IF THE PARTY WANTS YOU TO HAVE FUN, COMRADE, THE PARTY WILL ORDER YOU TO HAVE FUN: Stanford’s War on Social Life.

With educational standards slipping, the “college experience” was supposed to be the lure. Now the educrats have ruined that. Why go?

And why let neurotic killjoys run everything? It won’t even make them happy, because they’re incapable of happiness, and proud of that fact.

INSURRECTION! 7 arrested in House office building linked to Colbert show.

U.S. Capitol Police said Friday that officers detained seven unauthorized people in a congressional office building Thursday night and charged them with unlawful entry.

The people identified themselves as being affiliated with CBS’ “Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

Another person familiar with the matter provided the AP with a list of nine people who had been stopped by Capitol Police. They included several producers, along with Robert Smigel, the voice behind Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. . . .

The incident Thursday night followed the third public hearing by the House panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.

Capitol Police said they received a call about a disturbance in the Longworth House Office Building around 8:30 p.m. “Responding officers observed seven individuals, unescorted and without Congressional ID, in a sixth-floor hallway,” the agency said in a statement. “The building was closed to visitors, and these individuals were determined to be a part of a group that had been directed by the USCP to leave the building earlier in the day.”

The USCP statement said the case remains “an active criminal investigation, and may result in additional criminal charges.” Capitol Police, departing from standard practice, refused to provide the names of the people who were arrested.

Put ’em in solitary with no bail for year. That’s how we handle these things now, right?

I SEEM TO REMEMBER A LOT OF PILOTS QUITTING OR BEING FIRED OVER VACCINE MANDATES: Why Are Thousands of Flights Being Canceled at America’s Airports? “More than one-third of all flights at LaGuardia Airport and over a quarter of flights at Newark Airport were canceled Thursday in one of the worst travel days yet this summer. The problem is partially attributed to a lack of pilots. Retirements and losses during the pandemic have yet to be filled. And the staffing shortage isn’t limited to pilots. Flight crews, ground personnel, airport security people — all are in short supply.”

OKAY, GROOMER: BUSTED: Teacher Arrested for Having Sex with 13-Year-Olds at Lunchtime.

“Is our education system totally dead? I always knew it was filled with liberals, biased, and in dire need of help. That education gap has only increased with the COVID lockdowns. It won’t shock me if this gap is too big to bridge given all the political forces in play. But I’m talking about all these freaks we have as teachers. The ones doling out puberty blockers to kids. The ones telling students not to tell their parents about their sexually explicit lessons and homework. It’s weird. It’s inappropriate. And now we have a full-blown child porn production operation occurring at this school in Hawaii. Some teacher was having sex with 13-year-olds at lunchtime and recorded all the activity. He got even deeper into trouble when he shared his trysts with others.”

Plus: “According to federal court documents, Bunag had been sending child pornography to a teacher in Philadelphia. That teacher was arrested in October.”

You know, if it’s a priest or a minister we hear about institutional corruption. But we don’t get that narrative with schools so much even though these cases are common. And you knew the profile was going to look like this, didn’t you?

Whatever you say, champ. To be fair, he didn’t want to show kids porn, just make porn using kids. No wonder so many people are homeschooling.

THIS SEEMS PLAUSIBLE:

BRITAIN: Free Speech Bill amendments to crack down on ‘foreign’ influence on universities. This is about China, of course.

UPDATE: A friend writes:

The Brit university free speech bill as a response to anti-semitism and “no-platforming” in addition to China could be huge.

OK. So we’ve got Australians and Canadians schooling us on government overreach, with their anti lockdown and anti vax mandate protests. Now, Brits schooling us on free speech and academic integrity, with their government apparently acting in the people’s interest.

Meanwhile, in the United States, government agents and pols who should be in prison for attempting a coup walk free; looting rioters are feted as agents of social change; concerned citizens face investigations and languish in prison; and free speech on campus is championed by a few scattered individuals who risk their livelihood. Our fourth estate is fine with all that.

I thought we were supposed to be the world’s beacon on all that. You know, Bill of Rights, etc.

He adds:

Chinese involvement in US universities is not all corruption and espionage, btw.

Hundreds of thousands of Chinese students. In my current line of work, I have random, anonymous conversations with several each day.

A lot of them are keenly aware of American liberties. I talk about Boston’s experience as the initial crucible of American liberty and genesis of much of the Bill of Rights. They are often familiar with the latter, and they get its importance as a unique document aimed at ensuring the sovereignty of the individual. These are the children of the elites, who will end up running the PRC. A good number of them seem to have no illusions about their regime, and their lack of freedoms.

So the question in the long run is, who ends up as Trojan horse? Will the PRC succeed in poisoning us with its values while ripping off our technology and know-how, or will the example of our values subvert that project?

Also, they like it here. One guy the other day gushed about my vehicle. He wants a truck. So he can enjoy the American experience before he goes back. I said Xi doesn’t want you to have that. He thought that was pretty funny but agreed.

Separate, related. A Uighur woman in my car some time ago, when I said the Chinese must think we’re stupid, said emphatically, “Yes. They do. That’s what they say.”

Her American boyfriend seemed a little taken aback btw when she also agreed emphatically that our crazy orange former president was the best thing that ever happened to US-PRC relations, putting heat on them after decades of acquiescence.

I agree.

OPEN THREAD: Good heavens, Miss Pelosi, you’re beautiful! I can smell the chemicals. . . .

IT’S COME TO THIS: Jordan Peterson Hilariously Causes Fury Among the Left Again, This Time by Calling Someone ‘Beautiful.’

One of the things Peterson is doing to make it fun is turning his Twitter account into an unofficial “smash or pass” game. Previously, the good doctor set the internet on fire when he commented that Sports Illustrated’s new swimsuit model, Yumi Nu, wasn’t beautiful due to her very obvious obesity and that authoritarians attempting to force the “big is beautiful” concept on people won’t change that.

(READ: About That New Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model That Sparked a Fight About What We See as ‘Beautiful’)

Fast forward to last Thursday and it was announced that golfer and Instagram model Paige Spiranac was named Maxim magazine’s “sexiest woman alive.” Naturally, Peterson decided to add his commentary.

“Ok,” tweeted Peterson. ” She might be beautiful.”

I’m not going to post the reactions to Peterson’s tweet, but you can bet that the backlash for it isn’t pretty, so to speak. Peterson attracts a special kind of anger not experienced by others who speak out against mainstream culture.

The thing is, as I detailed in my article about Peterson’s first dust-up, Spiranac is objectively very beautiful. Peterson isn’t at all wrong, but being a blond-haired woman with a healthy body, asymmetrical face, and large…tracts of land is likely to make those who adhere to woke culture angry, or at the very least, angry with the people who find someone like her beautiful.

OUT ON A LIMB: This Democrat Governor Just Proved Why Red Flag Laws Will Be Abused.

The graphic explains the process of red flag laws like this: Jane sees a Facebook friend, Randy, post “photos of guns and cryptic messages.” She then reports him to the police. (Holy escalation!)

The police then petition a judge to “temporarily” remove Randy’s Second Amendment rights. Police provide “evidence” (seemingly a cryptic Facebook post in this scenario) that Randy is a threat to himself or others. The court agrees to temporarily take away Randy’s rights.

Kumbaya. The justice system is perfect. Nothing to see here.

Come on.

* * * * * * * *

Can you imagine how overrun our courts would be if every left-wing Karen could report people for merely owning guns and not liking their government? We have an environment where people are being told speech is violence and where a not insignificant part of the population believes they are justified in “canceling” someone for simply holding differing political views.

What could go wrong?

GET WOKE, GO BROKE: Disney Groomers Get Wrecked: Lightyear Projected to Have Terrible Opening.

Unlike the three other highly anticipated franchises to debut since May — “Doctor Strange” (Disney), “Top Gun: Maverick” (Paramount), and “Jurassic World: Dominion”(Universal) — Pixar’s “Lightyear” (Disney) will be the only one to open under $100 million. Projections are around $75 million, which might be a generous assessment.

How long will it take for Disney to get tired of plummeting stocks and lost revenue? Will they continue to put the LGBTQWTF cult agenda ahead of the bottom line? If history holds, they will continue on this self-destructing path just to send the right virtue signal to an audience that cannot keep Disney in business. That’s what you get when corporations get overtaken by social justice warriors. The message is more important than keeping the doors open or the shareholders happy. They literally don’t care if 90% of you hate it; they’re going to push it on you in spite of that and enjoy doing it.

My favorite review of Lightyear is this one from Robbie Collin of the Daily Telegraph. “The problem with Pixar’s latest feature isn’t just that it’s the animation house’s dullest, dreariest, most spiritually empty to date. It’s that it fails even on its own painstakingly contrived open-goal terms.”

Why is it “spiritually empty?” Because the values behind it: far-leftism, critical race theory, and LGBTQ+ cult programming are all philosophies that are not rooted in truth but in deception. And the audience feels it whether they know why or not. Woke culture is a spiritual vacuum. It is a religion without any moral code other than forced compliance and punishments for those who disagree. There is nothing true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy within it. There is nothing but darkness, fear, force, anger, resentment, and envy inside those philosophies. You will comply or you will regret it, is not the winning message they think it is.

THESE LETTERS OFTEN FAIL TO INTIMIDATE THEIR SUBJECTS, BUT THIS RECIPIENT IS ESPECIALLY UN-INTIMIDATED: Cease and Desist Deez Nuts: In which the Midwest Political Science Association attempts to silence and intimidate an independent journalist. “This is the second C&D letter I have received in my life. The first was from George Soros’ lawyers and it was much, much more competent than this one. This one is a farce. The first thing I notice is how poorly it is written. There are several typos e.g. failing to capitalize ‘Substack.’ The grammar mistakes kill me — this person wrote that in 5 minutes with zero proofreading or due diligence and probably charged like $25,000 for it. Also, this letter repeats “will not be tolerated“ like five times. If this lawyer charged more than $10 for this, he’s a scammer; this is exactly the calibre of a letter that I would expect from someone with this calibre of fashion sense. . . . I will not be cowed by a 3rd rate legal mind acting on behalf of a pair of 2nd rate gender studies scholars.”

Plus: “It basically makes it clear they’re just mad at me for bothering them — ‘Stop Being mean to us on Twitter and Substack or we will sue!’ There is nothing of substance in the letter. One example of how blatantly devoid of substance this letter is is that they accused me of ‘violence.’ The letter says, ‘you went so far as to encourage violence.’ Of course, they do not provide an example of violence; if they had one, they would’ve jumped at the opportunity to brandish it.”

Also, academics now call everything they don’t like “harassment.” Putting up a bunch of blog posts charging academic misconduct isn’t “harassment. If the claims are false it may be libel, but it’s no more “harassment” than if a newspaper ran a series of stories about someone, which nobody would call harassment.”

WE’VE DESCENDED INTO SOME SORT OF BIZARRE HELL-WORLD IN WHICH VAN JONES IS A VOICE OF SANITY: ‘I’ve Never Met A LatinX:’ CNN’s Van Jones Tears Into Left-Wing Rhetoric.

He said the elites use strange rhetoric that does not appeal to working class voters.

“Those people talk funny,” he continued. “I’ve never met a LatinX, I’ve never met a BIPOC … There’s this weird stuff that all these highly educated people say. It’s bizarre, nobody talks that way at the barbershop, the nail salon, the grocery store, the community center. But that’s how we talk now, so that’s weird.”

He added that Democrats are “overpromising” the lower class on economic issues, such as on reparations.

CNN’s John Berman asked about the reaction from national Democrats to Van Jones’ points. He said Democrats need to focus on issues that appeal to black and Hispanic church goers that primarily relate to family and economics.

“I think there is a penalty to pay if you don’t go along with the normal narrative,” Van Jones replied. “The normal narrative has been [that] all black and brown people hate racists, all Republicans are racist, so all black and brown voters are going to vote for Democrats. All of that doesn’t make sense in the real world. All Republicans are not racist and Republican appeals are not just racial, some of them are economic, some of them cultural, and all black and brown folks are not liberals.”

For once, I can say that Van Jones isn’t wrong.
