SEE THIS MOVIE: ‘Hit Man.’ “This is an old-school Hollywood script that director/co-writer Richard Linklater and Powell have written that lets the stars lure the audience in with charm and sex appeal, while slowly ramping up the tension.”

IT’S ACTUALLY WORSE THAN I THOUGHT WHEN THE NEWS BROKE LAST WEEK: Adobe Just Wants Unlimited Use Of Everything You Create. “Adobe has just changed the terms for subscription applications like Photoshop. Nothing big, just a demand of unlimited use of everything you ever create, forever. Oh, and you’re locked out of your existing work until you agree.”

Adobe is forcing users to cross the line between “Whose software is it, anyway?” to “Whose work is it, anyway?”

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, REAL THIEVES:

Nifty tech, I suppose — but without arrests and prosecutions, what’s the point?

THEY’RE ON THE OTHER SIDE:

WESTERN COLONIALISM ENDED THIS ALONG WITH THE SLAVE TRADE: Study confirms funerary huts at King Ghezo’s palace built with blood of human sacrifice victims. “King Ghezo ruled Dahomey from 1818 to 1858, a period marked by military conquests and the transformation of the region’s economy, heavily reliant on the slave trade. The kingdom of Dahomey, with its capital at Abomey, was a dominant power in West Africa, known for its aggressive raids on neighboring regions to capture slaves. These captives were either traded for European goods, forced to work on royal plantations, or sacrificed in elaborate voodoo ceremonies.”

LYING LIAR MAINTAINS LIE: Ex-DNI James Clapper says he won’t retract letter about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Former Obama Director of National Intelligence James Clapper says he would not retract the letter he signed about first son Hunter Biden’s laptop.

In 2020, Clapper along with 51 other officials signed a letter saying that Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” was Russian disinformation.

When Clapper recently was asked if he would retract the letter he signed, he told Fox News in a one word answer, “no.”

Any news organization that gives a damn about its reputation would blackball Clapper.

I WONDER WHY THIS ISN’T A BIGGER STORY: NYTimes Hacked, Source Code Stolen. “We are talking about a 334 gigabyte archive containing supposedly 3.6 million and some change files, individual source code files. Massive. Off-the-charts massive.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Hostage Rescue Brings Out the Worst In the Worst People on Earth. “As is always the case with the leftists, there are no limits to how low they can go. The anti-Semitic rage we’ve seen from them these past eight months has been beyond awful. Unfortunately, they found new depths to plumb after the Israel Defense Forces rescued four hostages last week. They immediately looked for ways to taint a great cause for celebration — especially given the fact that many had lost hope that any hostages remained alive.”

CHANGE: Far-right gains in EU election deal stunning defeats to France’s Macron and Germany’s Scholz.

An initial projection provided by the European Union indicated far-right parties have made big gains at the European Parliament.

In France, the National Rally party of Marine Le Pen dominated the polls to such an extent that Macron immediately dissolved the national parliament and called for new elections, a massive political risk since his party could suffer more losses, hobbling the rest of his presidential term that ends in 2027.
…
Macron acknowledged the thud of defeat. “I’ve heard your message, your concerns, and I won’t leave them unanswered,” he said, adding that calling a snap election only underscored his democratic credentials.

In Germany, the most populous nation in the 27-member bloc, projections indicated that the AfD overcame a string of scandals involving its top candidate to rise to 16.5%, up from 11% in 2019. In comparison, the combined result for the three parties in the German governing coalition barely topped 30%.

European governments have been so bad for so long that it’s impossible to tell whether any changes will lead to improvements or if they’ll be just as bad but in new ways.

LARRY KUDLOW: ‘Look under the hood’ of Biden’s May jobs report and you’ll see the problem.

Once again, full-time jobs fell 605,000 in May. This is not a monthly problem — this is a long-playing record. It’s mirror image: Part-time jobs gained 286,000. So if full-timers are plunging and part-timers are surging, that cannot be a healthy economic sign. Additionally, in just May alone, 414,000 immigrants, both legal and illegal, gained jobs, while 663,000 native-born Americans lost jobs. This discouraging pattern has been going on for quite some time, but the trend line has accelerated significantly during the Biden years.

Now, in terms of the ongoing Biden affordability crisis, if you call through the numbers over the past 12 months, the combination of average hourly earnings — that’s wages — for production people — working folks — that times, hours worked, you get a proxy for their income, and that income number comes to only 3.4% increase, which is about the same as the consumer price index, which means they’re not getting ahead of the ongoing inflation.

Indeed, over Biden’s entire term, real wages have fallen while all these prices have exploded.

Everything is going swimmingly.

TO BE FAIR, HE’S A KNOWN PLAGIARIST:

Biden got drummed out — laughed out? — of the 1988 Democrat presidential primaries for exactly this kind of thing, back when we were a better country.

LEAVE THEM KIDS ALONE: The race is not always to the swift when kids play SEL sportybal.

Coaches need training in how to help student-athletes cope with stress and learn self-control, according to social-emotional-learning advocates, writes Lauraine Langreo in Education Week. Massachusetts legislators are considering requiring state education officials to publish guidelines for a social-emotional-learning curriculum in middle and high school athletic programs.

SEL skills can be incorporated into the sport, said Andrew Tucker, the director of policy for the nonprofit Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, or CASEL. If the team loses a game, “how do you as a coach lift your team back up? Do you teach them that this is one game, that these emotions you’re feeling are valid? What are you feeling, and why are you feeling that way? How can we get you to a place where you’re feeling OK?”

Sports already teach social-emotional skills, writes Rick Hess. “Kids make friends. They get mentored. They fail. They sweat. They strive toward a common goal, together with teammates of varied races and backgrounds. They learn about practice and persistence.”

Hess nailed it. SEL is just another way to insert ruinous lefty programing into something that works.
