NARRATIVES DON’T ESTABLISH THEMSELVES, YOU KNOW: The Insidious Historical Revisionism of ‘The Gilded Age.’ “The fact that the HBO version of Fortune has nothing to say about the corruption of the Democrats of the time, whose military arm became the murderous KKK, is unconscionable.”

SHUT UP, THEY EXPLAINED: YouTube Censors Mom Fighting School Mask Mandates.

Shortly after Jensen spoke to the Prince William County School Board, my colleagues Lauren Evans, Mark Guiney, and Philip Reynolds interviewed her. They thought our audience would want to learn more about what inspired this mom, and why she was opposed to mask mandates in schools.

In other words, they were acting like true journalists.

But YouTube has an issue with that.

The Daily Signal produced a compelling video, splicing Jensen’s school board speech with her interview. We let her explain how masks had affected her kids. “My son came home the first day of school with an extreme headache, and went to bed with a stomachache because he was so anxious,” she told us, adding, “For two weeks, he came home with a headache.”

“We took him to the doctor,” she recounted, and “it was all because of the mask.”

But now you can’t see that video on YouTube.

On Thursday, a YouTube representative emailed The Daily Signal, saying that the video had been “removed from YouTube for violating YouTube’s COVID-19 medical misinformation policy.”

There is no policy, only political expediency. Today’s “misinformation” will become tomorrow’s “received wisdom” before the midterms get rolling, and YouTube will roll with it.

WHAT IS IT WITH DEMOCRATS AND KIDS? Parents, 12-year-old say Abby Broyles verbally ‘accosted’ kids at Valentine’s party.

According to multiple accounts of the evening, Broyles became intoxicated and spoke derogatorily to some of the girls. She allegedly called one girl an “acne fucker,” which prompted the girl to leave the room in tears. Broyles allegedly called another girl a “Hispanic fucker” and another a “judgy fucker.”

At one point, Broyles allegedly vomited into a laundry basket and onto one girl’s shoes.

To be fair, she does sound like she’d fit right into the Dems’ Congressional delegation.

YES:

GWENDOLYN SIMS: ‘DOG’ Is Much More Than a Buddy Road Trip Movie. “‘Sir, are you asking me to fly a damn dog to Arizona?’ asks medically retired Army Ranger Jackson Briggs (Channing Tatum). ‘No, I’m asking you to drive a Ranger to Arizona,’ Captain Jones (Luke Forbes) replies. ‘She refuses to fly.’ And so begins DOG, a road trip movie about a dog that ends up being about so much more.“

JOE BIDEN: “YOU’RE WELCOME!” A new sticker sighted in the wild near Dayton, Ohio. #Resist!

Plus, a more traditional sticker from deep blue Connecticut:

BIDEN: ‘Every indication’ is that Russia will attack Ukraine ‘within the next several days.’

But: Poles want 1,000 U.S. anti-tank missiles for Ukraine. “The Polish military made an urgent request for 1,000 U.S. Army Javelin anti-tank missiles earlier this month, but Pentagon red tape is delaying efforts to get large numbers of the missiles to the Ukrainian military.”

Biden is awfully unprepared for a war he’s so certain is coming.

TO BE FAIR, THEY’RE NO LONGER USEFUL TO THE DEMOCRATS AND HAVE BECOME A DRAG ON THEIR POLLING: Amazon suspends Black Lives Matter from its charity platform. “The beleaguered Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation has been kicked off Amazon’s charity platform for its failure to disclose where tens of millions in donations it received nearly two years ago have ended up.”

ROBERT SPENCER: Trudeau Isn’t Hitler, But…

The Enabling Act allowed Hitler to enact laws without Reichstag approval and with the same dispatch that Trudeau once admired about Communist China: “Laws enacted by the Reich government shall be issued by the Chancellor and announced in the Reich Gazette. They shall take effect on the day following the announcement, unless they prescribe a different date.”

Like Canada’s Emergencies Act, all this was supposed to be only temporary; the Enabling Act was set to expire on April 1, 1937. Once Hitler had consolidated his power and destroyed all the opposition parties, however, there was no question that the Enabling Act would continue: it was renewed by Hitler’s rubber-stamp National Socialist Reichstag in 1937 and 1939, and by decree in 1941 and 1943, the latter time without a time limit.

Funny, Trudeau always reminded me more of a certain Caribbean dictator.

MY NEW YORK POST COLUMN: The left is losing its war on parents.

The first is the brittle, arrogant and defensive response of our ruling class to any kind of political opposition nowadays. What kind of mind turns parents complaining at a school-board meeting into some sort of “domestic terrorism” threat? (The same kind that turns peacefully protesting truckers into “insurrectionists,” I suppose.)

In what previous age of American history would secret targeting and federal investigations of people engaging in a bedrock institution of participatory democracy have been seen as appropriate? Who calls people racist for wanting their kids to learn?

In this age, alas, those things happen, and the people doing them — the people who are supposed to be our society’s leaders, the best and the brightest, the level-headed non-extremists of the establishment — are frankly more than a little bit crazy.

No sane person would respond this way, and yet respond this way they do, over and over again. (And every time they do, they label their opponents racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, etc., wielding those adjectives like magic curse words, even though they’re pretty much always bogus.)

Bogus indeed.

THE RECRIMINATIONS BEGIN: Top Dems blame the Squad for the party’s problems. “Why it matters: The push to defund the police, rename schools and tear down statues has created a significant obstacle to Democrats keeping control of the House, the Senate and the party’s overall image. . . . House Democrats’ own polling and focus groups show many swing voters think the party is too “preachy,” “judgmental” and “focused on culture wars,” according to documents obtained by Politico. An Axios-Ipsos Latino Poll found crime and gun violence are leading worries for Hispanics, whose once-reliable support for Democrats has cooled in part because of “fears of Democrats embracing socialist policies,” The New York Times reported.”

Related: The Squad’s own-goals led Dems down primrose path. “There’s nothing terribly mystifying about this. Democrats didn’t even have the blinding spectacle of a landslide election to excuse their fantasy-politics adoption. In 2020, they barely won the presidency, actually lost seats in the House, only gained control of the Senate when Donald Trump and his allies ruined GOP efforts in Georgia’s runoff election, and made no significant gains in state legislatures. From that mess, progressives somehow convinced themselves that they had their collective finger on the political pulse of America. Even worse, they convinced the utterly incompetent Joe Biden of the same thing — even though he had campaigned explicitly as a centrist. Instead of focusing on meat-and-potatoes issues that matter daily to voters such as the economy, crime, and in this case the pandemic, Democrats went all-in on climate change, federalizing elections, and wild spending that predictably touched off a massive inflationary wave that hadn’t been seen in 40 years.”

Plus: “The Washington Post points out that the Squad politics adopted by Joe Biden has resulted not in fights between suburban and rural Republicans, but urban-core Democrats who are looking for some law and order, among other basic deliverables.”

OBJECTIVELY PRO-ASSASSINATION: Dem Heavyweights Back BLM Bail Fund That Freed Would-Be Assassin. “The bail fund, for example, has an active page on ActBlue, the political fundraising platform used universally by Democratic candidates across the country. Justice Democrats—a far-left PAC that supports Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.)—also actively fundraises for the bail group on the platform. Contributions sent to the Louisville Community Bail Fund through ActBlue are routed through the Tides Center, a liberal dark money behemoth that has received millions of dollars from Soros. Tides gave nearly $740,000 to the bail fund in 2020, tax filings show.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: The Limbaugh Legacy Is Still the Heart of Conservative Media. “Even after Rush had become very successful, it still would have been impossible to envision the explosion in conservative media that we’re experiencing now. Heck, this was hard to see even back in 2009. However, where we are at now is all directly traceable back to what Rush Limbaugh willed conservative political talk radio to become.”

OF COURSE THEY DO: Dem Heavyweights Back BLM Bail Fund That Freed Would-Be Assassin: Louisville Community Bail Fund freed activist charged with trying to murder Jewish mayoral candidate.

The Louisville Community Bail Fund, an affiliate of the city’s Black Lives Matter chapter, posted $100,000 bail on Wednesday to spring Quintez Brown from jail following his arrest on charges of trying to assassinate Jewish Democratic mayoral hopeful Craig Greenberg. The group’s ability to quickly procure such a hefty sum comes thanks to its support from prominent Democratic organizations.

The bail fund, for example, has an active page on ActBlue, the political fundraising platform used universally by Democratic candidates across the country. Tides gave nearly $740,000 to the bail fund in 2020, tax filings show.

The Louisville Community Bail Fund’s presence on the Democratic Party’s leading fundraising platform undercuts party leaders’ repeated denials of being soft on crime. The Democratic National Committee used ActBlue to rake in nearly $500 million in 2020, the same year Vice President Kamala Harris used the platform to promote a similar bail fund that freed an alleged domestic abuser weeks before he was arrested again for murder.

ActBlue, Justice Democrats, and the Tides Center did not return requests for comment.

On Monday, police charged Brown with attempted murder and four counts of wanton endangerment after he allegedly entered Greenberg’s campaign office, pulled a gun, and began shooting. A prominent Louisville activist, Brown accused police of working to “maintain the status quo of the spectacular Black death” in a 2021 Louisville Courier Journal column. Greenberg, meanwhile, is an unabashed supporter of police—his campaign is centered on a plan to root out violent crime by hiring more law enforcement officers.

Sounds like a political hit.
