MATT MARGOLIS: Democrats May Want to Panic About Hunter Biden Now.

I KNOW I POSTED ON STARLINER EARLIER TODAY BUT THE DETAIL ON BOEING’S LOSSES IS NEW: Boeing has now lost $1.1 billion on Starliner, with no crew flight in sight. “On Wednesday, as a part of its quarterly earnings update, Boeing announced that the Starliner program had taken a loss of $257 million ‘primarily due to the impacts of the previously announced launch delay.’ This brings the company’s total write-down of losses on the Starliner program to more than $1.1 billion. Partly because of this, Boeing’s Defense, Space, & Security division reported a loss of $527 million during the second quarter of this year.”

EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY: US Supermarkets Hit With Buying Panic As India Bans Rice Exports. “India’s export restriction applies to shipments of non-basmati white rice. The move is to contain food inflation by ensuring ample domestic supplies, as the El Niño weather pattern heavily impacts farm production. India is the largest exporter of rice.”

CHASE BROOKS NO DISSENT:
Looks like Chase shut down long-time accounts of Mercola’s company, employees, and their family members. No reason given. I wonder if it has anything to do with their medical dissent? https://t.co/VwqQuzSJg6

We now know that:
– Nigel Farage's bank closed his account for political reasons.
– Then lied about it to the BBC.
– The BBC gleefully published their lies as fact.
– No one has resigned at either the bank or the BBC.And you want to "rebuild trust in the institutions"? 🤔

All our institutions are corrupted — on both sides of the pond.
THE PATRIOTISM. NEXT QUESTION? What Is it About Patriotic American Songs That Drives the Left Crazy?

I think we’ve officially run out of places to find Nazis.
Update: She’s deleted the tweet but, still — Zeppelin Nazis, I hate those guys.

THE NEW SPACE RACE: Boeing Keeps Its Starliner Launch On Pause as SpaceX Readies for 7th Crewed Flight.
The NASA and Boeing teams are working through technical issues on the Starliner vehicle before they can gather and contemplate a target launch date, Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, said at a media briefing to discuss SpaceX’s upcoming seventh mission to the International Space Station.
A second issue involves some joints on the parachutes used to slow the Starliner on its re-entry into the atmosphere. As recently as late May, the Starliner’s first test flight with astronauts had been set for mid-July.
“We’re taking a look at all aspects of flight preparations,” Stich said, describing the program as “on pause” after the teams “decided to take a step back” from preparing for the Starliner launch. He said NASA isn’t ready to determine a new launch date for the test flight, which will carry astronaut test pilots Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to the space station.
We could really use more than one reliable manned launch vehicle but it doesn’t look like Starliner will fly a manned mission before 2024 — and I’m having doubts it ever will.
KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Republicans Need to Catch a Case of Impeachment Fever. “What would make this transcend just being quid pro quo is that — unlike the Democrats’ tantrums against Trump — there are legitimate reasons for impeaching Joe Biden. More of them seem to be popping out of the ether every day. Republicans wouldn’t be engaging in petty revenge; they would be doing their jobs.”
OUCH: Solvency Dies in Darkness: Washington Post On Pace to Lose $100 Million This Year.
The New York Times buried the lede in a story about Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos owning The Washington Post. It isn’t quite profitable, you learn in the eighth paragraph: “The Post is on a pace to lose about $100 million in 2023, according to two people with knowledge of the company’s finances.”
The headline doesn’t include that eye-grabbing detail. It’s just this:
A Decade Ago, Jeff Bezos Bought a Newspaper. Now He’s Paying Attention to It Again.
The Amazon founder, who purchased The Washington Post for $250 million in 2013, has taken a more active role in the paper’s operations this year.
Yes, you can imagine he’d take a “more active role” with this nagging problem. Post employees were delighted a liberal billionaire bought the paper, so they didn’t have to be too worried about profits. “Prestige journalism” for the liberals isn’t working out right now, even as the paper extends its Trump obsession forward.
Maybe it’s time for Bezos to give WaPo the Newsweek solution.

ALEX BERENSON: The scariest poll you’ll see this summer.” In an identically worded poll five years ago, Democrats and Republicans favored free speech online by roughly 3 to 2 margins. Today, Republicans still favor the First Amendment by about that much. But Democrats have turned against it by even more.”
FASTER? PLEASE! Breakthrough rocket engine could accelerate to 99% the speed of light.
Burns’ concept, called the “helical engine,” is not a single closed loop. Instead, it’s a helical structure that resembles a stretched-out spring. Burns described the engine as accelerating ions confined in a loop to moderate relativistic speeds, and then varying their velocity to make slight changes to their mass.
The engine moves ions back and forth along the direction of travel to generate thrust. Notably, the engine has no moving parts, except for ions that travel in a vacuum line and are trapped inside electric and magnetic fields.
This concept sounds impressive in theory, but it has some significant practical challenges to overcome. According to New Scientist, the helical chamber would have to be quite large, precisely around 200 meters (656 feet) long and 12 meters (40 feet) in diameter.
Generating 1 newton of thrust would require producing 165 megawatts of energy, which is equivalent to the power output of a power station required to accelerate a mass of 1 kilogram per second squared. Therefore, despite the enormous input, the output is incredibly small, making it a terribly inefficient process.
But in the vacuum of space? It just might work. “The engine itself would be able to get to 99 per cent the speed of light if you had enough time and power,” Burns told New Scientist.
How much time and how much power aren’t exactly trivial questions.
SKYNET SMILES: Metals Magically Repair Themselves in Breakthrough Discovery That Could Bring About An Engineering Revolution. “Researchers at Sandia National Laboratories studying how microscopic cracks form in metals found that under the right circumstances, metals repair themselves, conjuring imagery similar to the famous villain seen in the film Terminator 2: Judgement Day.”
DECOUPLING: Cathie Wood’s $9 billion flagship Ark fund cut all exposure to China after Beijing started cracking down on Jack Ma. “We saw the trouble that Alibaba, Alipay got into — Jack Ma specifically, and we began to wonder ‘Oh no, is this a broad-based crackdown by the government on any company or person with too much power?’ And that’s exactly what it was, as it turns out, in hindsight.”
CRISIS BY DESIGN: The DOJ Sues Texas Over the Floating Barriers. “Do you know what would be nice? If just for once the people in charge of Biden and all the rest of the Democrat Legion of Destruction would come out and say, ‘We hate you, we hate America, and we want to destroy you, your family, and everything you love. Then we’ll rebuild what’s left using our socialist playset so we can enjoy looking down at you from our after-party in Aspen while your children fetch us another drink.'”
ONLY 10? 10 Media Hack Factories That Pooh-Poohed The Biden-Burisma Scandal As A Conspiracy Theory. “A scandal involving our now-president selling out his country for foreign dollars is nothing less than earth-shattering, but the biggest scandal of all is the coverup being run by everyone from the Justice Department and FBI to the compromised corporate press.”
