CHANGE: Boeing Board Names Kelly Ortberg President and CEO. “He began his career in 1983 as an engineer at Texas Instruments, and then joined Rockwell Collins in 1987 as a program manager and held increasingly important leadership positions at the company prior to becoming its president and CEO in 2013.”

HEATHER MAC DONALD: Girling the Boy Scouts.

The value of an all-boys organization was self-evident to the Boy Scouts’ founders and to the Scout leaders who followed them. Masculine comradeship underlies males’ willingness to undertake military and civic sacrifice. Boys compete with one another, torment one another, but also sometimes elevate one another. They seek adult males to emulate—ideally their fathers but, in the absence of their own father, a father figure embodying masculine virtue. That father figure can even be imaginary; boys’ aspirations are fired by tales of male courage and the accomplishment of great feats.

Today, American boys are plagued by fatherlessness, both real and symbolic. Whereas in the early twentieth century, boys lost their biological fathers to industrial accidents and tuberculosis, now they lose them to parental irresponsibility. In 2022, 40 percent of all American children were born to single mothers. Black newborns faced a catastrophic 69.3 percent illegitimacy rate, while more than 53 percent of Hispanic children were born to unmarried females. Whites had a 27 percent illegitimacy rate; the rate among the white underclass is twice that. Already in 2016, 59 percent of births to white women who did not finish high school or obtain a GED occurred outside of marriage. Boys suffer the most in the typical fatherless household, with its lack of structure, parade of shiftless boyfriends, and inconsistent discipline. (There are exceptions to this chaos, of course.)

The disintegration of the family coincided with the devalorization of males, making the possibility of even a symbolic father figure remote.

None of this is by accident — and do read the whole thing.

HOW’S THAT #DEFUNDTHEPOLICE WORKIN’ OUT FOR YA?

Kelly’s brown-nosing for the veep slot is impressive for his enthusiasm but does Harris really want people to remember her record as attorney general?

JD VANCE IS WEIRD:

Cheap fake, genuinely weird.

MEANWHILE, OVER AT VODKAPUNDIT: Sorry, But Kamala Harris Is Not ‘Weirdly Unpopular.’ “As you’re probably already aware, James O’Keefe claimed another Lefty scalp this week, with secret video of DNC compliance manager Joyce DeCerce calling Vice President Kamala Harris ‘weirdly unpopular’ and that he doesn’t think she ‘would win this year.’ Damning stuff — or is it?”

BOONDOGGLE OR GRIFT? YES! Austin Electric Busses Busted. “In many ways, busses are a better fit for electrification than cars: Regular routes plus nighttime storage at a bus yard than can be equipped with industrial strength chargers should theoretically eliminate the range and recharging anxiety still common for many electric car owners. But poor range and lousy quality show that electric busses (at least the ones Austin bought) aren’t ready for prime time.”

Lower TCO was supposed to be a big advantage of EVs over ICE vehicles but that hasn’t panned out.

USING FACTS AND LOGIC IS A MOST UNCOUTH WAY TO ARGUE: Pete Buttigieg dared Americans to look up crime data. I did and it’s not pretty for Democrats.

Leveraging the COVID pandemic as a pretext, Democrats either stopped booking criminals or released them early, claiming they’d face imminent death from COVID if they were to stay locked up. For example, Cornelius Haney was released from prison early over COVID when he was arrested for the murder of a 21-year-old woman in Denver. Two days after Jerry Crawford was released from prison to reduce the spread of COVID, he was arrested for shooting an 18-year-old man to death.

While Buttigieg and other Democrats try to memory-hole reality, we saw a terrifying rise of left-wing political violence perpetrated by activists, including Antifa, with criminals taking advantage of soft-on-crime legislation, such as a ban on police vehicular pursuits in Washington state and downgrading serious felonies by George Soros-backed prosecutors in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

When Biden took office, cities like Philadelphia and Indianapolis broke all-time records with 561 homicides and 271 homicides respectively. Portland, Oregon, meanwhile, hit its all-time homicide high in 2022.

It wasn’t just homicides that soared.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Whiplash Narrative — Kamala’s Tough but Don’t Pick on Her! “Per the latest leftist fairy tale, Donald Trump is quaking in his dress shoes now that he’s facing off against Madame Veep. However, he isn’t supposed to challenge her on anything she has ever said or done in her political career.”

SHE’LL HAVE A PEN AND A PHONE:

Harris didn’t come right out and say, “I am the Senate!” but give her time.

INTERVIEW: Fox News anchor Bret Baier reveals the ‘rumor’ about why Biden REALLY dropped out of the race… who’s taking over in the White House… and issues an ultimatum to his critics.

Baier believes it is imperative to determine why, after weeks of resistance and pledges from Biden’s inner circle that he would remain in the 2024 race, that the president suddenly decided to end his political career.

‘The White House says there are no problems [with the president] and he’s still A-Ok. Yet he stepped down from a race that he said he was never going to step down from. And there are still questions about whether he’s going to go the whole distance for the five-plus months remaining in the presidency,’ Baier said.

‘Anything is possible now,’ he added. ‘I don’t sense that the 25th amendment is going to be launched anytime soon. But that’s not to say that there’s not some major health incident that changes that dynamic. It’s day-to-day.’

If Biden is fit to serve but was forced off the ticket and effectively sidelined as president, that should be properly understood as a coup. If he’s unfit to serve, the 25th should have been used for an orderly and transparent transfer of power.

Instead, we’ve gotten real banana republic antics and palace intrigue from the party that won’t stop yammering about saving our democracy and protecting our precious norms.

SERIOUSLY, IS THERE A REAL KAMALA HARRIS?

The list doesn’t just go on — it’s subject to change again. After the election, of course.

LOVIN’ IT? Bidenflation Finally Takes a Bite Out of McDonald’s. “Most tellingly, while foot traffic was down at locations that had been open for at least one year — ie, fewer customers — those who did come spent more because of price hikes.”
