OPEN THREAD: Make it special.

NEVER RULE OUT TRUMP: Maybe Trump Can Win the General Election.

My concern is that even if he wins, Trump only has 4 years and that’s not enough to fix things.

TRUMP’S TRIAL IS ABOUT WINNING IN 2024. IT’S ON GOP VOTERS IF THEY FALL FOR THE DEMS’ PLOY:

Ultimately Trump’s fate will not be decided by a Soros-backed prosecutor in New York, or one in Georgia, or by Jack Smith, who is attempting to build and obstruction case against Trump. The point here is not to “serve justice” but to prolong and publicize, and thereby block out any other candidate that may pose a stronger opponent to the current President.

Trump’s fate will be decided by GOP primary voters. They can choose to rally around Trump and ride him into the general election, with the backing of the Democrats and the media, or they can finally decide the drama and the chaos are all too much, and turn the page.

Trump’s fate, and the fate of 2024, is ultimately only up to them. It just depends on how much they love or hate the show the media is putting on for them, once again.

Last month, Ed Morrissey wrote, “As one of my colleagues put it on Twitter, you might personally like Trump and think he got the shaft in 2020. But do you want to spend a general election campaign talking about payoffs to Stormy Daniels and ‘stop the steal’ efforts in Fulton County? Especially if a viable and proven alternative is at hand? That’s why DeSantis is running, and why he always was going to run in this cycle.”

CHRISTIAN TOTO: ‘Air’ – Nothing but Net for Crowd-Pleasing Ode to Capitalism. “Two of Hollywood’s most prominent progressives reteam for a woke-free love letter to the American Dream?”

Sports may be our last remaining meritocracy, much to ESPN’s chagrin.

It’s why we’re still fascinated with professional sports despite the forced social engineering that spoils some, but not all, of the fun.

“Air,” the first Ben Affleck feature since 2016’s disappointing “Live by Night,” never lets us forget that. The film is set in the 1980s, but so is the storytelling. There’s no wokeness to be found, no attempts to guilt characters into addressing racial disparities or apologize for wealth creation.

More like this, please.

SO A FEW MONTHS AGO, I shot the Ruger and FN 5.7 x 28 pistols. The results were mixed, so I tried again yesterday. This time, not mixed at all. The Ruger just plain didn’t shoot. I kept pulling the trigger to no effect. The Range Safety Officer tried and got it to fire once, then nothing. Then I switched to the FN, which jammed (double-feed) after the first shot. I gave up and left. The Range people were nice enough to refund everything, as they tried to figure out what was wrong.

I’m losing enthusiasm for this cartridge. I like to shoot the rental guns before I buy, because they get a lot of hard use and if they hold up well, that’s a good sign. I’ve never had this kind of experience before, though. And while one bad gun can just be a lemon, problems with two different brands suggest to me that it’s something about the cartridge. Or it could just be bad luck both times. Still, I think I’ll look elsewhere for my next gun. Also, the 5.7 x 28 ammo, while adorably small, is quite expensive.

THE FUTURE IS NOT QUITE READY FOR (AMAZON) PRIME TIME: Amazon’s Drone Delivery Dream Is Crashing. “In November 2013, during a 60 Minutes interview, Amazon’s then-CEO Jeff Bezos revealed his dream of delivering packages under 5 pounds—roughly 85 percent of Amazon’s products—to customers by drone within four to five years. Since then, the story has mainly been one of technical and regulatory setbacks, ambitious targets missed, at least one fiery crash, and, recently, layoffs.”

BIG WIN FOR CONSERVATIVE BAPTIST NETWORK: Like every other major American institution, Woke ideologues are infiltrating the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, but the conservatives within the Southern Baptist Convention aren’t just whining and complaining about it, they’re taking concrete action. My latest PJ Media column is up.
