David Weiss arguably is anything but impartial, as evidenced by his endorsement of the sweetheart plea deal offered Hunter Biden. And Weiss obviously is a government insider, according to Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) and multiple others.

FORGET BIDEN, INVESTIGATE DESANTIS: That’s the demand of Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.).

Committee Republicans should forget the Biden Family Bribery Scandal and instead immediate launch investigations of the “shocking trends of anti-democratic abuses of power in the state” by GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Why? Because of the “disturbing laundry list of anti-democratic abuses taking place across the State of Florida and metastasizing throughout the United States.” No, this is not from The Babylon Bee.

BIDEN GOING INDIGENOUS: Indigenous knowledge, that is. Never heard of it? Me, neither, but it involves Native Americans and things like using hot nailheads to “cure” diseases.

And yes, we’re all likely to get to know it much better than it merits in the days ahead thanks to President Joe Biden. Hans Bader has the details.

REMEMBER THE SBARRO BOMBING: It happened before 9/11 and so tends not to be recalled among the Islamic terrorist onslaughts that characterized the period. The Lid’s Jeff Dunetz offers this sobering observation on the 22nd anniversary of mass murder in a pizzaria:

ON THE FALL OF THE NEW ATHEISM: Brit broadcaster Justin Brierley has a knack for sparking conversations among believers and non-believers. In this lengthy HillFaith video conversation, he tells Biola University Professor Sean McDowell he sees signs of a bit of a spiritual re-awakening in the U.S. and the U.K., prompted in part by the fading influence of the New Atheism that was so prominent a decade ago.

It’s a lengthy conversation but Brierley and McDowell cover a lot of ground, ask more than a few interesting questions and offer some thought-provoking assessments of the current state and possible future direction of public faith, culture and politics in the West.

IT WAS 23 YEARS AGO TODAY I DIED: That’s literally the truth. My sweet wife reminded me of it this afternoon. I’d forgotten the date, but not the incredible moment when I woke up.

SENATE JUDICIARY GOP STIRS: They’ve been rather quiet in recent weeks – excepting Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) –  as the House Judiciary and House Oversight and Accountability committees peeled back layer after layer of the Biden Bribery Scandal. But today, every Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee signed a letter to Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) demanding a hearing be scheduled ASAP.

Purpose of the hearing is to give Attorney General Merrick Garland and U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss an opportunity under oath and in public to “clarify” whether or not Weiss had authority to file any charge in any federal court he concluded to be justified by the evidence in the Hunter Biden tax evasion case.

No response from Durbin, but it’s difficult to see how he can avoid inviting Garland and Weiss, then convening the requested hearing. More to come.

THEN THEY CAME FOR YOUR CAR: You may have seen the announcement a few days ago from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it is upping the mandatory fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks to as high as 58 mpg by 2032. It’s for the environment, right?

“These draconian measures in the name of ‘efficiency’ would effectively make electric vehicles mandatory in this country by forcefully limiting Americans’ options. In the name of fighting climate change, the Biden administration is seeking to bend the American people to their will through government coercion. They don’t trust us to make our own choices, and so have decided to make our choices for us,” observes the American Accountability Foundation (AFA).

In fact, secret emails obtained and made public by AFA, reveal that NHTSA administrator Ann Carlson has long been convinced nothing less than complete abandonment of fossil fuels can save the Earth. Raising fuel economy standards to unreachable levels is a clear path to accomplishing that mythical goal.

DID JESUS REALLY SAY HE WAS GOD? It’s a commonplace in many American campus classrooms that Jesus Christ never actually claimed to be God, that all that deity stuff was made up by the disciples after the crucifixion. You know, to keep the movement going, giving them something to do, an excuse to travel the Mediterranean, etc. etc.

Warner Wallace, the now-retired Los Angeles Police Detective who became famous on NBC’s “Dateline”  for solving decades old open murder cases, grew up an atheist but that changed mid-life and today he’s an extremely knowledgeable, articulate defender of the faith. SOMEBODY SHOULD TELL JOE: California Gov. Gavin Newsom is clearly positioning himself for a run at the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination. Washington Free Beacon’s Susannah Luthi reports on Newsom’s deployment of his Campaign for Democracy PAC, using it to challenge “Red State authoritarians” like Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida.

FORMER CAPITOL HILL CHIEF ‘A LITTLE P—-D OFF: If you doubt that somebody (not spelled T-R-U-M-P) intended the J6 riot to happen, read this from the National Pulse regarding Tucker Carlson’s interview of former Capitol Hill Policy Chief Steven Sund.

Fox fired Carlson before he could air the interview and it was never aired afterwards. Which raises some interesting questions about what else Fox has declined to air on J6. It will all come out sooner or later.

REPEAL OF A REPEAL: Half of the Senate Republicans are co-sponsoring a Resolution of Disapproval to nullify a Biden administration rule that repealed a Trump era missive that required the broadest possible hiring freedom under the Constitution for religiously oriented federal contractors.

The Biden repeal would restore to the Department of Labor the regulatory authority to bar federal contractors from making adherence to particular faith tenants such as being pro-life an employment qualification.
