WISCONSIN NEWSPAPER REVISITS ANTI-CONCEALED-CARRY STANCE FROM 25 YEARS AGO: “Still, some things never change, including the rhetoric of the anti-gunners. This passage could have just as easily been written about Florida’s permitless carry law that went into effect on July 1st of this year as the proposed ‘shall issue’ law under consideration in Wisconsin in 2003.”

JUSTICE: Hunter Biden plea: ‘Sweetheart’ deal collapses in court as judge throws ‘curveball.’ “Two IRS criminal investigators bolstered Republicans’ assertions in May when they testified to the House Ways and Means Committee that Weiss was blocked from bringing harsher charges against Hunter Biden in two jurisdictions and was also denied special counsel status. Ways and Means chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) submitted an amicus brief one day ahead of the hearing asking the judge to consider the whistleblower testimony in deciding whether to approve the agreement. His attorney accused a member of Hunter Biden’s legal team of calling the clerk to have the testimony removed from the docket, prompting the judge to seal the docket and threaten attorney sanctions.”

UPDATE (From Ed): Well, that was fast, apparently:

ANOTHER UPDATE (FROM GLENN): This really builds faith in the justice system.

COWERING BEFORE “CARBON.” “So it is that the carbon dioxide pipeline in North Dakota is receiving rapid approvals and aggressive eminent domain clearing overturning the years, even decades it takes to clear a pipeline. The first thing Biden did was cancel the Keystone XL pipeline. It was protested by the activist army that moves into any hot spot, the leaders of which are paid well to lead the chaos.”

If “climate change” is the existential threat we’re told, the only solution is to nuke China. They’re increasing carbon emissions at a rate that ensures that nothing the West does to reduce its own emissions will make a difference. I’m told a nuclear winter would be good for the climate, too.

I know, I know: Don’t give them any ideas. But I’m not worried about a nuclear war, because it doesn’t produce enough graft.

WELL, YES. ON THE RARE OCCASIONS WHEN SHE MAKES A COHERENT STATEMENT, IT’S GENERALLY A LIE. Black professor debunks Harris claim that Florida promotes benefit of slavery.

Related: Dr. William Allen exquisitely ripped Kamala a new one last night.

His name? Dr. William Allen, and, among his myriad other distinguished accomplishments, he was a member of the National Council on the Humanities from 1984 to 1987 and chairman of the United States Commission on Civil Rights from 1988 to 1989. How lucky was Florida to be able to have him work on this immensely important project?

He’s also a black conservative. You can hear the gnashing of race-baiting teeth from your chairs.

A major network news organization finally went in search of Dr. Allen, and interviewed him Saturday night. ABC News was apparently so perturbed by his comments regarding the Vice President’s assertions re: FL curriculum, that they didn’t have the moral courage to air the entire interview. They provided a mere snippet of his rebuttal.

Well, The Narrative must be maintained. It’s not as if the network news is there to tell people the truth about the world.

JAMES LILEKS’ WEDNESDAY REVIEW OF MODERN THOUGHT:

It’s hot. I use the AC in my car when I’m leaving the office. Turn it high, open the windows, blast out all the hot air. Today the temp in the car was quite hot, so I opened the moon roof as well, and hit the Le Mans curve at a speed that was probably a tad over the limit. It’s a great patch of road, with gentle curves, and it’s fun to punch it. I don’t overdo it, because I saw a Highway Patrol car in a secret location six years ago and now expect it every time, but it’s a liberating feeling to rocket out of downtown on the open road, warm wind streaming out, cold air blasting my face, something exhilarating on the music system. The whole thing lasts maybe a minute.

It is, I know, terribly irresponsible, but now and then a man has to channel his inner Captain Pike: hit it.

The use of air conditioning, and a car, makes me a bad person, I know. Which brings me to something related.

THE NEW SPACE RACE: Boeing Keeps Its Starliner Launch On Pause as SpaceX Readies for 7th Crewed Flight.

The NASA and Boeing teams are working through technical issues on the Starliner vehicle before they can gather and contemplate a target launch date, Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, said at a media briefing to discuss SpaceX’s upcoming seventh mission to the International Space Station.

A second issue involves some joints on the parachutes used to slow the Starliner on its re-entry into the atmosphere. As recently as late May, the Starliner’s first test flight with astronauts had been set for mid-July.

“We’re taking a look at all aspects of flight preparations,” Stich said, describing the program as “on pause” after the teams “decided to take a step back” from preparing for the Starliner launch. He said NASA isn’t ready to determine a new launch date for the test flight, which will carry astronaut test pilots Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to the space station.

We could really use more than one reliable manned launch vehicle but it doesn’t look like Starliner will fly a manned mission before 2024 — and I’m having doubts it ever will.
