WELL, MARXIST-ADJACENT: Is Kamala Harris truly a Marxist? Understanding Marxism With Ben Shapiro and Paul Kengor.

Shapiro asked Kengor if he agrees with identifying Harris as a Marxist, and Kengor expressed caution about simply labeling all leftists as Marxists. (READ MORE: Kamala Harris Borrows From Karl Marx)

“I want to call a Marxist a Marxist only if we’re dealing with a legitimate Marxist,” Kengor responded. Kengor proceeded to explain the different classifications of Marxism that have developed throughout history — from proletariat against bourgeoisie and oppressed against oppressor to pitting the sexes against each other.

“I’d stay away from saying in a national debate [that] she’s a Marxist unless you can really defend it and explain it,” Kengor said. Shapiro agreed with Kengor’s sentiment, elaborating that baseless name-calling “waters down what Marxism is and makes it more palatable for the masses.”

Kengor, who is a political science professor and teaches about Marxism at Grove City College, told Shapiro that the best definition of Marxism was already given by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in their Communist Manifesto.

“I would argue — others have too — that the primary virtue in Marxism is envy,” Kengor added.

ANDREW STILES: Election Day 2024: What’s Going To Happen? And How Did We Get Here?

Today is Election Day. Who’s going to win? Trump? Harris? Nobody knows. It might be very close, or maybe not. God willing, we’ll have an answer by the end of the night. Until then, please enjoy this definitive preview (and insightful recap) of the 2024 presidential election.

If Harris Wins: The mainstream media are going to congratulate themselves for saving democracy. For many journalists, it will be the best thing that will ever happen to them for the rest of their miserable lives. Eventually, reality will set in as their companies continue to hemorrhage money in the post-Trump era. They won’t know what to do when their mostly liberal readers and viewers have no interest in hearing or reading about why House Republicans are a bunch of fascists for voting down the Harris-Schumer Common Sense Solutions Act of 2025. Harris will be so obnoxious and ineffectual as president, there might be rumblings of a Hillary Clinton primary challenge or coup. We’ll never find out what she actually believes, and we’ll spend another four years wondering who is actually running the country. China will definitely invade Taiwan.

If Trump Wins: Millions of college degree holders will suffer debilitating mental breakdowns. We’ll witness a collective tantrum the likes of which the world has never known. The media will run a bunch of headlines about how American voters “chose fascism” because they “hate women.” A bunch of celebrities will insist they were serious about leaving the country but never follow through beyond changing their official residences to some offshore tax haven. Journalists will anoint themselves again as guardians of democracy, only harder. Their behavior will grow increasingly unhinged, perhaps to the point where they start doing sit-ins on the White House lawn or reading the Constitution in a Guy Fawkes mask or quitting their jobs to go live on a compound with armed separatists in California. No one will ever ask Kamala Harris to run for public office ever again.

KAM’S CAMERA CON?

WELL, LET’S HOPE SO: ‘Your dad’s favorite film of the year:’ early Gladiator II reactions revealed.

With Gladiator, [Ridley Scott] appears to have belatedly rediscovered his talent for grand storytelling. That’s judging by the social media responses that have been published (the embargo for full-blown reviews doesn’t lift until next Monday, 11 November).

“He’s still got it – absolutely buzzing,” tweeted FilmSpeak’s Griffin Schiller. “An epic Shakespearean tale of hope, futility and power within a crumbling system,” he added – which sounds more like a Manchester United biopic than a Roman epic, but there you go.

Other reviewers were just as effusive. “‘Welcome back to the f–king movies.’ That sums up Gladiator II,” says Clayton Davis of Variety, while Simon Thompson of The Playlist felt that it “dovetailed stylishly with the original”. Luke Hearfield, meanwhile, tipped his hat to Scott’s direction: “This swords & sandals epic is easily his best film in ages and will be your dad’s fav film of 2024.”

At least going by the trailers, it seems like the best of an otherwise glum slate of movies scheduled to come out around Thanksgiving.

DAVID MARCUS: A comedy legend trashes his rep for cheap Democrat propaganda.

Back on Oct. 1, [Saturday Night Live creator/producer Lorne] Michaels told The Hollywood Reporter that neither Harris nor her opponent Donald Trump would appear on the show, a statement which turned out to have all the honesty of Jon Lovitz saying, “Yeah, that’s the ticket.”

Suddenly, with three days left before the election, Michaels decided that his comedy show, one of the few things all Americans still share, would become a full-blown arm of the Harris campaign.

Live from New York….It’s Democrat Propaganda!

I’d be very curious to know exactly how this happened. Did Michaels have a change of heart and reach out to Harris? Or, as seems more likely, did a panicked Harris campaign beg for her star turn on the weekly broadcast?

This is the same Kamala Harris who couldn’t be bothered to attend the Al Smith dinner at the invitation of Cardinal Timothy Dolan because her schedule was too tight. Suddenly, 72 hours before the election, she cancels a rally in Michigan to appear live at the home of Father Guido Sarducci?

Michaels broke a real and serious trust here, part of what makes comedy as social commentary work. It’s something SNL has often strived at: fairness and the idea that all sides are open to ridicule. Such a blatant display of partisanship destroys that.

This is why woke comedy doesn’t work. In the place of the edgy and honest skewering of society, it instead is a laundry list of pseudo-religious shibboleths wearing a shabby comic costume.

The audience isn’t laughing at the joke, but at the stupidity of those they disagree with.

It is also worth noting that SNL has produced some of the most notable conservatives in Hollywood, including Dennis Miller, Rob Schneider, and Victoria Jackson.

None of whom publicly broadcast they were conservatives until long after they left the show, as is the case with most open conservatives working in Hollywood who wait until their careers are well established before announcing they lean anywhere to the right of Gorbachev.

And while its obvious whom Lorne was endorsing in this election, Kamala could have done Rogan as well, and likely cost Trump his endorsement in the process.

But as Roger Simon writes, celebrities in general were the “Big Losers of Election 2024:” “Am I the only one who has had enough of so-called ‘celebrities’ to last a lifetime or six? I have begun to think of them as a form of pollution.  We are constantly bombarded with their views on everything that are almost never of the slightest depth or value.”

But Hollywood is the Democrats’ base in the 21st century, and it’s important for politicians to service their constituents, which sadly means we will likely be seeing their capped teeth and botoxed faces in campaign ads for years to come.

I assume we’ve all been extensively riding the mute buttons on our remotes very hard during football games for the past month.

MISTER, WE COULD GET A KAM LIKE HERBERT HOOVER AGAIN: Trump warns of depression if Harris wins.

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday ripped Vice President Kamala Harris over this week’s poor jobs numbers, warning if he’s not elected the country will collapse economically.

Mr. Trump cited to his supporters at a rally in Gastonia, North Carolina, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ October report of only 12,000 additional jobs and compared the current economic environment to President Herbert Hoover’s Depression.

“It’s usually like 200,000 or 250,000. Sometimes you have 300,000 or 400,000, but 12,000 jobs? I never heard that before.

“We lost nearly 30,000 private sector jobs. Think of that. And the jobs created were mostly government jobs. That’s easy. You just … hire 100,000 people this month.”

Mr. Trump called for a different direction, saying, “We want private jobs. … Nearly 50,000 manufacturing jobs were lost in a single month. I’ve never heard of these numbers.”

He later said, “I didn’t know Joe Biden is Herbert Hoover. I always said I would hate to be Herbert Hoover. This is like 1929 — the Great Depression. These are Depression-type numbers.”

Not surprisingly, the DNC-MSM has absolutely buried the absolutely anemic jobs numbers, it’s simply an extension of their turning a mild recession in 1992 into “the worst economy in 50 years,” while hiding its pre-election recovery, to get their man across the finish line.

More Trump:

Mr. Trump put much of the blame on Ms. Harris’ open border that’s let illegal immigrants flow in to take jobs from American citizens.

“One hundred percent of the job openings have gone to migrants, taking jobs from more than anybody else. And you haven’t seen the numbers. And I think your speakers should ask Washington for those numbers, because they’re really bad,” he said.

“They’ve taken the African American jobs … people that have done a great job. They’ve worked there for 20, 25 years, in different places and, to a lesser extent, Hispanic jobs. But large numbers of African Americans.”

Which is why: Who You Gonna Call? Trump Reveals Who He Will Phone on First Day in Office.

If he succeeds in winning back his old job, he will pick up the phone the first day and call… the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum. And it won’t just be to chit-chat and trade niceties—Trump said he will inform her that he will immediately impose massive tariffs unless she does her part to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into the U.S.

‘I haven’t met her, and I’m going to inform her on Day One or sooner, that if they don’t stop this onslaught of criminals and drugs coming into our country, I’m going to immediately impose a 25 percent tariff on everything they send into the United States of America,’ he said he would threaten.

The remark earned cheers from his rally crowd in North Carolina.

THIS IS CNN: Christiane Amanpour’s Name Games.

What had caught my attention but what I didn’t think worth mentioning at the time was that in the video and transcript, the nurse says that she thinks the alleged exploding food containers were left in residential areas “when the IOF is, you know, raiding homes and stuff.”

The IOF is an abbreviation for “Israeli occupation forces.” It’s a derogatory term used by anti-Israel partisans to refer to the Israeli military. Generally, people who use it see Israel as an illegitimate state—as you can see from the context, the term is used to describe Israeli troops of any kind.

I thought of that nurse’s interview again this afternoon when I watched CNN’s Christiane Amanpour interview a Palestinian and Israeli filmmaking team who oppose the demolition of unauthorized Palestinian structures built on an IDF training plot. (Israel’s Supreme Court approved the demolitions after it was proved that the structures were built well after the site was designated for the IDF.) A clip making the rounds showed Amanpour saying to the Arab member of the duo: “I understand why you would want to film what’s happening to your own villages from the settlers and the Israeli occupation forces.”

US SOLDIER INJURED EARLIER THIS YEAR ON GAZA PIER MISSION HAS DIED:

A US soldier who was critically injured over the summer while on the temporary Gaza pier mission died last week, the Army said Monday.

The soldier, 23-year-old Sgt. Quandarius Davon Stanley, was one of three US service members injured in non-combat incidents during the mission, though two were immediately returned to duty after suffering minor injuries. He was assigned to the 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary), out of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

Stanley was recently medically retired by his unit because his injuries meant he would be unable to continue military service, a defense official said. He died on October 31.

Welcome Back Carter, Ace of Spades wrote in May: “You Youngs may not remember Jimmy Carter’s ill-fated attempt to rescue his failing 1980 political campaign. At a late hour, he finally gave the greenlight for a special forces operation to rescue the hostages from Iranian Muslim fanatics. But the helicopters crashed in a dust-storm. It became emblematic of Carter’s ineffectual, feckless presidency. Now Biden’s got his own sandstorm. An American vessel used to unload humanitarian aid from ships into the Gaza Strip via a floating pier disconnected from a small boat tugging it this morning due to stormy seas, leading it to get stuck on the coast of Ashdod, eyewitnesses say. Another ship was then sent to try and extract the stuck vessel, but also got beached.”

Busted Gaza Pier Has All the Markings of a Joe Biden Op,” Jim Geraghty wrote back then. “The plan was to build a pier on the front door of a war zone, in the absolute minimally acceptable environmental conditions, and hope for the best? That has Joe Biden’s fingerprints all over it. Biden’s foreign-policy ideas always have this, ‘Guys, it’s so easy’ simplicity to them.”

WHY ARE THE DEMOCRATS SUCH A CESSPIT OF RACISM?

STICK IT TO SOROS: Los Angeles, stop street chaos and vote out woke DA George Gascón.

Nearly ten years ago, billionaire financier George Soros first channeled millions into local district attorney campaigns across the country.

Soft-on-crime prosecutors want:

Soros understands that focusing on local politics will eventually bring about the national changes he and his collaborators would love to see: drug legalization, open borders and mass immigration, the erosion of national sovereignty, the demise of capitalism as we know it — and, of course, soft-on-crime policies and bail reform.

This is how we all got stuck with fraudulent “prosecutors” like Matt Dugan in Pittsburgh,  Larry Krasner in Philadelphia, Kim Foxx in my own home town of Chicago, and of course Alvin “Let ‘Em Loose” Bragg in Manhattan.

That’s just a small sample of the group Soros and his allies hand-picked to hinder and ultimately collapse the American justice system.

There are now almost a hundred such “prosecutors” implanted across our country who are really wolves in sheep’s clothing — leftist ideologues who prioritize prosecuting our police officers over criminals.

George Gascón in Los Angeles, who’s up for re-election Tuesday, is one of these false prosecutors.

If you don’t know who George Gascón is — or care much about California — I understand.

But voter indifference is exactly what Soros and his accomplices are counting on.

Soros donated $2.5 million to Gascón’s campaign for Los Angeles DA back in 2020.

As Tom Cotton wrote in 2021: Recall, Remove & Replace Every Last Soros Prosecutor.

JOE ROGAN ENDORSES TRUMP:

The move comes on Election Day eve, and it’s unclear if it will change any hearts or minds. That work already might have been done by Rogan.

He recently interviewed Trump on his wildly popular podcast, an episode that generated more than 45 million views alone. That doesn’t include various YouTube clips, extensive exposure on X and countless podcast platforms.

Rogan also chatted with Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance in recent days. Both moves suggested Rogan was leaning in Trump’s direction, but he openly invited Vice President Kamala Harris onto his show, too.

She refused to meet his basic demands, opting for a wan “Saturday Night Live” appearance as a pop culture lifeline instead.

If only she had gotten on a plane and flown out to Austin to do the podcast. As Stephen Miller tweets, “If Harris does his podcast, he likely doesn’t endorse either of them. Oh well choices made.”

GUYS, WE’RE HERE FOR YOU IN SOLIDARITY. TAKE ALL THE DAYS YOU NEED, STARTING RIGHT NOW. FIGHT THE POWER! New York Times’ tech staff threatens strike during Election Day crunch.

Management says that the Guild has bogged down negotiations with what the paper sees as outlandish, even illegal, proposals. As Semafor previously reported, the Guild proposed a ban on scented products in break rooms, unlimited break time, and accommodations for pet bereavement, as well as mandatory trigger warnings in company meetings discussing events in the news.

The ghosts of H.L. Mencken and Lou Grant are roaring with laughter right now. Except for “accommodations for pet bereavement.” Clearly the otherwise tough techie Timesmen need space to mourn for the vicious state-mandated murder of Peanut.

THE LATE QUINCY JONES, A MAN OF MANY TALENTS:

The death of Quincy Jones, at the considerable age of ninety-one, represents not just the passing of a great American musical icon, but the departure of a truly remarkable man from the stage. The winner of an astounding twenty-eight Grammy awards, he excelled in so many different areas of music — from record production and film soundtrack composition to big band jazz and multi-instrumental playing — that it would not have been particularly surprising to discover that he had written operas or symphonies on his days off. That he accomplished endless feats over his seventy-five-year career, which included playing with everyone from Billie Holiday and Elvis to Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson, was almost taken for granted in his lifetime, but now that he has quit us, it is only appropriate to acknowledge just what an astonishing figure Jones really was.

There is an irony in his highest-profile achievement being as a producer, rather than a performer or composer in his own right, and that his work on Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Off The Wall and Bad turned Jackson into the most successful pop star that there had ever been. Even after all the endless (and often justified) controversy that involved Jackson, Jones’s peerless work on these multi-million selling albums, including steering Jackson to the most lucrative record of all time, in the form of Thriller, will deservedly be remembered as long as albums are bought. It made Jones an extremely rich man, and gave him the luxury of only pursuing projects that he wished to take on for the remainder of his life and career: these included everything from a self-parodying cameo in Austin Powers in Goldmember as himself to recording the score for Spielberg’s film The Color Purple.

We forget that the record industry was in a pre-MTV sales slump when Jones began work on Jackson’s Thriller. He had quite a brief for his engineers at the beginning of the project, telling them, “OK guys, we’re here to save the recorded music industry.” Mission accomplished!
