HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: Students for Pogroms in Israel: By excusing murder and kidnapping, activist groups have already changed campus politics in America.
Across America, millions of people with wildly diverse opinions on the longstanding conflict between Israel and Palestine denounced those atrocities, because it is always wrong to deliberately target and slaughter civilians and it is always wrong to abduct, let alone kill, children.
I naively believed that those were near-consensus beliefs on college campuses––that whether one sided with Israelis or Palestinians in the long and heartrending conflict between them, almost everyone could agree that certain actions were evil regardless of who took them. Then this week, on dozens of campuses, student groups reacted to the attacks by attempting to absolve the murderers and child abductors of all responsibility.
To the left, no act is too monstrous if it’s performed by a designated victim group. And our campuses are infested with this toxic stuff.
THE ENEMY WITHIN: Intimidation: Pro-Palestinian U Mass students surround Fox videographer. “The aggressive exchange comes as pro-Palestine groups across America sparked outrage at their support for Hamas’ brutal attack that killed 1,300 Israelis, with tempers flaring from the other side as Israel launches retaliatory sieges on the Gaza Strip.”

RE: Terrorism in Israel
On Saturday, October 7, Hamas terrorists perpetrated the greatest mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. The massacre took the lives of over 1300 peaceful civilians of many nationalities, including at least 20 Americans. Many children were among the dead. Adjusted for population that would be about 45,000 deaths in the U.S., or fifteen 9/11 attacks in a single day.
Celebrants at a music festival were gunned down without mercy. Homes were invaded by gunmen, who used explosives to ensure there would be no survivors. There was no military purpose to the attack, only the goal of murdering as many Israeli civilians as possible. The terrorists posted videos of their barbarous acts. Over 100 hostages were kidnapped and taken back to Gaza, evidently including two women from Evanston.
These events have affected many students and faculty, of all faiths and backgrounds, in the Northwestern Pritzker community. In Israel, 23 students and community members from our partner Tel Aviv University are among the murdered.
As faculty members dedicated to the rule of law, we choose to make clear that we unequivocally condemn Hamas’s wanton acts of terrorism, which have made the establishment of a just peace, recognizing the human rights of every community, all the more difficult to achieve.
Some have claimed that the Hamas atrocities must be blamed on Israel. What Hamas perpetrated was unspeakably evil. It is dehumanizing to blame the murders on the victims. We absolutely reject such acceptance, and near-endorsement, of terrorism.

TEENS HELD DOWN INTO IMMATURITY: “Our thesis is that a primary cause of the rise in mental disorders is a decline over decades in opportunities for children and teens to play, roam, and engage in other activities independent of direct oversight and control by adults.”
Teens are treated this way for the convenience and self-importance of adults, who pretend to be helping them.
EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY, EV EDITION: Ford Considers Cutting Shift at F-150 Lightning Pickup Plant, UAW Memo Says.
The official, who leads the union’s local chapter that represents workers at the truck factory, said in a letter dated Tuesday that the automaker was considering canceling the shift and indicated that it was looking to build more gas-engine trucks instead.
“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that our sales for the Lightning have tanked,” the union leader wrote in the memo, which was viewed by The Wall Street Journal. . . . Sales of the EV pickup, which initially had long wait lists, have sputtered in recent months. Ford recorded a 45.8% drop in U.S. vehicle sales of its electric truck in the third quarter.
Government mandates, and even government subsidies, ultimately can’t make people want a product they don’t want.
I SAT IN ONE AT THE DEALER AND IT WAS NICE: 2023 Lexus LX 600 Review – The Chauffeured Land Crusher. “This should prove to be an excellent off-road vehicle should you choose, as it is based upon the Land Cruiser platform used around the world. No, this isn’t the smaller retro-looking Land Cruiser we will be getting at some point next year, but rather a replacement for the full-sized Land Cruiser that was discontinued here.”
I doubt many of them will be taken off road, especially at this price. But it gets worse.
When I saw it, which was about a year ago, my local dealer was asking $50,000 over the already high sticker price due to short supplies. I wasn’t interested in one anyway, but that was just insulting.
It was comfy though.
SHOCKER: Boeing’s 1st Starliner flight with astronauts delayed to April 2024. “The first crewed test flight of Starliner has been pushed back an additional month, to no earlier than mid-April 2024, NASA officials said in a release on Thursday (Oct. 12). No reason was given for the change. The target date for the first operational flight of the Boeing spaceship has also been delayed, to early 2025 from summer 2024, agency officials added.”
THE ACCIDENTAL MONOPOLY: How SpaceX became (just about) the only game in town.
In no small part because the competition has mostly been so lame. I exclude Rocket Lab from that. Despite their recent launch failure, they’ve had an excellent record. They’re sort of SpaceX’s cute little brother.
IN THE WORDS OF OUR MOST DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE PRESIDENT, GET IN THEIR FACE, PUNCH BACK TWICE AS HARD: Violence, threats, tears: Israeli supporters face aggressive pro-Palestinian campus protests nationwide.
The fact that universities are hotbeds of this bigotry and antisemitic hatred should raise serious questions about why taxpayers are subsidizing higher education, which increasingly looks like a toxic industry.
AT HARVARD, FREE SPEECH IS MET WITH VIOLENCE: Brick hurled at ‘doxxing truck’ at Harvard that named students who blamed Israel for Hamas attacks.
It’s not really doxxing to publicize the names of people who publicly signed a public statement, you know. But of course the response is violent. This is who these people are, this is what they do. And it’s what they’ve been trained to do by places like Harvard.
