MICHAEL WALSH: Roll, Tumbrels, Roll.

Shuffling, senile Joe Biden really is the zombified embodiment of Hussein’s third term, staggering, one hopes, toward utter electoral disaster later today as long-suffering Americans finally awake and rise up against the tyranny of les aristocrates who have been torturing us these past two years and more. A la lanterne!

As my regular readers know, I have long described the Democrat Party—not just its lawless and fascistic modern incarnation, but going all the way back to its inception when Aaron Burr, the sitting vice president, a member of the Democratic-Republican Party, notorious traitor, and the founder of Tammany Hall, shot and killed Alexander Hamilton in 1804—as “a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.” Indeed, I even wrote a small monograph concerning its violent, seditious history, still available on Kindle.

Now, after two years of Biden, everyone can see just how awful the Democrats really are. Not simply the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition, but (as they were during the Civil War, which they started) a movement actively hostile to the founding principles of the country that continues to give them shelter and legitimacy. Indeed, they have become the Anti-American Party, advocating unfettered abortion, public criminality, political violence, economic destruction, radical egalitarianism, an obsessive racialism that would make a Nazi blush, open and undefended borders, and the abrogation of the Constitution: a document they’ve long despised and which they are now actively trying to repeal.

Meanwhile, the electoral shenanigans have already begun in places like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maricopa County, Arizona.

The Left isn’t shy about their thieving ways.

MIDTERMS: John Fetterman Drops Bizarre Statement About How Votes Will Be Counted in Pennsylvania.

It appears that Fetterman is saying that we won’t know the results until at least Friday. His mention of a long “week” further clarifies his meaning. But there’s a problem with his statement. Namely, that it’s false, which begs the question of what in the world he’s even talking about.

Pennsylvania has streamlined how they will count ballots this cycle after the cluster that was the 2020 election. Early votes and mail-in ballots will begin to be processed Tuesday at 7:00 AM. Counties are expected to report almost everything on election night. Further, if there are any outstanding ballots, those must be posted by 2:00 AM Wednesday.

The idea that we will still have large chunks of uncounted votes into Thursday and Friday should not be true unless Fetterman knows something we all don’t. If anything, he seems to be sowing distrust in the system, or perhaps he’s setting the stage for legal challenges in the event Oz is crowned a close winner sometime Wednesday.

There’s been a lot of pre-tainting the results from the Left at every level in preparation for a 180 on “election deniers” starting later tonight or Wednesday morning.

PAULA BOLYARD: Shut. It. Down. “On Friday, Joe Biden hit the campaign trail in California and gave a speech at a semiconductor company in Carlsbad. His staffers probably figured he couldn’t do much damage in the uber-blue state — but they were dead wrong. During the speech, Biden said the quiet part out loud about coal-fired electric plants.”

COLORADO: Proposed bill ladles gravy on public pension retirees.

Bill numbers haven’t been assigned yet, so the prospective legislation is known only as Bill A, but the details have been released. At an estimated cost of $220 million per year to Colorado taxpayers, all retired members of state and local public pensions that file Colorado tax return will get a $700 tax credit in both fiscal years 2023 and 2024. The original bill would have increased the tax deduction to create a similar benefit, but the authors ended up opting for a tax credit to get the checks out immediately.

I serve as an appointee on the legislative oversight subcommittee for Colorado’s public pension system, or PERA, which in turn reports to the Pension Review Commission. At a recent subcommittee meeting, some sort of tax break for PERA retirees was mentioned as a possibility, but there was no concrete shape to the plan, and no formal proposal. There was some skepticism of the idea of a special tax break for government retirees even among Democrat committee appointees.

Unfortunately, since the bill was moved directly to the Pension Review Commission, the subcommittee – whose entire purpose is to provide outside expert oversight of PERA and input into the legislative process affecting it – never got to review, or even discuss the question.

An inflationary giveaway to a favored government group, paid for with tax dollars, enacted outside the normal legislative process, done in the name of fighting inflation?

This is what happens when you let your state go Blue.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Election Day Is Always a Cheat Day for Democrats. “I’m one of those crazies who still votes on Election Day, rather than opt for the Democrat cons of mail-in and early voting. Early voting is the devil and should die a hideous death. The only people who should vote by mail are deployed military personnel, people who are expatriated for work, and people who are too physically ill to get to the polls. Participation in either for convenience is just enabling the Democrat fraud machine.”

YOUR TERMS ARE ACCEPTABLE: Chinese Ambassador Warns Swiss: Sanction Us and Ties Will Suffer. “The head of the Swiss agency that implements economic sanctions said in a newspaper interview in July she expects the neutral country to adopt any punitive measures the EU launches against China if it invades Taiwan.”

I wonder how much CCP money is in Swiss vaults.

I HOPE HE’S RIGHT: Kevin Downey Jr.’s Ultra MAGA Whackjob Conspiracy Theory Election Day Predictions. “You can smell the anger and revenge in the air. Conservatives and Republicans are excited. I am flying Trump flags from my car. I am pushing people who listen to my radio program, ‘The Kevin Downey, Jr. Show,’ (every Friday from 6-7 pm at LINEWSRADIO.com) to vote for a straight Republican ticket and punish the sewer-dwelling Democrats once and for all. I’m so eager to send the Democrats packing I want to grow one of those huge, repulsive John Fetterman-like lumps on my neck so that I can wear two MAGA hats.”

HARRY OLSEN: My predictions for the 2022 midterm elections.

American politics has been a stalemate between the two parties for nearly 30 years. Every time it looks as though one party gains a lasting upper hand — Democrats after 2008 and 2020, Republicans after 1994 and 2010 — its legislative overreach sends it back to parity.

Tuesday’s midterm elections could be a continuation of that political trench warfare. Inflation, crime, progressive attempts at overreach and a general sense that President Biden is not up to the job will likely deliver a surprisingly large victory to Republicans. I predict the GOP will win the national popular vote by about 5.5 points, likely gaining between 31 and 40 House seats in the process. I also expect it will retake control of the Senate, gaining two to four seats.

But the GOP’s victory could also represent a chance for the United States to finally end its political quagmire. Republicans will gain support in almost every voter demographic, but they will make especially large inroads among Hispanics and middle-income suburbanites. These voters are not yet Republicans, but they increasingly recognize they are not modern Democrats.
…
My predictions are more optimistic for Republicans than those of most other prognosticators. The Cook Political Report, for example, predicts the GOP will win between 12 and 25 House seats, and FiveThirtyEight’s model forecasts the Senate as a dead heat. Those estimates and others underestimate the effect of a political truism: Midterms are always a referendum on the president.

Two things.

First, don’t get cocky.

Second, Olsen warns the GOP Congress not to indulge in “base-pleasing partisan overreach” or it will lose its majority again.

I’d argue that the GOP keeps losing its majority because it keeps failing to live up to its base-pleasing promises about smaller government.

MEANWHILE, OVER AT VODKAPUNDIT: This Is Our Job.

What do you think will happen on Election Night?

The first thing I’m sure of is that I’ll spend all night drunkblogging the results — just me, a couple of screens, a well-worn keyboard, and as much strong drink as it takes to make sense of a crazy night.

Another thing I’m sure of is that there will be some surprise results, and I’m confident that most of the surprises will trend Red rather than Blue.

The last thing I’m sure of is that it won’t all be over before most sane people — and even some of the crazy ones like me — have finally given up and passed out.

There will be races too close to call, and precincts too dirty to trust. There will be shenanigans.

WELL, GOOD: Turkey Bitchslaps Russia. “Basically Ukraine managed to hit (but not sink) some Russian warships in Sevastopol harbor with some waterborne drones, and Putin threw a hissy fit, declaring the Ukrainian grain export deal was off. Turkey promptly went “No it isn’t” and said exports would continue with Turkish flags on the grain ships in question, causing Russia to back down and rejoin the deal pretty much immediately.”

WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE? TO CRUSH YOUR ENEMIES, SEE THEM DRIVEN BEFORE YOU, AND TO HEAR THE LAMENTATIONS OF THE KARENS: Dem Strategist Admits Her Party ‘Did Not Listen to Voters’ and Will Lose Midterms. “Hilary Rosen, a longtime Democratic strategist, predicted on CNN’s ‘State of the Union’ that her party will have a bad night on Tuesday because they did not listen to voters.”

KATIE PAVLICH: New Data Wipes Out Democrat Narratives on Crime.

After ignoring crime as an issue negatively impacting voters ahead of the midterm elections next week, prominent Democrats have repeatedly made the claim that red states have higher crime rates than blue states.
…
The data in is and it debunks the desperate narrative as Democrats scramble on how to address the issue.

New analysis from the Heritage Foundation shows the vast majority of cities where crime is raging, and driving up rates in red and blue states, are overwhelmingly run by Democrats.

“While a state’s murder rate is perhaps politically interesting, a more accurate reflection of what is actually happening on the ground is gained by reviewing localized murder rates, such as murder rates in a city or county. What does this review show?” the analysis found. “Not surprisingly, of those 30 cities, 27 have Democratic mayors, the exceptions being Lexington and Jacksonville, which have Republican mayors, and Las Vegas, whose mayor is an Independent. And within those 30 cities there are at least 14 Soros-backed or Soros-inspired rogue prosecutors.”

It only takes one Democrat-dominated, badly run (but I repeat myself) urban center to ruin the crime stats for an otherwise low-crime state with a Republican governor.

CHANGE: Facebook planning ‘large scale layoffs’ of thousands of workers following hiring freeze and 70 per cent fall in share price this year.

Facebook parent company Meta Platforms Inc forecast a weak holiday quarter and significantly more costs next year wiping about $67 billion off Meta’s stock market value, adding to the more than half a trillion dollars in value already lost this year.

The disappointing outlook comes as Meta is contending with slowing global economic growth, competition from TikTok, privacy changes from Apple, concerns about massive spending on the metaverse and the ever-present threat of regulation.

Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg has said he expects the metaverse investments to take about a decade to bear fruit.

He’s also said Meta plans to spend $10 billion a year developing their metaverse, which as Glenn noted last week, looks like warmed-over Second Life.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Dems Are So Desperate They Brought Biden Out for Final Push. “I usually avoid the news on the weekend but there is none of that when heading into an election week. I can honestly say that I’ve never seen such a big ‘chicken with their heads cut off’ vibe from the Democrats’ flying monkeys in the mainstream media before an election. For the record, I’ve been through a LOT of elections.”
