WAKE FOREST’S ADMISSIONS GAMBIT: Is replacing explicitly race-based affirmative action with “early action” that favors first-generation college students a workaround to that pesky Supreme Court? Wake wants to find out. Seems like a big risk that you might have to let in lots of the dreaded white people from Appalachia, though…

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: The J6 Daddy Issues Fascists Are Terrified They’re About to Be Exposed. “It’s tough to sell the insurrection story when there’s a video record that proves that most of the people involved were merely exercising their constitutional right to peaceably assemble.”

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): I’d like to see Liz Cheney and Adam Schiff subpoenaed and questioned before committee on why they released deceptive and misleading video clips. Basically a what-did-they-know-and-when-did-they-know-it inquiry.

MY RECIPE FOR THANKSGIVING LEG OF LAMB:

1 semi-boneless leg of lamb (about 8 pounds)
2 cups merlot
1 cup each worcestershire and teriyaki
2 cloves garlic, crushed (more is better!)
1tbsp sugar
2 oz. olive oil
rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper to taste
Disposable aluminum roasting pan.

Mix merlot, worcestershire, and teriyaki, plus sugar, and marinate, preferably overnight. Heat a covered gas grill to high temperature on one side, low on the other.

Rub the lamb with olive oil, garlic and other spices. Place the roasting pan on the “low heat” side. Place the lamb on the “high heat” side of the grill and sear; rotate until all sides are browned. Move to the roasting pan, and turn the “high” side down to low as well. Close the grill cover and cook. If the lamb seems to be browning too much, cover with aluminum foil.

Cook until a meat thermometer inserted all the way to the center reads 140 degrees. (Don’t overcook, or the lamb will be dry and tasteless; the outside can be pretty crispy, but the inside should be rare). Remove, let it rest for a few minutes, and serve. Juices will make an excellent lamb gravy, especially if you add more merlot.

DON SURBER: Don’t anoint Milei just yet: But it’s the vote that matters, not the candidate.

Milei hits all the right notes. He told an interviewer, “We do not make pacts with Communists. I would not promote relations with Communists. Whether it’s Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, Nicaragua or China.” . . .

AP reported, “In the streets of Buenos Aires, drivers honked their horns and many took to the streets to celebrate in several neighborhoods. Outside Milei’s party headquarters, a hotel in downtown Buenos Aires, a full-on party kicked off with supporters singing, buying beers from vendors and setting off colored smoke bombs. They waved Argentine flags and the yellow Gadsden flag, emblazoned with the words ‘Don’t Tread On Me,’ which Milei’s movement has adopted.”

Maybe Andrew Lloyd Webber can rework his tune to Don’t Tread On Me Argentina.

Media hysteria in America ahead of the election was as expected. . . .

Journalists keep using that word democracy, but I don’t think they know what it means.

They tell us that voting for someone they don’t like will destroy democracy. It is hard not to root for the populist over the elitist.

But we have seen populists rise and disappoint conservatives. Boris Johnson hit all the right notes too but delayed enacting Brexit for as long as possible.

Don’t buy what the media is peddling about him. The proof of Milei’s threat to the globalists is in the hands of the prosecutors. Trump faces 91 counts in four kangaroo courts. Italian prosecutors went after Silvio Berlusconi as well. No excitement without an indictment.

But Milei is a minor character at present. The big story was once again a country has used the ballot box to assert itself against the globalist wave of a world run by bureaucrats and billionaires who see humans as objects. . . . Canada may have surrendered. England may have given up. But the war continues because we the people fight on against the dystopian world the elitists want us to accept.

Don’t Cry for Argentina. Instead, pray, hope, and realize that if Milei fails to live up to the billing, someone else will run. The people have no choice but to have faith in God and vote.

CHANGE? Hostile takeover at Disney all but confirmed after alleged emergency meeting.

The headline is an attention-grabber but the only outlets I could find running it were Sportskeeda and an MSN reprint of the Sportskeeda report — and it reads (at least to my eyes) like AI-generated content.

Previously: Microsoft Shamelessly Pumping Internet Full of Garbage AI-Generated “News” Articles.

Maybe the meeting is real, maybe not. But you could never say for sure reading about it on MSN.

Be careful out there.

LOL:

ABOUT THAT CCP BIOLAB IN CALIFORNIA: The more is revealed about that biolap being run in a “unoccupied” warehouse in Reedley, California, the more startling it becomes that this thing was unknown to the feds. Consider these facts compiled by Leslie Eastman on Legal Insurrection:

  • The illegal biolab was run by a PRC citizen who is a wanted fugitive from Canada with a $330 million Canadian dollar judgment against him for stealing American intellectual property.
  • This PRC citizen was a top official at a PRC-state-controlled company and had links to military-civil fusion entities.
  • The illegal biolab received millions of dollars in unexplained payments from PRC banks while running the illegal biolab.
  • The illegal biolab contained thousands of samples of labeled, unlabeled, and encoded potential pathogens, including HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, and Covid.
  • The illegal biolab also contained a freezer labeled “Ebola,” which contained unlabeled, sealed silver bags consistent with how the lab stored high risk biological materials. Ebola is a Select Agent with a lethality rate between 25-90%.
  • The biolab contained nearly a thousand transgenic mice, genetically engineered to mimic the human immune system. Lab workers said that the mice were designed “to catch and carry the COVID-19 virus.”
  • After local officials who discovered the lab sought help from the CDC and others, the CDC refused to test any of the samples.

Consider that this biolab would still be operating had not a local government code enforcer not been curious about a hose sticking out of the warehouse. Which prompts a question: When is somebody at CDC, the FBI and the DOJ going to be fired for all of this?

IRS COMING FOR YOUR CRYPTO: The Cato Institute’s Nicholas Anthony is warning that an obscure 2022 report from the Department of Justice makes the case for the IRS confiscating crypto-currency with or without a judge’s consent. Let’s see now, isn’t there an amendment or something in that thing, you know, the Constitution that would bar such confiscation?

NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG: Layoffs and bankruptcies pile up in logistics amid shocking downturn: We’re seeing too many trucks for too little freight. “Some analysts and industry experts said the freight slowdown was a reversion to the mean. Unfortunately, it is not. We are in one of the worst downturns in freight market history, caused by a massive buildup of capacity, and it’s going to take time to burn it all off. Simply put, the freight market is experiencing a severe recession. . . . Since early in 2022, many companies have gone out of business or severely cut back by letting employees go. Some of those companies were household names in the industry, such as Yellow Corp. and Convoy. Many others were much smaller, not known perhaps beyond their headquarters location. Nonetheless, the bankruptcies, closures and layoffs have piled up, and the financial and human losses have taken a toll.”

This may help explain why gas prices are down.

REMEMBER THE ‘RED DIAPER BABIES’? Dr. Sy Garte was born to parents who were members of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA), so it was no surprise that he grew up to be an atheist.

As it happened, he also had a great passion for science and an intellectual openness to the unexpected. Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ was just about the last thing Garte expected, but it happened and he explains how and why on HillFaith this morning.

SURPRISING EXACTLY NO ONE: Al Jazeera Airs Hamas Footage Showing Militants Entering Gaza Children’s Hospital, Supporting Israeli Claims.

The segment showing the intense fighting appears to have been shot with either helmet or body cameras.

The video is a compilation of clips showing Hamas soldiers taking out tanks with crude-looking rocket launchers. Buildings are also targeted.

One portion of the video shows a crouching Hamas fighter walking up to an Israeli tank, and successfully placing an explosive on it.

The soldiers repeat the phrase “Allah Akbar” throughout the footage.

Then there’s this from Rasmussen: Media Get Mixed Grades for Israel-Palestine Coverage.

“Mixed” is better than they deserve.

SCIENCE: Sudden Cardiac Death in College Athletes.

A carefully done paper presented at the recent AHA meeting and published in Circulation found no increase in sudden cardiac death in NCAA athletes. In fact, the authors reported a decline in sudden cardiac death during the years 2021-2022.

This was a 20-year survey in which the authors used 4 independent databases to document the incidence and causes of sudden cardiac death in NCAA athletes.

They found 143 cases of sudden cardiac death over the 20 years. The overall incidence of SCD was 1:63,682 athlete-years, which is inline with published incidence rates from other studies.

Here are the plots of incidence rates over time. You can see a clear decline in the rates over the years. The last two years are the lowest. (Red line.) . . .

The authors acknowledge limitations. The main one I think is the absence of data on resuscitated arrests. This is important because of the positive trend of increased availability of automatic external defibrillators or AEDs. Namely, it’s possible that there was an increase in cardiac arrests, but not cardiac death—due to better interventions. (In fact, the lower incidence of sudden death in recent years is likely to be due to AEDs).

AEDs should be everywhere.

Plus: “Yet the lack of any signal of increased sudden cardiac death among NCAA athletes is reassuring. It argues against the idea that mRNA vaccines was causing excess cardiac deaths in young athletes. This doesn’t mean mandating the SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine in some of the lowest risk groups was a wise decision. In my opinion, the downplay of the myocarditis signal from the vaccine as well as the mandates shredded public trust. It’s a mistake I hope medical leaders learn from. Yet this study again confirms that anecdotes don’t always sum to evidence.”

Nope. Anecdotes are a reason to look into things. They raise questions, they don’t answer them.
