THE LIBERAL MEDIA’S PLAGIARISM ATTACK ON BILL ACKMAN’S WIFE BLEW UP IN THEIR FACES:
Claudine Gay is no longer the president of Harvard after 50 examples of plagiarism were exposed throughout her academic career. It was a charge she could not survive. However, Gay should’ve been booted for her atrocious remarks regarding calls for Jewish genocide on college campuses and whether that was an activity that, at the very least, constituted harassment. She could not. Days later, Gay’s academic record was exposed as fraudulent.
The liberal media couldn’t defend it, as professors, including Harvard, admitted that there were papers where “duplicated language” was discovered with no attribution. The Left claimed that Gay’s resignation was soaked in racism and that conservatives were weaponizing plagiarism against academia. Excuse me, it’s not like the latter is some minor infraction—it’s a career-killing move. People in this field already ‘weaponize’ it to keep scholars accountable.
This clown show set up shop at Business Insider, which opted to go after the wife of Bill Ackman, a billionaire hedge fund manager who is pro-Israel. Ackman has refused to hire any pro-Hamas scum, warning that blacklists could be drawn up for recent graduates wanting a career in finance who hold pro-terrorist sympathies.
Ackman’s wife, Neri Oxman, allegedly plagiarized portions of her doctoral dissertation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She apologized for missed citations, but these oversights aren’t like Gay’s plagiarism. The reporting is so shoddy that the publisher for Business Insider wants an internal review because he wasn’t pleased with the work (via Wall Street Journal):

I learned today that at least four or five other media companies rejected the plagiarism story before it was accepted by Business Insider.
Think about that. The story did not meet the standards for accuracy, evidence and/or ethics of the other media companies they approached.
As you might expect, they went to the highest profile publications first. How far down the list do you have to go before you get to Business Insider?
Likely, a lot further going forward after Ackman is done with them.

People who are in the United States without explicit permission, who arenon-citizens, have an extensive set of rights. The people who are paying for them have an extensive set of obligations.
This puts things rather clearly:
Students at a Brooklyn high school were kicked out of the classroom to make room for nearly 2,000 migrants who were evacuated from a controversial tent shelter due to a monster storm closing in on the Big Apple.
The city made the move amid concerns that a massive migrant tent at Floyd Bennett Field would collapse from torrential rains and gusting winds — packing them instead into the second-floor gym at James Madison High School five miles away.
The school’s neighbors were not keen on the last-minute decision.
LOL, as they say, at that last one. As if that’s going to make a difference. You could have a majority – say, 51% – of the locals disagree with this, but going along with their objections would be mob rule, not Our Democracy.
The students will now “attend” “class” “remotely,” which consists of completing an assignment given by the teacher. No actual lectures.
As a thought exercise, imagine another era where A) there wasn’t a constant stream of unvetted people entering the country and being distributed around and given benefits, because it was difficult to enter the country illegally, and those who did so were not facilitated in any way by the government, and B) the idea of suspending school because non-citizens need the building would be met with incomprehension by people of many political opinions. Not the Reds, who would regard any largess given to non-citizens as useful and just, but everyone else.

Oh wait, did I just say, “The story quoted above?” But wait, there’s more!, as the ’70s era commercial announcer would declare: “This isn’t just happening in Brooklyn (which voted 75% for Joe Biden),” Ace of Spades adds. “As the Federalist points out, American children are being sacrificed to prioritize the Newer and Better Americans all across the country.”

PEAK GRAUNIAD: The Guardian blames the Gaza war for global warming. Really! Let’s look at the numbers.
Wait, what? Half of this supposedly huge amount comes from US cargo planes flying to Israel?
If that is true, then every airplane in the skies is putting out huge amounts of CO2 – which indeed they really do. A single transatlantic flight generates hundreds of metric tons of CO2.
So a little research shows that all aviation traffic worldwide puts out over 1 billion tons of CO2 every year. That comes out to about 2.8 million tons from aviation every day. According to these calculations, Israel is directly and indirectly responsible for less than 5000 metric tons of CO2 a day – which is about 0.17% of what is used by all airplanes every day. It is the equivalent of about 25 flights from London to New York. And aviation is responsible for about 2% of CO2 emissions worldwide, meaning the war in Gaza is adding roughly an additional 0.0034% of all CO2 emissions.
Looking at it another way, the world generates about 36.8 billion tons of CO2 a year, which is 100 million tons a day. If the Gaza war generates 5000 tons a day, that increases the amount of CO2 by 1/20,000th.
Does that sound like it has an “‘immense’ effect on climate catastrophe”?
This article is just manipulating numbers to make Israel look bad. And, let’s face it, anyone who looks at a map of the world and thinks that anything happening in Gaza is having an “immense” effect on the CO2 worldwide is an idiot.
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor and catastrophically increased global warming?! Forget it, the Grauniad is rolling.

Then Biden reportedly said he would not accept a resignation if Austin were to offer one.
This is a pattern. An administration led by a declining octogenarian, lacking in vigor, focus and mission, is incapable of demanding excellence from its staff.

It’s the same old story: When the staffers of a leftist politician object to their employer’s policies or positions, anonymously, the legacy media faithfully reports that this is done out of respect, even love, for the principal and his/her positions. When the staffers of a politician on the right do this – and by on the right, I mean anyone to the right of Che Guevara – they are bravely coming forth to expose corruption, bad faith deals, and oppressive behavior on the part of their principle.
You can set your watch by it.
Here’s what is happening here, spin by the legacy media notwithstanding: The Biden Administration doesn’t have any idea what much of their staff really thinks, and they have zero message discipline. They have lost control, if indeed they ever had it. Since the word go they have relied on DEI hires and checking off “diversity” boxes instead of experience and competence; they are running cover for a principal who has very little idea of what goes on from day to day, and as the high-pressure campaign season kicks into high gear with the first primaries, it’s very apparent that they aren’t up for the task.
Firing some staffers — even if the White House still has no clue who is leaking — would at least send the remainders that there is some level of accountability. But as we’ve seen, absolutely none exists within this administration.

Or all of the above, as even the long suffering citizens of San Fran must know by now.

President Joe Biden was kept in the dark over his defense secretary’s cancer diagnosis and subsequent hospitalizations for about a month, the White House admitted Tuesday, as details of Lloyd Austin’s deeply unusual disappearance raised questions about leadership of the world’s top military.
The 70-year-old’s failure to disclose his hospitalization has prompted an extraordinary row in Washington and could be embarrassing for Biden, who faces multiple foreign crises in his reelection campaign year, including in Israel and Ukraine.

Every time I speak to a conservative audience, I am asked who is really in charge in the White House. My answer has been that the president is in command. After all, institutions take on the character of their leaders. If all the White House has to offer is excuses, if decisions are made either slowly or randomly, if the communications team and the president and vice president seem to live on different planets, if incompetence and mismanagement appear throughout the government, it is because the chief executive allows it. No conspiracy is required to explain the ineptitude. This is Joe Biden we are talking about.
Lately, though, I have been having second thoughts. Not that Barack Obama or Ron Klain or Dr. Jill are running the show in secret. What I have been wondering, instead, is whether anyone is leading the government at all. There is no power, either overt or covert, in or behind the throne. The throne is empty.
Think of the economy, the border, and Ukraine. From time to time, Biden addresses these issues. He may even answer questions about them. The White House sends out press releases describing its latest initiatives. Vice President Harris or the second gentleman pops up somewhere to talk about all the good she and he are doing.
Yet each of these elements—the president, his staff, his spokesperson, his vice president, his policy—comes across as disconnected, discombobulated, as if each inhabits a separate sphere of activity. Whether because of Biden’s age, or his weekend trips to Delaware, or years of remote work, or lower-level staff turnover, or a painstakingly slow decision-making process, or ideological stubbornness, or a lack of a strategic plan, this administration drifts from crisis to crisis, and from one bad headline to the next. And nothing improves.
Ultimately though, we sorta-kinda know who is in charge: Obama’s Coming Fourth Term.

President Biden paid tribute to “the passion” of pro-Hamas protesters in his campaign event at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston yesterday. The White House denominated the speech a “political event” in the transcript of Biden’s remarks. C-SPAN has posted video of the event here. Biden is introduced by his political savior, Rep. James Clyburn, and begins speaking at about 8:00.
I didn’t think the IRS blessed political events in churches. See the IRS note here. Perhaps I misunderstand, or perhaps the church is availing itself of the Hunter Biden exception to enforcement of the Internal Revenue Code.

Around the same time yesterday a passionate dad fought through pro-Hamas protesters blocking the Williamsburg Bridge. The Daily Mail has a good account here. The New York Post covers it here. The Post editors dub him “Angry Mr. Brooklyn” and toast him as “the new hero of New York.” You won’t be hearing much about the dad’s passion from Biden, but this dad won the day.

DUANE PATTERSON: ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt to Houston Texans’ QB C.J. Stroud: Let’s Talk About Something Besides Your Faith, M’kay?
When I saw this, I had two immediate reactions. First, what a humble, decent young man Coleridge Bernard Stroud, IV seems to be. He is fearless about his Christian faith, and it genuinely seems to animate him in a way sufficient to provide calm in the middle of the chaos of a professional football team needing a win to make it into the playoffs. That was very refreshing to see. My other thought was that ESPN must have hated this with the heat of a thousand suns. He’s one of the brightest young quarterbacks on the horizon – tons of talent, lots of poise, but…that constant Jesus talk. I’m sure suits at the sports network are trying to figure out how to get him to tone that down a bit, or even better, a lot. Then, he’d be the perfect Cinderella story.

Niko Collins is one of the Texans’ new wide receivers, and he had himself a phenomenal game as well, literally from the first play to the final winning drive. He also happens to have graduated from the University of Michigan, who will be vying for the national championship this week. Stroud is an alum of The Ohio State University, two opposing teams of perhaps the fiercest rivalry in college football. Van Pelt tried to exploit that rivalry and how it affects their working relationship. Stroud answered it about perfect, but being a young player, gave Van Pelt what he was looking for. “Yeah, it sucks that he went there.”
Van Pelt laughed out loud. He got his payoff. He replied with, “You finally answered a question honestly.” [Emphasis mine — Ed.] Excuse me, what was that? All of his previous answers about his faith were dishonest? C.J. Stroud is a liar when he professes his faith? No one honestly believes in Jesus? Those that tell you publicly they do are scam artists? Is that what I’m sensing from the anchor of ESPN? I know he was trying to do jock talk, but the kid is who he is, not who Scott Van Pelt or some sports network would like him to be. It makes you wonder if there’s any record of hostility towards Christianity from Van Pelt.
Van Pelt is used to being the interviewer, not the interviewee, but in the heat of live TV, it was quite a Kinsley gaffe from the veteran sports anchor. I had flashbacks to listening to California Bay Area sports radio’s KNBR 680 in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, where the anchors would invariably get the vapors after they played audio clips of an athletic superstar thanked God for his talents and career success. (And openly loathe on the air about having to follow the simulcast of Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in the morning.)

DISPATCHES FROM THE EDUCATION APOCALYPSE: Josh Barro: Universities Are Not on the Level.
What seems to be happening here is they are suffering from Chris Rufo Derangement Syndrome. That is, they know conservative activist Chris Rufo is a bad guy, and therefore the only way they can analyze a question on which he has opined is by assuming that the opposite of whatever he said was true. If Rufo says Gay plagiarized, then she must not have plagiarized, regardless of whatever near-duplicate paragraphs we can see with our own eyes. In addition to being a terrible approach to learning the truth, this mental model endows Rufo with tremendous power: If you have Rufo Derangement Syndrome, all Chris Rufo has to do to make you look like a total idiot is be right about something, once.
And so we got a lot of idiotic statements. Gay was merely guilty of “duplicative language,” the Harvard Corporation said, back when it was still defending her appointment. We were told that everybody does it: “Claudine Gay has resigned on the basis of a plagiarism charge that could have been leveled at anyone we know via the power of text mining applied without sound standards of how to assess the results,” wrote Jo Gludi, a history professor at Emory. (Really? Anyone we know?) Charles Blow even wrote in the New York Times that the expectation that the president of Harvard should not plagiarize (or should not be the subject of “questions about missing citations and quotation marks,” as he more verbosely described plagiarism) constitutes a “Wonder Woman problem” in which black women in positions of power “are trapped in prisons of others’ demands for perfection.”7
The demand that we should define academic honesty down in order to address the fact that Harvard’s first black female president is a plagiarist is insulting to academics of all races who don’t copy other people’s works, even the “banal” parts of them. And the insistence that this is how it always was, that actually this kind of copying is a standard industry practice, is just gaslighting. I went to college. I know that’s not true.

HOWARD STERN FINALLY GOT COVID, BACK TO LOCKDOWN:
To be clear, it wasn’t only Covid that turned Stern into a depressing sponge. It was also Donald Trump.
Stern spends hours a week on his radio show complaining about Trump, calling him a Nazi, and foreshadowing a bloody civil war between MAGAs and wokes.
“I am a woke motherfucker, and I love it,” Stern declared last month. “I support people who want to be transgender. I’m for the vaccine. I won’t get behind Trump.”
He is, admittedly, on Team Woke.
Today’s Howard Stern is what happens when years of fear and indignation take over an already neurotic figure.
He’s Stephen King with a microphone. He’s Keith Olbermann with a wife and slightly less severe case of psychosis. And he’s headed back to the basement.
