment, in which brain, mouth and teleprompter reading skills all failed miserably for Biden.

And now we’re in the Schrodinger’s President phase of the Weimar Republic:

Flashbacks:

Documented: Biden’s memory loss dates to 2015, 25th Amendment territory.

The ‘cabal’ that bragged of foisting Joe Biden on us must answer for his failed presidency.

VDH: A Media Beyond Caricature.

CBS’s iconic 60 Minutes has had plenty of scandals and embarrassments in its long 57-year history, most notably the fake-but-accurate Dan Rather mess. Yet never has it found itself in greater disrepute than in 2024.

Donald Trump, for good reason, recently declined to join 60 Minutes for its traditional election-year in-depth interviews of the two presidential candidates. Why?

Last time he consented in 2020, anchor and interviewer Leslie Stahl attacked Trump’s accurate assertion that the Hunter Biden laptop (then in the possession of the FBI) was authentic—and authentically damning to Joe Biden’s presidential candidacy.

Stahl falsely claimed the laptop “can’t be verified.” She further incorrectly asserted, “So this story about Hunter and his laptop, some repair shop found it; the source is Steve Bannon and Rudy Giuliani.” The New York Post, in fact, reported the story. The FBI did not deny it.

Yet old Twitter and Facebook, under collaborating FBI tutelage and pressure, suppressed dissemination of the truth. Joe Biden’s then-advisor and now Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in conjunction with former interim CIA Director Michael Morrel, helped round up “51 former intelligence authorities” (among them Leon Panetta and both John Brennan and James Clapper, who had admitted previously of lying under oath to Congress) to claim falsely that the laptop had all the hallmarks of a Russian information gambit to warp the election.

Joe Biden used the “expert” consensus to further lie in the last Biden-Trump debate that the laptop was cooked up by the Russians. And neither CBS, the “intelligence authorities,” nor any of the Bidens have ever since apologized.

More recently, CBS got caught selectively editing the 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, cutting and pasting an incoherent Harris response to lessen her embarrassing word salad. And in a subsequent interview with House Speaker Mike Johnson, the network once again edited and pruned his answers, but in contrast, on this occasion, to make him seem far less persuasive.

In yet another current CBS interview with author Ta-Nehisi Coates, network host Tony Dokoupil honestly questioned Coates about his new, one-sided, anti-Israeli book The Message. The result was that the left-wing icon Coates was almost immediately revealed to be abjectly ignorant of the Middle East, unapologetically biased, and completely uninterested in any viewpoint other than his own partisan prejudices.

Yet what followed proved yet another network embarrassment. An internal CBS division with the eerie Orwellian title of “CBS News Race and Culture Unit” attacked Dokoupil for not providing “context” for Coates’s self-condemnatory and embarrassing interview. The subtext was that CBS, under pressure from woke zealots, simply disowned Dokoupil and sought to subject him to correct thought training. His apparent crime was not insisting on different—softball—journalistic standards for woke black authors like Coates. In other words, CBS blamed Dokoupil for revealing Coates to be a fool on the air.

The network further diminished its eroding reputation yet again through the unprofessional conduct of recent moderators Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan during the J.D. Vance/Tim Walz vice presidential debate.

But it’s not just CBS; NBC are fully onboard Team Kamala:

And prior to that, look who moderated her “predetermined” take no new questions “town hall:”

And of course, the entire DNC-MSM has gone all-in this week on its roadshow version of The Producers, as Steve noted earlier:

And then they see trendlines such as these and pretend to not know why they’re occurring:

SISTER OF DECEASED SOLDIER BLASTS THE ATLANTIC FOR LATEST ANTI-TRUMP FABRICATIONS:

“As someone who was present in the room with President Trump during that meeting on December 4, he strongly urged that Spc. Vanessa Guillen’s grieving family should not have to bear the cost of any funeral arrangements, even offering to personally pay himself in order to honor her life and sacrifice,” Patel’s statement to Goldberg said. “In addition, President Trump was able to have the Department of Defense designate her death as occurring ‘in the line of duty,’ which gave her full military honors and provided her family access to benefits, services, and complete financial assistance.”

Theo Wold, yet another official who was actually in the room came out publicly to debunk Goldberg’s claims, saying “[Mayra] was poised and confident in advocating for her sister then and she’s right again today: The Atlantic hit piece is a lie.”

“I was at President Trump’s meeting with the Guillén family because I assisted with translation that day. President Trump was genuinely concerned about Vanessa Guillén and appalled by the tragedy the Guillén Family were enduring,” said Wold, former acting assistant attorney general in the Office of Legal Policy at the Department of Justice and deputy assistant to the president for domestic policy. “For example, President Trump had zero interest in the cameras. He met with the Guillén family privately for twenty minutes and offered the press gaggle solely if it would assist them in honoring Army Specialist Guillén and raising awareness about her case.”

“He even told them that day that the press are vipers,” Wold concluded. “Boy was President Trump right.”

The Trump campaign also denied the “f-cking Mexican” comment, which was included in Goldberg’s diatribe: “President Donald Trump never said that. This is an outrageous lie from The Atlantic two weeks before the election,” Alex Pfeiffer, a Trump campaign adviser, said.

Goldberg then turned to more unnamed sources, apparently “two people who heard [Trump] say,” “I need the kind of generals that Hitler had.” Pfeiffer once again denied the comment: “This is absolutely false. President Trump never said this.”

And right on cue, Kamala repeats Goldberg’s smear:

Unexpectedly — every Republican candidate for president has been compared to Hitler by Democrats since 1944.

PENNSYLVANIA MCDONALD’S FRANCHISE RETAINS SECURITY AFTER TRUMP’S VISIT LEADS TO THREATS:

The owner of a Pennsylvania McDonald’s that went made news over the weekend after former President Donald Trump visited and served up fries to customers has retained private security following threats made to the location. Trump’s visit, during which he was seen working the fry station and serving customers at the drive-thru in Bucks County, attracted both attention and threats, prompting the franchise owner, Derek Giacomantonio, to take action.

Jim Worthington, a key organizer of Trump’s visit and leader of Pennsylvania’s delegation at the Republican National Convention, told the Daily Caller that the McDonald’s has received threatening phone calls and social media messages after the former president’s appearance. In response, Giacomantonio, who had already hired private security ahead of the event, retained their services to protect his employees.

YOU’RE GONNA NEED A MUCH BIGGER BLOG: The Atlantic’s newest hit piece on Trump is why we can’t trust media.

The first thing to remember is that Goldberg could literally make up any quote from an alleged “anonymous” source, and he would face no repercussions. No major outlet will challenge the veracity of his shoddy work, which breaks numerous journalistic norms, because his accusations are aimed at the right target. The media, after all, is now the democracy-saving business.

The owner of the famed magazine certainly doesn’t give one wit about its integrity either. The Atlantic, which loses tens of millions of dollars every year, is owned by billionaire Laurene Powell Jobs, who isn’t worried about the magazine’s 164-year tradition of “challenging assumptions and pursuing truth.” Rather, as she explained to her ”close” and “genuine” friend, Vice President Kamala Harris, at an event not long ago, she wants to lift up “cultural narratives” that will create “a more just and equal society.”

Goldberg’s 2024 narrative is suffering from the same problems his 2020 “suckers and losers” hit piece did. Anonymous sources make claims that a bunch of on-the-record people contradict. There’s a 0% chance that any reputable newspaper, 10-20 years ago, would have run a story about a president demeaning fallen American servicemen based on an anonymous source without any corroboration.
