WHO’S IN CHARGE HERE, ANYWAY? Nearly Half of Federal Employees in the Swamp Plan to Resist Trump, Poll Finds.

The poll found that many Americans are willing to support the new administration, even among the elites and even among those who voted for Harris.

The survey asked, “Looking ahead to the next four years, will your political efforts be primarily to support the Trump administration or resist the Trump administration?”

Most Main Street Americans (59%) said they would support the new administration, while only 28% said they would resist it. Even the Elite 1% proved more likely to say they would support (48%) than resist (39%) the administration.

Even some of those who said they voted for Harris in November said they would support the new administration. Twelve percent of Harris voters said they will work to at least somewhat support the new administration.

On Election Day, 64% of the Elite 1% voted for Harris while only 34% voted for Trump. Yet among the Elite 1% who voted for Harris, a quarter (26%) said they are working to support the new administration.

Federal Government Managers, however, proved evenly split, with only 44% saying they would support the administration and 42% saying they would resist it.

Let them resist from the unemployment line.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: The Great American Political Divide Is Just Going to Get Bigger Now. “Democrats who believe that their politics make them permanent residents of the moral high ground are particularly galling. While I truly would like to get along better, I can’t muster any patience to indulge delusions like that. Political beliefs don’t make one a good person, being a good person makes one a good person.”

FAIL, BRITANNIA:

“Wow,” as Elon Musk said in his repost, and not in a good way, of course.

More here from Amuse:

The Tories’ silence when they were in charge speaks volumes, too.

THE NEW SPACE RACE: Although it’s “insane” to try to land New Glenn, Bezos says it’s important to try.

I asked what his expectations were for the launch of New Glenn, which has a three-hour window that opens at 1 am ET (06:00 UTC) on Monday, January 13. The launch pad at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base lay several miles away from the factory where we conducted the interview.

“We would certainly like to achieve orbit, and get the Blue Ring Pathfinder into orbit,” Bezos said. “Landing the booster would be gravy on top of that. It’s kind of insane to try and land the booster. A more sane approach would probably be to try to land it in the ocean. But we’re gonna go for it.”

Blue Origin has built a considerable amount of infrastructure on a drone ship, Jacklyn, that will be waiting offshore for the rocket to land upon. Was Bezos not concerned about putting that hardware at risk?

“I’m worried about everything,” he admitted. However, the rocket has been programmed to divert from the ship if the avionics on board the vehicle sense that anything is off-nominal.

And there is, of course, a pretty good chance of that happening.

“We’ve done a lot of work, we’ve done a lot of testing, but there are some things that can only be tested in flight,” Bezos said. “And you can’t be overconfident in these things. You have to be realistic. The reality is, there are a lot of things that go wrong, and you have to accept that, if something goes wrong, we’ll pick ourselves up and get busy for the second flight.”

You get the feeling that Blue Origin might be a lot further along by now if Bezos had embraced “insane” earlier on. But that’s water under the bridge and here’s to hoping for a successful launch and recovery when New Glenn does fly.

THE NEW SPACE RACE: Space lettuce: NASA’s plans to grow nutritious plants on Mars.

NASA is examining ways to ensure explorers have nourishing produce, including fresh plants, on future space missions to the Moon and Mars. While sealed food packets get the job done, they can lose flavor and vitamins over time.

Cultivating leafy greens and vegetables on the space station could address this problem and give crews a happier mental state.

Efforts to grow plants such as lettuce, peppers, radishes, and tomatoes in microgravity have been underway, revealing new insights into how spaceflight influences plant genetics, water use, and flavor.

By the time NASA gets to Mars, astronauts will probably be able to pick up whatever they want at the Elon City farmers market.

NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG: Russian Mercenary Captured At Border. “The problem with open borders is that they’re open borders, and you have no way to vet who is coming across. We already covered the strangely high number of Chinese nationals crossing the border, and now a Russian mercenary has been captured there…with a drone.”

SHE MIGHT BE INCOMPETENT AND (SO FAR) UNACCOUNTABLE BUT AT LEAST SHE ISN’T AROUND MUCH: Karen Bass: Part-Time Mayor.

PRIORITIES:

Competence isn’t high on the list of California Democrat voters’ concerns so California Democrat politicians aren’t concerned with it, either. They aren’t even capable of it.

STRATEGERY!

Even at a net worth of $400 billion or whatever it is today, Elon Musk might be undervalued.

FALLOUT: NYC congestion pricing turns upper Manhattan nabes into parking ‘war zone’ — as drivers take up spots to avoid toll.

Upper Manhattan nabes are already devolving into glorified parking lots only days after the MTA and Gov. Hochul flipped the switch on congestion pricing — with bridge-and-tunnel commuters increasingly ditching their vehicles uptown to skirt the $9 toll, outraged residents told The Post

Across Washington Heights, locals bemoaned that their already-scarce curbside parking spaces have further vanished in recent days, with many now burning hours trying to track down a precious spot.

“’Good luck to everyone,’ that’s what I say,” nurse Thomas Hurt, 36, told The Post. “Now [these commuters] are right here along with us, trying to fight it out.”

After coming home from his shift at a Montefiore hospital in the Bronx Wednesday, Hurt circled for two hours searching for a spot — and saw at least 20 New Jersey-plated cars hogging spaces between West 174th and West 181st streets.

Over the past year, residents in the neighborhoods outside the 60th Street congestion zone have repeatedly warned that their communities would be plagued with hellish gridlock and increased pollution from meandering motorists.

“It’s gotten worse in the past week. A lot of people from Jersey, they take the bridge, park here, and take the subways down,” said Cristian Romarion, 48, a project manager, who double-parked his Jeep Wrangler while waiting for a spot to open up.

“People fight for parking here . . . like, physically fight for parking. It’s crazy,” he continued, adding that he’s witnessed scraps “almost every day” since congestion pricing took effect.

Just remember that the plan wasn’t to raise revenue or reduce congestion in Manhattan but to get people to give up their cars, and it all makes sense.

SAY NO MORE:

One of the reasons California is likely stuck with Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass — or replacements just like them or worse — is that the sensible people have already fled or soon will.

GOOD LORD:

Real heroism is on display here — most of it unnecessary, if California would maintain its forests and scrub properly.

“SOCIALISM SEEKS EQUALITY IN MISERY; COMMUNISM SEEKS EQUALITY IN THE GRAVE.”

Progressivism seeks equality in absurdity.

UPDATE: Even that’s too kind. Socialism spares the ruling class the misery; communism spares them the premature grave. There’s less actual equality in societies run on leftist lines than anywhere else.

YOU GET MORE OF WHAT YOU INCENTIVIZE:

California voters have not yet gotten it good and hard enough yet. But they sure are working on it.
