COVERING THE IMPORTANT NEWS: A History of the Last Time I Ate at a Chinese Buffet. “As the waitress went off to retrieve my drink, I stood up, aimed myself at the buffet, and….RELEASE THE KRAKEN! It’s easy, especially if you’re somewhat tallish and large-bodied, as I am, to imagine yourself as Godzilla, grabbing up random things — egg rolls, fishing boats, pork dumplings, Tokyo office towers — and snapping them with your jaws, the crumbs of buildings and chicken parts falling onto the dun-colored carpet below.”

DEMOCRACY DIES IN RACISM: WaPo Describes Justice Clarence Thomas: “the Black justice whose rulings often resemble the thinking of White conservatives.” “Justice Thomas still deigns to think for himself, and refuses to kowtow to the old order run by Thompson and Clyburn. And for that reason, he continues to be destroyed by the left, without even the slightest hesitation. Oh, and by the way, in 2005 then-Senator Biden threatened to filibuster then-Justice Janice Rogers Brown, who credibly could have (and should have) become the first black woman on the Supreme Court.”

THE PARENTS’ REVOLT: Why Asian Americans like me are the rising new parental power.

Chinese people in the United States, especially first- and second-generation immigrants, have historically paid little attention to politics because Chinese culture does not encourage civic engagement. We are either too busy making money to support our families or we think the games that politicians play do not affect us.

To be honest, I was like that, too. But the pandemic has made me realize that the decisions made by local elected officials do affect our actual lives!

During 18 months of online classes, my son was completely unengaged in school and wasted his time all day, every day, playing video games. But San Francisco Board of Education members Gabriela López, Alison Collins and Faauuga Moliga did not recognize or try to fix the problem — instead they focused on renaming schools.

Then they ignored protests from the Asian American community and canceled the merit-based admissions system at Lowell HS. Adding fuel to the fire, Collins blatantly discriminated against Asians with her racist tweets. “Many” Asian Americans “use white supremacist thinking to assimilate and ‘get ahead,’ ” she wrote, and added, “Being a house n—-r is still being a n—-r.”

She chose . . . poorly.

DEMOCRACY DIES IN DOXXING: Washington Post seeks to dox and shame donors to Canadian freedom protesters.

After crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo was hacked over the weekend and information was leaked about who had donated to the Canadian truckers’ freedom convoy, the CBC and CTV both began contacting those donors. Now the Washington Post has joined their ranks and are contacting people to ask why they donated.

An email shared by journalist Saagar Enjeti appeared to be by a reporter with the Washington Post, who said they were “writing about leaked data on GiveSendGo contributions to the trucker convoy in Canada.

“Your name and email address are associated with a $40 contribution. Could you please tell me if this matches your records, and either call or reply to this email to share what motivated you to contribute to the campaign?”

At the dawn of the Obama era, the Washington Post, via its then-sister publication Newsweek declared “We Are All Socialists Now.” Now we know they had East Germany in mind as their target nation.

DISPATCHES FROM THE BLUE ZONES: Fewer than 50 Seattle police officers working first watch for the whole city.

Multiple sources in the Seattle Police Department told The Post Millennial that sufficient staffing levels for a city as populated as Seattle should have no less than 250 officers on each watch.

However, according to those same sources, there were only 47 patrol officers working first watch on Friday, putting the department operating at only 18 percent capacity.

To paint a better picture of the dire situation, as the staffing crisis got worse during the “Defund the Police” movement, the department pulled police personnel from other departments–like detectives and traffic officers–and put them back on patrol.

This means that staffing numbers are exceedingly low even after the department has utilized all available resources.

CHRISTIAN TOTO: Is Russell Brand the New Joe Rogan? “Now, Brand is taking on Big Tech Censorship, media bias and pandemic narratives. He sounds like a cross between Rogan and Glenn Beck, but he’s doing it with a wink and a grin.”

THIS IS CNN: The Chris Cuomo/CNN Saga Abruptly Takes a Dark Turn.

According to the woman, she was working as a temporary staffer on ABC News in 2011 and was hoping for a permanent role.

Chris invited her to his office for lunch, she says. She arrived but found there was no food. He then allegedly started ‘badgering’ her for sex and when she refused him, she says he sexually assaulted her. No other details about the alleged assault have been made public. The woman said she then sent him friendly emails to try to smooth things over.

When the #MeToo movement gained momentum, she said she heard from Chris – by this time CNN’s star host. He said he wanted to run a segment on the firm where she worked.

She said she interpreted it as a veiled threat not to come forward with her own #MeToo claim. A spokesman for Cuomo denied the allegations outlined in the letter.

Elsewhere at CNN, great moments in timing: ‘Irate’ Chris Wallace Has Meltdown Over Jeff Zucker-Allison Gollust Scandal, Said To Be At War In D.C. Bureau With Jake Tapper. “He went over there for Zucker and now Zucker is gone. Wallace feels that he has been stiffed. He’s got no staff, no Executive Producer and the guy he gave up a prized gig for has just walked out the door.”

CHANGE: The US will finally allow adaptive beam headlights on new cars. “The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is finally poised to legalize adaptive beam headlights in the US. On Tuesday, the NHTSA announced that it has issued a final rule that will update the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, which currently only allow for “dumb” high- and low-beam lights. Adaptive beam lights use a matrix of projectors, some of which can be turned off to shape the beam so the lights illuminate the road but don’t shine at an oncoming driver. (These are an advancement over the auto-high beam technology that you may have fitted to your current car.) The technology has been around for nearly two decades in Europe and Japan. Automakers have been asking the NHTSA to update its headlamp rules for some time now. In 2013, Toyota first petitioned the agency to allow for adaptive beam lights, and the NHTSA agreed to begin the laborious and lengthy federal government rulemaking procedure.”

CHANGE? Push to break-up Milwaukee Public Schools begins in Wisconsin Legislature.

Something has to change is the basic argument from Republican lawmakers and the groups supporting the plan to break-up Milwaukee Public Schools.

The Assembly’s Committee on Education heard from a long list of people on Wednesday who either support or condemn the plan.

“As the chief policymakers, we are responsible for public education,” Sen. Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, told the committee.

Darling’s plan would split MPS into anywhere from four to eight separate school districts, and expand school choice throughout the city.

She said MPS is too large, and not able to effectively educate its kids.

CJ Szafir with the Institute for Reforming Government said the test scores and grades tell the story.

“Roughly two out of every three fourth graders in Wisconsin are not proficient in reading. Wisconsin ranks last in the country for reading proficiency for black students,” Szafir told lawmakers. “Since 1992, Wisconsin is one of only six states to see a significant drop in reading test scores.”

Democrat-run, union-organized, big-city public education is inherently racist.

IT’S COME TO THIS: Ilhan Omar criticizes journalists for doxxing Canadian truckers’ donors. “How odd that reporters have such interest in this crowdfunding effort, as opposed to tracking down the donors to other protest movements with actual violence on their record. Will DDOS hack into BLM’s donor data after bailing out the attempted assassin in Louisville yesterday with those funds? Are reporters planning on asking corporate supporters of BLM whether they regret their financial support in light of yesterday’s events? Probably not, which is why Omar’s criticism might have aimed at the wrong target but still scored some points. Media outlets and social-media platforms seem very happy to use hacked materials to shine a bright line on private individuals donating to disfavored causes, but much less so when asked to look into potential corruption involving the family members of powerful Democrats.”

ANOTHER BIG BIDEN FAIL: Where’s That Pandemic Testing Board He Promised Us? “The Pandemic Testing Board was supposed to be a big deal, so big that here we are, more than a year later, and Pro Publica had to remind me that the Pandemic Testing Board was supposed to be a thing at all.”

ANNALS OF LEFTIST AUTOPHAGY: NFL Hires Obama-Era Attorney General Loretta Lynch To Fight Brian Flores’ Discrimination Lawsuit. “In his lawsuit against the NFL, Flores is accusing the organization of pervasive racial bias and has named three teams — the Broncos, Dolphins and New York Giants — as defendants. Now, in quite a twist, it will be Lynch, the first black woman appointed to head the Justice Department, who will be defending Roger Goodell’s shield and those who’ve been accused of racial bias in hiring practices…In his CBS interview [Wednesday], Mr. Flores was asked if ‘clubs have the right to hire the person they think is the best qualified for the job or the person they feel is right for them?’ Mr. Flores responded, ‘They do. That’s very reasonable to me…’ That is exactly what we did.”
