HEY, BIG SPENDER: Taiwan computer chipmaker TSMC pledges another $100 billion to expand US chipmaking capacity.

The latest commitment appears to bring the company’s total pledges for investment in U.S. chipmaking to $265 billion. The company also raised its annual revenue forecast after booking record high profits thanks to runaway demand from the boom in artificial intelligence.

The world’s largest contract chip manufacturing and one of the world’s most valuable companies, TSMC is seen as a barometer for the global chip industry and for AI at a time when worries about a potential AI bubble have been buffeting financial markets.

As AI-related demand continues to jump and needs for computing power from data centers surge, TSMC has been expanding chip fabrication plants in the U.S., Japan and Taiwan. It said it is increasing its annual capital expenditure budget for this year to $60 billion-$64 billion, up from an earlier estimate of $52 billion-$56 billion.

And we still need more chips.

THE EV BUBBLE CONTINUES TO DEFLATE: Honda is officially pulling the plug on its only EV in the US.

After Honda scrapped plans to launch its next-generation EVs earlier this year- the 0 Series SUV and Sedan, plus the Acura RSX- we had a feeling the Prologue was on the chopping block.

Unlike the 0 Series models, which were set to enter production later this year at Honda’s “EV Hub” in Ohio on a dedicated platform, the Prologue is based on GM’s Ultium platform, the same one that underpins electric vehicles from Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac.

Honda already ended production of the Acura ZDX last year, which was also built on the Ultium platform, leaving the Prologue as its sole EV available in the US.

While Honda dismissed an Automotive News report earlier this year claiming the electric SUV would go out of production in December, saying the “article is based purely on speculation,” the rumors proved true.

There’s a lot of that going on, maybe: Lucid dismisses report that it is weighing filing for bankruptcy or going private after shares plunge.

The Spotsylvania County School Board rejected both a proposal covering all new hires and rehires with direct student contact and a narrower version limited to employees working with elementary and special education students. Board members Rich Lieberman, Larry DiBella, and Lorita Daniels supported the testing requirements. Four colleagues voted against them.

Superintendent Clint Mitchell urged the board to vote no; at a cost of roughly $25,000 per year, he argued, the district would lose teachers to neighboring counties. His remarks, posted to X by local reporter Nick Minock, circulated widely on Wednesday.

The superintendent’s argument left Spotsylvania in a revealing position. The district could require a criminal background check, professional credentials, and fingerprints, but a basic drug screen for cocaine, opiates, PCP, and amphetamines was framed as an existential threat to the hiring pipeline. What Mitchell did not address was the incident that prompted the proposal in the first place.

In May 2024, a rehired second-grade teacher overdosed on fentanyl in her classroom at Spotswood Elementary School.

Mitchell doesn’t want to send teachers to other counties, but guess which ones will want to come to Spotsylvania?

The official campaign Instagram account of Arizona Democratic congressional hopeful JoAnna Mendoza bizarrely followed multiple OnlyFans models, witchcraft accounts, and sexually explicit content producers.

Mendoza at one point followed a dozen accounts that frequently share sexually explicit content, including a transgender socialist who is known for sharing images of sex toys, according to screenshots of the follows taken and reviewed by The Post.

Her official Instagram account has nearly 12,000 followers and is following 1,230 users. She is still following several of the accounts in question.

At least she doesn’t have a Nazi tattoo… that we’re aware of.

Race has been reinforced as a continual site of social conflict, instead of fading into the background of a multiethnic society.

Three decades later, the South Africa model is being replicated in an unlikely place: California. The state’s leaders have increasingly embraced a radical, race-based vision of politics that echoes South Africa’s post-apartheid experiment in racialized government.

For much of the twentieth century, California was a refuge for those fleeing the racism and discrimination of the Deep South. During the Great Migration’s second wave, black families set up in Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco, seeking middle-class jobs and a better life for their children. California was seen by many as a utopia, with stunning physical beauty, abundant economic opportunity, and a political culture that embraced individualism and meritocracy, rewarded risk taking, and upheld the equality of all people under the law. That era is over.

This City Journal investigation—based on an extensive review of government records, reports, and legislation, as well as interviews with leading legal scholars—reveals that during the past 15 years of one-party rule, California Democrats have worked tirelessly to import South Africa’s post-apartheid playbook to the Golden State.
