HOUSE GOPERS WANT TO JERK NEA’S FEDERAL CHARTER: Congress created the National Education Association in 1906, not as a labor union, but as a professional group dedicated to improving American public education. The NEA long ago left that vision in the dust, became a straight-up labor union, according to the IRS, grew into one of the most powerful and lucrative sources of campaign cash for Democrats, and turned American schools into propaganda mills for the far-Left agenda.

All of which was solidly in place by the time the Gingrich Revolution of 1994 resulted in voters giving Republicans majorities in both houses of Congress for the first time in 40 years. The GOP kept those majorities, with only brief respites, until 2006. Meanwhile, the NEA (along with the American Federation of Teachers of the AFL-CIO) continued waxing stronger. But nobody among the Republicans thought to demand the NEA live up to its charter.

Along came 2010’s Tea Party Revolution and by 2014, Republicans again controlled Congress. Still, nothing was said about the NEA’s charter. Come 2018, voters handed Congress back to the Democrats. Now it appears likely at least the House will be returned to GOP control in November, and if that happens, odds are good the NEA’s long abuse of its congressional charter will become an issue, thanks to GOP Representatives Scott Fitzgerald of Wisconsin and Jim Banks of Indiana.

They, and 16 other House GOPers, have introduced HR 7510, the National Education Association Charter Repeal Act. Losing its charter won’t do a thing to change the NEA’s status as a union, but making it an issue in tandem with the Parents Revolt against CRT and sexual indoctrination of the youngest elementary school kids could open the door to dramatic and desperately needed educational reforms, much as partial birth abortion helped lead to additional restrictions that set the stage for a potential landmark Supreme Court ruling coming soon.

YOU SAY YOU WANT A REVOLUTION II: Instapunditeers of a certain age will recall Kate Millett and her “Sexual Politics,” which was a kind of scripture for so-called “second-wave feminism” in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

But far fewer folks of any age know about Millet and her 11 women friends who met regularly in Greenwich Village to plot the downfall of the American family. Carrie Gress knows a great deal about them, including this chant with which the proper mood was set for each gathering:

“Why are we here today?” the chairwoman asked.

“To make revolution,” they answered.

“What kind of revolution?” she replied.

“The Cultural Revolution,” they chanted.

“And how do we make Cultural Revolution?” she demanded.

“By destroying the American family!” they answered.

“How do we destroy the family?” she came back.

“By destroying the American patriarch,” they cried exuberantly.

“And how do we destroy the American patriarch?” she probed.

“By taking away his power!”

“How do we do that?”

“By destroying monogamy!” they shouted.

“How can we destroy monogamy?”

“By promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution, abortion, and homosexuality!” they resounded.

Gress emphasizes the Marxist roots of Millet’s dirty dozen and points to the incredible success they have had in revolutionizing American culture, media and politics. And isn’t it interesting how the Marxist dialectical analytical structure is so easily adaptable to any group with a gripe, real or imagined.

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): Flashback: Kate Millett’s Tedious Madness.

Also: Kate Millett’s sister, Mallory, on just how crazy her sister was. “At one point, in 1973, I found myself alone with her in an apartment in Berkeley, California where she did not allow me to sleep for five days as she raged at the world and menaced me physically.”

I’m beginning to think that most lefty movements are just about broken people trying to manipulate the rest of us so they can feel good about their broken selves.

THE PEASANTS ARE REVOLTING. YOU SAID IT — THEY STINK ON ICE! Even Californians Are Revolting Against High Taxes: New Poll.

You know the Democratic Party is in trouble when even California voters start to revolt against its policies. And that’s the finding of new polling from the Public Policy Institute of California.

A whopping 72% of California adults think they pay more taxes than they should, the new survey finds.

This isn’t a partisan phenomenon. Almost half of Democrats, 48%, agree, in addition to an overwhelming majority of Republicans and independents.

That’s a lot of unpatriotic Joe Biden supporters, according to Joe Biden.

YOU SAY YOU WANT A REVOLUTION: Well, Critical Race Theorists don’t typically come right out and say they want to destroy America, but, as J. Allen Cartwright makes clear this morning on The Federalist, violence is the inevitable outcome when CRT is carried to its logical ends.

And no wonder when all you hear is that “you live in an oppressive society, with built-in systems of oppression that prevent you from altering that society, and have no way to be successful within the system while staying true to yourself. Your only alternative is to destroy that system,” Cartwright observes.

EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY: The U.S. supply of natural gas is vastly depleted. “Before you jump to the wrong conclusion based on the title, don’t worry. The United States is nowhere near running out of natural gas that is available to be extracted from the ground and put into production. The oil and gas industry has identified more untapped natural gas resources on U.S. soil and off of our coasts than we could possibly use for the next century. But we don’t pipe natural gas from the wells straight to your homes and businesses. The gas is stored in huge underground tanks until it’s ready to be transported to its final distribution locations. Those reservoirs are currently at the lowest levels we’ve seen in years.”

Plus: “Shutting down our pipelines now and refusing drilling permits is a set of chickens that will come home to roost far more quickly than you might imagine. We saw an example of that in January, though we thankfully didn’t bottom out. When you preach to us about renewables, you are literally playing with people’s ability to survive the winter. The wind doesn’t automatically blow any harder in the winter just because you need more juice. The sun doesn’t shine any more brightly. In fact, it generally does the opposite.”

A NEW USAGE THAT I DON’T LIKE: I see people, and even advertisements, referring to tax refunds as “tax returns.” No. A tax return is the form you file with the government. A tax refund is what you get when you sent them too much money and they send it back after having received an interest free loan. I get that they’re “returning” your money, but still, no. You file a return, and then (maybe) you get a refund.

NATURAL IMMUNITY: Never Had Covid? You May Hold The Key To Beating The Virus.

More than half of Americans may have never had Covid, according to U.S. government data, leaving scientists wondering whether those who’ve avoided the novel coronavirus might actually be immune to the virus altogether. This could offer new clues into how to attack Covid.

At this stage in the pandemic, people may be immune due to vaccines, a past infection, or a combination of both. There’s also evidence that, in rare instances, some people may be Covid-immune without infection or vaccination at all. . . .

Swadling, along with colleagues in London, published a study in the journal Nature last November evaluating a group of U.K. health care workers during the first wave of the pandemic. They found evidence that some of the health care workers exposed to the virus were able to rid their bodies of it even before producing Covid-specific antibodies.

It turned out that for those people, exposure to other human coronaviruses, such as those that cause cold-like symptoms, had helped their bodies to fight off the novel coronavirus. This is because T-cells, a critical part of the body’s immune response, were able to recognize and target genetic elements of prior seasonal coronaviruses that also happened to be present in SARS-CoV-2. That meant their bodies were able to attack the novel virus without the production of new antibodies specific to it.

Notably, the T-cells that those health care workers produced targeted a different part of the virus than the T-cells did in people who have a detectable Covid infection. Swadling said the while the T-cells produced by both vaccines and a detectable Covid-19 infection attack the frequently mutating spike protein of a virus, these health care workers’ T-cells instead targeted the virus’ internal machinery. Researchers call these T-cells that appear effective against different coronaviruses “cross-reactive.”

As InstaPundit readers will remember, I’ve been suggesting this for some time.

WELL, OF COURSE: Democrats are campaigning on Jan. 6 hypocrisy.

As BLM-Antifa thugs ramp up activities ahead of the midterms, the hypocrisy and mammoth overreach of the Justice Department’s investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, riot is coming into focus.

The first acquittal of a Jan. 6 defendant who was “waved” into the Capitol by cops is the latest sign that the so-called “armed insurrection” is not living up to the Democrats’ hype.

After the biggest probe in FBI history, not one charge of insurrection has been brought against any Trump supporter at the Capitol.

We are reminded with sickening regularity of the double standard of justice applied to BLM–Antifa’s insurrectionists, who tore up cities and attacked cops and federal property in the run-up to the 2020 election and have suffered few consequences.

In fact, they are more likely to be rewarded. Last week, the DOJ settled a lawsuit brought by civil-rights activists over the violent riots outside the White House from May 29 through June 3, 2020.

These “mostly peaceful protests,” as The Washington Post describes them, were so violent that then-President Donald Trump and his family had to be rushed to an underground bunker after the historic St John’s Church was set ablaze.

Dozens of federal officers were injured when they were pelted with bricks, rocks, caustic liquids, frozen water bottles, Molotov cocktails, rental scooters, fireworks and bottles of urine by rioters operating under the banner of Black Lives Matter — or, as BLM is now called by anyone who knows where the money went, “Buy Large Mansions.”

The national media lapped up the Dems’ fake narrative of protesters brutally ejected from the park so that Trump could pose for a photo.

That lie lingers, despite a detailed report by the Inspector General of the Department of the Interior, which found that Park Police did not use tear gas and only cleared the square to allow a contractor “to safely install anti-scale fencing in response to destruction of property and injury to officers.”

Like most lies, it lingers because the press wants it to linger.

GOODER AND HARDER, LOS ANGELES: Convicted murderer praises DA Gascon: ‘I’m going to get that n—–’s name on my face.’

“I’m going to get that n—–’s name on my face. That’s a champ right there. F—in’ Gascón,” says gang member Luis Angel Hernandez in a jailhouse phone call…

According to a law enforcement source, Hernandez shot and killed a delivery person for a marijuana delivery service during an armed robbery in 2018. He is a member of the OTF gang…

“This s–t looking real good. Now we got a new DA in LA … so they’re going to drop a gang of, um, like my gun enhancement, my gang enhancement,” he says in the jailhouse phone call. “My gang enhancement is 10 years, fool, for being a gang member. And then the gun in the commission of a crime.”…

“That’s the n—– right there, bro. He’s making historic changes for all of us, fool. I’m just grateful, fool. Like, I got good news off that s–t,” Hernandez says in the audio.

Hernandez pleaded guilty to murder and the personal use of a firearm. He will be eligible for youthful offender parole, which would limit his time in prison to 25 years.
