CHANGE: ‘Black men love Trump’ dooms Democrats with 42% support.

In a new Cygnal survey shared with Secrets, Trump has a shocking 42% approval rating from black men, a massive edge over any past Republican president.

Brock McCleary, Cygnal vice president of polling, told Secrets, “Forty-two percent of black men approving of Trump’s job so far is no small thing. Unlike Democrats’ approach previously, this isn’t about placation or offering new attractive policies with no follow-through. His popularity and approval surges because he does the things he says he’ll do — and that’s a breath of fresh air for everyone.”

McCleary, who polled for Trump in 2016 and Vivek Ramaswamy last year, added, “In the pre-Trump era, these numbers for a Republican would be aspirational rather than realistic. In the thicket of this new Trump era, these gains among black Americans are noteworthy and certainly beyond a threshold of statistical normality. It boils down to follow-through, which is the most elusive of traits for politicians.”

Even if Cygnal’s numbers are off by 50% — nearly impossible for any pollster not named J. Ann Selzer — Trump has a Reagan-like approval rating from black men. If Cygnal’s numbers are correct, Trump is performing significantly better with them than Reagan did.

The first weeks of the Trump administration have brought the reality of Democrats’ situation into a harsh light, according to conversations with more than 20 operatives and elected officials. Party members and officials fall broadly into two camps, said those familiar with such discussions. One camp has wanted to take a cautious approach, and the other has wanted to be more aggressive. But both are vexed.

About 10 days ago, Schumer was on a private call with governors, who urged him to unify senators in fighting back against Trump’s nominees. The fact that some of Trump’s cabinet nominees received Democratic votes angered many in the party.

In an interview, Schumer said the governors wanted senators to vote “no” on all nominees.

“Some of my caucus didn’t want to do that, but basically I agreed with [the governors] and said, I’m going to urge people to vote no on every nominee, and we’re going to work hard,” he said, adding that Democrats did unanimously oppose Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought.

For all the good it did them, practically. Politically, Democrat obstructionism on another popular issue again puts them on the wrong side of an easy 80/20, as Mary Katharine Ham pointed out.

Complicating the conversation are conflicting views about how to interpret Democratic losses in November. Some argue that losing the White House and both chambers of Congress, as well as Trump’s dominance with white working-class voters and improvement with Black and Latino voters should be a wake-up call for a party overhaul. Her entire “analysis” is petty and personal insults about the men she covers. Contempt just absolutely drips off her tongue in every sentence.

To Swisher, they’re just scared little boys who want people to love them. They have “little dick energy.” And so on.

Psychologists have a norm that they don’t diagnose people who aren’t their patients. But she has a story for each billionaire whose politics she doesn’t like and knows exactly why they became who they are.

This is the person that the media crowned as perhaps their most prominent “tech reporter.” It’s all psychobabble drivel not held to any kind of evidentiary standards, obviously motivated by pettiness and contempt disguised as journalism.

This would radicalize anyone against the media.

Given the current condition of the dinosaur legacy media, it’s radical to support them. Silicon Valley got “normalized” against the media.
