WHAT DID THESE ENTITLED MORONS THINK WOULD HAPPEN? Twitter fired employees who publicly called out Elon Musk.
VANCE SAYS DON’T BLAME TRUMP, BLAME …: How about “high consultant and ‘list-building fees'”? Writing in the American Conservative, the Ohio Senator-elect zeroes in on a major factor in the failure of the Red Wave to come ashore.
To illustrate, Vance points to the DeSantis and Kemp victories:
“At first blush, Ron DeSantis and Brian Kemp are similar figures: they both won close elections in 2018, and both cruised to reelection in 2022. They are both popular, effective governors from the South. But one won by over 20, and one by 8 (still an impressive margin).
“What explains this? Money. Look at the fundraising totals: Ron DeSantis outraised Charlie Crist about 7:1. Kemp was actually outraised, albeit barely, by Stacey Abrams. Money, of course, is not dispositive—Kemp won convincingly—but it has a major effect.”
ALSO ILLEGAL: ‘Immoral’: Texas A&M professor challenges faculty hiring program that excludes whites and Asians.
There’s a lawsuit, too.
BANKMAN-FRIED’S MONSTROUS COMPANY: Andrew Stiles of the Washington Free Beacon points out that former FTX chief Sam Bankman-Fried has some infamous company among his fellow mega-donors to the Democratic Party.
WHAT HILBERT’S HOTEL TELLS US ABOUT GOD: Hotel? God? Actually, yes, there is a connection, as Drew Covert explains at HillFaith this morning, via the concept of Infinity. It’s a mental exercise that helps illustrate the un-illustratable. And no Drew is not, to my knowledge anyway, working undercover.
WELL, THEY’RE NOT GETTING IT: WATCH: Students want political diversity on campus.
EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY: Household debt soars at fastest pace in 15 years as credit card use surges, Fed report says.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Trump Throws His Hair Into the Ring for 2024. “A frequent refrain from them during the speech was that Trump was more subdued than usual and really sticking to the script. I’ve read that again in posts elsewhere. Whether that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen. Remember, the media will tear him apart no matter how he behaves. Personally, I’ve always been a fan of his extemporaneous, no-filter style. I hope for the sake of entertainment that it’s not going to be too muted.”
AND YET WOMEN AND “FEMINISTS” MOSTLY SUPPORTED THIS: Women are getting silenced as well as erased by trans ideology.
THIS WILL HELP: Federal judge terminates use of Title 42 at the border. “Judge Emmet Sullivan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia vacated Title 42 on Tuesday. Title 42 is used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to immediately expel illegal immigrants at the southern border back to Mexico before they make an asylum claim. One benefit of Title 42 is that it is a tool to help with overcrowding at the border. Title 42 was first implemented at the border during the Trump administration at the strong suggestion by the CDC at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. The policy was meant to mitigate the spread of the virus. It was one of many Trump era policies at the border that was working to keep the number of illegal immigrants down to a somewhat manageable level. Joe Biden tried to do away with Title 42, as he has done with all the other border policies from the previous administration. The Biden border crisis is intentional.”
This just provides more support of Gov. Abbott’s invocation of the Invasion Clause.
HMM: Mormon church announces support for same-sex marriage bill. “The bill would require the federal government to recognize a marriage if it was valid in the state where it was performed and guarantee that valid marriages are given full faith and credit in other states. The senators also indicated the new version of the bill would clarify religious freedom protections, including language confirming that nonprofit religious organizations would not be required to provide any services or facilities for a marriage.”
So just spitballing here, but if a state — let’s say Utah — started recognizing polygamous marriages, every other state would have to do so as well?

JAMES LILEKS ON THE LATEST PAINTING TO BE VANDALIZED:
Let’s see, anything else today? Ah: two more morons defacing a painting. A Klimt this time. I still wonder how they get the paint into the museum. Or why no one does anything. Why, it’s almost as if they allow it to happen, because they don’t want to anger the right people who disapprove of the tactics but approve of the agenda. IO know, I know, nonsense, but:
In a statement, Leopold Museum director Hans-Peter Wipplinger said, “The concerns of climate activists such as those of the ‘Letzte (Last) Generation’ are valid, but attacking artworks is definitely the wrong way to prevent the intended goal of preventing the projected climate collapse.”
This is how you get more of these attacks on a daily basis. Then again:
Museums directors across the globe have fiercely decried protests such as this one, citing the “fragility” of the artworks being targeted. Institutions have also begun initiating heightened security measures in the hopes of stopping these actions before they happen.
Gosh, I wonder what form that might take. I’d post a docent who was good at the quick-draw with a Taser. This, of course, will strilke some as barbarism: violence to stop these earnest, worried advocates for a better world? Really, Tasers? Yes, because bean-bag guns would probably be too bulky to conceal, and would spoil the vibe. But it is not an act of barbarism to tase someone who is attempting to deface a painting. It is an act in favor of civilization.

More (from Steve):
For all the shade NASA receives and sometimes deserves, the overpriced and oft-delayed SLS rocket was a political decision forced on the agency by Congress.
It’s great to finally see a successful SLS flight — this once. Then a less expensive and more modern alternative must replace it. $4 billion-plus per launch is simply not sustainable.
VDH: Will Trump ride off into the sunset, or play the broken hero?
In this moment of wishing the wounded Shane would ride off into the Tetons and leave the more civilized alone, we should remember Trump’s four historical accomplishments that will only grow in light of Biden’s subsequent disastrous four years.
One is partisan. Trump utterly destroyed the 30-year Clinton grifting and quid pro quo machine in general, and Hillary Clinton’s endless and often toxic political career in particular. It was characterized by the despicable Uranium One sale, the foreign shake-down contributions to the Clinton Foundation, her destruction of subpoenaed emails and devices, and her blatant violation of State Department rules of personal communications.
Clinton’s failing campaign and eventual collapse in 2016 was so shocking that it all but crushed her very psyche — to the point that she had funded a foreign ex-spy to systematically and illegally destroy her political opponent. She ended up denying the very legitimacy of the election she lost. Then she topped that off by urging Joe Biden not to accept the 2020 verdict should he lose the popular vote. Hillary Clinton is physically, psychologically, and spiritually spent — and never recovered from her ill-fated collisions with Donald Trump.
Two, Donald Trump recalibrated the Republican Party to become more populist and nationalist. Previously it was shrinking and offered the Left an easy stereotype of a small club of aristocratic white corporate elites. Yet Trumpism did not renounce prior Republicanism, at least not entirely. Rather, Trump sought to save it by recalibrating the party. He demanded toughness with China, attacked illegal immigration, addressed the crisis of the deindustrialized American interior and adopted a Jacksonian foreign policy. That was all in addition to embracing Republican policies of low-taxes, small-government, deregulation, traditional values, and originalist justices.
Three, Trump’s actual four years of governance were characterized, before the advent of the pandemic, by robust growth, low inflation, energy independence, low unemployment, a rebuilding of the US military, eventual curbing of illegal immigration, the Abraham Accords, and forcing NATO to spend far more on defense. Trump saved the Supreme Court and lower federal courts for a generation.
