ACE OF SPADES: Make America America Again.

It is just beyond revolting, if not completely predictable, that in the wake of the second assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump that the loudest, shrillest voices within the Democrat Party and the media – which as we all know is in point of fact a redundancy – have the unmitigated, radioactive temerity to actually blame him for the attempts on his life. After almost every second of every day for nine straight years of comparing him to Adolph Hitler and sliming anyone who supports him as not only a racist bigot but of willing to throw those unlike them into concentration camps or worse to fulfill the alleged goal of turning America into a white Christian nationalist theocracy (a hoary old retread of a theme going back to Ronald Reagan if not to Barry Goldwater) Projection ain’t just a river in Egypt.

It’s kind of funny since mere days before the 2008 election, Barack Obama promised to “fundamentally transform” the United States of America. Into what, he never said, but judging from the poisoned rhetoric of his apostate priest and confessor, Jeremiah Wright, as well as the words and deeds of his likely real father and mentor Frank Marshall Davis, an avowed Stalinist and Soviet agent, it was no stretch of the imagination to connect the dots. In point of fact, considering everything that is happening here at home and quite a bit of what’s going on abroad we are only beginning to reap the whirlwind of what Obama has just begun to sow.

All things considered, the fact that Donald Trump openly ran to stop that in an effort to Make America Great Again, and that he handily beat a machine intent on continuing the destruction with Hillary Clinton as the combined Eva Peron/Lucretia Borgia as its leader was in and of itself nothing short of miraculous.

As even Kamala now grudgingly admits, it’s time to “Turn the Page” on the failed policies of the incumbent, who is now seeking what would effectively be his fourth term in office.

SCIENCE! Nobel prize-winner tallies two more retractions, bringing total to 13.

Gregg Semenza, a professor of genetic medicine and director of the vascular program at Johns Hopkins’ Institute for Cell Engineering in Baltimore, shared the 2019 Nobel prize in physiology or medicine for “discoveries of how cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability.”

Since pseudonymous sleuth Claire Francis and others began using PubPeer to point out potential duplicated or manipulated images in Semenza’s work in 2019, the researcher has retracted 12 papers. A previous retraction from 2011 for a paper co-authored with Naoki Mori – who with 31 retractions sits at No. 25 on our leaderboard – brings the total to 13.

The authors requested the latest pair of retractions, published September 4 in Cancer Research, according to the notices, which also mention “an institutional review by Johns Hopkins University.”

I’d “trust the science” like I once did if the scientists were still as trustworthy.

CNN POUNCES ON TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT: CNN Worries That Trump Assassination Attempts Are Helping Him Politically.

Juliette Kayyem, a former Department of Homeland Security official under Obama, labelled the situation a “problem” and “unfortunate” because it is making Trump more popular.

“I really don’t care what you feel about him, or Harris,” Kayyem said referring to Trump, adding “I mean, this is, this is the expectation that he will be safe.”

Kayyem continued, “And the reason why this is, you know, in some ways, you know, you said how close the election is, the problem is this is a safety issue that is being thrown into a very intense political environment in which the very fact of an assassination, a constitutional moment, because it’s, it could have impacted voters, will be used for political purposes.”

“And that, to me, is, is just as not as a, you know, exceptionally unfortunate, because whatever your beliefs are, we do deserve to have campaigns that are not part that where violence isn’t being used as either a sword or a shield,” she added.

VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS BELIEVES IT’S TIME TO “TURN THE PAGE” ON THE INCUMBENT:

Harris has certainly failed over the last four years, so yes, let’s “turn the page” and move on from her time in office. As Scott Johnson writes, “Her campaign is run by Obama hands who want to serve up a fourth Obama term. She is the man, so to speak. War is peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is strength. Turn the page. Speaking for myself, we want to turn the page. We want to turn the page from the Biden-Harris administration. Truth in advertising would require a slight revision of the Harris campaign’s theme to Bookmark the page.”

OLD-SCHOOL LIBERALS AND ‘EXPRESSIVE INDIVIDUALISM:’ If that term, Expressive Individualism (EI), doesn’t sound familiar, it’s from back in the day of the 1950s and 1960s when folks we know today as classical liberals held sway.

Robert P. George makes an important point in an AEI essay that, while such folks were clearly right on issues like civil rights and freedom of expression, they made what he calls “a grave error” in adapting the analysis of sociologist Robert Bellah’s EI.

“Thus was ushered in what I have termed the ‘Age of Feeling.’ Faith and reason as the objective arbiters of truth and goodness were essentially abandoned by liberals in the 1960s,” George explains.

“While lip service continued to be paid to ‘reason’ and, in mainline churches, even to some loose conception of ‘faith,’ for many people feeling became the standard of judgment — the ultimate measure of right and wrong, and of whether to perform (or approve of) an action or not,” George continues.

What Bellah called EI was not a new thing, of course, just a modern term for a very old problem among we humans — the desire to be subject to no rules, no limits and no laws, otherwise known as the idolatry of self.

OLD AND BUSTED: Exploding Cigars.

The New Hotness? Hundreds of Hezbollah members reportedly injured by exploding pagers.

No word yet on who could have done this:

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): This is great since it neutralizes a lot of key personnel while wrecking a “secure” communications network, at a crucial moment. It should also worry Raytheon, et al. The Biden Administration is trying to pressure Israel by stopping arms flows, but this hack did something that no million-dollar missile can do. As the war in Ukraine is demonstrating, there are a lot of capable low-budget alternatives to expensive missiles nowadays, and encouraging customers to come up with them is bad salesmanship.

And note the lack of collateral damage, as shown in this video:

UPDATE (From Ed): Paging Hezbollah: A Special Message Just For You From Your Friendly Neighborhood Mossad.

MAYBE THAT’LL DO THE TRICK: Putin Orders Russian Army to Increase Troop Size by 180K. “It also marks the third expansion of the military since Putin launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Prior troop increases included 137,000 in August 2022 and another 170,000 last December.”

Russia has the men and Ukraine is forced to fight with one hand tied behind its back, so on a long enough timeline maybe they crack — but at what cost to Russia? And in the end, for what gain?

ILLEGALS VOTING: Democrats and their media allies constantly claim voter fraud is a non-existent problem, but that’s not the view of experts interviewed by Ben Johnson of The Washington Stand.

“’A 2014 academic journal found that 6.4 percent of noncitizens voted in 2008,’ Kerri Toloczko, executive director of Election Integrity Network and senior advisor to the Only Citizens Vote Coalition, told The Washington Stand. ‘There are about 24 million noncitizens in the U.S. right now. If they voted only at the same rate of 6.4 percent this year as they did in 2008, they would account for 1.5 million votes,’ Johnson reports.

“That ponderous number of unlawful votes may just be the tip of the iceberg. ‘Based on the increased noncitizen activity at state DMVs, and the work of left-wing voter registration activists, this 6.4 percent could be much higher than it was in 2008. We could be looking at over two million unlawful noncitizen votes,’ she told TWS.”

DECOUPLING: Chinese company develops 65nm-capable lithography machine for domestic chipmaking — system still trails behind TSMC and Nikon, though. “The new systems represent a breakthrough in China’s domestic chip-making efforts, but the machines are not yet commercially available. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) highlighted these advancements but did not disclose the companies responsible for the machines.”

Closer to home: Intel to split factories into ‘independent subsidiary,’ delay plants in Europe, Asia.

MAKE THEM PAY: Pro-cop cafe owner wins $4 million after Boise State bullying: University violated her First Amendment rights, jury concluded. “The jury awarded Fendley a total of $3 million in damages for business losses, mental and emotional distress, personal humiliation and lost reputation. The jury also ruled Webb, now a University of Montana administrator, was liable for another $1 million in punitive damages.”

This is nice, though I’d like to see a zero on the end of those damages.

A HUNDRED BILLION HERE AND A HUNDRED BILLION THERE…: Congress Let Thieves Steal HOW MUCH in COVID Relief?

Remember that time Congress spent trillions of dollars we didn’t have to provide relief from the unnecessary and illegal lockdowns? And then actual Americans only received a pittance while the resulting inflation murdered our paychecks after we were mercifully allowed to eventually go back to work?

Yeah, it’s so much worse than that, according to Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce Chairman Pete Sessions (R-Texas). While the name of Sessions’s subcommittee is a mouthful, what they’ve uncovered has got to be the biggest theft in the history of — well, everything.
