DISPATCHES FROM TRUDEAUPIA: Trudeau announces national handgun ban.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a national ban on handguns, among other measures targetting law-abiding firearm owners.

Bill C-21 includes various gun control measures including reducing the size of magazines to only hold five rounds and banning the sale of large capacity clips.

“(The) national freeze on handguns (would) prevent individuals from bringing newly acquired handguns into Canada and from buying, selling, and transferring handguns within the country,” a press release stated on Monday.

“In addition to this new legislation, the Government of Canada will require long-gun magazines to be permanently altered so they can never hold more than five rounds and will ban the sale and transfer of large capacity magazines under the Criminal Code.

As Mark Hemingway tweets, “Finally, a chance to invade and annex Canada.”

As for other restrictions, Prime Minister Zoolander can’t get enough: Liberals vote against motion to end Covid restrictions for travellers.

WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR?

As Emily Zanotti tweets, “The USS Intrepid was not at Pearl Harbor. No American carriers were, but definitely not the Intrepid which was commissioned two years after the bombing.”

Forget it though, he’s rolling: On Memorial Day, Mayor Adams says NYC faces ‘Pearl Harbor moment’ in COVID.

Adams drew the parallel to the 1941 attack while delivering remarks onboard the USS Intrepid, which was active as a fighter vessel in World War II.

The Intrepid, which is now a museum docked at Pier 86 on Manhattan’s West Side, was a symbol of American “resiliency” after the Pearl Harbor tragedy left a cloud of “uncertainty” over the country, Adams said.

“We too are that. This is a Pearl Harbor moment,” he said.

Referencing COVID, Adams continued: “We lost loved ones and family members to the uncertainty if they were ever returned from a hospital. Our economy took a devastating dive. Many people lost their homes and businesses. The uncertainty hovered our entire nation, but just as then we are here now: We will survive.”

Joining Adams onboard the Intrepid was Gov. Hochul, who cracked a joke about her and the mayor “making history” by both attending the Memorial Day ceremony — a jab at their predecessors, Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio, who very rarely were seen together in public.

Hochul also lauded the sense of “collaboration” that she said motivates those who go into military service.

“Because when you join the military, you put your ego aside, you put your political persuasions aside, you put your geographic influences aside, and you become one powerful unit where the number one objective is to protect your beloved homeland,” she said. “I believe that all of us as Americans and certainly those in public office have the same capacity in our hearts to learn from the examples of our military.”

Ahh, the century-old “moral equivalent of war” argument that unites the left, coupled with “never letting a crisis go to waste,” to hang onto the pandemic as a way to control and manipulate citizens. But curiously, at the height of the COVID lockdowns, I recall a lot of would-be front-line soldiers going AWOL:

DISPATCHES FROM THE PARTY OF TOLERANCE: Watch: Rand Paul Rages At “Democrat Plan To Brand Police, Soldiers As White Supremacists And Neo-Nazis.”

Paul was addressing The Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2022, blocked by Republicans in the Senate, that demands the FBI and Department of Homeland Security change the way they investigate and monitor domestic terrorism suspects.

The official summary of the bill notes that an “interagency task force” would be established in order to probe into “white supremacist and neo-Nazi infiltration of the uniformed services and federal law enforcement agencies.”

“This bill should be called by a more accurate name: the Democrat plan to brand our police and soldiers as white supremacists and neo-Nazis,” Paul proclaimed.

He continued, “How insulting,” adding “We knew that Democrats despise and want to defund the police, but now, they believe that the police, federal law enforcement, and the U.S. military are full of white supremacists and neo-Nazis?”

Referring to the now mothballed ‘Disinformation Governance Board’, Paul also noted “Those of us who still care about the Bill of Rights just got done taking down the DHS ‘Ministry of Truth,’ and a day later, Democrats want to create the DHS Thought Police. You couldn’t make it up if you tried. But they don’t stop there.”

“The bill creates two other Thought Police offices at the Department of Justice and at the FBI, which seems like a self-defeating choice, since elsewhere in the bill, we are told that federal law enforcement is shot through with white supremacists and neo-Nazis,” Paul urged.

And the tolerance and good vibes just keep flowing! Progressives Have a New Term to Smear Everyone They Don’t Like.

Aren’t you excited? The far-left has been hard at work trying to come up with a new way to demonize conservatives and anyone else who disagrees with their politics. Perhaps terms like “racist,” “homophobic,” and “sexist” have become too hackneyed even for progressives. Now, they just might be ready to introduce a new favorite smear, the way Steve Jobs used to present Apple’s latest iPhone.

So what’s the new word, you ask?

Here’s your answer: Christofascist.

That’s right, folks. If you’re reading this, you’re likely a conservative/libertarian type, so this article is to let you know that to progressives, you are a Christofascist seeking to assert your religious morals on the rest of the nation — whether they like it or not.

That’s a bold strategy for the left in an election year. What could go wrong?

DEMOCRACY DIES IN SELF-AGGRANDIZEMENT: How ‘alone’ was WaPo in reporting emergent Watergate scandal? Not very.

It’s long been a misleading element of media lore that the Washington Post was mostly alone in reporting the unfolding scandal of Watergate, which broke nearly 50 years ago and eventually brought down the corrupt presidency of Richard Nixon.

The claim reemerged yesterday in a commentary by the newspaper’s media columnist, Margaret Sullivan. She referred to the Post‘s lead Watergate reporters, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, declaring that they “were almost alone on the story for months.”

Not exactly.

Read the whole thing.

Earlier: “There are two reasons the Clinton story isn’t a bigger one in the public consciousness. One is admitting the enormity of what took place would require system-wide admissions by the FBI, the CIA, and, as Matt Orfalea’s damning video above shows, virtually every major news media organization in America. More importantly, there’s no term for the offense Democrats committed in 2016, though it was similar to Watergate.”

WHEN YOU’RE A LEFTIST WHO’S LOST “POLITIFACT:”

● Shot: Biden Insists 2nd Amendment Isn’t Absolute: When it Was Passed ‘You Couldn’t Buy a Cannon.’

Mediaite, today.

● Chaser:

Biden said, “You weren’t allowed to own a cannon during the Revolutionary War as an individual.”

The campaign was unable to come up with an example of a law banning private ownership of cannons, and historians of the period doubt that any existed. To the contrary, there are documented instances of privateers, or privately owned vessels, setting sail with cannons during the period.

We rate the statement False.

KURT SCHLICHTER: The New Normal Is Failure.

The clusterfark in Uvalde is just a symptom of a much bigger pathology. It is a symbol of the failure of every institution in our society. And the solution is never to revamp the institutions and eject the parasites heading them. It’s always – always – to take power from us and give it to the people who screwed up in the first place.

Show of hands – who was shocked to hear that this creep was on law enforcement’s radar before his killing spree?

I see a distinct lack of hands.

But the failure is not limited to being unable to stop murderers. It’s not even the only failure involving schools. The schools are churning out a generation of quasi-literates and have been turned into a Grindr for perverted weirdos to use for grooming their prey. We got a good view of the failure during another epic failure, the COVID response.

This is systemic.

Everything is failing.

Go try to get baby formula.

See if you can afford gas. Hell, roll up to a Mickey D’s drive-thru and try to roll away with lunch for four under $30.

The courts don’t work, the Congress doesn’t work, and our alleged president is a borderline clinical moron who is lying when he’s not merely stupid. This human sex toy got up at Annapolis and told the Naval Academy grads that he had been accepted there. It was a lie – of course, he’s senile so maybe he believed it – and the regime media skipped over it like they skip over everything else that offends the official narrative.

Failure, failure, failure.

What is one institution that works? Just one.

Or to put it another way, “does the Biden administration actually want to see middle-class Americans reduced to poverty and privation? Or is it just too stupid to foresee the obvious consequences of its own actions? At this point, I’m not even sure which is worse.”

SNOWFALLS ARE NOW JUST A THING OF THE PAST: Mona Lisa is attacked with custard pie by man disguised as elderly woman in a wheelchair screaming ‘think of the planet!’… before he’s dragged away by security. “The man, who wore a dark black wig and lipstick, turned out to be an artist and climate change activist who said he pied the prized painting in protest. ‘Think about the Earth. People are in the process of destroying the Earth!’ he declared as he was led away by security guards. ‘Artists think about the Earth, that’s why I did this. Think of the planet!’”

As Karol Markowicz tweets, “An environmental activist trying to destroy the Mona Lisa is in line with what leftism is right now. They think their righteous cause means all of their behavior is OK and this is reinforced by a friendly media who covers riots as if they are peaceful protests. It’s wrong.

(Classical reference in headline.)

HOW’S THAT WELCOME WAGON PROGRAM COMING ALONG? The Real ‘Great Replacement’ Theory: “More than half of American cities registered a loss of population over the last year. People flocked to suburbs and exurbs and headed west to the Sun Belt, according to the U.S. Census. The increase in population in those places comes at the expense of big cities, who lost population during the same period of time. This is the real ‘Great Replacement’ theory. Big cities are not ‘replacing’ their lost populations because the people are moving to smaller cities and towns with less crime, less taxes, and less left-wing folderol. Perhaps more interestingly, fewer immigrants are moving in to pick up the slack”
