FINALLY: Scientists Say They Have Created the First Electromagnetic Vortex Cannon.

Vortices are a fairly common phenomenon of nature. They happen when a jet of something creates frictional forces that cause the sides of the surrounding material—whether a gas or liquid—to slow down and curl inward, forming a ring. The propulsive action of jellyfish and squid, for example, can create these types of vortices (and the popular children’s toy known as the “Airzooka” achieves a similar phenomenon).

For nearly 30 years, scientists have theorized that such a vortex should be possible within the realm of electromagnetism. In 1996, R.W. Hellwarth and P. Nouchi theorized that “focused doughnuts” of electromagnetic radiation could be propagated through free space, but had no idea how to trigger such a phenomenon.

Now, scientists from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and the University of Southampton in the U.K. think they’ve solved the riddle. According to a study published last month in the journal Applied Physics Reviews, the team has designed a radially polarized conical horn antenna, otherwise known as an “electromagnetic cannon.”
…
So, why make an electromagnetic vortex cannon?

To shoot stuff out of it and see how far it will go.

DON’T ALL RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS DO THAT?

Lots of fun in the replies, too.

EVERGREEN: European officials complain about SpaceX some more.

Arianespace CEO Stéphane Israël recently gave an interview to the French publication Les Echos that has been shared by European Spaceflight. It sounds like the once-dominant commercial satellite launch firm, which has been run over by the SpaceX steamroller, is tired of being asked about the SpaceX steamroller. Israël said Europeans should “stop just comparing SpaceX and Elon Musk with Arianespace.”

Why? … His reasoning for this was that SpaceX is not just a launch company but one that controls a broader value chain that includes satellite manufacturing and operation through Starlink. “He competes against the entire space industry on his own,” said Israël. In order to compete with SpaceX, he explained, “the entire European space sector must be united and ambitious.” Israël identified Europe’s planned Iris² satellite constellation as a key project to ensure future competitiveness. “Our hopes rest on the Iris² constellation promoted by the European Commission,” he said. The future of this project, however, appears to be uncertain, especially after the sudden departure of Thierry Breton from the European Commission this week.

The only thing stopping Ariane — or ULA, for that matter — from doing what SpaceX does is a lack of ambition and imagination.

There seems to be plenty of both in China’s rocket industry, however.

WELL, DAMN: Elon Musk’s X gives up fight in Brazil, starts complying with judge’s demands.

X previously refused to suspend dozens of accounts accused of spreading disinformation. Internet service providers have been blocking X under orders from the government since early September, and De Moraes seized $2 million from a Starlink bank account and $1.3 million from an X account to collect on fines issued to X.

X has claimed the orders violate Brazil’s own laws. “Unlike other social media and technology platforms, we will not comply in secret with illegal orders. To our users in Brazil and around the world, X remains committed to protecting your freedom of speech,” the company said in late August.

But in a reversal detailed in a court filing on Friday night, “X’s lawyers said the company had done exactly what Mr. Musk vowed not to: take down accounts that a Brazilian justice ordered removed because the judge said they threatened Brazil’s democracy,” The New York Times reported. “X also complied with the justice’s other demands, including paying fines and naming a new formal representative in the country, the lawyers said.” (X said last month that its previous legal representative in Brazil resigned after de Moraes threatened her with imprisonment.)

According to Reuters, “It was not immediately clear which were the accounts X has been ordered to block, as the probe is confidential.”

Of course it is.

Since the administration chose silence over backing X and free speech, I don’t suppose Musk had much of a choice.

ROGER L SIMON: Trump Finally Correct about Jewish Vote.

It all began during the administration of Barack H. Obama, the man who ignored the brave freedom demonstrators in the streets of Tehran and other Iranian cities in favor of negotiating a useless nuclear deal with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Obama, as an inducement, lifted sanctions on Iran, even added a small fortune—$400 million— under the radar in cash. Two days later he sweetened the deal with another $1.3 billion.

The mullahs were supposed to use this money to help their impoverished people. Obama, who is not an idiot, could not have possibly believed that, but for reasons too depressing to write about went ahead.

Fortunately, Trump was elected in 2016 and reimposed sanctions on Iran and pulled out of the nuclear deal. We all know what happened. No war in the Middle East. Four years of peace. (No Ukraine War either.).

Then, Joe Biden comes in, lifts the sanctions, the mullahs make untold billions on oil and ship the spoils to Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and all those ever-changing terror outfits scattered across Iraq and Syria and we have years of carnage with rapes, kidnappings, endless deaths with no end in sight.

Does that sound too simple, even stupid?

That’s because it is.

What’s not simple is why our administration actually gave the Iranians the money to do this.

Read the whole thing.

WHAT’S WRONG WITH LEON PANETTA?

Terrorism is targeting civilians. Operation Grim Beeper could not have been more directly targeted at Hezbollah.

This entire administration is naifs, weaklings, idiots, and Marxists.

NICE SHOOTING: Ukrainian Drones Just Blew Up 2,000 Tons Of Ammo in Southern Russia.

The ammo dump in Toropets reportedly held large stocks of small arms rounds, mortar shells, artillery rockets and long-range ballistic missiles potentially including Russian-made Iskanders and North Korean KN-23s.

According to the Ukrainian general staff, the dump in Tikhoretsk “is one of the three largest occupying ammunition storage bases and is one of the keys in the logistical system of Russian troops.”

The general staff estimated 2,000 tons of ammo, including North Korean-made rounds, were in the Tikhoretsk dump when the drones struck. The towering fireball resulting from the impact seems to confirm that estimate. The initial Toropets raid and the later Tikhoretsk raid were both big enough to register as small earthquakes and also draw the attention of NASA’s fire-spotting satellites.

The back-to-back ammo dump raids signal a shift in Ukraine’s campaign of deep strikes targeting strategic targets inside Russia.

For many months, officials in Kyiv have pleaded with their European and American counterparts for permission to use donated long-range munitions—British Storm Shadow and French SCALP-EG cruise missiles and American Army Tactical Missile System rockets—against targets deep inside Russia, including munitions stockpiles.

But the Europeans and Americans have consistently withheld that permission.

In other words, Ukraine could have blown up those dumps long before last week if they hadn’t been forced by their friends in the West to waste time and lives jury-rigging a drone solution.

Whatever happened to that Epstein client list, anyway?

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Daring to Dream About a Trump Win in Pennsylvania. “Of course, it’s not just Pennsylvanians who work in the energy sector who may be wistful for a return to the Trump years. Harris still leads in most of the polling there, but it is very tight and — all together now — polls are often garbage. Trump certainly has a case to make to the state’s undecided voters, if there are still any left.”

CAM EDWARDS: The ‘Common Sense’ Gun Law Democrats Don’t Want to Talk About.

Kamala Harris loves to trot out her talking points about her gun control proposals in campaign appearances, which inevitably include her description of them as “common sense”. According to Harris, it’s just common sense to ban the most popular rifles in the country (though she’s now silent on whether its also common sense to include a compensated confiscation component to her gun ban scheme). It’s also common sense, at least to Harris, to mandate background checks on every private transfer of a firearm, even temporarily or if the seller is well aware that the buyer isn’t prohibited from possessing or purchasing a gun.

Waiting periods? Common sense. Gun rationing laws? Common sense. Magazine bans? Common sense. Whatever a gun control activist is proposing, they’re sure to tell us that it’s only common sense.

There is, however, one policy that seems perfectly reasonable to me (and I would argue, most Americans) that Democrats are largely unwilling to get behind: increasing the penalty for stealing a gun or possessing a stolen firearm.

Going after actual criminals would cut into one of the Democrats’ core constituencies.

DANGER JUNKET:

Sanctions have only drawn Russia closer to Iran (flush with cash, also thanks to Biden-Harris), and weapons restrictions that give the other guy effectively unlimited sanctuary cost treasure, lives, and time.

So if you were looking for a set of policies that would strengthen the anti-Western axis while bleeding out a potential friend, look no further than this administration.

DON’T BE EVIL: Here’s How Sinister the Deep State ‘Blob’ Censorship Operation Really Is. “The censorship mechanisms we now see on a daily basis in our Google searches, wildly one-sided ‘news’ coverage, and the consolidation of speech codes into full-fledged and sometimes violent censorship on campuses across the nation are the outgrowth of U.S. State Department censorship programs enacted in 2016 after a new bubble of worldwide populism erupted. It marked the point when all of the mechanisms the U.S. employed against our enemies were turned on the American people.”

THANKS TO HARRIS AND HER TIE-BREAKING VOTE, THERE ARE PLENTY MORE IRS AGENTS TO ENDORSE HER (AMONG OTHER THINGS):
