UNEXPECTEDLY: Gavin Newsom embraces ‘dirty’ energy in bid to ease blackouts.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has embraced “dirty” energy for California as he looks to stave off blackouts threatening the state’s strained energy grid.

While Newsom has pushed for a transition to renewable energy in California, the realities there have forced him to increasingly rely on nonrenewable energy sources to meet the state’s energy demands. Fighting off heavy criticism from environmental activists, the California governor has countered by pointing out the practical necessity of using some nonrenewables while stressing his efforts to transition to renewable energy.

“Gov. Newsom is committed to keeping the lights on while maintaining affordability for all Californians,” Newsom’s deputy press secretary, Daniel Villasenor, told the Washington Examiner.

MITCH MCCONNELL FROZE AGAIN…AND IT HAPPENED AT THE WORST TIME:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell appeared to freeze again Wednesday, this time during a gaggle with reporters in Covington, Kentucky, stopping for more than 30 seconds after he was asked if he would run for re-election.

The Kentucky Republican froze in July at a news conference on Capitol Hill, going silent for 19 seconds before being escorted away from the cameras. McConnell, 81, returned shortly afterward and continued his news conference, telling reporters, “I’m fine.”

When it became apparent that McConnell had frozen again on Wednesday, an aide came up to him and asked, “Did you hear the question, senator?” McConnell continued to be unresponsive.

Once McConnell re-engaged, he responded briefly to another question about Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, a Republican; his aide needed to repeat the question to him. McConnell was then asked about former President Donald Trump, another question that had to be repeated. McConnell brushed off the question because he does not usually engage in Trump-related topics. He then left.

MILE MARKERS ON THE ROAD TO DETROIT: Joe Montana Sues San Francisco With Neighbors Over Sewage-Damaged Homes.

“For many years, the city has had actual and constructive knowledge that the sewage and storm drainage system in and around the [Marina Boulevard area] cannot sufficiently handle anticipated conditions and rain events,” said the claim, which The Standard first reported on in early August.

The residents are represented by prominent San Francisco attorneys, including Khaldoun Baghdadi, former head of the city’s Human Rights Commission. Baghdadi said residents filed the claims in June—which are often a precursor to a lawsuit—to put themselves “back where they were” financially before the flooding. The lawsuit was filed on Thursday.

“We don’t only trust the city to maintain the sewage infrastructure, but we pay it for doing so,” Baghdadi said. “When the city makes the decisions that cause raw sewage to flood homes, it is responsible for compensating residents.”

Thanks to rampant NIMBY-ism, so much of the Bay Area is built around postwar infrastructure that is rarely, or has never been upgraded.

GREAT MOMENTS IN SPIN: KJP Leaves Jake Tapper Visibly Befuddled While Claiming Reporters Can’t Keep Up With Biden.

“Look, people have come after the president about his age,” Jean-Pierre continued. “They did it in 2019. They did it in 2020 leading into the general election. And they did it in 2022. And guess what, he beats them every time. Because he has his finger on the pulse of what it is the American people need. He talks about issues that really matter to the American people. And he is delivering.”

As Biden himself would say, “Malarkey.”

‘TREATED LIKE A TODDLER:’ Biden Fumed to Friends about Aides Backtracking after Putin ‘Cannot Remain in Power’ Comment.

“Biden instantly knew that the White House would have to clarify his mistake. By the time Biden piled into the motorcade. His aides had released a statement walking back his sentence,” Franklin Foer writes in his forthcoming biography of Biden’s first term in the White House, The Last Politician, excerpted in Axios.

“Biden left for home, ending his triumphalist tour, feeling sorry for himself,” Foer continues. “Rather than owning his failure, he fumed to his friends about how he was treated like a toddler. Was John Kennedy ever babied like that?”

AS A WISE COMMUNITY ORGANIZER ONCE SAID, PUNCH BACK TWICE AS HARD: Told to remove ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ patch, this Colorado kid took a stand.

Jaiden is a 12-year-old student at a charter school in Colorado Springs who yesterday was kicked out of class for disruptive activities.

He didn’t punch anyone, shout, curse, make noise or act in any unruly way. Quite the contrary — Jaiden is a well-mannered boy who dresses and acts in an upstanding way. It just so happens that Jaiden is also very patriotic.

He portrays his patriotism with clothing (sometimes wearing a tri-corner hat) and also on his backpack — featuring a “Don’t Tread on Me” Gadsden flag.

But the director at Vanguard School, where Jaiden attends, appears to believe that this historical flag has “origins with slavery” and is “disruptive to the classroom environment.” He told Jaiden’s mother the boy could not return to class unless the patch was removed.

This is clear viewpoint discrimination. Indeed, the school district policy that the director cited only relates to things featuring “drugs, tobacco, alcohol or weapons” — none of which apply to the Gadsden flag.

DON SURBER: Returning to nor/mal.

Gendering is a means of torturing us. Remember the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode where the captain is tortured? His abductors shine four lights in his eyes. They ask how many lights he sees. He says four. They zap him and tell him the answer is five in an effort to break him down.

Which brings me to Liam Morrison, a seventh-grade student at John T. Nichols, Jr. Middle School in Middleborough, Massachusetts. He wore a T-shirt to school that said there are two genders. The principal zapped him. There are 57, just like Heinz.

At school board meeting, the lad asked, “Who is this protected class? Are their feelings more important than my rights? I don’t complain when I see pride flags and diversity posters hung throughout the school. Do you know why? Because others have a right to their beliefs just as I do.”

In 1969, the Supreme Court ruled that a student’s rights don’t end at the schoolhouse door.

But that decision applies only to lefty causes because a judge ruled against the kid.

Nevertheless, Master Morrison stood up to the Marxists, as did the girls at the 4-H event. A man has a right to wear a dress, but he does not have the right to force the rest of us to accept him as a woman.

This is the way.

MARK JUDGE: I tried to warn conservatives about the American Stasi. They ignored me.

I didn’t want recognition after being wrongly accused of witnessing a sexual assault by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh that never occurred. I simply wanted people to hear my message, which is, in short, what the Left did to me, it will do to you. The Left will abuse the legal system and use the media and opposition researchers to try and destroy you and everyone else in its way.

That’s exactly what it is doing to the Supreme Court and former President Donald Trump. Even though I think Trump’s behavior on Jan. 6 was reprehensible and know that he lost the 2020 election, I agree with attorney Alan Dershowitz that the four indictments of the president are banana-republic stuff. It’s weaponizing the law to try and ruin a political opponent. The president has free speech rights. The indictment regarding an alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels is a joke, and if Trump improperly handled classified material, then so did President Joe Biden.

In fact, the atmosphere now is similar to 2018, when the Democratic Party, the media, and outright criminals tried to destroy me and my high school friend Kavanaugh by using a woman named Christine Blasey Ford. Ford claimed that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her when the two were in high school in 1982. Ford claimed I was in the room where the assault allegedly took place and that I witnessed everything before jumping in and breaking it up. The entire thing was a setup . I was denied due process, and the press savaged me and somehow found more and more accusers from places I’d never been to. As with Trump, the charges got more and more absurd and just kept piling up. At least Trump is told the time and place he supposedly did the thing he is charged with.

Yet much of the media, even on the Right, fail to recognize what the Left is trying to do. Indeed, for all its talk about clueless elites, the Right can be just as elite and clueless.

Read the whole thing.
