INFLATION, ONCE UNLEASHED, IS DIFFICULT TO TAME: Consumer prices rose 0.4% in February and 3.2% from a year ago. “Inflation rose again in February, keeping the Federal Reserve on course to wait at least until the summer before starting to lower interest rates.”

I’m so old, I remember when inflation was imaginary, transitory, over with already, and a high-class problem to have.

BIDEN’S FEDS SECRETLY SPEND $40 BILLION: The secret spending comes under the vague classification of “Other Transaction Agreements,” or OTAs. Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) wants answers on why Biden administration officials in the Treasury Department refuse to disclose these OTAs on USAspending.gov, as they are required to do by law.

IT’S JUST FACTS BIDEN IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR LAKEN RILEY’S DEATH: Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) claimed during her State of the Union response that Georgia nursing student Laken Riley “was brutally murdered by one of the millions of illegal border crossers President Biden chose to release into our homeland.” In response, Politifact defended Biden, claiming “Biden does not decide who is released into the country.”

So who is right, Britt or Politifact?

According to Just Facts Daily, published by the Just Facts Research Institute, the steps by which Biden became accountable for Riley’s death are clear. And so are the 17 examples of Politifact’s long history of spreading falsehoods. Ya gotta read this one folks!

MORE ON BIDEN’S LATEST BAD IDEA: So, a Pier for Hamas it is. “This will take about 1,000 personnel to accomplish. I don’t know a single maritime professional who thinks this is a good idea given the location and conditions ashore, but orders are orders. Make the best attempt you can.”

WE NEED FREE SPEECH ON CAMPUS, EVEN FOR IDIOTS: Texas Tech Investigates Professor for Social Media Posts: The AFA objects. “Funez-Flores has shared his thoughts on the events in Israel and Gaza on social media. As with many academics, his views on Israel are controversial. In his case, expressing his private political opinions on social media resulted in his being suspended, investigated, and threatened with termination by his state university employer.”

From the Academic Freedom Alliance: “There can be no question that the social media posts of Professor Funez-Flores are constitutionally protected expressions of private political opinions and cannot themselves form the basis of university discipline. For the university to explicitly leverage complaints about such social media posts into grounds for a fishing expedition into the professor’s professional conduct on campus is not only inconsistent with the university’s policies and constitutional commitments but has a direct chilling effect on all members of the faculty who might wish to engage in their own constitutionally protected expressive activities on controversial topics. The publicly announced suspension and investigation is itself a form of punishment, and the stated cause of this punishment is that the faculty member engaged in protected political expression that some found ‘hateful, antisemitic, and unacceptable.'”

That’s right, and Texas Tech should know better. The only bright side is that as campus leftists face the kind of negative repercussions for their speech that they’ve been happily doling out to conservatives and libertarians, perhaps they’ll once again support free speech. Perhaps.

THE THREE CARD MONTY GUYS RUN CLEANER GAMES: NYC’s Illegal Alien Debit Card Scam. “There’s a scam sweeping New York City. And by ‘New York City,’ I mean ‘the New York City mayor’s office.’ Instead of feeding the illegal aliens New York has lured there as a ‘sanctuary city,’ Eric Adams has decided to just hand out preloaded debit cards.”

GIVE A MAN A FISH AND YOU FEED HIM FOR A DAY. DEPORT A MAN AND YOU NEVER HAVE TO FEED HIM AGAIN.

DEI MUST DIE:

I note, though, that all the biggest marketing horror stories seem to come from listening to DEI people.

JIM TREACHER: Deadspin Now Just Plain Dead.

A few months ago, I noted that liberals sure do hate children. They want to abort as many babies as they can, and the ones who survive will be castrated in the name of “trans rights.” And any normal kids who just like doing normal kid stuff, like going to NFL games, will be libeled by liberal hack “sportswriters.”

Like this poor kid:

Holden Armenta never did anything to hurt anybody, yet he was defamed by a clown named Carron J. Phillips, who got paid by a clown blog called Deadspin. A grown man picked on a blameless little boy for money.

That happened back in November. If it made you angry, I’ve got some great news.

Exit question:

THE SKEPTICS WERE WRONG, PART 1. Over the past decade, the average number of deplatforming attempts involving students per year has quadrupled.

JOHN PODHORETZ: I Refute His Oscar.

First, let’s take it literally and take it to mean Glazer and his producers “refute their Jewishness.” Obviously this is bad, because they are refuting their Jewishness as they accept an award for a movie about the effort made 80 years ago to destroy all Jewishness. Anti-Semites are falling all over themselves to defend Glazer from the charge that he has “refuted his Jewishness.” Rather, they say, he refutes that Jewishness offers a defense for Israeli actions after October 7, or for the “occupation,” or for whatever argle-bargle these putrid preachers of self-satisfied vanity decide is the “root cause” of things they don’t like.

His defenders include such notable champions of Zion as the former Bernie Sanders aide cum Koch-funded scholar Matt Duss once pictured posing in a Hamas tunnel, Mehdi Hasan, the recently axed MSNBC host and Hamas apologist, the Democratic strategist Waleed Shahid, and MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, a onetime radical magazine journalist who turned out to be winsome on TV, to his immense good fortune. One of his qualities is that he loathes Israel almost as much as he loves his $5 million salary paid by the Robertses, the Jewish family that owns Comcast. It’s blood money, Chris! Give it back! Otherwise it might get into the hands of occupiers!

Hayes should know to stay out of this. Like, don’t opine on what is and what isn’t anti-Semitic, smart boy, especially after hosting Al Sharpton for years on your show, whose contributions to Jewish refutation have included rallying people against a business in Harlem that was then set on fire by one of Sharpton’s fan boys, killing seven people while Sharpton continued to skate through life by scaring Democratic politicians and eating their souls rather than the fatty foods that used to define his rotund shape.

Not to mention you can refute your Jewishness all you like, Glazer, but if a terrorist arrived at a Golders Green synagogue where your nephew was becoming bar mitzvah and decided to bomb the place, you’d be as dead as you would have been had you not “refuted” it. This is the problem: They want to kill Jews. You’re a Jew. They want to kill you. Your refutation is immaterial.

Which is to say, the issue is not whether Glazer is comfortable with his status as a Jew but rather that he is living a life of existential risk after October 7 because of it. And he should know this all better than anyone, since his movie is about how merely to be a Jew is to be subject to efforts at mass extermination.

Needless to say, read the whole thing.

TIME FOR HIGHER EDUCATION REFORM: Taking On the College Cartel. “What’s needed today is a heavy dose of trust-busting, deregulation, and entrepreneurial energy.” Particularly with regard to the accreditation trust.

I’M NOT SURPRISED: Most teens report feeling happy or peaceful when they go without smartphones, Pew survey finds. “The survey comes as policymakers and children’s advocates are growing increasingly concerned with teens’ relationships with their phones and social media. Last fall, dozens of states, including California and New York, sued Instagram and Facebook owner Meta Platforms Inc. for harming young people and contributing to the youth mental health crisis by knowingly and deliberately designing features that addict children. In January, the CEOs of Meta, TikTok, X and other social media companies went before the Senate Judiciary Committee to testify about their platforms’ harms to young people.”

IT’S NOT A LIE, IT’S A “STUTTER”: Biden has a considerable record of incoherently slurring words into gibberish, but that’s not really news. And many of his apologists blame his frequent word salad on his “stuttering.” That’s not news, either.

But tell me, gentle readers, will they blame stuttering on what is clearly an outright lie? The Daily Caller is reporting that:

“Hur’s report detailing the president’s handling of classified documents made several notes about Biden’s memory, including that he forgot the date of his son’s death and when his vice presidency began and ended. Biden held an unexpected press conference a few hours after the release of the report, criticizing Hur for questioning his late son’s death. The president, however, was the one who raised the date of his son’s death, according to the transcript the Daily Caller obtained.”

As many of you may know, two years ago I suffered the loss in a fire of my girlfriend of 22 years. I had to say kaddish for her two weeks ago, and as any of you who has ever lost a loved one, those dates are burned into your soul. The idea that Biden dissembles about Beau’s death (no, he did not die in Iraq)  is terribly troubling.

Either:

  • he is outright lying;
  • his brain is truly oatmeal;
  • his handlers find it a convenient “outrage” topic; or
  • we embrace the power of “and.”

**Update***  JustTheNews published a detailed list of Biden’s mush-brained responses to Special Counsel Hur. There just ain’t enough Adderall to keep this guy’s sh*t together.
