HAS IT REALLY BEEN TEN YEARS? CONGRATS!

HEY, LET’S WATCH ABC NEWS WHIP ITS AUDIENCE INTO A FRENZY: Voters view one another across partisan divide with increasing animosity.

—Headline, ABC News, November 1st.

And ABC News is really working hard at bridging the divide!

As former ABC Newsman Mark Halperin predicted in October:

[I]f Trump wins, it could lead to a profound shift within the Democratic Party, calling it “the greatest mental health crisis in the history of the country.”

“I think tens of millions of people will question their connection to the nation, their connection to other human beings, and their vision of the future for themselves and their children,” Halperin stated.

After Carlson asked, “Are you being serious?” Halperin replied, “One hundred percent serious.” He emphasized that the ramifications of such a crisis would require increased access to mental health professionals, citing potential workplace trauma and rising rates of alcoholism and broken marriages.

Halperin, who has covered every U.S. presidential election since 1988 and co-authored the book Game Change, chronicling the 2008 presidential campaign, elaborated on the depth of the crisis, saying, “For many Democrats, Trump’s presidency represents the worst possible outcome. The psychological toll will be sustained and unprecedented. I don’t think the country is ready for it.”

Orson Welles’ ability to convince a few radio listeners in 1938 that the denizens of the Red Planet had landed has absolutely nothing on today’s MSM to whip its hapless audiences into a frenzy over the Red State Menace, and I’m sure, that like Welles, they revel in it.

A GENERAL WARNING: A friend emails “it’s important to keep in mind that there are a lot of “draft executive orders” floating around right now, most of which are written by people who don’t have influence and most of which won’t be signed by Trump.”

That’s true. Heck, I’ve drafted executive orders in the past, when I was a lawyer/lobbyist, ultimately to no effect.

CHANGE: Trump expected to move Space Command headquarters out of Colorado in his ‘first week.’

Space Command, separate from the Trump-created Space Force, has been the center of a years-long controversy about whether to put its headquarters in Colorado or Alabama. Trump has favored the deep-red Alabama, while Biden favored the deep-blue Colorado. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) told Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5 that Trump would settle the dispute as one of his first moves in office.

“President Trump said in the campaign that he was going to reverse that decision if elected,” he said, referring to Biden’s decision to move the headquarters to Colorado. “But I knew he would because if you remember, not only did Alabama win two nationwide competitions, but President Trump’s secretary of the Air Force recommended Huntsville, President Biden’s secretary of the Air Force recommended Huntsville, and then Biden took it away for political reasons.”

“But it’s going to be a big point now because President Trump’s already announced it, and I think you’ll see in the first week that he’s in office, he’ll sign an executive order reversing Biden’s directive,” he continued. “And we will start construction next year in Huntsville.”

There’s a lot of Air Force history in Colorado Springs, and local USAF elements are now Space Force. But moving HQ out of Colorado is probably a smart move. At an event last year, a Space Force wife told me they were having an impossible time finding affordable housing — and she was the wife of a general.

DISMANTLE WOKE, INC., BY KILLING ITS SUBSIDIES. Two thoughts: First, defunding NPR at the federal level is worth doing, but not likely to have much effect. Most of NPR’s funding comes in the form of fees paid for programming by its affiliates. However, those affiliates are often state run and state funded. Red state governments could easily simply forbid them from buying programming from NPR (or possibly from anyone). That would save money, and encourage the local stations, most of which are university-affiliated, to develop their own programming, which would be more educational for students anyway.

JIM TREACHER: Chloe Fineman Is a Bully: What happened to tolerating neurodivergence? “Much like ‘transgender’ and ‘brat,’ it’s one of those words that just pops up out of nowhere. And we’re all supposed to act like it makes sense, or we’ll be cast out of the tribe. But now, as suddenly as it appeared, neurodivergence is no longer an excuse. At least if the subject is Elon Musk.”

FDR MEETS HITLER! Trump Meets With Biden, Republican Lawmakers in D.C.

I find it hilarious that Biden is hosting Trump even though it is tradition and the norm. He’s also trying to show he’s a better person than Trump with a peaceful transfer of power.

However, it doesn’t make sense since Trump is *literally* a threat to democracy, Nazi, fascist, etc.

Someone tell the left that Biden is hosting Hitler and transferring power to him.

The Democrats (and the rest of us) would be much better served by an in-house media that doesn’t dial the hyperbole up to 11: Biden was never going to be the second coming of FDR, as Time magazine predicted in late October of 2020, and Trump was never the second coming of Hitler, as the entire left shouted in lockstep, likely after Camp Kamala looked at their dreadful internal polls and sounded the alarm in October of this year. The sugar high of the Two Minute Hate produces a spectacular crash after it’s over, both at the top of the Democratic Party (as Biden is discovering today), and among its foot soldiers:

UPDATE: Always nice to see Trump having a cheerful in-person meeting with one of his voters:

OUT: THE DEEP STATE IS A PARANOID RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY. IN: THE DEEP STATE IS REAL, AND THANK GOD. “The level of gaslighting here is unworldly.”

INDEED:

TV is hardly an ideal medium for news analysis and never was. Hack sources like MSNBC are infinitely worse.

NEW BLOOD NEEDED: Scott Jennings Gives Masterclass In Shutting Down Lib Outrage Over Trump’s Defense Sec. Pick.

And video:

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): I do think it was probably a mistake to announce a purge of senior military officers before taking power. We’ll see how insurrection-y the Democrats can get here. That said, I’ve written elsewhere about the various structural reasons why a coup in the United States would be exceptionally difficult.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Democrats Are at a Dead End, Unless They Learn From Trump.

Make no mistake: Any Republican other than Trump would also have been branded a “fascist” and woman-hater, but unlike a typical politician, Trump never tried to soften his image to please his enemies.

Biden could only compete with Trump because he reminded voters of the days before Democrats went woke.

They wanted to believe they could still vote for the party of Franklin Roosevelt or John F. Kennedy, a patriotic party with a focus on blue-collar workers, not just the financial interests and identity-politics obsessions of the college-educated elite.

Biden challenged Trump for Trump’s own voters, even if in truth Biden wasn’t so different from the politically correct yuppies who’ve run the Democratic Party since the 1990s.

Biden was too infirm to fight a second election, yet Democrats had no one else — and no one on their horizon today looks ready to compete with the populist Trump-Vance version of the GOP.

This leadership crisis began with Barack Obama.

What’s true for kings is true for presidents as well: Success depends on producing an heir.

Republicans could stand to keep that last part in mind, too.

WELCOME TO THE PARTY, PAL: ‘Morning Joe’ crew reads Maureen Dowd column ripping identity politics: ‘Democrats are realizing woke is broke!’

Brzezinski, who kicked off the reading of the piece, said:

“I think a lot of people have already been talking about this. We have a lot of calls about this piece. It’s an interesting message for Democrats … It really crystallized how some Democrats are waking up and realizing that woke is broke.”

As Brzezinski began to read, clips flashed on the screen, illustrating Dowd’s words, such as a clip of Trump on the campaign trail lamenting not being able to call women “beautiful” and another clip of a CNN contributor criticizing the “trashing” of campuses in political protests.

It certainly took them long enough to admit it but, then again, the Party told them to reject the evidence of their eyes and ears.
