21ST CENTURY WARFARE: Ukraine Strikes Russian Long-Range Strategic Bomber.
Ukrainian drones have hit a remote Russian airbase in the Arctic, destroying at least one strategic bomber, it has been reported.
Ukrainian media said the attack on the Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region damaged a Tupolev Tu-22M3 long-range supersonic bomber-missile carrier, which can fire AS-4 heavy anti-ship or Kh-22 cruise missiles.
Ukraine had downed a Tu-22M3 for the first time on April 19 according to Ukraine’s air force, with the aircraft crashing in Russia’s Stavropol Krai just after Russia launched an attack on Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region.
Plus: “Olenya airfield is more than 1,200 miles from the Ukrainian border.”

DECOUPLING: Five states order employee pension funds to divest from China amid increasing tension.
Indiana, Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas are leading the calls to divest from the economic powerhouse, over fears that U.S. assets could be frozen if conflict breaks out between China and Taiwan, Politico reported Friday. But other states have passed laws that force divestment from other hostile countries in the past.
“This is a great issue for folks to put politics aside, circle the wagons and say ‘We’re going to stand against the Communist Chinese Party and all the threats they pose to our nation,’” Indiana state Sen. Chris Garten, who co-sponsored his state’s bill, told the outlet.
Indiana passed its law that prohibits the state from investing in Chinese entities last year, and state pension funds have started the divesting process. Missouri also passed its law last year, and the primary U.S. federal pension fund, the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board, announced it would stop investing in China last November.
Oklahoma GOP Gov. Kevin Stitt ordered state agencies to prepare divestment plans from China last month, claiming he wanted to be prepared in case the situation escalates. He also announced other measures that would protect state tax dollars from “Chinese aggression.”
From Beijing’s corruption, too.

WOEING: Retired Astronaut Admits Boeing’s Starliner Has Trapped Crew in Space.
With two NASA astronauts still stranded in space for weeks, officials at the space agency have insisted that the troubled Boeing Starliner, plagued with technical issues, can take the two explorers back to Earth.
So, why haven’t they already?
An unnamed retired astronaut tells The Atlantic the obvious truth that NASA has been dancing around since the beginning of this space boondoggle: it’s just too risky right now.
“Of course they don’t feel comfortable putting them in the vehicle,” the retired astronaut told the magazine, referring to the Starliner, which transported the astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) back in June and is meant to return them back home. “Otherwise they would have put them in it already.”
Maybe it’s time for NASA and Boeing to take their lumps and abandon Starliner.
