OH: Mainstream science mulls ‘global moratorium’ on COVID vaccines as cancers rise, boosters flub.

The Springer Nature medical journal Cureus, sibling to Nature and Scientific American, published a peer-reviewed paper by high-profile mRNA vaccine critics last month, showing the growing mainstream openness to data and arguments once nitpicked if not ignored by publishers and suppressed by academia and Big Tech.

The feds have struggled to keep interest high in each new formulation of the COVID vaccines, with fewer than 12% of minors, 22% of adults and just 41% of those 65 and up taking the 2023-2024 vaccines, according to the latest weekly National Immunization Survey.

The dam of The Science, which once limited the flow of research questioning the integrity of trial data and wisdom of one-size-fits-all vaccination recommendations to a trickle, now struggles to stop a worldwide deluge as new cracks emerge seemingly every week.

While early reports from the mRNA trials said the novel vaccines “could greatly reduce COVID-19 symptoms,” re-analysis of Pfizer’s trial data “identified statistically significant increases” in serious adverse events (SAEs) in the intervention group, which then became unmistakable after emergency use authorization, the Cureus paper says.

HOW NOT TO SAVE A DROWNING NETWORK: CNN Tied Its Fortunes to Jim Acosta, and Now They’re Both Sinking. “Acosta made his name showboating in the White House Briefing Room against Donald Trump but his fortunes — just like CNN’s — diminished once he didn’t have Trump to kick around anymore. Acosta, for all his unseemly rants, was just one more well-coiffed cog in CNN’s 24/7/365 version of Oceania’s daily Two Minutes Hate.”

THIS IS A BIG F**KING DEAL: Biden Calls Netanyahu a ‘Bad F**king Guy.’ “Current and former Biden aides who have witnessed and been on the receiving end of such outbursts” say that he tends to scream abuse (Axios calls them “admonitions”) on the order of ‘G** d***it, how the f**k don’t you know this?!,’ ‘Don’t f**king bullsh*t me!’ and ‘Get the f**k out of here!’”

UPDATE (From Ed): This leak (if it actually happened) is likely aimed at propping up Joe’s far left, anti-Israeli base. Recall in 2014 when Obama stenographer Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic was handed the similar story that “anonymous White House officials called the prime minister of Israel ‘chickenshit,’” which surely played equally well with Obama-Biden voters.

By the way, a juxtaposition (not by me) from back in the day for comparison:

EVEN GOLDFISH: Outrageous ‘Pet Tax’ Bill Introduced in Colorado House By Democrats Raises Concerns.

Colorado House Bill 24-1163 aims to impose a tax of up to $8.50 on every pet in the state, including invertebrates, with the tax being payable annually.

Not only does this bill require pet owners to register their pets with the state, but it also mandates the assignment of a “designated caregiver” for each pet. Failure to name a caregiver would result in an annual cost of $25 per pet.

There is no limit or cap on the taxation, meaning that pet owners could potentially face exorbitant costs. This tax would be in addition to any local taxes, such as dog licenses, further burdening pet owners.

The absurdity of this proposal becomes evident when considering the implications for pet owners with a larger number of pets.

For instance, someone with 100 aquarium fish could end up paying $850 every year. And if they fail to register a designated caregiver, the cost for those 100 fish would skyrocket to $2,500 annually. Similarly, owning ten pet reptiles could result in an annual tax of $85 to $250.

Failing to register one’s pets could lead to penalties of up to $100 per animal, which could quickly escalate into thousands of dollars for unsuspecting pet owners.

Plus: “The only animals exempted from this tax are ‘livestock,’ including cows, horses, sheep, and others raised for food or fiber production.”

Well, there’s a perverse incentive I’d rather not think about.

WOEING: ‘Progressive decline’ in Boeing’s standards, says Emirates airline president.

Emirates President Tim Clark told the Financial Times in an interview published Sunday that Boeing was in the “last chance saloon.” Boeing has faced scrutiny since one of the company’s 737 Max 9 jets suffered a midair blowout during an Alaska Airlines flight last month, necessitating an emergency landing.

More than 100 Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft were temporarily grounded as the planes were inspected due to the incident, but they have since begun returning to the air.

Clark said Boeing needs to “get their manufacturing processes under review so there are no corners cut,” saying the company must instill a “safety culture which is second to none.” Emirates is a major customer of Boeing and made a $52 billion aircraft purchase from the company last November.

“Will Boeing restore itself to its former glory? Of course it will. Will Boeing continue to produce and design great aeroplanes well put together reliable for the customer base? I’m sure they will. But they’ve got to put the house in order at the moment. And this is a major shift in the priorities,” Clark said in the interview.

That would be nice but it’s going to take new management instead of more of the same that the CEO-apparent seems to bring to the table.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: A Quick Ride on the RFK Jr Third Party Unicorn Distraction. “Because the potential for normalcy to be blown out of the water even worse than it was in 2020, a lot of people are willing to stretch the boundaries of credulity when pondering the viability of candidates not named Trump or Biden.”

BIDENOMICS IS WORKING: Some Americans have become saddled with credit card debt as rent and everyday prices remain high. “Americans held more than $1.05 trillion on their credit cards in the third quarter of 2023, a record, and a figure certain to grow once the fourth-quarter data is released by Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. next month. A recent report from the credit rating company Moody’s showed that credit card delinquency rates and charge-off rates, or the percent of loans that a bank believes will never be repaid, are now well above their 2019 levels and are expected to keep climbing.”

Weird how every month I see reports like this one about ever-increasing credit card debt when every month I’m also told how great the employment situation is.

GREAT MOMENTS IN JOURNO-LISM: George Stephanopoulos Just Did WHAT to JD Vance? “Would it kill Stephanopoulos to stop acting like a Democrat operative and conduct himself like an actual journalist just once, or would his head explode, ‘Scanners’-style, if he merely considered it?”

DISPATCHES FROM THE BLUE ZONES: Police warn shoppers of new crime trend at Bay Area Trader Joe’s locations. “Shoppers are advised to remain vigilant, keep wallets in a zipped bag close to their body and tell employees if they notice any suspicious behavior. The Danville Police Department also recommends taking it a step further and using a carabiner to secure your bag to your cart, the department wrote in a Friday Facebook post.”

Carabiners — the new Bay Area fashion must-have.
