WOEING: Boeing deliveries drop 27% in June year-on-year.

The company handed over five 777 freighters, including two of the jets to Air China, confirming Reuters reports that widebody deliveries to China have resumed after being halted this spring due to a Chinese regulatory review.

Boeing also reported 11 orders in June for 777 freighters, the third-highest month ever for the model, out of a total of 14 gross orders for the month.

After adjustments to reflect the backlog, Boeing reported adjusted net orders for the month of a negative 104. The planemaker did not give a specific explanation.

That brought Boeing’s gross order total so far this year to 156. After removing cancellations and conversions, Boeing posted a net total of 115 orders since the start of 2024.

Going forward doesn’t look any better: Boeing sold just three passenger jets in the past month. “It sold just three 737 Max jets, two to an unidentified customer and one to Alaska Airlines to replace the plane that had a door plug blow out on a January 5 flight as it approached 16,000 feet.”

HMM: China’s BYD Fires Warning Shot To Western EV Rivals — Including Tesla — With This Move.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended Monday’s signing ceremony, reportedly between BYD’s CEO Wang Chuanfu and Turkey’s industry and technology minister Fatih Kacir. The $1 billion BYD factory investment reportedly has an annual capacity of 150,000 electric cars. It also includes a research and development center.

The new automobile factory continues BYD’s international expansion and boosts its presence in Europe, where it began selling EVs in 2021. It comes amid rising trade tensions between China and the West, which accuses the country of unfairly subsidizing its electric-car industry.

The new BYD plant, located in Manisa province, would allow it to avoid 40% tariffs in Turkey. It would also mark BYD’s second European factory. Its first plant for the continent, in Hungary, is under construction.

Further, Turkey has a customs trade deal with the European Union.

BYD is a real threat to European carmakers and, eventually, American manufacturers, too.

But Chinese carmakers weren’t a threat before Western governments began mandating and incentivizing the EV market into existence.

I’M NOT BUYING THIS ONE: Clinton-Harris Ticket Polling Ahead of Biden. “One thousand registered, likely voters were asked last week who they would support if a presidential election were held today. Forty-three percent stated they would vote for President Trump and 42% said President Biden; 10% were undecided. In a separate question, the survey put President Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris, and this time, Trump trailed by one point, losing to Harris 42% to 41% with 12% undecided. The only other Democrat to earn support sufficient to defeat the 45th President was Hillary Clinton, who managed 43% of the hypothetical vote to President Trump’s 41%; undecideds in that scenario dropped back down to 10%.”

Hypothetical tickets always poll better than actual tickets.

BIDEN CAMPAIGN COLLAPSE TRACKER: Denial Ain’t Just a River in Egypt. “It’s Day Five of my Biden Campaign Collapse Tracker and I’m here to tell you that the Aswan Dam couldn’t hold back all the denial that various Democrats have for you today. It’s an ugly thing to see and, if you’re at all concerned about the fate of our Republic, also glorious.”

NOW HE TELLS US?

More:

When special counsel Robert K. Hur concluded in a February report that President Biden should not be prosecuted for mishandling classified documents in part because a jury would view the president as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Biden and his aides hit back hard.

The 81-year-old president called an impromptu news conference where he angrily denied that he was forgetful. “I’m well-meaning, and I’m an elderly man and I know what the hell I’m doing. … My memory is fine. Take a look at what I’ve done since I’ve become president,” Biden shot back.

But at the same news conference — about 12 minutes long — after discussing the complexities of the current state of the Israel-Gaza war, Biden referred to President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, the leader of Egypt, as the president of Mexico. That followed a week in which Biden described contacts he’d had as president with former German chancellor Helmut Kohl, who died in 2017, and former French president François Mitterrand, who died in 1996.

The president’s aides and allies then went on a blitz to showcase people who had vouched for the president’s fitness, including former Republican House speaker Kevin McCarthy.

He knew — and let the White House use him as a talking point, anyway.

CHINA IS ASSHOE: The Case Of The Fake Filipino. “This story has a little bit of everything: Fake identities, forged passports, human trafficking, shadowy gambling associates and communist infiltrators. But mostly it’s about small Philippines town mayor Alice Guo, who actually seems to be Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national with ties to the CCP.”

“A LITTLE RESPECT HERE, PLEASE.”

The White House really needs a top-notch Press Secretary right now but the Cabal preferred the DEI hire.

UH-HUH: Biden hosts NATO summit with dual tasks: Unite the alliance behind Ukraine and his party behind his candidacy.

On the international stage, he wants to make a case for preserving global alliances in an era when many populist and nationalist leaders are looking inward, his advisers say.

But the tougher task will be on the domestic front, where he’ll need to plow through three days of meetings, speeches and dinners — capped by a news conference Thursday — with the vigor and focus that were noticeably absent during his debate with Donald Trump.

The summit should be a friendly forum for Biden, who is trying to stave off calls from fellow Democrats to drop out of the presidential race after his poor debate showing.

It’s happening on his home turf, so he won’t have to grapple with the overseas travel and late hours that he says left him depleted ahead of the debate.

“He’ll be on an international stage,” said William Daley, a White House chief of staff for President Barack Obama. “This is the first big stage for the president to have since the debate.”

It’s cute that NBC is still pretending that it’s Biden doing any of these things — or would be if the stakes weren’t so serious.

BIOSPHERE III: Scientists re-emerge after a year in Mars simulation project. “The mission was the first in a series called Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog (CHAPEA). Its goal is to help NASA prepare to send humans back to the moon and, one day, to Mars.”

If they wait a little while longer, NASA could just ask the folks living in Elon City.
