WE ALL ENJOYED THIS AN UNSEEMLY AMOUNT DIDN’T WE:  Don’t Fear the Beeper.

A WEBCAM VIEW FROM THE GULFPORT, FLORIDA CASINO, located near St. Petersburg. Not that close to the impact point of Helene, but an impressive storm surge.

And here’s one from Downtown Gulfport.

UPDATE: Okay, I’m not sure if I killed those or the storm did, but here’s one from Appalachicola, closer to where the storm will strike.

MORE: Okay, now that one’s dead. It’s like Heisenberg, I can see them or I can link them, but not both, apparently.

OPEN THREAD: Do your best work.

HITTING HARD:

“Kamala is for they/them, Trump is for you.”

THAT WAS WHEN IT WAS ALLOWED TO SPEAK CRITICALLY OF KAMALA, BEFORE THE PARTY DECREED CHANGE: Holy Holistic Horse Patooties II: ‘Daily Show’ Called It — in May.

Note well how the Daily Show anticipated Harris’ use of “holistic” as a rhetorical crutch. Also. listen to the laughter of the live audience in the background. In mid-May, everyone was in on the joke — everyone. “Speaking without thinking” was so much of a hallmark of Kamala Harris’ persona that even Left-leaning comedians targeted it, and to great comic effect.

In May. When Harris was the running mate, not the nominee. And even more specifically, Comedy Central produced and aired this skit when Harris was a running mate that had Democrats and progressives arguing whether Joe Biden should dump her from the ticket, rather than the other way around.

In May, when everyone knew why the White House had kept Harris from media engagement for almost three years.

After the presidential debate on June 27, and especially after Biden’s withdrawal on July 21, the narratives all abruptly changed. No longer did Harris demonstrate “speaking without thinking” — the media narrative changed to “Joy!” It’s almost as if Dahlia Rose Hibiscus sent out an urgent telegram to the Journolist demanding a new “holistic” appreciation for word salads. And that narrative leads directly to Ruhle’s declaration on another comedy show, Bill Maher’s Real Time, that Harris’ inability to answer questions should be no impediment to voters in this election cycle.

And ever since July 21, the media has walked in lockstep to enforce the Narrative of Joy, and to scold anyone who thinks that Harris is anything less than an inscrutable genius.

Yep.

Related: Janet Jackson did not apologize for saying that Kamala Harris is not black. “Elmasri’s statement to the Daily Beast comes after Jackson’s official rep issued a statement to the media Sunday, saying that the ‘apology’ made on behalf of Jackson from ‘manager’ Elmasri was not authorized by her at all. In fact, this Jackson rep told People magazine and other outlets that Elmasri is not her manager, nor is he affiliated with her camp. The rep said that Randy Jackson is the singer’s manager.”

IT CERTAINLY SEEMS LIKE NETANYAHU RECENTLY GAVE MOSSAD A HUNTING LICENSE WITH NO BAG LIMIT:

More to come, I’m sure.

Update: And another one down.

THE ONES ON MY SUV ARE HOLDING UP WELL. THEY’RE ALL-TERRAIN OFF-ROAD-CAPABLE. The ones on my last SUV were garbage “eco tires” that would go flat from a harsh look. And you could only swap them out for more of the same. How Long Do Tires Last?

NO. NEXT QUESTION? Is free speech just for nice speech? Students (and adults) need to know civics.

Less than half of Americans can name most of the rights protected under the First Amendment, according to a May survey by Penn’s Annenberg Public Policy Center. Freedom of speech — which includes speech that some might consider misinformation or hate speech — is the best known at 74 percent; freedom of religion is second at 39 percent.

Schools need to get back to teaching civics, argues the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute for American Democracy in a new report.

Beginning in the 1960s, as “the Vietnam War and then the Watergate scandal eroded the public’s faith in government,” schools moved away from civics education as a way to assimilate a “nation of immigrants” to a common culture, the report says. Critics saw civic education “as a form of cultural imperialism” that ignored students’ diversity.

Instead of protecting diversity, schools fostered ignorance and intellectual conformity. Which, if it wasn’t the initial goal, that’s what it quickly became.

INSURRECTION: Tim Walz’s education appointee, Macalester professor backs ‘overthrow’ of United States.

According to the National Review, Brian Lozenski, a professor of urban and multicultural education at Macalester College in the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota has called for the “overthrow” of the United States. Walz had tapped Lozenski to create an “implementation framework” for Minnesota’s ethnic studies standards.

During a 2022 Zoom recording of Lozenski discussing his book, “My Emancipation Don’t Fit Your Equation: Critical Enactments of Black Education in the US,” the professor and appointee of Walz was speaking about how the text tied into education and critical race theory (CRT).

He said that a main tenet of CRT is that the “United States as constructed is irreversibly racist. So, if the nation-state as constructed is irreversibly racist, then it must be done with, it must be overthrown.” Lozenski had said that those in favor of CRT cannot simply say that CRT is “just about telling our stories and divers[ity].”

“It’s not about that. It’s about overthrow. It’s insurgent. And we, we need to be, I think, more honest with that,” Lozenski added, later saying, “The United States needs to be deconstructed, period. Right. Like that’s, you know, and so I think, I think it’s an interesting argument there. And that’s why I’m a critical race theorist.”

As Andy Ngo tweets, “Walz’s DEI, CRT education appointee for Minnesota’s curriculum on ethnic studies advocates for insurrection against the U.S. in the name of overthrowing racism. The same argument was used to burn, loot and kill in 2020 by BLM-Antifa extremists.”

With the blessings of both Walz and Harris: Kamala Harris Lies, Claiming That She Never Promoted the Bail Fund That Bailed Out BLM Rioters As Well As Murderers and R4pists; But the Tweet In Which She Promoted that Bail Fund Is Still Up!

And: Did Tim Walz ‘Let Minneapolis Burn?’

There is one point on which everyone I spoke to seemed to agree: The destruction was orchestrated largely by agitators, not local protesters. Some of them were militant anarchists, and some were far-right groups like the Proud Boys, the Boogaloo Bois, and the “Aryan Cowboys.”

“People there with a First Amendment right to protest were being used as cover, whether wittingly or unwittingly, for the destruction,” said one officer, who asked to remain anonymous.

[Minneapolis police lieutenant Kim Voss], who went undercover decades ago to investigate Antifa, told me that “this is what trained activists do. They found a crowd that was really ripe for it. A lot of the looters were local people—ones that got caught up in it. But they were puppets. The activists were the puppeteers.”

More than anyone, though, Voss blames Walz. She recalled once hearing Walz use the line, “We don’t abandon our folks,” referring to Democrats who were calling for Biden to exit the presidential race.

“I thought, You’re so full of shit,” she said. “You did. You left us all behind.”

Walz’s daughter was also apparently pro-rioters as well back then:

THE NEW SPACE RACE: Radian Aerospace begins tests of spaceplane prototype.

Radian Aerospace, a company with ambitions to develop a reusable orbital spaceplane, has started flight tests of a prototype vehicle.

The Seattle-based company announced Sept. 25 that it performed an initial series of taxi tests of a prototype flight vehicle it calls PFV01 at an unidentified airport in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The tests included what it called “short hops” by the vehicle as it tested its handling characteristics for takeoff and landing.

PFV01 is designed to test the aerodynamics of the company’s proposed Radian One, a spaceplane that would take off horizontally using a rail sled system more than three kilometers long and reach orbit using rocket engines before returning to a runway landing. The vehicle, as currently designed, could carry up to five people and 2,270 kilograms of cargo to low Earth orbit and return with up to 4,540 kilograms of cargo.

Plus: “The company performed the tests in Abu Dhabi with the support of an unnamed partner there. The airfield where the tests took place was a ‘good, permissive environment,’ Holder said, that gave the company access daily.”

Was that a slap at the Biden-Harris FAA?
