JIM TREACHER: Democrat Mayor Arrested for Child Porn Is Pals with Mayor Pete: So he’s also a Pete-ophile. “Yesterday Patrick Wojahn, the mayor of College Park, Maryland, was arrested on 56 counts of child pornography. And you know how you can tell he’s a Democrat? Because his political affiliation isn’t in any of the headlines. Hell, it isn’t even in most of the ‘news’ stories. The journos all want this to go away very quickly. They’ll report that it happened, but they don’t want to tell you how it reflects on their team. And it certainly doesn’t reflect well.”

Plus: “Libs love guilt by association, right up until one of their own gets in trouble. A lot of people want Buttigieg to run for president, so they’ll make any excuse they can, no matter how ridiculous. What else are they supposed to do, tell the truth?”

DEMOGRAPHICS IS DESTINY: China has lost 41 million workers — almost the size of Germany’s workforce — in 3 years. “The data stems from a rapid rise in the number of people retiring, likely raising pressure on Beijing to accelerate unpopular plans to raise official retirement ages The drop reflects factors such as higher youth unemployment due to the pandemic as well as a shrinking number of people in the ‘classic age group of the working-age population,’ said Stuart Gietel-Basten, a demographer at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.”

That last group is the one that matters. Young people can be enticed to work once they get hungry enough and the retirement age can always be raised to keep older workers in the workforce longer.

But when the cohort of working-age people is shrinking, as it is in China, you’ve got a real problem.

DON SURBER: Tough Libel Laws Will Save Journalism. “American trust in the media is at an all-time low. Stunts like this show the trust is still too high. Media lies did this.”

I have thoughts on libel reform here.

LEE SMITH: Biden Sets Israel on Fire.

Biden’s State Department is now directly funding local activists organizing the protests. By publicly putting its prestige and money behind the coalition that lost the latest Israeli election, Washington is openly advertising its desire to bring down Netanyahu.

Maybe it seems strange that the current U.S. presidential administration considers Israel’s government hostile to American interests. Why, it was just months ago that Biden aides mediated an arrangement between Israel and Lebanon over their maritime border. Even practical, hard-minded Israeli officials said the deal enhanced security and may even lead to more positive steps with the Beirut government. Surely that’s indicative of good relations between Washington and Jerusalem, no?

In reality, the maritime agreement was just the latest in a series of initiatives to realign U.S. interests with those of the terror regime in Tehran while alternately sweet-talking and threatening traditional U.S. allies like Israel and Saudi Arabia to fall into line. Accordingly, an Israeli prime minister like the one Bibi replaced, Yair Lapid, who wanted to ingratiate himself with the Obama-Biden faction by integrating Israel into its pro-Iran security architecture that augments Hezbollah’s power, was indeed a friend of the current White House.

Netanyahu, however, is a problem for an administration still determined to reenter the nuclear deal from which Donald Trump withdrew.

Plus: “The anti-Bibi coup looks and feels like the anti-Trump operation because it’s run by the same people—the Obama operatives who hunted Trump and now run the Biden White House.”

This White House seems likely to set the whole region on fire, not just Israel.

We sure could use more mean tweets and Middle East peace right about now.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Fairfax County Democrat’s bizarre rant about Battle of Iwo Jima should be rebuked.

Abrar Omeish, a Democrat and Fairfax County School Board member, made the inflammatory remarks at a meeting while discussing some of the well-known historical events that occurred in February. Many people were upset over her description of Iwo Jima and her failure to specify as to what she meant by “evil.”

“There’s also a lot of history in February. A number of community members reached out to me just a few days ago. It was Japanese Day of Remembrance,” Omeish said. “Just something for us to reflect on as we learn our history and think about it. The days when Iwo Jima unfortunately happened and set a record for really what I hate to say human evil is capable of. So that’s something just to remember, especially actually in advance of Holocaust Remembrance Day.”. . .

Omeish tried to explain her comments, but she only made things worse. She criticized the Japanese for their brutal tactics but then attempted to equate their ruthlessness with Japanese internment camps in the United States in the 1940s. Yet much of what she claimed was historically inaccurate.

You don’t have to be mind-numbingly stupid and appallingly ignorant to be woke, but it helps.

Who Is Willing (Alysha Forrest Book 2) by [M.C.A. Hogarth]

Alysha Forrest is looking forward to her assignment as the Songlance’s newest lieutenant, particularly when it gets her placed as the liaison to the ship’s water environment crewmembers. Interfacing with the mermaid-like Naysha and the alien Platies who serve as the ship’s navigators is an exhilarating experience, and all the other officers on the crew are eager to welcome her into the fold… all of them, except one.

Mike Beringwaite, the overbearing ensign who ruined their leadership retreat years earlier, has somehow made lieutenant too. When a routine problem in the water environment throws them together, Alysha has to decide how willing she is to forgive him for what he did, whether she can work with him again, and most importantly, if she can trust him–with her life.

The disaster at the leadership retreat is nothing to the one they have to handle now. If they can….
