FROM LAURA MONTGOMERY:  Sleeping Duty: Waking Late. #CommissionEarned

A lost starship. A lost colony. A cryo-frozen space marine.

Gilead Tan and Andrea Fielding survived their stint in the military, got married, signed up to emigrate to a terraformed colony world, and went into cold sleep for the journey from Earth. While they slept, the starship went through the wrong fold in space and settled for a different world, a wild world.

Three centuries after the founding of a colony on the uncharted planet, Gilead awakens to find humanity slipped back to medieval tech and a feudal structure.

Worse, the king who wants Gilead awake won’t let Gilead awaken his wife.

When Gilead learns the awful truth of what happened in the colony’s early days, he despairs. But he must learn to go on because only he can save the other sleeping colonists whose lives the king insists belong to “the greater good.”

Sleeping Duty is the first book in the immersive Waking Late science fiction series. If you like gripping action, insurmountable odds, and alien worlds, you’ll love this rugged adventure.

TBF SHE CAN HARDLY DISCUSS WHAT SHE HAD FOR BREAKFAST:  Kamala Harris Dodges Student Debt Questions.

I suspect the reason Willy Brown liked her so much is that her head is completely hollow.  There’s a brain the size of a walnut* to maintain autonomic functions, and that’s about it.

*I apologize to dinosaurs who might have been more articulate.

OKAY, YES, SO… NONE OF US APPROVES OF GOFUND ME, BUT THIS ISN’T REMOTELY POLITICAL: One of my fans who became a friend and then sort of adopted family, (he could be my kid) had just gotten married to a nice young lady in the navy and was in the process of moving and rebuilding his business, when he caught Covid (last year) and it was one of those freakish cases where a young person ends up extremely ill. He was unconscious and near-death for a month or so, leaving his new bride to deal with his house sale and other issues.  As a result of recovering from that near disaster, he lost all the money he would have used to start his business (he makes great blades, btw.) He’s asking for help. I’m not going to say “give” but if you have extra… you know what the times are. We do what we can when we can. And we’ll get through this.  Help me start my business!

WELL, THEIR TREATMENT IS OBVIOUSLY IN VIOLATION OF THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS:  Lawyer: January 6 Clients Are Being Tortured.

As I tell people who now want to publicly join the fray: yes, the risk is real. You reveal your opposition and you’re leaving yourself hanging way out. Before I came out politically I consulted all those likely to get hurt by association and got their consent. You should do the same. Of course all of us on this blog know very well the risk we’re taking. We know. And we do it consciously.

I don’t know if the others have done it, but I’ve pledged my life, my fortune and my sacred honor to defending/reviving the constitutional republic. And I know the price others who did so paid. And I deem it worth it.

You? Cut your cloth to fit your coat.
