MY CUTE LITTLE LAW SCHOOL IS GOING DOWN THE TUBES: No, I didn’t plant this sad story about the University of San Diego. I didn’t know about it till it was published. But if the author had consulted me I could have given him details that would have shown the situation is much worse than his article depicts.
ANALYSIS: TRUE. Taiwan can’t fend off China without US weapons. And we should be sending them.
That said, if China takes over Taiwan it’s more likely to be via subversion than invasion. As they’ve demonstrated with our own governing class, they’re good at that.
MSNBC PANEL STUNNED THAT ‘KITCHEN TABLE ISSUES’ ARE PRIORITY IN MIDTERMS:
[Wajahat] Ali, a Daily Beast columnist, said politicians and media figures were only worried about power.
“I just want Democrats to have a spine and punch the bully in the face to bring, finally, a knife to a knife fight and not just bring a pencil,” Ali said. “But unfortunately this is where we are.”
[Mehdi] Hasan said during his show that the media was to blame for the polling showing voters were more concerned about the economy than threats to democracy.
“It’s shocking, it really worries me, just how many smart, well-read people don’t appreciate the current threat to democracy, they don’t take it seriously,” Hasan said.
“Voters, again and again, put gas prices above the future of democracy itself,” Hasan said, before turning to the Pennsylvania Senate debate between Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman.
Hasan said the media coverage of the debate was “embarrassing” and focused on all the wrong things, such as Fetterman’s health.
Paying attention to a Democrat’s health is “ableist” in 2022, apparently.
Elsewhere at MSNBC: Jon Meacham Tells MSNBC Midterms ‘The Gravest Test’ Since The Civil War.
Imploring voters to vote for the blue team, Meacham continued, “We have to decide what do we really believe? Do–are we so wedded to a partisan agenda in real time that we are — we want our way right now, or are just enough of us able to say, you know, I may not agree with the Democrats there this case on policy, but you know what, democracy is more important than a marginal tax rate.”
After [Andrea] Mitchell mentioned about “345 election deniers”—by which she meant Republican election deniers, Democrat election deniers never factor into these conversations—running for office, she asked, “How confident can we be that democracy does survive?”
Meacham replied by warning, “We can’t, we can’t be confident. We have to work really, really hard. This is the gravest test of citizenship since the Civil War and it’s, this is, as President Biden might say, it’s not hyperbole and it’s not a joke.”
Why are Democrats — led by a president who said in a campaign speech in 1987, “we (Delawareans) were on the South’s side in the Civil War” — still partying like it’s 1860?

538 spent the summer fluffing Democrat chances. In mid-September, N8 Ag gave Democrats a 34% chance of keeping both the House and the Senate.
RCP said all along Republicans would win the House and the Senate. It was just a matter of how many races Republicans would win.
Today it has Republicans winning between 225 and 262 seats in the House and a 53-47 majority in the Senate.
538 still insists Democrats have an 18% chance of keeping both the House and the Senate.
Who is right?
It does not matter because 538 has lost the ear of the Democrat Party. They know they are doomed. They haven’t had as big a Lost Cause since Republicans beat them in the Civil War.

THE COVID COVERUP BEGINS TO UNRAVEL:
COVID likely started circulating in China is late 2019–now 3 years ago–and its effects have dominated our lives for 2 1/2 years.
Yet for much of that time the Establishment™ has been gaslighting us about its likely origins. You know that. The Establishment™ knows that you know. And now the Senate Republicans on the health committee are laying the facts out on the table. COVID almost certainly was released accidentally from a Chinese research lab.
It was remarkable how quickly the Narrative™ settled on the zoonotic origin of the virus, since warning signs that the virus didn’t originate naturally were everywhere. Even scientists who confidently declared in private their belief that the virus was engineered publicly stated the opposite–after having been directed to by Anthony Fauci, the keeper of the keys to the kingdom’s treasury when it comes to research dollars. Fauci in recent months has been backtracking on whether or not the virus could have been engineered, but he sure expended enormous effort maintaining the fiction that an animal origin was certain.
There is a simple reason for Fauci’s reluctance to consider a lab leak hypothesis–if it came from the Wuhan Institute for Virology, the US government likely funded the research. Obviously nobody wants that on their record, and Fauci has quite the pension to protect, as well as an unearned reputation as The Science™. . . . The conspiracy to cover up the origins of the virus isn’t based upon some deep dark desire to kill off millions of people. Nor, I am certain, was the virus released intentionally to create the conditions where the people at the top could seize emergency powers to take us far down the path of tyranny–that was just a happy accident that the WEF crowd took advantage of. If they wanted to do that, they would have chosen a time when Trump wasn’t president.
No, this one is explained by something as simple as bureaucrats covering their assess after having blundered so badly that millions of people died. The emails that were FOIA’d from the NIH make that clear:
