ADAM MOSSOFF: The Film of Hamas Selfie Videos on October 7.

I will not describe or detail any of the film’s horrors, and so you can read this post knowing that you will not be ambushed with a nightmare that will haunt you for the rest of your days. I will say the film is horrific. In fact, it’s beyond horrific. But if one is to bear witness to evil so that one can better defend the good (Israel) and speak out against evil (genocidal antisemitism and supporters of this nihilism in the West), one must know the evil of which one speaks. Thus, I considered it important for me to see the film, but given the shocking and sickening content of this film, I don’t begrudge anyone not watching it.

Here’s some background context and general information about the film: The IDF created this film in November 2023 given worldwide denials of the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7. Similar to the Holocaust denials that began in 1945 and continue to this day, the denial of the vile atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7 began on October 8 and continue to this day. It’s not just denial of murders of children and babies and other war crimes as “Israeli propaganda.” There’s also the denial of the rape and sexual violence committed by Hamas soldiers on October 7, which has prompted Sheryl Sandberg to create her first documentary as her own act of bearing witness to October 7. It’s called, “Screams Before Silence,” and if you have not yet seen it, I recommend doing so (https://www.screamsbeforesilence.com/).

Given its content, the film is closely controlled by the IDF. I already knew this from an opportunity I had last November to see it, which I declined at the time. One can only see the film through an application, a special invitation, or to be invited to a showing for specific audiences, such as political leaders or media industry representatives who have been invited to watch it.

I’ve seen enough of the publicly available video to have a good idea why the IDF keeps their stuff tightly held, although I still question the wisdom of doing so.

That said, Adam just started a Substack so he could get this essay seen outside of Facebook — and it’s powerful stuff.

PEACHY KEENAN: L.A. 2025: Welcome to the Future, America.

“California” the way it was when I was growing up is gone forever. Illegal immigration, followed by mass amnesty and permanent one-party rule (Communism) took care of that.

Many of the law-abiding Latino citizens of California may want law and order and may even be in favor of stopping new illegal immigration, but they also remember the stories of their abuela who had to dodge alligators and La Migra to cross the Rio Grande and then got called a “wet back” at work. They don’t really want to see mass deportations of their cousins.

What this means is that actual, lasting, meaningful deportation efforts in southern California will be done against a hostile regime and their murderous shock troops, who will do everything to stymie it and to (their real goal) Make Trump Look Bad.

If he succeeds in deporting all illegals down to the last day-old newborn with pierced ears, he is Satan. If he doesn’t, he is a failure.

But despite the risks, he should still do it.

Read the whole thing.

SLOUCHING TOWARD WWIII: China struggling with military reforms needed in time for Taiwan action.

The People’s Liberation Army failed to implement key military reforms needed to meet the goal of having enough firepower to take Taiwan by force in 2027, according to an Air Force think tank report.

The report quotes People’s Liberation Army Gen. Zhang Youxia, the most powerful military officer in China, as voicing concerns that the military has not moved fast enough to be ready for an invasion or blockade of Taiwan, as Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered.

Details of the shortcomings were disclosed by Gen. Zhang in a state-media essay last year. The article revealed weaknesses in military leadership, problems with wartime military-civilian coordination, and an inability to conduct both joint operations and information warfare operations needed for a major joint military campaign.

“After nine years of corruption purges, modernization initiatives, and substantial reforms, Xi and China’s military leaders remain concerned,” the report by the China Aerospace Studies Institute states.

“Significant portions of the People’s Liberation Army and cross-military and local (civilian) efforts are not moving fast enough, or in the right direction.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in a speech on May 31 that a conflict with China over Taiwan is a real danger that is “imminent” and would result in devastating consequences.

One thing to remember is that Xi’s anti-corruption purges were more about giving cover to removing threats to Xi than they were about reducing corruption.

Another thing to remember is that dictators tend to believe the lies told by their underlings about how well things are going, particularly in the military.

MY STATE’S CALIFORNICATION CONTINUES APACE: Gov. Polis signs expanded protections for illegal immigrants in Colorado.

Despite repeated claims that Colorado is not a “sanctuary state” for illegal immigration, Gov. Jared Polis on May 23 signed a bill into law that both reinforces and expands Colorado’s existing protections for immigrants living in the country illegally.

Senate Bill 25-276, Protect Civil Rights Immigration Status was a top priority for majority Democrats in the state Legislature as they continue their attempt at isolating Colorado from the Trump administrations deportation policies, with the bill picking up a remarkable 46 prime and co-sponsors on its way to passage.

Colorado state law already limits interaction and information sharing between local and federal officers. However, SB 276 extends this measure to prohibit the state judicial and legislative branches, along with local governments, from sharing personal immigration-related data with federal officials. The bill also denies federal immigration officials access to certain areas of places such as childcare facilities, hospitals, and schools, unless a warrant is provided.

Local governments cannot work with ICE to detain an individual facing civil immigration proceedings, and any information on an enrolled child or a patient cannot be shared with federal officers, among other restrictions.

Despite the bills extensive restrictions for local and state officials, Gov. Polis reiterates the importance of cooperation with federal agents on criminal matters in his signing statement for the bill.

Well, Polis lied.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: None of This Is Playing Out the Way Gavin Newsom Thinks It Is. “The reason that Newsom wasn’t going to be the nominee last year is the same one that is making him fight so hard to be the Dems’ whacko Great White Hope during the riots now: he doesn’t check off any diversity boxes for the party that’s all in on it. Unless he’s ready to switch teams and shack up with Mayor Pete, Newsom needs some way to distinguish himself.”

HMM: Former White House Physician Ronny Jackson Points To White House Staffer In Biden Cover-Up Probe.

Former White House physician and current Republican Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson told the Daily Caller in a Monday interview that ongoing congressional investigations are overlooking a key White House staffer.

“I think they’ve got a pretty good list to start with, but I think one of the people, you know, having been in the White House for a while that I think would be absolutely key in what what was going on, they need to look [at] the staff secretary,” Jackson responded when asked who else he would like to see testify before Congress regarding the probes into the Biden mental decline cover-up and the use of the autopen. “The staff secretary handles every piece of paper that goes in and out of the Oval Office and everything that has the president’s signature on it.”

Jackson added that he was “kind of shocked” when he saw “the initial list from Chairman Comer that the staff secretary was not on there.”

Comer is hardly squishy, so hopefully he’ll correct this oversight.

XI’S GOTTA HAVE IT: Japan sights two Chinese aircraft carriers in Pacific for first time.

Two Chinese aircraft carriers were spotted conducting simultaneous operations in the Pacific for the first time, in a move that Japan’s defence minister said signified Beijing’s intention to further widen its capabilities beyond its borders.

The operations were a “routine training” exercise that did not target specific countries or regions, Wang Xuemeng, a spokesperson for the Chinese Navy, said in a statement, however.

Since May, China has been flexing its muscles by sending an unusually large number of naval and coast guard vessels through a swathe of East Asian waters, according to security documents and officials, in moves that have unnerved regional capitals.

Japan’s defence ministry has confirmed the two carriers, Liaoning and Shandong, were operating in separate areas in the Pacific on Saturday, both near remote southern islands belonging to Japan.

As CDR Sal noted a week or two ago, China already closed the numbers gap, and they’re quickly closing the capabilities gap.

BILL WHITTLE: How L.A. Dies. “One man, 36 hours, and seven hundred dollars: a cautionary tale about the future of my home for 37 years.”

WHAT WAS I JUST SAYING?

Really, I was just saying this.

WHY IS THIS GUY STILL STANDING?

Put some oomf into it.

NIFTY: U.S. Army integrates SMASH smart fire control system on M4A1 rifle to target aerial drones. “The SMASH 2000L is developed and produced by Smart Shooter Ltd., a defense technology company based in Yagur, Israel. The firm specializes in fire control systems designed to improve small arms accuracy and lethality in complex battlefield environments. The SMASH 2000L represents a lightweight, compact iteration of the company’s proven SMASH technology, specifically engineered for integration with standard assault rifles such as the M4A1. It allows operators to effectively engage not only ground targets but also small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS), which pose growing threats in modern combat zones.”

Cool, but wouldn’t a shotgun be cheaper?
