FAUXCAHONTAS ON WARPATH! Elizabeth Warren Has a Total Meltdown on CBS Over Illegals and Healthcare.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) had a meltdown Thursday morning when a CBS host challenged the Democratic Party’s denials about the Democrats wanting to provide free healthcare to illegal immigrants. During the interview, Tony Dokoupil confronted Warren with claims that Republicans say Democrats are fighting for taxpayer dollars to fund healthcare for illegal aliens.

Dokoupil stated, “I know that’s not strictly true, but there is a provision—”

Warren nearly blew a gasket and interrupted, practically shouting, “Not… Oh, excuse me. Not strictly true.”

When Dokoupil attempted to continue, she cut in again more forcefully, insisting, “It is a flat-out lie. It is a flat-out lie.”

In an attempt to be diplomatic, Dokoupil reworded his point again, saying, “The way that they frame it—” but Warren was adamant in her denial, asserting, “There is nothing in Medicaid, there is nothing in Medicare that permits one undocumented immigrant to get $1 of assistance.” When Dokoupil urged, “Senator, if you’d let me finish the question,” Warren retorted with emphasis, “None. Zero. Of course, I’m sorry.”

What she won’t tell you is that it was a provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill that closed the loophole to block federal dollars from being used to pay for the healthcare of illegal immigrants, and Democrats want to reopen the loophole.

Dokoupil appeared to know this and explained the Democratic counterproposal, saying, “Senator, sorry, in-in-in the Democratic, uh, counteroffer, the proposal for funding, there is a restoration of Medicaid benefits for certain noncitizens that it had been taken away in the big beautiful bill, as Republicans put it.”

Somebody is auditioning to remain in the starting lineup if Bari Weiss does indeed become head coach in the not-too-distant future.

ITS ORIGIN AND PURPOSE, STILL A TOTAL MYSTERY: Pictured: Manchester synagogue terrorist with suspected suicide belt who killed at least two before being shot by police.

This is the terrorist with a suspected suicide belt who killed at least two people outside a Manchester synagogue before being shot by police.

A car was driven into a crowd and a man stabbed at 9.31am on Yom Kippur — the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Laurence Taylor, the head of counter-terrorism policing, said the attack had been confirmed as terrorism.

He said police had made two further arrests and knew the attacker’s identity, but would not release the information at this stage.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said three other victims are in a serious condition after the attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall.

The force has now confirmed the suspect is also dead, after previously being unable to approach his body due to ‘suspicious items on his person’.

A picture of the alleged attacker showed a man with a beard and dark clothing standing outside the synagogue with unidentified objects strapped to his waist.

He can also be seen holding something in his hand.

Bomb disposal experts are at the scene, but GMP said a loud noise heard earlier in the day was officers gaining entry to his vehicle as a precaution.

Earlier, hero rabbi Daniel Walker barricaded worshippers inside the building after the suspect crashed into the gate and began stabbing ‘anyone and everyone’.

One witness described him moving from victim to victim in a ‘robotic’ manner ‘like he had a job to do’ – targeting ‘anyone’ wearing a kippah.

He then tried to force his way inside before being shot dead by armed police at 9.38am.

A senior security source, who worked in armed policing for decades, told the Daily Mail that the man’s suicide belt looked real.

At Power Line, Bill Glahn writes:

I know the picture is blurry, media accounts show a clearer image. Does he look “far right” to you? How about in the midst of a mental health crisis?

You can leave your thoughts in the comments section below. Because you can’t in the U.K., as local media have disabled comments sections.

As for me, I’m going with evil. Quoting from the Daily Mail,

Police sources told the Mail it was ‘too early’ to determine the attacker’s motivation.

So his motivation is not yet clear. Well, except for the painfully obvious.

Labour Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood feigns outrage:

It is of course an entirely performative gesture:

UPDATE: Origin and purpose still a total mystery:

MILTON FRIEDMAN IS STILL RUNNING THE SHOW:

As Kevin Williamson wrote in 2009, when Bernie Sanders made a similar Nordic-themed observation in the Boston Globe:

Sanders is particularly taken with the case of Finland, which he holds up as a model of what a long-term commitment to democratic socialism can produce.

* * * * * * * * *

A critic once asked Milton Friedman what he thought about the fact that Sweden has basically no poverty, and Friedman answered: We don’t have many poor Swedes in America, either.

Sanders acknowledges that the U.S. and Finland are radically different societies: Finland has a few million people overwhelmingly homogenous people packed into a relatively small country; we’re diverse, sprawling, and dynamic. What Sanders can’t quite manage to do, and what his editors at the Globe apparently did not ask him to do, is to progress to the logical follow-up question: Even if we assume that Finnish institutions are desirable, what reason is there to believe that Finnish-style institutions will produce Finnish-style results in the United States, which is a rather different country? There is no reason to believe that Finnish inputs will produce Finnish outputs anywhere other than Finland, and especially not in societies that are radically different from Finland. This is why airlifting copies of the U.S. Constitution all over Africa will not turn Mombasa into Greenwich or Lagos into Austin.

Even making the comparison on Sanders’s own terms, though, his argument is weak: A 2004 Timbro study calculated that if Sweden were to join the United States, it would be the sixth-poorest state; France would be the fifth-poorest. About 40 percent of Swedish households would be considered low-income by U.S. standards.

And unlike previous socialists, he probably won’t be making the trains run on time:

WHY TAKE CHANCES? ICE to police Bad Bunny Super Bowl show.

This year’s Super Bowl will be patrolled by immigration enforcement officials, it has emerged after Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny was announced as the half-time show headliner.

Illegal migrants attending the concert will be found, apprehended, and detained, a Trump administration official warned.

The Latin Grammy award-winning artist, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was accused of hypocrisy for accepting the coveted slot after boycotting the US during his most recent tour in a protest against Domald Trump’s immigration policies.

Ocasio had said he refused to perform in the US over fears his fans could be detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Ocasio also referred to ICE agents as “sons of b—-es,” on social media, saying they should leave “people alone and working”.

In a pointed warning to the rapper and his fans, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official, told The Telegraph: “There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else.”

Corey Lewandowski, an adviser at DHS, told The Benny Show podcast: “We will find you. We will apprehend you. We will put you in a detention facility, and we will deport you.”

Under Mr Trump’s hardline immigration policy, ICE agents have been carrying out mass arrests and deportations, often targeting the Latino community.

Immigration officers have carried out raids in areas with large immigrant populations, specifically targeting locations where undocumented [sic–Ed] migrants convene to look for work.

In accordance with the prophecy:

NO ONE CAN SUCCEED LIKE DOCTOR ROBERTS: The One About the Illegal Immigrant School Superintendent.

What can you do except tip your cap to a truly exceptional figure? In my earliest days here, I wrote an ode to George Santos (then a Republican representative from New York, presently a jailbird) titled “In Praise of Hilarious Frauds.” How can you ask me to feel any differently about a true gold-star achiever such as Roberts? Any old fool can overstay a student visa and live a life in the shadows nowadays, but it takes real shamelessness and a special kind of entrepreneurial grift to do that while asking for civic responsibility over the education of 30,000 public-school students.

I haven’t even mentioned the final, delightful twist in this whole story: As it turns out, Dr. Roberts, Des Moines’s top educator, isn’t even a doctor. He fabricated more than just his immigration status; he fabricated his educational qualifications as well. (He pretended to have a Ph.D. from Morgan State University, when in fact he has nothing at all. But apparently he is a very sharp dresser.)

My friend Iowahawk announced on Twitter/X this morning that “Doctor” Ian Roberts is “the greatest charming grifter to fleece dimwitted gullible Iowans since Professor Harold Hill.” I have to nod in vigorous approval at the sheer chutzpah required for an illegal alien to take the job of head of a red state capital’s public school system — proof that immigrants do the sorts of jobs that Americans just won’t do. Hey, Ian, don’t be blue: You can always try getting a job here in Chicago if you manage to slip away from ICE once again — the CTU will hire anybody.

Meanwhile, Power Line’s Bill Glahn spots “New woes for Iowa Man:”

From CBS-8 (Des Moines),

Federal authorities file gun charge against former Des Moines school superintendent Ian Roberts.

Details,

According to a news release from the Department of Justice, Roberts, 54, made an initial appearance Thursday before a United States Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.

That news release can be read here. The complaint can be read here. The complaint (pp. 3-4) documents Roberts’ immigration history. Roberts’ hold a valid and current Guyana passport (p. 7, paragraph 21). Several additional firearms were found in a search of Roberts’ Des Moines home.

And: “Roberts also wrote on his LinkedIn profile that he attended MIT’s Sloan School of Management, one of the most prestigious business schools in the country. Des Moines school officials echoed that claim in a November 2024 blog post about the superintendent. But an MIT spokesperson said the school has no record of Roberts attending.”

As Glahn wrote in an earlier post about Roberts, “‘MIT’? If you are just going to make up fake academic credentials, go big or go home.”

DISPATCHES FROM THE MEMORY HOLE:

HOLLYWOOD IN TOTO: Why The Shining Never Loses Its Shock Value.

There is a great deal of mystery to many scenes, but the film offers riches of subtext and interpretations to ponder. More importantly, it’s hugely entertaining, hypnotic and an intensely terrifying work of art. Kubrick’s film holds its secrets close to the vest, but few films this influential are still so potent.

There’s a noteworthy sequence at the midpoint, where Wendy hears Jack murmuring loudly from a nightmare. She runs to him down vast hallways and the camera tracks with her; as she sprints down a seemingly endless series of turns and corners, the viewer feels trapped.

Like a mouse in a maze or Wendy and her son in the hotel’s maze, the audience begins to share their sense of isolation. The Overlook Hotel is grand and spacious, but Kubrick strangely gives us the feel of claustrophobia.

Once Wendy reaches Jack, he awakens from a horrible dream, which is described in a tortured, regretful manner. This scene may be key to Nicholson’s brilliantly stylized performance. From the first moment we meet Jack, he seems meek, holding back the figurative demons that have plagued him from alcoholism and physically harming his son.

It appears The Overlook is possessing Jack since he first walked through the front door. Jack’s recollection of his nightmare to Wendy is a moment of clarity and empathy breaking through. Soon thereafter, his possession grows, and he again seems to be wearing a mask of sanity.

Nicholson’s work ranges from understated and darkly comic to theatrically broad. It always works.

Having been an absolute Kubrick obsessive in college, not surprisingly, I’ve seen The Shining loads of times on every video media, but I hadn’t seen it on the big screen until about 15 years ago, when it played around Halloween at the Cinemark in San Jose’s Santana Row, and I went with my wife. I eventually noticed that we were watching two entirely different movies. She was terrified by the plot and the film’s creepy tension; I was chuckling at a subversive deconstruction of a horror movie that contained some of Stanley and Jack’s greatest hits: News Flash: The Shining Is Actually A Comedy.

(Though my wife totally concurred with James Lileks, who once wrote about the film’s “biggest question of all: why did it require going to a mountain resort and spending time in evil isolation to make him take an axe to Shelley Duvall? I’d have been tempted on day two of the marriage.”)

THIS IS CNN: Jane Fonda Ties CNN To Anti-Trump Hollywood Group, And Dana Bash Is All In.

It’s not at all surprising that a CNN newsreader would immediately eschew even a scintilla of objectivity and declare, “we’ll take it,” given that CNN has never met a limousine leftist it didn’t admire.

Fonda’s “a modern-day force in Democratic politics,” according to the L.A. Times. But she was of course, she’s been a force in the Democratic party for decades prior:

DISPATCHES FROM THE DOOM GOBLIN: Israeli military arrests Greta Thunberg, flotilla activists after intercepting dozens of boats.

Israeli naval forces intercepted 39 vessels from a Gaza-bound aid flotilla on Thursday, detaining dozens of activists — including international climate activist Greta Thunberg and several European lawmakers, The Associated Press reported.

The Global Sumud Flotilla, which set out across the Mediterranean with more than 40 boats carrying about 500 activists, was the largest yet to attempt to break Israel’s blockade of the enclave, according to the AP.

The flotilla has since been reduced to a single vessel still headed toward Gaza. Organizers with the Global Sumud Flotilla said on X that the boat was last tracked only a few miles off Gaza’s coast before contact was lost. Activists told the AP that they believed the flotilla’s size would make it harder for Israeli forces to intercept every vessel.

Photos and surveillance footage captured the moment Israeli soldiers in helmets and night vision goggles boarded the flotilla. A photo from Israel’s foreign ministry showed Thunberg, the most prominent of the flotilla’s passengers, accompanied by soldiers following the interception. Israeli officials said those detained included Thunberg, former Barcelona Mayor Ada Colau and European Parliament member Rima Hassan, according to the AP.

Israel’s foreign ministry said on X that the activists were “safe and in good health” and would be transferred to Israel to be deported to Europe.

But not before they tossed their smartphones overboard while their ship was being boarded:

But, how dare they!

OLD AND BUSTED: How Joe Biden Is Positioning Himself as a Modern FDR.

Time Magazine, October 28th, 2020.

The New Hotness? How Joy Reid is positioning herself as a modern FDR!

Heh, indeed.™ But does Reid know she’s echoing FDR’s 1944 State of the Union address, which retroactively smeared Calvin Coolidge (PBUH) as a fascist?

FDR ended that speech with one of the most disgusting exhortations against his political foes — and liberty itself — ever offered by an American president in a major address. He said, in part:

One of the great American industrialists of our day—a man who has rendered yeoman service to his country in this crisis-recently emphasized the grave dangers of “rightist reaction” in this Nation. All clear-thinking businessmen share his concern. Indeed, if such reaction should develop—if history were to repeat itself and we were to return to the so-called “normalcy” of the 1920′s—then it is certain that even though we shall have conquered our enemies on the battlefields abroad, we shall have yielded to the spirit of Fascism here at home.

Ah yes, if we go back to the 1920s, an era of rampant prosperity and expanding liberty we will have surrendered to Fascism. That is grotesque.

War is peace, freedom is slavery, and it’s all happening in accordance with the prophecy:
