THAT’S NOT FUNNY: Bill Burr Struck with Elon Musk Derangement Syndrome.

Bill Burr seems immune to Trump Derangement Syndrome.

The stand-up avoids overtly political narratives, focusing on life’s little hypocrisies.

Or big ones.

He’s no Colbert, Kimmel or Oliver, and he hasn’t spent the past eight-plus years laser-focused on the “Apprentice” star’s every move.

He’s also not afraid to poke the woke bear. He did just that via Netflix’s “Paper Tiger” special.

Lately, though, Burr has been taking a hard turn to the Left. He dismissed the notion that California Democrats were to blame for some of the wildfires’ damage, for example.

The facts scream otherwisse.

Burr cheered on Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing a health care CEO in cold blood.

Now, Burr is channeling his rage against X owner Elon Musk.

Prediction: Burr’s appeal will become more selective.

People close to White House believe JoeBiden increased federal spending by as much as $300 billion in his final months of his presidency to juice the economy and markets and help KamalaHarris get elected. That combined that with rolling over short term debt in order not to force rates on the all-important 10 year note (which consumers rates are priced off of) to spike higher, has left a balance sheet mess of epic proportions. They say this spending spree provides an insight into the mountain of debt and deficits that Trump must start to eliminate. Story developing.

The irony is that the Biden cabal’s actions indicate they knew full well that Bidenomics was a failure insofar as the economy went. Although it did a fine job of shoveling dollars at favored constituencies — right up until the bitter end, in a last-ditch effort to keep the gravy train rolling under President Harris.

BEYOND SATIRE OR PARODY: Amazon forest felled to build road for climate summit. “A new four-lane highway cutting through tens of thousands of acres of protected Amazon rainforest is being built for the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belém.”

HOW’S THAT SPACE PROGRAM COMING ALONG? Planetary defense may get a boost from Jared Isaacman.

The brief surge of interest in 2024 YR4, which made its way into mainstream media even amid all the activities of the new Trump administration, offers a challenge and an opportunity for the planetary defense community.

The opportunity comes from the renewed interest in planetary defense. While NASA spends significantly more on the subject now than it did a decade ago, scientists are looking to do more. One example is ongoing efforts to win support for a mission to Apophis, an asteroid that will make a close flyby of the Earth in 2029. NASA has yet to greenlight a dedicated mission to Apophis despite proposals that include repurposing Janus, a pair of NASA smallsats built but then placed in storage when delays in its rideshare launch kept it from carrying out its original asteroid mission.

The person likely to be NASA’s next administrator appears receptive to boosting planetary defense. “There is a lot of taxpayer-funded science that should be reviewed & potentially reduced, but planetary defense against NEO threats seems disproportionately underfunded relative to the likelihood and magnitude of the associated risks & consequences,” Jared Isaacman wrote on social media Feb. 14, near the peak of interest in 2024 YR4.

This was one of the few policy statements he has made publicly since being nominated, suggesting he would be open to increasing spending on planetary defense.

Isaacman is a perfect choice for NASA and I wish he’d get confirmed already.

SHOT: At This Point, Elon Musk Will Have to Give Up Tesla.

Chaser:

I don’t think Musk is giving up anything.

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): A reader writes:

One of the things I admire most about Elon Musk, I mean aside from his chainsaw and dynamite operations within our bloated, corrupt federal bureaucracy, is how he turned the most expensive rolling lefty virtue signal out there …. the Tesla … into a object of revulsion. Facking hilarious.

And the lefties can’t get rid of them. Nobody wants electric vehicles anymore.

So they have to put Musk hate stickers on them. And ever time they get into their stupid $70,000 lefty virtue signal mobile, they must be thinking “I really hate Musk a lot.” They must have to constantly tell people that.

Seriously, it’s like Musk is some kind of evil genius who figured out how to separate lefties from billions of their dollars by appealing to their idiotic climate religion … and then made them despise themselves for doing it.

He should get a Nobel Prize for that.

He’s going to deserve several Nobels before he’s done. But Teslas are excellent electric vehicles, it’s just that electric vehicles are niche vehicles, and will remain so until the technology makes them as useful as internal combustion vehicles. Meanwhile, the vandalism campaign is just luring a lot of lefty activists — and their funders — into a place where they can be prosecuted and sued into oblivion. They’re falling for it because they’ve gotten used to operating with impunity. No more.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s chief function was to give Elon enough resources to launch SpaceX, which he has done. Like an expendable first stage booster, if it tumbles away it’s still done its job. I’m sure Elon would rather it be a reusable booster, and serve as a long term cash cow and incubator of engineering talent. But if not, well, its chief task is done.

CAN YOU BLAME THEM? CBS News requests FCC stop probe into edits of ’60 Minutes’ interview with Kamala Harris.

CBS News is asking the Federal Communications Commission to end its investigation into the edits of its “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris when she was vice president and the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.

The media outlet argued Monday in its request that such a probe makes the federal government a “roving censor” in violation of the First Amendment.

That’s a neat trick CBS News is trying to pull, going from “We didn’t deceptively edit anything,” to “So we did make those edits but it’s wrong for Trump to make a big deal out of it.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Dems Are Making Me Hope Trump Becomes as Mean as They Said He Would Be. “The Democrats don’t let things like a complete lack of reality interfere with their fits of pique, as we know, so they’re now living as if their predictions have come true. They’re more wearisome than ever, and sort of making me wish that President Trump had turned into the iron-fisted vengeance monster of their nightmares.”

DIPLOMACY:

In last week’s VIP essay, “Off-Ramps to Nowhere,” I argued Trump was offering off-ramps from a war that neither side could hope to completely win. After (too?) many carrots and sticks, Zelensky is finally ready to take his.

Will Putin?

CORN, POPPED: AOC slapped with ethics complaint over ‘troubling expenses’ made to dance company.

Americans for Public Trust, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, sent a letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) on Tuesday, questioning “several troubling expenses” from AOC’s disbursements, which they claim are “in contravention of federal law and the standards of the House of Representatives.”

Each member of Congess receives a Member Representational Allowance (“MRA”), a budget for official duties that “may not be used for personal or campaign purposes,” according to the Congressional Research Service. However, the “Squad” member is being accused of using these funds for “campaign purposes.”

AOC reportedly made a payment of $3,700 to a “Juan D Gonzalez” and another for $850 to “Bombazo Dance Co Inc.,” with both expenditures described as being used for “training.”

Congress has standards?
