ISRAELI SUPERHERO SABRA ENTERING THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE: “If the haters had not already found reason to boycott Marvel films, they will now. We are getting ourselves an Israeli superhero!”

Related: Shira Haas to join next ‘Captain America’ film as Israeli heroine Sabra.

Israeli actress Shira Haas, who gained international fame through her starring role in the hit Netflix series “Unorthodox,” will play an Israeli superhero in the next “Captain America” film, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to multiple reports.

According to Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and others, Haas will play Sabra, a little-known character who first appeared in Marvel comics in 1980.

In the comics, Sabra, aka Ruth Bat-Seraph, is a former superhuman agent for the Mossad spy agency who sometimes knocks up against other superhuman characters such as the Hulk and the X-Men.

Her powers include super strength and stamina, and her costume often incorporates the Israel flag and the Star of David.

The reaction from the uber-woke leftist crowd that Disney courts, and possibly the uber-woke language that Disney’s scriptwriters craft for Haas’ character will be fascinating to watch.

FIVE LOCAL DEPUTIES ARRESTED AFTER PROPOSING PUTIN BE ARRESTED ON TREASON CHARGES.

Five Russian municipal deputies from St. Petersburg have been arrested after publishing a request to the Duma to have Vladimir Putin arrested and charged with treason for the invasion of Ukraine.

“They know the punishment will be severe. They can easily face a death sentence based on Russian federal law. The significance of this act of defiance and dissent by a handful of Russian officials cannot be possibly overstated,”  Rebekah Koffler, a former DIA intelligence officer and author of Putin’s Playbook, told Fox News Digital.

Just 24 hours later, another local authority called for Putin’s resignation. In a letter addressed to the president by council deputies at Lomonosovsky Municipal District, the deputies wrote that  Russia had now become “feared and hated” while “aggression” has taken the country back to the “Cold War era,” as reported by Newsweek.

Putin is in no danger of being deposed — unless there is plotting by the military going on under everyone’s radar. But any sort of political revolt can easily be thwarted by Putin, who has the police and the FSB security service on his side.

From today’s Power Line Week in Pictures:

DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HISTORY: San Diego teacher defines ‘fascist’ to class as ‘whites,’ ‘heterosexuals,’ and ‘Christians.’

A teacher from Madison High School in San Diego claimed fascists are synonymous with the “modern-day Republican Party” and “white, Christian, heterosexuals,” according to a student at the school. Speaking on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retaliation, the high school student detailed the teacher’s unhinged definition of a “fascist.”

The school began the 2022-23 year on Aug. 29. The alleged incident occurred at the high school last Thursday.

“Immediately, I walk in and notice on the board, it says, ‘The Republican Party is the fascist party, and it does not fit the mold of a Democratic Party,'” the student told me. “It’s the first thing I saw when I came in.”

The student took a picture of this and shared it with me. It read, “As it is currently constituted, the Republican Party is now a fascist organization that no longer fits the category of a conventional Democratic Party.”

But the teacher didn’t stop there. He continued with his radical left-wing indoctrination by listing whites, Christians, and heterosexuals as groups that are “fascist.” The student took a picture during the class that shows how the teacher defined “fascist.” On the classroom’s white dry-erase board, the teacher wrote the word “fascist,” underlined it, and listed the words: Trump, heterosexual, white, Christian, and hatred of foreigners, immigrants, and minorities, among others.

Earlier: Mark Judge: Adolf Hitler Thought More Like Nancy Pelosi Than Donald Trump.

The best book on Hitler’s religious beliefs is Hitler’s Religion: the Twisted Beliefs That Drove the Third Reich by Richard Weikart. After reading it one gets the idea that Hitler would have sided much more with the modern abortion movement than the pro-life cause.

Hitler was a pantheist who believed in the survival of the fittest and that the strong can bully and wipe out the weak. “Pantheism is the idea that all of nature is God,” Weikart, a history professor at California State University, explained to me in an interview. “Because Hitler thought that nature was God, he thought that following the laws of nature was doing the divine will.”

In the Judeo-Christian tradition, nature is a creation of God, not God himself. According to Weikart, Hitler believed that God is found in the power of nature — particularly the violent Darwinian struggle for survival. “Hitler thought that destroying people he thought of as weak or inferior was in perfect accordance with what nature does,” Weikart said. “After all, in nature, animals get killed, and certain species go extinct. Hitler thought the same thing should go on in human society because he thought certain races were inferior to others. So he thought destroying them was a good thing.”

This view is much more aligned with the ideas of Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, than those of anyone in the GOP.

Atheists Love to Lie About This

Despite this evidence, Weikart says, the idea that Hitler was a Christian still pops up in Progressive arguments and on atheist websites. “One of the reasons they argue that Hitler was a Christian is that they are atheists or agnostics and want to bash Christianity. They’re wanting to show the evils of Christianity, so making Christianity responsible for the Holocaust meets their idea about Christianity representing all the evils in the world.”

The left has always gotten away with Nazi-Republican comparisons because understanding Hitler’s religion has been a complicated task. The German dictator often spoke about what religious beliefs he did not accept, but never clearly stated which ones he did. He rejected not only Christianity, but also atheism, mysticism, occultism, and neo-paganism.

THE ANCHORESS: On Charles III and the Value and Power of Ritual.

Watching these early moments in what will be an ongoing grand spectacle out of this small island of ambitious (sometimes ruinous) rulers only emphasizes for me the sagacity of maintaining our rituals, even as generations raised on deconstruction wonder why they are not dismantled.

One thought consistently intrudes: how is this playing to the younger generations, whose lives have been bereft of formal customs and observances beyond sports championships and presidential elections?

WHY IS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY SUCH A CESSPIT OF RACISM? AOC’s Biggest Problem Is That She’s AOC.

Consider this little gem:

“It’s my resolution that perhaps we can be engaged by the end of the year,” she recalled him telling her. “And I said, ‘Oh, really? Well, you’re going to have to woo me. You’re going to have to convince me, after all this time, why I should.’ ” Ocasio-Cortez told me that she never considered marriage inevitable. Her relationship with Roberts, who is white, raised its own particular questions about identity and belonging: She wasn’t positive that an intercultural, interracial relationship would be the right fit for her.

Sorry, what? Is there anyone in America who, having read these words, can still insist that AOC is treated unfairly? If anyone else in politics had told a friendly journalist that they were not positive that “an intercultural, interracial relationship would be the right fit for them, it would have yielded a hurricane of criticism. Per Gallup, 94 percent of Americans approve of interracial marriage — and by “approve, one must assume that they do not mean “. . . but only for other people. What the hell does “she wasn’t positive that an intercultural, interracial relationship would be the right fit for her mean in practice? And who, besides AOC, would be given the benefit of the doubt when one considered such a question. I’m sitting here trying to imagine the reaction if, say, Senator Tim Scott had said that. Or Glenn Youngkin. Or Marco Rubio. Or anyone. They’d have been crucified.

Maybe, just maybe, it’s her?

Indeed.

KAROL MARKOWICZ: How Democrats sabotaged schoolchildren.

There was no way to escape the damning implications of the extended COVID-19 school closures or Democrats’ owning the lion’s share of the blame for them, so Jean-Pierre tried to deflect: “In less than six months, our schools went from 46% to nearly all of them open to full time. That was the work of this president, and that was the work of Democrats in spite of Republicans not voting for the American Rescue Plan, [of] which $130 billion went to schools to be able to have the ventilation, to have the tutoring and the teachers and being able to hire more teachers, and that was because of the work that this administration did.”

This is a lie Democrats are increasingly telling themselves and anyone who will listen because they need the villains of this particular story to somehow be transformed in the public’s imagination into the heroes. The arsonists want to be remembered as the firefighters.

But the reality wholeheartedly refutes the spin. Before President Joe Biden even took office in January 2021, he set a very unambitious goal to get schools open in the first 100 days. One problem: That 100-day goal meant children would finally head back to regular school in May, right around the time schools around the country were shutting down for the summer. In the end, it wouldn’t matter. The 100-day plan would run headlong into the same roadblock that had kept schools closed before Biden became president: Randi Weingarten, the head of the American Federation of Teachers who had directed the Democratic officials in her pocket to fall in line.

During a press briefing on Feb. 9, 2021, then-press secretary Jen Psaki suddenly backtracked on what “open schools” meant to the president. “His goal that he set is to have the majority of schools, so more than 50%, open by Day 100 of his presidency. And that means some teaching in classrooms, so at least one day a week. Hopefully, it’s more. And obviously, it is as much as is safe in each school and local district.” Asked to clarify, Psaki answered, “Well, teaching at least one day a week in the majority of schools by Day 100.”

DON’T WORRY, I’M SURE TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY BUTTIGIEG* WILL SORT IT OUT: Potential rail strike threatens to kneecap US economy ahead of midterms.

More than 9 in 10 railroad workers would vote to reject the PEB recommendations and go on strike, according to a recent survey from the organization.

Still, Kaminkow noted that workers could change their minds when faced with the prospect of years of back pay and the reality that Congress can take away their main source of leverage at any time.

Federal law gives Congress the power to block or delay a railroad strike. If workers were to walk out, lawmakers could vote to enact the PEB deal or appoint arbitrators to fast-track a new contract, among a range of other options.

The Association of American Railroads, which estimates that a national rail shutdown would cost the U.S. at least $2 billion a day, said that lawmakers should vote to implement the PEB recommendations in the event of a strike to “instantly reward employees and reduce economic uncertainty.”

Experts say that an extended walkout would devastate industries that rely on freight to transport grain, coal, diesel, steel and motor vehicle parts. Shipping containers would pile up at ports, severely congesting supply chains and sending prices soaring ahead of the holidays.

“The railroads are actually very critical to the nation’s economy, and also to security. There’s a lot of hazardous stuff that simply can’t go by road,” said Nicholas Little, director of railway education at Michigan State University’s Center for Railway Research and Education.

DESPERATE DEMOCRATS HOPE MIDTERMS ARE A REFERENDUM ON TRUMP, NOT BIDEN:

The Aug. 8 Mar-a-Lago Raid and President Joe Biden’s dystopian Independence Hall speech to start September began a transparent autumn effort to thrust former President Donald Trump back into the spotlight. Why you ask? Because Biden and Democrats much prefer to make the crucial midterm elections a referendum on someone not currently holding office than their party’s disastrous policies.

Any Trump-related headline, they believe, can distract not only from Democratic debacles but Republicans’ superior plans for America should the GOP reclaim power.

A recap shouldn’t be necessary, but the Reader’s Digest version includes Team Biden mishandling COVID-19 policies, letting teachers’ unions destroy vulnerable students’ futures, and continuous poor communication on masks, re-openings, and vaccines. Recently the White House botched monkeypox with vaccine shortages and misapplications.

The administration’s profligate federal spending, including two unnecessary recent bills to close the summer, exacerbated inflation, crushed the middle and lower classes, and reduced supplies of food and energy.

Interest rates are now soaring, making homeownership harder for people who want to marry and start families instead of relying on the government.

Small businesses, hampered by COVID lockdowns, still suffer under inflation and cumbersome regulations. But Biden wants to “help” them by adding nearly 90,000 new IRS agents, likely for audits.

Then there’s Biden’s shambolic student-loan “forgiveness” program that even a former top Obama White House advisor admits is atrocious public policy.

EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY: Amazon Sellers See ‘scary’ Holiday Season As Consumers Pull Back.

Amazon.com Inc. sellers are bracing for a bleak holiday shopping season as inflation-bitten consumers curb their spending.

Many merchants, who sell more than half of the goods on Amazon’s web store, fear they’ll be forced to cut prices to move a mountain of unsold inventory. It’s an abrupt change from the previous two years when sellers scrambled to get enough products into Amazon warehouses to meet pandemic-fueled demand even as chronic shortages let them jack up prices.

This year US online sales will rise just 9.4% to $1 trillion, the first time growth has slipped into the single digits, according to Insider Intelligence, which in June lowered its earlier annual forecast. Spending on Amazon will hit $400 billion, up 9% and slower than the overall industry, the research firm says.

“Consumers don’t seem to be spending much on anything beyond basic necessities, so sellers have to offer discounts and coupons and aggressive marketing, which can be expensive,” said Lesley Hensell, a co-founder of Riverbend Consulting, which advises Amazon sellers. “The fourth quarter looks scary this year.”

‘Christmas dinner in a can’ sales should be brisk this year!

DESTINATION: Why is NASA returning to the moon? Joe Pappalardo on the Artemis program, the future of U.S. spaceflight, and the beginnings of a new space race:

It may be unfair to compare SpaceX and NASA, but SpaceX is built to be fast-but-risky whereas NASA is built to be slow-but-reliable. We’re now seeing that the fast-but-risky approach is actually leading to not only faster but more reliable results. Artemis is this giant U.S. government program that leaks money—as the Apollo program was—and that seems antiquated, but lots of members of Congress could get behind its traditional approach, which made use of languishing NASA facilities and had a supply chain stretching into lots of different communities. There are real benefits to NASA doing work across these communities, of course, but this approach can get in the way of doing things quickly, being able to change direction when engineers learn something new, or being free to adopt new technology and machinery. There’s less flexibility. And the Space Launch System isn’t reusable, either, meaning it’s a costly rocket that can only be used once. It would be foolish to stop this program now, but it would be grossly irresponsible to replicate it in the future.

QUESTION ASKED AND ANSWERED: What is to become of Memphis?

A 247WallSt statistical analysis led them to anoint Memphis as “America’s Deadliest City” for 2021.

1. Memphis, TN-MS-AR
> Violent crime rate: 1,359 per 100,000 people (18,324 total crimes)
> 1-yr. change in violent crime rate: +21.3%
> Homicide rate: 24.2 per 100,000 people (327 total homicides)
> Poverty rate: 15.4%

The Memphis, Tennessee, metro area ranks as the most dangerous city in the United States. More than 18,000 violent crimes were reported in the metro area in 2020, or 1,359 for every 100,000 people — more than three times the U.S. violent crime rate. The number of homicides committed in Memphis climbed by 38%, from 237 in 2019 to 327 in 2020. At 24.2 per 100,000 people, the homicide rate in Memphis is the second highest of any U.S. metro area.

Deadly violence continues to rise in Memphis. The city has reported more homicides so far in 2021 than it had over the comparable period the previous year. City leaders have plans to curtail criminal violence in the city, but reportedly need hundreds more police officers to execute those plans. The department is reportedly offering a $15,000 signing bonus in order to aid in the recruitment effort.

That’s not going to do much for tourism, which used to be a huge part of Memphis’ appeal. I can remember, even in the early 1980s when the city was just starting to get its act together, and Beale Street was a dark hole with Blues Alley/maybe 3 other clubs open and the riverfront was mostly abandoned warehouses, there were still entrepreneurs opening restaurants, smallish music venues, trying to encourage foot traffic from the skyscraper city core (where they’d blocked off a pedestrian section) to the river.

We women Marines would go in a smallish group and really enjoy ourselves. Overton Square was humming with college kids. It had promise, and it came to fruition. (I don’t know what happened. Beale Street now comes up flagged on Yelp as “not safe” along with links for “shoot-out” news reports.)

Fortunately, Memphis authorities know how to turn things around: ‘Real men don’t murder’ ad looks to address crime, teach how to be a man.

‘Don’t lose your head, use your head mane’ — ‘I said mane because, in Memphis, that means man. Problem is, a lot of y’all ain’t even that. Having a gun doesn’t make you a man.’

This is just a piece of a new public service announcement, with the same message from three years ago.

Since the last public service announcement, the homicide numbers have continued to increase, according to a previous search done by the University of Memphis.

Howard Robertson, CEO of Trust Marketing and Communications, said according to research done by the university, the homicide numbers have continued to increase, since the last public service announcement.

He said, that’s a reflection of how effective the messaging is, especially for young men, and the conversations start with current inmates.

“They had issues with manhood, fatherhood, with their own fathers who in most cases were not around, and who they blame for not teaching them how to be a man.”

JOHNNY ROTTEN COMES FULL CIRCLE: Ex-Sex Pistol John Lydon Quotes Traditional ‘God Save The Queen’ In Tribute To Elizabeth II.

“Send her victorious” is a quote from Britain’s national anthem “God Save The Queen”:

God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the Queen.

The sentiment is a long way from the Pistols’ headline-making hit “God Save the Queen,” which became a punk anthem (and national scandal) with lyrics like, “God save the Queen/She ain’t no human being” and “God save the queen/’Cause tourists are money/And our figurehead/Is not what she seems.”

The song was released in 1977 during Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee celebrations. The BBC banned it, adding to its infamy.

Lydon’s turnabout isn’t quite so shocking, though, to anyone who has been keeping up with the Public Limited Ltd. singer — he’s long expressed his personal fondness for the Queen. In a 2017 interview with UK music site The Quietus, Lydon said he dreaded the inevitable use of the Sex Pistols song when the Queen dies.

The song, he said, was “about a political situation and the demand for obedience to a monarchy I don’t believe in. But she’s a human being and I will sorely miss her as a human being on Planet Earth. It’s not her fault she was born into a gilded cage. Long may she live.”

It’s probably the most punk rock thing ever to act like an adult over the queen’s passing, when academics and talk show hosts are using her death as a platform for cliched rants about racism and colonialism:

TIM GRAHAM: Karine Jean-Pierre Easily Tagged As An ‘Election Denier.’

The central hypocrisy of President Biden’s indictment of the “MAGA Republicans” – as well as the Pelosi-picked panel on January 6 – is all the evidence of liberals and Democrats being “election deniers.” Democracy is crumbling when Republicans question election results, but everything Democrats say and do should be categorized as exercises in idealism.

n the September 6 Biden press briefing, Fox White House reporter Peter Doocy started to point out what press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted in 2016. She said “Oh, I knew this was coming.” Doocy said “You tweeted Trump stole an election. You tweeted Brian Kemp stole an election. If denying election results is extreme now, why wasn’t it then?”

On December 17, 2016, almost six weeks after Trump’s upset victory over Hillary Clinton, Jean-Pierre tweeted, “Stolen emails, stolen drone, stolen election…..welcome to the world of #unpresidented Trump.”

On April 2, 2020 – about 17 months after Stacey Abrams lost her election in Georgia – Jean-Pierre tweeted over an MSNBC video link: “Reminder: Brian Kemp stole the gubernatorial election from Georgians and Stacey Abrams.” Why so late? Liberals at that time were suggesting Kemp (like Trump) was one of those GOP COVID mass murderers.

Jean-Pierre tried to call the comparison “ridiculous,” that “I was talking specifically at that time of what was happening with voting rights and the — what was in danger of voting rights.” That changes absolutely nothing. The hypocrisy remains. The only leg these liberals have to stand on is they didn’t riot at the Capitol. They spent most of Trump’s presidency treating him as a Russian-imposed fraud, but that’s somehow not being a dangerous “election denier.”

Conservatives quickly pointed out the obvious: if the press secretary had long anticipated this question, why was the answer so remarkably insufficient?

Democrats and denying elections — it’s different when they do it, somehow:

WHY MONARCHY-REJECTING AMERICA MOURNS QUEEN ELIZABETH, TOO:

Whenever the queen, or some member of the royal family, would visit these shores, exasperated citizens would reliably remind us that we once fought a war of independence from Great Britain and from monarchy itself. Which, of course, is perfectly and thankfully true. Yet it’s equally true that our declaration of independence from England was written in England’s language, that our own Constitution derives from the cumulative laws and customs of what used to be called the mother country — and not least, in recent times, that we have fought side by side with the ex-colonial power in defense of those rights and freedoms we both cherish.

The essential difference, however, is that in rejecting British rule, our republican system of checks and balances also jettisoned the principle of constitutional monarchy, which, while scarcely an error and consistent with our particular brand of self-government, has bequeathed to us a system that, while gloriously democratic, has not always proved so checked and balanced in the 2½ centuries since 1776.

ANNALS OF LEFTIST AUTOPHAGY: Politico Reports White House Anger at CNN Over Negative Coverage of Biden’s ‘Red’ Speech.

Biden surely thought screaming about Democracy Dying would tickle CNN’s sweet spot.

They especially disliked New Day co-host Brianna Keilar — “an outspoken CNN host known for her tough grilling of Trump officials” — when she criticized Team Biden for putting U.S. Marines in the backdrop behind an obvious campaign speech. She said it was “wrong when Democrats do it. It’s wrong when Republicans do it.”

The reporters reminded readers “West Wing Playbook previously reported that Licht met with White House chief of staff Ron Klain earlier this year” to discuss what CNN could do better.

So when CNN White House correspondent JOHN HARWOOD (whose coverage has been harshly critical of DONALD TRUMP) announced he was leaving the network long before his contract was up, it was noticeable how quickly Klain blasted out a number of tweets praising Harwood. Among those including a tweet that criticized Licht by name. One CNN staffer told West Wing Playbook that during an internal meeting this week, Licht brushed off online criticism of the Harwood departure.

Over the weekend, Klain also reposted resistance media personality RICK WILSON’s tweet dubbing CNN “diet Fox” after anchor POPPY HARLOW asked press secretary KARINE JEAN-PIERRE whether Biden would apologize for calling Republicans “semi-fascists.”

“Diet Fox” is hilarious, and clearly inaccurate. They sound like crybabies when Jean-Pierre gets a mildly challenging question. No challenging questions for Democrats! That makes you Diet Fox. They actually expect to be cuddled.

BOB TORRICELLI IS PREPARED TO PARACHUTE IN AT A MOMENT’S NOTICE: SC Democrats call on their party’s US Senate nominee to quit.

The South Carolina Democrat vying to oust Republican U.S. Sen. Tim Scott is facing calls from within her own party to fold her campaign, following the publication of additional leaked audio in which she appears to make disparaging remarks about her constituents.

The calls for state Rep. Krystle Matthews to withdraw just two months ahead of the general election came Thursday in reaction to leaked audio published by conservative activist group Project Veritas of Matthews speaking to one of its members, without her knowledge.

Sitting in a restaurant, Matthews, who is Black, is heard saying that she represents a “mostly white” district, adding, of white voters: “I keep them right here — like under my thumbs. … Otherwise, they get out of control — like kids.”

In a statement, Matthews acknowledged her voice on the recording, calling Project Veritas a “satirical MAGA Powered news outlet.”

The compilation also features more of Matthews’ conversation, parts of which were previously published by Project Veritas, in which she spoke to an inmate about funding her campaign with “dope boy money” and having Democrats run as Republicans, saying “secret sleepers” represent “the only way you’re gonna change the dynamics in South Carolina.”

As Michael Graham wrote in 2004 after Frank Lautenberg was swapped in to replace Bob Torricelli on the Democrats’ Senate ticket in NJ, “Don’t assume you know who’s on the Democratic ticket until Election Day.”
