GWENDOLYN SIMS: ‘DOG’ Is Much More Than a Buddy Road Trip Movie. “‘Sir, are you asking me to fly a damn dog to Arizona?’ asks medically retired Army Ranger Jackson Briggs (Channing Tatum). ‘No, I’m asking you to drive a Ranger to Arizona,’ Captain Jones (Luke Forbes) replies. ‘She refuses to fly.’ And so begins DOG, a road trip movie about a dog that ends up being about so much more.“
BIDEN: ‘Every indication’ is that Russia will attack Ukraine ‘within the next several days.’
But: Poles want 1,000 U.S. anti-tank missiles for Ukraine. “The Polish military made an urgent request for 1,000 U.S. Army Javelin anti-tank missiles earlier this month, but Pentagon red tape is delaying efforts to get large numbers of the missiles to the Ukrainian military.”
Biden is awfully unprepared for a war he’s so certain is coming.
ROBERT SPENCER: Trudeau Isn’t Hitler, But…
The Enabling Act allowed Hitler to enact laws without Reichstag approval and with the same dispatch that Trudeau once admired about Communist China: “Laws enacted by the Reich government shall be issued by the Chancellor and announced in the Reich Gazette. They shall take effect on the day following the announcement, unless they prescribe a different date.”
Like Canada’s Emergencies Act, all this was supposed to be only temporary; the Enabling Act was set to expire on April 1, 1937. Once Hitler had consolidated his power and destroyed all the opposition parties, however, there was no question that the Enabling Act would continue: it was renewed by Hitler’s rubber-stamp National Socialist Reichstag in 1937 and 1939, and by decree in 1941 and 1943, the latter time without a time limit.
Funny, Trudeau always reminded me more of a certain Caribbean dictator.
OBJECTIVELY PRO-ASSASSINATION: Dem Heavyweights Back BLM Bail Fund That Freed Would-Be Assassin. “The bail fund, for example, has an active page on ActBlue, the political fundraising platform used universally by Democratic candidates across the country. Justice Democrats—a far-left PAC that supports Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.)—also actively fundraises for the bail group on the platform. Contributions sent to the Louisville Community Bail Fund through ActBlue are routed through the Tides Center, a liberal dark money behemoth that has received millions of dollars from Soros. Tides gave nearly $740,000 to the bail fund in 2020, tax filings show.”
KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: The Limbaugh Legacy Is Still the Heart of Conservative Media. “Even after Rush had become very successful, it still would have been impossible to envision the explosion in conservative media that we’re experiencing now. Heck, this was hard to see even back in 2009. However, where we are at now is all directly traceable back to what Rush Limbaugh willed conservative political talk radio to become.”
THE PROCESS IS THE PUNISHMENT, RIGHT UP UNTIL THE NASTY PUNISHMENT IS THE PUNISHMENT:Elon Musk tells a judge the SEC’s ‘endless’ investigation is stifling his free speech.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, one of the wealthiest men in the world (depending on the day) says the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has tried to “chill” his free speech in an “unrelenting investigation” of him and the automaker he co-founded. The SEC, Musk’s attorneys allege, “has broken its promises” in a 2018 settlement over a tweet Musk posted saying he had funding secured to take Tesla private.
“Worst of all, the SEC seems to be targeting Mr. Musk and Tesla for unrelenting investigation largely because Mr. Musk remains an outspoken critic of the government,” the letter states, “the SEC’s outsized efforts seem calculated to chill his exercise of First Amendment rights rather than to enforce generally applicable laws in evenhanded fashion.”
Twenty years ago I would have dismissed Musk’s complaint as that of a crank.
These days, using whatever means are available to silence critics is just how our federal government conducts itself.

DISPATCHES FROM THE BLUE ZONES: Fewer than 50 Seattle police officers working first watch for the whole city.
Multiple sources in the Seattle Police Department told The Post Millennial that sufficient staffing levels for a city as populated as Seattle should have no less than 250 officers on each watch.
However, according to those same sources, there were only 47 patrol officers working first watch on Friday, putting the department operating at only 18 percent capacity.
…
To paint a better picture of the dire situation, as the staffing crisis got worse during the “Defund the Police” movement, the department pulled police personnel from other departments–like detectives and traffic officers–and put them back on patrol. This means that staffing numbers are exceedingly low even after the department has utilized all available resources.

CHANGE? Push to break-up Milwaukee Public Schools begins in Wisconsin Legislature.
Something has to change is the basic argument from Republican lawmakers and the groups supporting the plan to break-up Milwaukee Public Schools.
The Assembly’s Committee on Education heard from a long list of people on Wednesday who either support or condemn the plan.
“As the chief policymakers, we are responsible for public education,” Sen. Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, told the committee.
Darling’s plan would split MPS into anywhere from four to eight separate school districts, and expand school choice throughout the city.
She said MPS is too large, and not able to effectively educate its kids.
CJ Szafir with the Institute for Reforming Government said the test scores and grades tell the story.
“Roughly two out of every three fourth graders in Wisconsin are not proficient in reading. Wisconsin ranks last in the country for reading proficiency for black students,” Szafir told lawmakers. “Since 1992, Wisconsin is one of only six states to see a significant drop in reading test scores.”
Democrat-run, union-organized, big-city public education is inherently racist.
ANOTHER BIG BIDEN FAIL: Where’s That Pandemic Testing Board He Promised Us? “The Pandemic Testing Board was supposed to be a big deal, so big that here we are, more than a year later, and Pro Publica had to remind me that the Pandemic Testing Board was supposed to be a thing at all.”

TIRED OF HITCHING RIDES: Astronauts in Europe ask for their own independent crew spacecraft.
European astronauts have been flying into space since 1978, when a German named Sigmund Jähn climbed aboard a Soyuz spacecraft and traveled to the Salyut 6 space station for a week.
Over the next four decades, dozens of European astronauts would fly on vehicles operated by Russia and the United States to various space stations. Most recently, French and German astronauts have launched to the International Space Station aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon vehicle.
These astronauts, Thomas Pesquet and Matthias Maurer, both praised the Crew Dragon vehicle’s smooth spaceflight and the reusable nature of the rocket. They had no complaints. But as a new “manifesto” makes clear, European astronauts would like to have their own independent means of reaching the International Space Station.
Released publicly on Wednesday, the document says that European leaders must soon decide whether the continent will accelerate its efforts to remain in the “leading ranks” of spacefaring nations.
More lift is always welcome, but right now there isn’t a single European company or agency with a solid plan to compete with SpaceX circa 2017.
