SOCIALIST STEALS ELECTION, CIVIL WAR TO FOLLOW?

Barack Obama’s Secretary of State John Kerry explicitly rejected the Monroe Doctrine — a move certainly approved by his boss — and now parts of Latin America are turning into a playground for China and Russia.

MORE TO COME:

LEE SMITH: How Barack Obama Ended Normalcy in American Politics.

Obama got her the vice presidential nod even when she was forced to drop out of the primary race after hitting just 3 percent in the polls. Jill Biden objected—Harris had called her husband a racist! The First Lady’s reported recent tantrums show that even after four years, she never fully grasped the arrangement the party had made with her husband. Biden was just an imperfect placeholder for Obama, and it was only a matter of time before the superior avatar would be slotted in.

Mainstreaming the psychological modalities and media techniques of the Manson family is not normal in America. But then again, as Obama’s biographer David Garrow explained, ‘He’s not normal.’

The question is when, exactly, did it become clear to Obama that it was time for Harris to finally replace Biden? Was it after Biden’s disastrous debate with Donald Trump? After the attempted assassination of Trump? No, it seems the countdown officially began Oct. 7.

NO. Republicans for Harris! “I’m a former Trump voter. I love the Constitution. I’m voting for Harris.”

MORE IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER: People are overdosing on injectable weight-loss drugs, FDA warns.

The FDA has received reports of dosing errors involving compounded semaglutide injectable products dispensed in multiple-dose vials, resulting in patients seeking medical attention or requiring hospitalization, the agency stated.

Dosing errors came as a result of people measuring and self-administering incorrect amounts, and health care providers miscalculating doses of the cheaper, compounded versions of weight-loss drugs like Wegovy, the agency said Friday in an alert.

Overdose symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fainting, headache, migraine, dehydration, acute pancreatitis and gallstones, according to the FDA.

A majority of the reports had patients mistakenly drawing up more than the prescribed dose from a multiple-dose vial, self-administering five to 20 times more than the intended dose of semaglutide. Many reports involved patients unfamiliar with how to measure the intended dose using a syringe.

Mass-marketing multiple-dose vials of injectable medicine doesn’t seem like such a good idea.

WILL THE REAL KAMALA HARRIS PLEASE STAND UP?

A better question would be whether there is a core Kamala Harris aside from ambition.

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): It’s not “back to the government.” They never belonged to the government. And given the government’s record, I’m not sure a responsible person would sell them a gun.

BREAKING: COMPANY THAT CENSORS SEARCH RESULTS IS PRO-CENSORSHIP.

Don’t use Google.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: In Theory, Someone Will Eventually Be Kamala Harris’s Running Mate. “Democrats are in what is no doubt a very weird place right now. On the surface, they’re at least pretending to be bubbly and enthusiastic about the OH SO AWESOME sudden anointing of Vice President Kamala Harris as their nominee. They’re selling it too. The Dems are quite adept at operating in a purely fictional environment, after all. These are the same people who just spent three-and-a-half years pretending that Joe Biden had a functioning brain. They’ve got mad acting skills.”

JOANNE JACOBS: New Title IX LGBTQ+ rules set off ‘race to the Supreme Court.’ “The new Title IX also would weaken due-process protections for male students accused of sexual misconduct, write Zach Montague and Erica L. Green in the New York Times. It widens the definition of sexual harassment — repeatedly using the wrong pronouns could qualify — sets a lower standard of proof and ends the Trump-era requirement for hearings in which accused students or their lawyers could question accusers. A single administrator could be both investigator and decision maker.”

STILL NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME: Tesla analyst nearly crashes while using Full Self-Driving.

“The Model Y accelerated through an intersection as the car in front of us had only partly completed a right turn,” Stein wrote in a report to clients Monday. “My quick intervention was absolutely required to avoid an otherwise certain accident.”

Stein, who maintained his rating and $215 price target, emerged from the experience “befuddled at what Tesla might show” at an unveiling of robotaxi prototypes in October. Musk said last week that the company decided to delay the event by about two months, confirming an earlier Bloomberg News report.

Tesla didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Stein’s report. Musk posted Monday on X that the carmaker is deploying an updated version of Full Self-Driving, or FSD, which doesn’t make the company’s vehicles autonomous.

Musk has placed greater emphasis on FSD and Tesla’s broader artificial intelligence efforts as sales of its electric vehicles have slowed. The chief executive officer’s messaging has helped support a stock that had sunk more than 40% for the year as of mid-April. The shares were down 12% as of last week’s close and climbed Monday after Morgan Stanley designated Tesla its new top pick among U.S. auto stocks.

Stein gave FSD a try earlier in April, following Tesla’s first-quarter earnings call, and again this month. He wrote up a mixed review the first time around — “stunningly good, but not useful today” — and summed up the second test run as “no better, arguably worse.”

Full self-driving always seems to be just one or two more big software updates away.

SHOCKING: 2 Children Dead, 9 Injured in Mass Stabbing at UK Taylor Swift-Themed Event. “A 17-year-old male from Banks in Lancashire, who is originally from Cardiff, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and has been taken to a police station where he will be interviewed by detectives.”

Update: There seems to be some confusion about whether the suspect, Ali Al-Shakati, was an immigrant or not.

CUE THE WORLD’S SMALLEST VIOLIN: Wagner Group Column Mangled In Mali. “Remember Africa’s League of Assholes, the three Sahel nations (Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso) run by military regimes backed by Moscow mentioned in a LinkSwarm a week back? Yeah, Wagner’s fighting for them. And in Mali, a column of them using the same naked convoy tactics that have gotten so many Russians killed in Ukraine just got a bunch of them killed in Mali.”

GREAT MOMENTS IN FACT-CHECKING:

Update: “Meta has now removed the label and says it was a ‘false positive’ in their system.”

The false positives only seem to go in one direction and get corrected only after the damage is done.

More: “Unlike Community Notes on 𝕏, Meta’s ‘Fact Checkers’ are a small group of hand selected corporate media journalists, labels dramatically reduce the distribution of content and having them applied to your posts can destroy your entire page.”

Advantage: Elon Musk’s X.

BIDENOMICS IS WORKING: In more than 200 U.S. cities, $1 million only gets you a starter home.

A typical entry-level home in the U.S. costs roughly $200,000. But in a growing number of cities, that would only cover the down payment.

With housing in short supply around the country and the stiffest mortgage rates in years, you need at least $1 million to buy a starter home in 237 cities, according to a Zillow analysis. That’s a hefty sum for a place to live that’s defined in the report as being in the lowest third of home values in a given region. The new data marks a significant rise from five years ago, when only 84 U.S. cities had starter homes that cost seven figures.

How did we get here?

The pandemic exacerbated an existing housing shortage in cities across the U.S., which is most pronounced in Boston; Portland, Oregon, and Sacramento, California, according to Zillow. Despite robust residential home construction in 2023, the 1.4 million homes that were built do not sufficiently close the gap between available units and the number of home seekers in the U.S.

Normally, this kind of market distortion would work itself out as supply catches up to demand. But California in particular is hostile to new home construction.

THE HIGH PRICE OF LAX FOREST MAINTENANCE: The ‘extraordinary’ growth of California’s largest fire raises alarms. It could burn for months. “Experts say the fire’s explosive growth is due to a perfect storm of hot, dry conditions, combustible vegetation and a landscape that hasn’t burned in decades. The remote terrain has made it challenging for crews to gain access to the blaze’s swelling perimeter, and the firefight could be long and arduous as they struggle to gain a foothold.”

VIDEO: Harris Unburdened by Knowledge, Facts in Latest Word Salad. “I never thought I’d feel pity for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who wouldn’t know what ‘security’ was if it snuck across the border and laced his Wheaties with a lethal dose of fentanyl. But watch him over Harris’s shoulder. He seems to be thinking, ‘And I thought my old boss was an idiot.'”
