CRISIS BY DESIGN: Biden Fires Trump-Appointed Immigration Judges. “Grassley and Jordan are pretty sure they know why the illegal immigrant-loving Biden admin sacked the judges, and they even have a receipt.”
EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY: Recession ‘is here’ and will ‘last for awhile,’ former White House economist says.
During an interview on “Mornings with Maria” Thursday, former Reagan economist Art Laffer discussed the economic risks the country is facing, arguing recession is already here and will last for a while as the Fed tries to navigate rising prices.
ART LAFFER: Can I just say, how can they forecast a 50% chance of a recession when it’s already happened, Maria? The first quarter was negative. The second quarter probably is negative as well. If you believe the Atlanta Fed, the recession is already here. It’s already happened. 50% is just a silly number. We’re in a recession. The question is, how bad is it going to be?
The fun part will be reading all the “Unexpectedly” articles once the recession becomes official.
THE GASLIGHTING IS AS OBVIOUS AS IT IS LAME: What Recession? You Won’t Believe Biden’s Latest Goalpost Adjustment. “Glorious news, comrades! Your economic growth ration has been increased from 10 grams to negative five grams!”

DOUBLING DOWN ON STUPID: US Army Abandons Recruitment Goals, But Not Its Woke Policies.
There’s an evil genius at play here. Democrats have finally figured out how to gut the military without derailing the contractors’ gravy train.
PROTECTING CIVIL RIGHTS IS A CORE FUNCTION OF GOVERNMENT: Limited government action may be needed to protect free speech, law professor argues.

UNEXPECTEDLY: California alleged drug traffickers in massive fentanyl bust no-shows in court after release on cashless bail.
Defendants Jose Zendejas, 25, and Benito Madrigal, 19 — released on their own recognizance less than 24 hours after their arrests with the large stash of illicit drugs — were scheduled to appear for their arraignments at the Tulare County Courthouse in central California on Thursday morning, but both men failed to show.
The judge called for Zendejas and Madrigal — both from Washington state — who were not in court, and the warrant for their arrest continues.
The judge withdrew the prior $2 million bond and directed each be held without bond if they pop up.
That’s a mighty big if.
KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: On Cue, Biden Gets the COVID Pre-Election Panic Ball Rolling. “If it can get to the President of the United States, it can get to anyone. THE SKY IS MOST DEFINITELY FALLING!!!”
A NEW RELEASE FROM THE SUPREME BEINGS OF LEISURE: Full Circle.
MY NEW YORK POST COLUMN: America’s woke Army is facing a recruiting nightmare. “The worst part is this: The military leadership has broken faith with the troops. We don’t hear much about the debacle in Afghanistan that took place not even a year ago — since it makes a Democratic administration look bad, it’s not a fit subject for conversation in polite society — but people haven’t forgotten.”

JOSH BLACKMAN: A Quick Breakdown Of The Right To Contraception Act.
Word on campus is that a flood of women going to get IUDs in the wake of the Dobbs decision has caused long waits. Which, given the rather casual attitude of undergrads toward contraception in recent years, suggests a significant change.

FROM HIS LIPS TO GOD’S EAR: Newt Gingrich: GOP ‘tsunami’ could oust Democrats for two generations.
But don’t get cocky, kids. This is the GOP, they can blow anything.
#JOURNALISM: In its article about Dave Chappelle, The Washington Post changes “recent transphobic jokes” to “recent jokes about transgender people” and makes no note of the correction. “I’ll repeat my criticism that this was an important, substantive change correcting a shameful journalistic mistake. It should be acknowledged forthrightly, with assurance that the paper will pay attention and make an effort to avoid repeating this mistake. I want to see a ‘CORRECTION’ notice on this article!”

KNEE DEEP: Crap Economics.
Why is there a fertilizer shortage, you ask? Because the United States imports 93 percent of our potash, a key nutrient used in making fertilizer, while Russia and Belarus are responsible for 40 percent of the global potash supply.
Naturally, the folks who decided to make us dependent on fertilizer imports are the same people who decided to blockade Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. That should tell you everything you need to know about our ruling class.
But it gets worse. The same Very Smart People who orchestrated the fertilizer shortage are also working hard to blacklist the cattle industry. Cow farts are tearing a hole in the ozone, they argue, which is why they have to cripple our ranchers with new methane taxes. It’s getting so bad in the Netherlands that cattle farmers are in open revolt against the Dutch government.
No cows, no cowshit.
These Very Smart People are poised to upend the global economy. And they don’t care.

BADTHINK MUST BE PUNISHED: Roger Kimball: The Ivy League scolds come for Amy Wax.
I have always admired the tag corruptio optima pessima: the corruption of the best is the worst. Take the Ivy League. These super-rich, super-prestigious institutions are so wealthy and so beguiling because, once upon a time, they represented and — more to the point — successfully transmitted to their students the prime civilizational values of our culture.
We’re told, and I have no reason to disbelieve it, that the light we see from distant stars is very old and, in some cases, is light from stars that were long ago extinguished. It is same with the Ivy League and their near competitors.
Today, they are utterly bankrupt — not financially, of course. No, in a good old greedy capitalist sense, they are filthy, stinking rich. It is only in an intellectual and moral sense that they are bankrupt. They are, all of them, totally in thrall to what we have come to call “woke” ideology, which has poisoned the well of their intellectual pretensions by subordinating the life of the mind to identity politics.
All the old liberal virtues — disinterested inquiry, due process, colorblind justice, advance according to merit, not some extraneous racial, ethnic, or sexual quota — all that has been rebranded as the invidious patent of reactionary and therefore impermissible vice. In sum, the educational establishment in its highest reaches is today a cesspool, contaminating the society it had been, at great expense, created to nurture.
True enough.
