VIOLENT RHETORIC ALERT: Joe Biden’s fight behind the gym with Donald Trump might involve brass knuckles.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden says that the way he would deal with Senate Republicans who oppose his agenda is with a “brass knuckle fight,” later adds: “Let’s start a real physical revolution if you’re talking about it.” *

Curiously, Joe has abandoned his former boss’s advice:

“At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized, at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do,” he said, “it’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds.”

SHOOTING THOSE WHO DISAGREE ON CLIMATE CHANGE: Ed Driscoll: Terry Gilliam’s Eliminationist Rhetoric. With lefties, however funny they might seem, things always seem to turn to the gulag eventually.

Plus: “Gilliam’s dystopian 1985 film Brazil ends with Jonathan Pryce’s protagonist being brutally tortured by Michael Palin’s Speer or Eichmann-esque coolly technocratic statist character. Presumably, Pryce’s character dies at the end of the film or shortly afterwards. Who knew until now Gilliam meant it to be a happy ending and the whole film a how-to guide for big government?”

TWO MAHERS IN ONE:

JAY LENO: Now, Roger Ailes said to Fox, they’re gonna scale back the rhetoric. You think this will last for any longer than a week or two?

MAHER: No, because that’s the rhetoric they love. The right-wing loves, the go-to rhetoric for them is, “Wouldn’t it be fun to kill the people we disagree with?”

Newsbusters, January 12, 2001: “Bill Maher Heckled by ‘Tonight Show’ Crowd for Saying Conservatives Want to Kill People They Disagree With.”

Flash-forward an appearance by Maher on the October 7th edition of StarTalk Radio, a syndicated radio show hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, who brought up the topic of the death penalty. Maher responded:

“I have a lot of ideas that you might consider conservative.  But I feel like on that, I’m just consistent, like the pope is consistent.  The pope is consistently pro-life; I’m consistently pro-death.

“I am for the death penalty, although I do believe in more DNA testing,” Maher continued.  “My motto is, ‘Let’s kill the right people.’  I’m pro-choice.  I’m for assisted suicide.  I’m for regular suicide.  I’m for whatever gets the freeway moving.  That’s what I’m for.”

“It’s too crowded,” Maher continued.  “So, the planet is too crowded and we need to promote death.”

Such hateful eliminationist rhetoric. I wonder if that’s the official opinion of Time-Warner-CNN-HBO, Maher’s employer?

JAMES TARANTO: Bigoted and hateful rhetoric from a New York Times columnist. “Remember when the Times lectured us on civility and warned of ‘eliminationist rhetoric’ from the right? It was largely bunk. But here we have a Times columnist likening his political critics to vermin. To be sure, he is not actually going to exterminate them, as others who’ve used such metaphors down through history have been known to do. Blow’s comments, that is, are not dangerous. But they are profoundly disturbed and indecent.”

THE ECONOMIST: Spinning Tucson: Krugman’s Toxic Rhetoric. “This struck me as irresponsibly premature, and one might have thought that, given a little more time and information, Mr Krugman would change his tune, or at least turn down the volume. Nope. . . . At this point, there is simply no sound reason to believe this deranged young man was fired up by ‘toxic’ or ‘eliminationist’ conservative rhetoric from Michele Bachmann or whomever. Why are we even having this conversation? It’s nuts. It’s offensive.”

It’s Krugman. Related thoughts here. “Another way of describing Fitzsimmons’s and Krugman’s comments is that they were fantasies. In the absence of facts, each man constructed a fictional story to explain what had happened. These stories tell us nothing about the external world, but they give us a window into the psyches of Fitzsimmons and Krugman.” Indeed they do. Plus this: “It seems to us there is a very strong case to be made that the ugliest political rhetoric of the past 48 hours has been that coming from the side whose leading voices are attempting to make sense of a senseless crime by blaming their opponents for it.”

REVOLUTIONARY RHETORIC AT SALON? “It must be admitted that there are some who have argued for some time that the Obama administration is ‘radical,’ and that it operates without due regard for the Constitution. For instance, at least one writer at Salon. I trust Mr. Pareene and his colleagues can work this out among themselves, and I eagerly await Mr. Pareene’s clear and unqualified statement of his belief that the election of George W. Bush was neither illegitimate nor illegal.”

Plus, remembering Andrew Sullivan’s eliminationist rhetoric.

PROVOCATIVE, CONFRONTATIONAL RHETORIC FROM JAMES CARVILLE AND THE DCCC: “Narrow-minded tea party nut jobs,” “vile two-bit wing-nuts,” “slimy thugs.” This kind of unhinged, eliminationist rhetoric might lead some of his followers to acts of violence, for which he would surely be condemned by all right-thinking people.

WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON OVER AT MORNING JOE?

Folks, it is off the air today, for the first time in its history, and this is neither an accident nor a minor event in the media world. The flagship broadcast of America’s political establishment, Joe Biden’s “favorite show” — the one he possibly watches more religiously than he attends Mass — is missing in action on this most important Monday in recent living political times. (I imagine Joe Biden now lost, without his magnetic lodestone to center him, lacking any idea of what to say even to his chef today, and for the first time I genuinely fear for the nation.)

* * * * * * * *

And apparently, we must now all Beware of the Blob, for it cannot be trusted to be let loose on this Monday morning to explain how America ought to properly regard the attempted assassination of the former president of the United States. Could that possibly be because the attempt came after years of Morning Joe’s various guests spending their waking hours depicting that same man as an incubatory proto-Hitler? Here’s the funny thing: Honestly, I doubt it.

Read that again carefully: I do not think that was the reason at all. Because I don’t think shame motivated MSNBC at all. I instead wonder whether it was well-placed fear. Surely there are private communications — texts, emails, perhaps deeply unfortunate drunken half-punctuated rants CC’d to far more people than a sober person would send — that made today impossible. Why else would MSNBC do the utterly unprecedented, and simply axe its flagship brand-name show on one of the most consequential news days of the last decade? And if it was impossible for Mika and Joe to be up to the challenge of discussing events without the sort of rhetoric that would shame an entire nation, to say nothing of a network, then how on earth would it be any less so tomorrow? To quote one of RedState’s sharpest observers: “Pulling Morning Joe off the air is an admission.” “An admission of what?” remains the only question.

The Biden-Harris campaign is on a post-debate blitz, meanwhile, in an apparent effort to quell the distress.

A memo the campaign sent to Hill offices obtained by Scripps News highlights President Biden’s energetic campaign rallies, swing state polling and grassroots support.

The president joined a call with the Biden Victory Fund National Finance Committee, where the campaign says he told supporters, “It’s time to put Trump in the bullseye,” framing his strategy for the next debate as “Attack. Attack. Attack. Attack.”

As former President DONALD TRUMP’s trial opened Monday in New York City, NYT’s MAGGIE HABERMAN posted an update from the courtroom: “Trump appears to be sleeping. His head keeps dropping down and his mouth goes slack.”

The post, which immediately went viral on X and was almost instantly the talk of cable news panels, shot around Biden world in emails and text messages between White House, campaign aides and other Democrats close to the administration.

“Hitler Pig sleepy,” one individual said on one thread as a caption to Haberman’s post.

You read that right: “Hitler Pig.”

That moniker, four people in Biden’s orbit told West Wing Playbook, is one that aides to and allies of the president — generally younger, more digitally native individuals, not senior staffers, one person clarified — frequently use to describe Trump.

VDH: The Left Knows Leftism Doesn’t Work.

All of the left’s once-grandiose ideas of packing the Supreme Court, ending the filibuster, admitting two new states to win four more liberal senators, and destroying the Electoral College have little public support and will go nowhere. Corporations like Disney, Target, and Anheuser-Busch have all begun backtracking on their money-losing, market-share-eroding woke/DEI agendas.

Universities are terrified that their endowment income is either static or in decline, given a rising drop-off in public and alumni giving. They know their race-based, non-meritocratic admissions and hiring are increasingly destroying their brand names. To accommodate their new non-meritocratic student bodies, they have variously inflated their grades to the point of parody, watered down work requirements, or introduced gut courses—and as a result, they are quickly losing their once-coveted prestige. Some campuses are already reinstating the SAT and ACT requirements that were thrown out in 2020-21 in the hysteria that followed the death of George Floyd. Harvard and Stanford aren’t boasting that the erasure of the SAT created a more competitive student body and raised standards to new levels.

The twin ideas of foreign-funded Middle-Eastern-studies centers and of admitting tens of thousands of affluent, full-tuition-paying Middle-Eastern students led to institutionalized anti-Semitism on campus and eliminationist rhetoric right out the old Klan playbook. The appeasement by university presidencies only whets the appetites of those who unlawfully occupy, vandalize, deface, and disrupt. Their pro-terrorist chants and emblems are bleeding the universities of billions of dollars in lost donations.

In short, the policies that the left has given us over the last years—hyperinflation, spiking staple and gas prices, racial and tribal chauvinism, dangerous streets, an emasculated and politicized military, and wars abroad—did not work, and are now being masked to retain power, put on hold, or even reversed.

Way back during the 2004 election, Ann Coulter quipped that “both parties run for office as conservatives. Once they have fooled the voters and are safely in office, Republicans sometimes double-cross the voters. Democrats always do.”

In January of 2008, the San Francisco Chronicle’s editors were smart enough (in a Machiavellian sense) to protect Obama when, as a candidate, in order to get to Hillary’s left, he openly proposed bankrupting coal plants. They understood their role as Democratic party activists with bylines meant burying Obama’s Kinsley-style gaffe rather than making it the lead headline on the front page.

But Obama opened the floodgates, and their hatred of Trump gave the left the excuse to really let their freak flags fly during the last eight years. (No wonder they’re hoping we forget the events of 2020.) During the 2020 election cycle, Biden’s handlers simultaneously tried to pose him as the last moderate left in the Democratic party, while allowing him to openly boast of the chaos his administration would cause to energy and immigration if he were elected.

Once that reality ensued, as with the election results in Europe last week, the American left know that the clock may be running down on their current obsessions – but it’s a very long way back these days if they want to rhetorically pivot to the center once again.

OLD AND BUSTED AT THE WAPO: All The President’s Men.

The New Hotness? WaPo Runs 5,000 Word Profile Of Man Imprisoned For Threatening Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“What had made March 3, 2022 a different kind of day?” reads the Post story. “Maybe it was the [electroconvulsive therapy]. Maybe it was timing, the mania and depression coming together in his brain. Maybe Greene was ‘the worst person at the worst time to cross my path,’ he says. Maybe he needed to ‘be heard,’ he says, and the threat had been an expression of his loneliness and regrets. If he still spoke to his children, if his mom were still alive, if he still worked full time, if he hadn’t been watching so much TV news, if the news wasn’t about a country where so many people were making so many threats, maybe that night would have been different.”

[Joe] Morelli said he was “manic” but “clear and focused” the day he called Greene’s office and issued threats in March 2022, the Post story reads. Morelli felt “untouchable, like he could jump from a building and land on his feet.”

Morelli had made the threats to Greene after seeing a campaign ad on TV depicting her firing a .50-caliber sniper at a Toyota Prius with the word “SOCIALISM” plastered on the side of the car, explaining she was “going to blow away the Democrats’ socialist agenda,” according to the Post. This angered Morelli, who was suffering from mania and depression.

“A few things Morelli hated about that ad: He had especially disliked Greene ever since he saw a video of her heckling a survivor of the Parkland, Fla., school shooting, outside the Capitol in 2019,” the Post story reads. “He also hated guns, like the one she had pointed at the word “SOCIALISM.” Then there were times when Morelli hated himself, and his connection to that word, because he relied on disability benefits, which he considered to be a form of socialism, one he believed in, but one that had been a source of some shame, too.”

Yes, it’s Marjorie Taylor Greene, she of the Jewish space lasers and “Gazpacho Police.” But it’s still astonishing to read the WaPo’s fawning profile of a man who threatened a politician. But then for the Post, no enemies to the left, to coin a socialist-approved phrase.

Also from that same WaPo profile (this version should be outside the paywall if you’d like to read it in full):

“Ninety-nine percent of the time, to 99 percent of people, I’m an extremely polite, sweet guy,” Morelli told the Post. “In ordinary life, it takes a lot to get me upset.”

“He takes a sip of coffee. He gets up from the couch, opens the back door, and for now, at least, as he leaves the apartment, he feels no anger. He is a stone in a lake, gently and slowly floating,” the story ends.

I didn’t know stones could float. Say what you will about Ben Bradlee, but he would have had the good sense to draw a red pencil through at least that line, if he didn’t nix this story entirely. In contrast today, as Josh Barro asked in 2022: Are There Any Adults at the Washington Post? As Iowahawk noted around the same time, Barro was clearly asking the question rhetorically:

The video starts with her saying, ‘I need you to understand that this is not okay.’ This is why it’s valuable to have rules of conduct that apply universally, as opposed to, ‘Anything my tribe does is okay and anything those other guys do is bad.’ It never ends up working that way long-term.”

WE’VE DESCENDED INTO SOME SORT OF BIZARRE HELL-WORLD IN WHICH JON STEWART IS A VOICE OF SANITY: Watch: Jon Stewart Mocks MSNBC and CNN Into Next Week for Histrionic Coverage of Hogtied Biden Image.

Biden campaign spokesman Michael Tyler absurdly claimed in a statement that the video was yet another instance of Trump attempting to incite violence.

This image from Donald Trump is the type of crap you post when you’re calling for a bloodbath or when you tell the Proud Boys to ‘stand back and stand by.’ Trump is regularly inciting political violence and it’s time people take him seriously — just ask the Capitol Police officers who were attacked protecting our democracy on January 6.

No word if the hypocritical Mr. Tyler was equally offended when pretend-comedian Kathy Griffin posted a photo in May 2017 of herself holding up a Donald Trump mask made to look like a bloodied severed head.

Then it was Jon Stewart Time.

Before showing the clip, the “Comedy Central” host deadpanned:

It’s got to be devastating. News channels show images from Ukraine, from Gaza, from natural disasters. They get through them dispassionately. I can’t imagine how devastating this footage must be.

He then stared at his audience dumbfounded as laughter filled the studio.

After the clip was aired, Stewart mercilessly went to work on the Trump-loathing networks.

That’s what was so disturbing and dehumanizing you wouldn’t show it on television? An airbrushed Biden decal on the back of a truck? Aren’t you the same networks that show reruns of 9/11 every year?

[I]t’s not like people really think that Biden was tied up in the back of the truck. If you think that’s really Joe Biden tied up in the back of a pickup truck, I don’t know if you have the mental acuity to be operating a motor vehicle.

As the laughter continued, a grand time was had by all.

BREAKING: Nashville Transgender Shooter’s Manifesto Leaked, Huge Revelations on Motive. “On one page, Hale used an anti-white slur, writing about her desire to ‘kill all you little crackers.’ In another instance, she complained about those at the school having ‘white privlages.'”

The left needs to be held responsible for its endless racist hate speech that is promoting stochastic terrorism.

Plus: “At this point, the question should be asked why this has been kept hidden from the public. It is very common when dealing with ‘right-wing’ shooters for their manifestos to be described in detail or even released in short order. In this case, the manifesto has been kept under lock and key, with no indication of when the public might receive answers. That has obviously led to much suspicion, some of which has now been confirmed.”

Related: What the Manifesto Leak Says About the Regime.

First, of course, the Regime will allow minority groups like Muslims and transgenders to openly demonize their enemies, calling for their eradication and spreading absurd claims about the “genocide” being inflicted on them. Both Muslims and transgenders are constantly crying about imaginary “genocides.”

This rhetoric justifies all violence, because if someone is committing “genocide” against you, obviously you have the right to oppose that genocide with any violence within your means — even slaughtering children, as both the transgender child killer and the Hamas child killers did.

The Regime allows this kind of incendiary, eliminationist rhetoric from its Client Groups, but ruthlessly deplatforms and debanks anyone who merely criticizes its Client Groups.

And The Regime considers it “too dangerous” for its Client Groups for the public to even read what members of its Client Groups write in their Murder Manifestos.

Yeah, pretty much.

NEW CIVILITY WATCH: Former CIA Director’s Post Still Wonders About Sen. Tuberville Being Removed From ‘the Human Race.’

People have definitely been sharing their thoughts lately with regards to the holds that Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) is placing on military nominations and promotions in response to the Pentagon’s illegal abortion policy that is in violation of 10 U.S.C. 1093. Under the Biden administration, servicemembers and their dependents can receive paid time off for abortions, and travel expenses are covered if the abortion takes place out-of-state. People have really taken their anger up a notch, though. One such user asked “Should Tommy Tuberville be removed from his committee?” That prompted Gen. Michael Hayden, formerly of the CIA and NSA, to take it a step further.

“How about the human race?” his post wondered. As many have taken to X to point out, the former head of the CIA and NSA is calling for the death of a sitting U.S. Senator by wondering if he should be removed from “the human race.” Within hours, the post had over 1,000 replies and over 250 quoted reposts. There’s still over 1,300 likes, though.

Curiously, Hayden’s post is still up.

WHY IS THE LEFT SUCH A CESSPIT OF VIOLENCE? Josselyn Berry, Katie Hobbs’ press secretary, tweets gun-toting image ripping ‘transphobes.’

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs’ press secretary ignited an uproar with a tweet blasting “transphobes” with an image of an armed woman, an image posted the same day that six students and staff at a Christian school were killed by a transgender shooter.

Josselyn Berry, spokeswoman for the Democratic governor, posted a Monday evening tweet with the caption “Us when we see transphobes” and a gif of a woman brandishing two handguns — a post viewed as shockingly tone-deaf.

The unidentified woman in the image is actress Gena Rowlands and comes from her 1980 movie “Gloria.”

The Arizona Freedom Caucus responded by calling for Ms. Berry to be “fired immediately.”

“Less than 12 hours after the tragic shooting in Nashville by a deranged transgender activist @katiehobbs’ Press Secretary calls for shooting people Democrats disagree with,” the caucus tweeted.

“Calling for violence like this is un-American & never acceptable,” the group added.

Late Tuesday night, Berry locked down her Twitter account, but here’s a screenshot of the tweet in question:

YES. NEXT QUESTION? Are Democratic leaders encouraging political violence?

It was reported this week that a canvasser for Senator Marco Rubio  was brutally attacked by Democrats because the victim was wearing clothing advertising Rubio and also Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Sen. Rubio tweeted Monday:

Whatever one’s partisan leanings, when this incident was reported a fair person could condemn this act of political violence without jumping to the conclusion that Republicans should be on the lookout for physical attacks from Democrats all over the country.

* * * * * * * *

But when you think about it further, particularly what Sen. Paul has experienced, I can’t say with certainty that more of this kind of violence won’t happen in the future and it could become more common than anyone might expect – with Democratic leaders either encouraging it or at least not condemning it.That’s what rage can potentially drive people to do and there’s a blaze of political rage out there right now, on all sides.

Evergreen:

A PRECAUTION AGAINST CHANGING THE COURT VIA ASSASSINATION: America Needs Vice-Justices. “While urging protestors to stay “peaceful”, President Biden and his spokeswoman repeatedly refused to condemn protests outside the justices’ private homes, declining to do so both before and after the would-be assassin showed up at Kavanaugh’s house. After the incident, Biden’s spokeswoman further declined to condemn protestors who had tracked Kavanaugh down at a restaurant and protested outside it while he was there, forcing him to leave early due to security concerns.”

The proposal: “Specifically: just like the president does, every justice should select his or her own ‘vice justice,’ who, just like vice presidents, will do absolutely nothing, unless a justice is murdered, in which case the vice justice will immediately take the bench and appoint his or her own vice justice. An important side-point: if a justice resigns, or dies of natural causes, the vice justice would not be called up. Otherwise, that would create a permanent hereditary seat. The goal is merely to prevent zealots from having an incentive to murder justices.”

I like this plan, though I prefer my plan to make the Court bigger. But yes, it’s absurd to make so much depend on the death or retirement of a single individual.

I’LL TAKE HEADLINES FROM 2020, ALEX: Fueled By Two-Tiered Political Justice, The Left’s 1960s Violence Is Back.

The violent bear it away. That title of Flannery O’Connor’s 1960 novel still resonates. Some relentless atavism is at work in our culture, a monstrous irrationality that awakens what O’Connor called “the stuff of which madmen and fanatics are made.” Violence, no longer shunned, is now an accepted political tool.

The attempted assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh—preceded by U.S Attorney General Merrick Garland’s refusal to enforce federal law against protesters at justices’ homes—exposed the fragile divide between constituted order and willed anarchy. In effect, the attorney general’s inaction acquiesced to mob intimidation and signaled a willingness to risk further lawlessness.

The descent into Third World-like threats against the judiciary did not come suddenly. The slouch toward selective law enforcement and politicized violence has a history. By whatever name we call it—wokeism nowadays—adversary culture has been loosening essential restraints for some six decades. Like the lifecycle of a parasite, the passion for repudiating established order mutates and reappears in successive stages. Today’s recurrence of the New Left virus keeps the inherited infection alive in a new generation of hosts.

When did it ever go away? Bernie Bro James T. Hodgkinson, Attempted Assassin Of Steve Scalise, Already Being Erased From History. And additional examples of leftist violence and eliminationist rhetoric at the link.

THE BULWALK IS STILL CONSERVING CONSERVATISM MOST CONSERVATIVELY: Can Democrats Find Their Fear and Rage? American carnage: But this time for real.

Bernie Sanders, for instance, has not been principally concerned that the Supreme Court would overturn Roe—and that same sex marriage could be next. Or that Big Lie Republicans across the country have been nominated after campaigning on promises to steal the next election. Instead, he has mostly focused on criticizing his party for turning its back on the working class.

Months ago Sanders declared that a “major course correction” was required and said “You really can’t win an election with a bumper sticker that says: ‘Well, we can’t do much, but the other side is worse.’”

Really Bernie. It sure seems like the Republicans have figured out how to make that math work.

* * * * * * * *

This year, Democrats should run on anger and terror. As campaign genius Corey Lewandowski said in 2018, before the first anti-Trump wave, “People don’t turn out to say thank you.” This is why Republicans spent 2018 trying to scare Americans about caravans, hoping their fear and loathing of Trump would be eclipsed by fear of MS-13. It turned out that Trump was more frightening.

It’s not far-fetched to think some swing voters will be scared to put Republicans in charge of the House after they learn that Republicans not only abetted Trump but some worked so hard to help steal the election they asked for pardons themselves. Some Democrats think they will be. Simon Rosenberg, who was one of the first Democrats to note that voters in recent months were separating their views of Biden from Democratic Senate candidates, has argued that the same anti-Trump energy that propelled Democrats to the majority in 2018 and Biden to the presidency can materialize again.

THIS INSURRECTION BROUGHT TO YOU BY TIME-WARNER-DISCOVERY: Is TBS Really Proud of Sam Bee Endangering Supreme Court Justices?

BEE: I can’t describe how painful it is to be here now in a place where the Supreme Court has the power to erase 50 years of constitutional law. Make no mistake, this is not where it ends. Conservatives will not rest until they have come for all of our rights. Everything we have fought for will be lost unless we take it back. It’s not just about voting in November. It’s about doing everything in our power to protect and help vulnerable people access abortion across state lines. And we have to raise hell in our cities, in Washington, in every restaurant Justice Alito eats at for the rest of his life, because if Republicans have made our lives hell, it’s time to return the favor.

It’s quite tempting to urge Bee to simply go back and raise hell in Canada. (She has dual citizenship after getting naturalized in 2014.) It’s also quite tempting to suggest Bee should have someone harass her at restaurants, and see if she likes it.

If violence actually does happen to a Supreme Court justice, Bee already has her excuse prepared, based on her response to Bernie Bro James T. Hodgkinson attempting to assassinate Steve Scalise in 2017: Sam Bee Rips Right-Wing ‘Idiots’ Blaming ‘Unhinged Left’ for Congressional Shooting.

And on Democrat Jon Ossoff’s loss to Republican Karen Handel in yesterday’s Georgia special election, Bee zeroed in on the one super PAC that “crossed the line” by claiming Ossoff’s supporters included “unhinged leftists” who were “cheering” the shooting of congressional Republicans.

Oh, that must be why he lost,” Bee said. “The ‘cheering last week’s shooting’ demographic is basically zero. The unhinged left is even less powerful than the hinged left, which is saying a lot.”

But since the right is “kind of short on boogeyman these days,” they have blaming everything from Snoop Dogg to Kathy Griffin to Shakespeare in the Park for inspiring violence against Republicans. “That is appalling,” Bee said of the pro-Trump activists who interrupted Julius Caesar. “Protesters managed to get tickets for Shakespeare in the Park? If you guys can get me into that treasonous play with black Founding Fathers who are rude to Mike Pence, give me a call.”

“Shakespeare and Snoop Dogg are not responsible for last week’s shooting just like Sarah Palin was not responsible for Gabby Giffords’ shooting,” Bee said. “The only violent assaults Palin has ever committed were against moose, grizzly bears, wolves, and the English language.”

“Look, can we all try to be vigilant without being fucking idiots?” she asked. “Guys, it’s summer!”

Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

Frankly, this looks like a young man in the middle of a mental-health breakdown that’s been a long time coming. His last column at the [Louisville Courier Journal] hinted at this too, a few months before he briefly went missing:

I went to school and became exceptional. I beat the odds. My parents allowed me to invest in a bright, comfortable future where I will have earned the benefit of the doubt in a world where my skin color automatically denies me such right.

I’ve earned the right to say I’m not one of the poor, miserable “others” in the streets begging for a handout. I’m America’s bright future. I’ve become another symbol of neoliberal progress where my title and my “recognized” name will give hope to those in desperate need of food, security and shelter.

And thus I’ve become destroyed. No longer myself. But another tool of oppression.

Picking up a gun to force his “revolution” seems inevitable from this long descent. His “revolutionary love letter” all but promised a violent uprising of some sort. And yet, in a media world where honking horns and Spotify contracts are treated like ackshual violence, no one seemed to notice Quintez Brown’s leap off the deep end until he tried to assassinate another local politician. And even then, the same media outlet on which his descent can be chronicled seems less than interested in tying this violence to either Brown’s clear political support for totalitarian systems or his mental health. Don’t expect much more national media coverage of this either, for the same reasons that the LCJ is treading lightly now.
