KEVIN DOWNEY JR REPORTS ON HIS HOMESTATE: Battleground Michigan: Why the Great Lake State Can’t Afford a Kamala Win. “Arabs and Muslims make up roughly 2% of Michigan’s population. How they vote in November depends entirely on whether Kamala Harris will stand with Israel or join the Jew-haters club.”

That’s a done deal, isn’t it?

FAIL, BRITANNIA: The Disunited Kingdom.

Historically, democratically-elected governments have been able to weather unpopularity in a way that dictatorships can’t. But mass migration to Britain has not occurred democratically. For nearly thirty years, the electorate has consistently voted for parties pledged to reduce immigration, and just as consistently, immigration has continued to increase: in 2022-2023 immigration surpassed the one million mark.

Britain is now in the midst of a demographic-cultural transformation unknown at least since the Early Medieval period. Meanwhile, the British economy has stagnated (Britain’s GDP per capita is now lower than it was in 2008), Britain has the highest tax burden on record, public services are dysfunctional, crime is rising, and societal breakdown is accelerating.

How does this look to an average white working-class voter in Southport? You’ve watched helplessly from the sidelines as your country transformed from a functioning First World democracy into a semi-failed post-colonial state. You can’t help but notice that this decline overlaps precisely with the arrival of millions of men and women from strange alien cultures, not least because the town where you were born and grew up looks less familiar every day. You see these same newcomers encouraged by liberal elites to lean in to their ethnic and religious identities and grievances and leverage them for maximum tribal gain. Meanwhile, you, a member of the white residuum, are told with no sense of contradiction that any assertion of specifically ethnic interests on your part is beyond the pale of civilized discourse and just a few goosesteps from Hitler.

Increasingly alienated from the government media, you begin to obtain your news from online sites, which feature troubling stories and footage which the traditional media outlets choose to ignore. You see white-on-black crime provoke moral panic and solemn national debate, yet black-on-white crime, like acts of Islamist terrorism, is rationalized away as the aberrant psychopathology of disturbed individuals. You vote against all this, repeatedly. Yet your vote is ignored by both great parties of state, Labour and Conservative. Finally, when with all other forms of redress exhausted, you take to the streets and scream your grievances in the ‘language of the unheard’, no attempt is made to engage with your community or otherwise understand your sorrows, in conspicuous contrast to the response of the state to the BLM protests a few years ago.

Plus: “Multiculturalism in this sense may be said to have finally worked in spite of itself: Whites are becoming as race-conscious as everyone else, even though this consciousness, we are instructed to understand, is illegitimate by default.”

A similar process brought us Donald Trump and a four-year respite from the American Left’s similar attempt at remaking America.

In three months, we have one more chance at turning things back around. For Britain it might already be too late — they gave up their guns, and the ruling class is ruling accordingly.

PUNCH BACK TWICE AS HARD:

Between this and the Google decision, it’s been a bad week for Big Tech monopolists.

DONALD TRUMP: “Everything woke turns to s***.”

Kamala Harris: “We have to stay woke. Like everybody needs to be woke.”

I’m not sure which is worse — Harris’s message or her constant laughter at her unfunny remarks

THE SCIENCE IS NEVER SETTLED: Has Webb broken cosmology? JWST is challenging our theories of the Universe and finding things that shouldn’t exist.

JWST’s intriguing deep-field observations of faint light from the early, distant Universe reveal stars and galaxies that seem to be much larger than expected.

The CEERS (Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science) survey, led by Prof Steven Finkelstein of the University of Texas at Austin, used JWST’s NIRCam instrument to look back as far as the epoch of reionisation, just after the so-called dark ages of cosmic evolution, to study the structure of galaxies in the very early Universe.

It found more of them than predicted, and they appear bigger and brighter than expected.

According to our best models of how the infant Universe developed, they aren’t supposed to be there so early or look as they do.

Some of the first survey results have even indicated there are mature-looking disc galaxies reminiscent of our own Milky Way present as early as 10 billion years ago.

We were expecting a more chaotic picture, with predominantly irregular galactic structures interacting violently.

It’s time to update those models.

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): Fred Hoyle, call your office?

FLASHBACK:

The country is in the very best of hands.

FASTER? PLEASE! ‘We just have to build it’: Why Concorde’s successor is eyeing supersonic flights to America.

The founder of the company seeking to build a successor to Concorde has hit back at “flight shaming” activists who are demanding an end to mass air travel.

Blake Scholl, of Boom Supersonic, said that the demand to cut back on flights for the sake of limiting CO2 emissions is “depressing”.

He said: “There are some people who look at this and say, ‘Well, I guess we should all have less things. We should use less energy, we should go to fewer places.’ There’s been a lot of virtue-signalling and it’s very depressing.

“I believe in a future of abundance. I believe the north star is human flourishing and that we should build a future in which more people can go to more places more often.”

Mr Scholl, who spoke at last month’s Farnborough International Airshow where Boom unveiled the cockpit for its proposed 64-seat, 1,300mph Overture jet accompanied by four former Concorde pilots, argues that so-called flight shamers are ultimately seeking to stifle human progress.

It isn’t quite “90 minutes from New York to Paris” but 1,300 mph is impressive.

HEALTH: Ecstasy Drug Trials Missed Suicidal Thoughts of Subjects.

Studies being used to decide whether the U.S. should authorize an ecstasy-based drug for traumatized patients missed serious side effects and were marked by bias.

The Food and Drug Administration is expected within days to decide whether to approve the drug, known as MDMA, for treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. Approval would be a milestone in decades of efforts to decriminalize the use of psychedelics.

Three people who were subjects in the studies told The Wall Street Journal that their thoughts of suicide worsened during or after testing, but their downward slides weren’t captured in trial data and therefore not reflected in the final results.

The study subjects said they felt pressure to report positive outcomes, because that would lead to a history-making drug approval. They also said they could tell they had taken ecstasy during the studies, though gold-standard drug trials are supposed to mask whether a subject got the drug candidate or a placebo.

“I wanted the miracle cure,” said Sarah McNamee, one of the subjects. She said the therapists conducting the trial did, too. “My therapists made it really clear that they really really believed in this thing.”

Lykos Therapeutics, the company sponsoring the studies, recruited researchers conducting the testing from the ranks of therapists who had given ecstasy illicitly and advocated for the drug’s use, according to people familiar with the matter.

Earlier studies had shown some promise for treating PTSD with MDMA so it’s a shame it didn’t pan out — and even worse, if this report is correct, that Lykos skewed their own study to death.

THAT’S… COMFORTING?

Even the UN’s in-house investigation could only clear half of its aid workers of actual terrorism.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: NASDAQ Gives a Preview of ‘Kamalanomics.’ “Despite the honeymoon hoopla surrounding Kamala Harris’s anointing, the real world knows that having her in the White House will be such a disaster that even the staunchest conservative would soon be reminiscing about the relatively halcyon days of the Biden administration. Swapping one Democrat for another never makes anything better.”

HMM: What Is Really Going on in Iran While Israel Braces for Retaliation?

Compared to previous incidents, “Iran and Hezbollah are more willing today to take the risk of escalation,” Zimmt said, “even if it means dragging themselves into a full scale confrontation.”

Still, he said, Iran’s leadership is torn on what the response should be. He compares the more pragmatic approach that doesn’t necessarily oppose military retaliation against Israel but doesn’t want to cause a full-scale regional war, with the hardliners, represented by the Revolutionary Guards, calling for a severe and direct attack.

“My sense is that right now, mainly due to the fact that [Iranian President Masoud] Pezeshkian is new, inexperienced and has not yet come up with this new administration, the position of the power of the more hardliners in Iran, seems to be higher, and therefore, I think we will see that in Iran’s upcoming retaliation against Israel.”

I guess we’ll have an answer all too soon.

EXCLUSIVE: Rasmussen Reports Talks 2024 Polling. “To get a response to these accusations and to get some answers about the state of the race, I spoke with Mark Mitchell, the head pollster at Rasmussen Reports. We delved into the current political climate and polling dynamics surrounding Harris and Trump.”

COLONIALISM, STRAIGHT UP: Progressive Dems In Michigan Tell Undercover Journo They Were ‘Ballot Harvested’ Out Of Office By Muslim Voter Fraud Network.

More: “Hamtramck’s first woman mayor told our journalist she is ‘absolutely positive’ she was ballot harvested out of office. Karen Majewski lost her election bid in 2021 after serving the city of Hamtramck for 18 years, first as a city council president, and then 16 years as mayor. A true Hamtramck insider, Majewski shepherded her city through major ethnic, racial, and religious shifts only to see the town’s progressive open door policy result in her ouster.”

There’s a lesson there but I suspect Majewski failed to learn it.

THE LONG MARCH THROUGH THE INSTITUTIONS: How Are So Many Democrat Leaders The Spawn Of Marxist Professors? “The engineered ascension of red diaper baby Kamala Harris to be the Democratic Party’s nominee for President of the United States of America without a single vote being cast in her favor is no accident.”
