President Biden fended off a group of hecklers on Monday — telling one of them “you look crazy” — as he delivered his final speech before the midterm elections in a deeply Democratic part of Maryland.
“You’re a disgrace!” the first of multiple hecklers shouted at Biden during a rally for gubernatorial candidate Wes Moore just outside Washington.
“I tell you what, let him sing! Let the man sing,” Biden said, before reverse-heckling another disruptive guest.
“Hey man, don’t jump. You look crazy enough to jump,” the president told the second heckler, who was wearing a US flag top hat at the historically black Bowie State University.

President Joe Biden is certainly flirting with disaster here, but he pulled it off. Speaking at Bowie State University in Maryland, a historically black college or university (HBCU), Biden told the students that they’re just as smart and just as bright as those students at other schools that have endowments. As we say, it was a risky line, seeing as Biden in 2019 told a crowd in Iowa that “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”

SOMEBODY SET UP US THE BOMB: White House says Biden ‘comes from coal country’ amid flap over energy comments.
The White House maintained on Monday that President Joe Biden’s words about fossil fuels were “twisted” and that, as a Scranton native, he understands the importance of coal country.
Biden exposed an energy rift in the Democratic Party days before the midterm elections, and energy is an issue that could endanger their candidates in key races that will decide which party controls Congress next year.
“The president’s words, we believe, were twisted,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters at Monday’s briefing. “Anyone who knows President Biden knows he comes from coal country, from Scranton, Pennsylvania.”
Biden elicited a strong backlash from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) when he said coal plants would be shut down.
“We’re going to be shutting these plants down all across America and having wind and solar also providing tax credits to help families buy energy-efficient appliances,” Biden said.
Manchin blasted Biden’s comments as “not only outrageous and divorced from reality, they ignore the severe economic pain the American people are feeling because of rising energy costs.”
“No more drilling,” Biden also said when pressed by a New York rally attendee on drilling on federal land and in federal waters. This runs counter to the White House’s messaging on energy production, including his claim that oil companies should be drilling more when discussing the need to lower gas prices.

After severe devastation, voters get a chance to hold politicians accountable in the only way available to them today, by voting, and finally get some change.
While Biden and the Democrats have trotted out lies ranging from inflation (it’s transitory, it’s good for you, it’s corporations’ fault, it’s your fault, it’s Putin’s fault, etc.) to saying the economy is ”strong as hell,” people cannot be gaslit when they have to live with the consequences.
Whether it is at the local, state, or federal level, there are people running for reelection who have enabled a lot of destructive policy and new people running who supported these efforts and would do more of the same.
So much damage has been caused that it’s hard to encompass all the egregious economic and financial issues that have resulted from bad policy over the past two-plus years. Here’s a starter recap.
State and local politicians shuttered large sections of the economy, picking winners and losers and telling a large part of the population that they were “nonessential.” Small businesses were targeted, yet relief favored larger companies and was rampant with fraud.
They put in place or supported mandates that took away people’s livelihoods based on a political narrative instead of data and science.
They disrupted the learning and development of kids at all ages.

As the Wall Street Journal notes, “Musk’s strategy at Twitter might work at a startup, but Twitter is a mature company in an extremely competitive market, with little prospects for growth.” Musk’s version of Twitter could flameout at some point, but for the moment, it’s fun watching D-list celebrities and DNC-MSM journalists melting down over losing their special status.

JIM CLYBURN IS NOT TAKING THE MIDTERMS WELL: On Friday, The House Majority Whip told Fox News:
“This country is on track to repeat what happened in Germany when it was the greatest democracy going, when it elected a chancellor that then co-opted the media,” Clyburn told Fox News Digital on Thursday. “This past president called the press the enemy of the people. That is a bunch of crap. And that is what’s going on in this country.”
Clyburn is obviously echoing and amplifying the closing message the Democrats have been selling and that the public has not been buying. And in the belief that people tuning out your message must not be listening hard enough, Clyburn, the Democrats, and the MSM have decided to scream the same BS even louder hoping that sheer volume will make you relent.

What struck me about Clyburn’s statements was not his once again proving Godwin right. Nazi analogies are frequent; mostly from the Left these days, but conservatives do it too. I have done it, although I am hardly proud of it. It is just so easy. It also always fails to persuade. Even if the literal Nazis came back tomorrow it would take a while for people to take a description of them as Nazis seriously because the reference is so overused.
What struck me instead was the praising of the Weimar Republic as “the greatest democracy going.” Wait? What? Huh? Where did he get that?
The Weimar Republic is remembered as utterly failed. Hyperinflation, the complete collapse during the Depression, moral depravity.
I guess we have one (moral depravity), are headed toward two (hyperinflation), and by God I hope to avoid the third, but fear we may not.
Is that what Clyburn actually believes was the greatest democracy going? Better than the United States? A Republic that collapsed after a bit more than a decade, and one that wound up with Hitler being appointed dictator by the president,, due to the utter failure of the government and collapse of support?
Yesterday, Clyburn went even further, telling Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream, “Losing this democracy could very well be the end of the world:”
“I mean, what can you say? The guy said what he said, then immediately denied saying it. After Bream gave Clyburn an opportunity to correct his lie, he claimed he didn’t say what he said, and instead dropped the Hitler card on Trump. Then, as if his appearance wasn’t already self-demolished, Bream read Clyburn the direct quote, and he went off the rails as if it were Shannon Bream’s fault.”
I guess it has something to do with “election deniers,” a topic Clyburn knows quite a bit about:
Karl Rove reminded viewers on Fox News Channel during an appearance on Wednesday that if it were not for the help he received from an election denier, Joe Biden wouldn’t be president today. Just hours before Biden’s spur-of-the-moment address to the nation about the threat to democracy that voting for Republicans will cause, Rove brought up a little nugget from the past about Rep. James Clyburn.
Clyburn was an election denier before election deniers were cool. Rove said that in 2005, Clyburn promoted a conspiracy theory that voting machines were switching votes for Democrat John Kerry to Republican incumbent President George W. Bush.
And he was far from alone!
The transgender agenda appears to have weaseled its way onto the ballot in two states, but voters may not know it. Hidden in the language of two proposed state constitutional amendments is a “right” to transgender medical interventions that would undermine parental rights and make children vulnerable to “treatments” that would leave them scarred, stunted, and infertile, critics allege.
Michigan’s Proposal 3 would establish a “fundamental right to reproductive freedom” in the state constitution. The proposal’s text says this “entails the right to make and effectuate decisions about all matters relating to pregnancy, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion care, miscarriage management, and infertility care” (emphasis added).
The state’s Planned Parenthood chapter has disputed the claim that this amendment to the Michigan Constitution would have any impact on what it calls “gender-affirming care for minors.”
Vermont’s Proposal 5, which would add a new Article 22 to the Vermont Constitution, states “that an individual’s right to personal reproductive autonomy is central to the liberty and dignity to determine one’s own life course and shall not be denied or infringed unless justified by a compelling State interest achieved by the least restrictive means.”

It may not be something that CNN watchers are used to seeing, but President Joe Biden got hammered by a fact check from the network.
“Gas prices weren’t over $5 when Biden took office. The Social Security hike isn’t a Biden achievement. The Trump tax cut didn’t ‘only’ go to the top 1%. Biden didn’t cut the debt in half. Biden didn’t get Congress to pass a law to forgive student debt,” CNN fact checker Daniel Dale said.
“The unemployment rate. Biden said at the Florida rally on Tuesday: ‘Unemployment is down from 6.5 to 3.5%, the lowest in 50 years.’ He said at the New Mexico rally on Thursday: ‘Unemployment rate is 3.5% – the lowest it’s been in 50 years.
“But Biden didn’t acknowledge that September’s 3.5% unemployment rate was actually a tie for the lowest in 50 years – a tie, specifically, with three months of Trump’s administration, in late 2019 and early 2020,” the fact checker said.
“Since Biden uses these campaign speeches to favorably compare his own record to Trump’s record, that omission is significant.
“The unemployment rate rose to 3.7% in October; that number was revealed on Friday, after these Biden comments. The rate was 6.4% in January 2021, the month Biden took office,” he said.
And of course, low information leftist voters can’t understand why the press has pivoted suddenly: Liberals rage after New York Times reports on Biden’s ‘verbal fumbles’: ‘Trying to destroy us.’
A New York Times piece pointing out President Biden’s gaffes from his Tuesday speech angered liberals on Twitter.
Furious leftists on the platform swarmed the Times senior political reporter Maggie Haberman‘s tweet linking to the story, viciously insulting her and the report for making Biden and Democrats look bad.

Haberman drew more attention to the story by retweeting it from her own account. She may have anticipated some backlash for the piece, however, as she turned off Twitter replies to her post.
Even so, plenty of angry liberals quote-tweeted her post, and made their displeasure apparent.
University of Wisconsin-Madison professor Mark Copelovitch blasted Haberman and Baker for the piece. He tweeted, “1. ‘Excuse me,’ he said, ‘the war in Ukraine.’ 2. Beau very well may have died of brain cancer due to Iraq burn pit exposure. 3. ‘More pronounced’…were you not alive in the 1980s/90s/00s to hear Biden?”
He continued, saying, “4. Most of them haven’t been gaffes” and added, “5. Grow up.”
User Jill Levy lamented, “She is trying to destroy us.”
User “Beth” wrote, “It’s really sad what you think your job is, with your giant f—ing megaphone, during an attempted fascist takeover of our democracy.”
But the answer is quite simple: The media bail on Biden: “All polling points to Biden’s majorities in the House and Senate being wiped out come the November midterm elections. When that happens, and I mean the very next day, these innuendos and grumblings for Biden to step aside will become full-bore primal screams, and he won’t be able to survive them.”

You can still drive your old ones, but you can’t sell new ones. Do you like this concept?’ Granholm responded, ‘Yeah, I do. I think California really is leaning in. And of course, the federal government has a goal of — the president has announced — by 2030 that half of the vehicles in the U.S., the new ones sold would be electric.’”

Flashbacks: Why Aren’t Democrats Dancing for Joy About Sky-High Gas Prices?
In the service of reducing carbon emissions, Democrats have long openly worked to raise the price of fossil fuel energy. They have done so by proposing carbon taxes, cap-and-trade schemes, higher leasing fees, and other measures to jack up costs so people burn less of it. This is why Barack Obama said, in answer to a related question about electricity, that his energy plan would make prices “necessarily skyrocket.” This is why Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna praised BP’s CEO less than six months ago for pledging to reduce oil and gas production by 40% by 2030. Reductions in oil production and rising gasoline prices are part of the Democrats’ agenda and the Paris climate agenda.
There’s even more to it than that. Over the past decade, the Democrats’ overt hostility toward fossil fuels has even driven companies in the industry to sideline production, purely for public relations purposes, while prioritizing meaningless, politically correct carbon emissions goals. How can Democrats suddenly feign outrage at their incredible success in influencing the industry?
Is it a mystery why Democrats aren’t doing a sack dance and celebrating the salvation of planet earth?
There’s the small matter of their political survival, of course. It would be unseemly — like doing a jig at an Irish funeral — to celebrate other people’s pain. And it would cost many Democrats who are secretly jubilant about high gas prices their political careers.
Instead, Democrats are pretending to look for a way to “ease consumers’ pain.”
In September of 2019, after CNN’s seven hour “climate change town hall,” Bryan Preston wrote, “Seriously, if you see all of the above — which is just a sample — and vote for any of these people for any office at any level, it’s on you. If you like Venezuela, voting for any of them will bring you a whole lot of Venezuela.”
And as Kate of Small Dead Animals wrote after the CNN horror show, “Don’t make the mistake of thinking they don’t mean it.”

So despite Biden claiming today that high gas prices are Putin’s fault, is it fair to ask if Biden is on the payroll of Putin? As Walter Russell Mead wrote in 2017:
If Trump were the Manchurian candidate that people keep wanting to believe that he is, here are some of the things he’d be doing:
Limiting fracking as much as he possibly could
Blocking oil and gas pipelines
Opening negotiations for major nuclear arms reductions
Cutting U.S. military spending
Trying to tamp down tensions with Russia’s ally Iran.
