IT’S THEIR INSURRECTION AND THEY’RE SPURRING IT ON: Washington Post profiles woman protesting outside the homes of Supreme Court Justices. “I seriously doubt if the protests were being held at Kagan’s house that the Washington Post would have published such a sympathetic profile of the protesters.”

This should make the prosecutions easier, anyway.

And this is just more evidence that all the tut-tutting about January 6 is just projection.

UPDATE: Out: “Ruth Sent Us.” In: “Ruth Paid Us.” Stipends available!

I wonder who’s funding this?

THE EVOLUTION OF MODERN HUMAN BRAIN SHAPE. “Our data show that, 300,000 years ago, brain size in early H. sapiens already fell within the range of present-day humans. Brain shape, however, evolved gradually within the H. sapiens lineage, reaching present-day human variation between about 100,000 and 35,000 years ago. This process started only after other key features of craniofacial morphology appeared modern and paralleled the emergence of behavioral modernity as seen from the archeological record. Our findings are consistent with important genetic changes affecting early brain development within the H. sapiens lineage since the origin of the species and before the transition to the Later Stone Age and the Upper Paleolithic that mark full behavioral modernity.”

MORE DEBUNKING OF ABSURD BIDEN ECONOMIC CLAIMS: Libertarian economist Dan Mitchell takes apart the Biden claim that his administration has cut the federal deficit by $350 billion. Mitchell should be on the short list for Chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers in 2025.

ABOUT THAT RESURRECTION-AS-LEGEND CLAIM: It may be the most often heard objection — The resurrection of Jesus was pure legend, evolving over time from rumor to exaggeration to legend and not becoming “official” until 325 AD at the Council of Nicea.

But, as I show with two exhibits this morning on HillFaith, the timeline after the crucifixion shows the resurrection claim to be fresh and current literally within weeks of the event, so it is imminently reasonable to conclude that whatever else it may or may not have been, the resurrection was not a legend that required centuries to develop.

THE WHOLE POINT OF A “BIAS RESPONSE TEAM” IS TO CHILL SPEECH. Bias response team violated students’ 1A rights, federal court unanimously rules. “Judge Kevin Newsom noted in the opinion that the bias response team ‘objectively chills speech because its operation would cause a reasonable student to fear expressing potentially unpopular beliefs’ due to the university’s harassment policies.”

PARTY OF YOUTH:

THE ARMY FITNESS TEST IS SO EASY THAT I COULD PASS IT: Cotton Slams Biden’s ‘Pathetic’ Army Fitness Standards. And I’m not 18.

My nephew, who joined the Army two years ago, spent 6 months lifting weights and running with a heavy pack, and said the physical stuff was the easiest part of boot camp and that he hadn’t needed to do all that work ahead of time. But he wasn’t sorry he did.

UPDATE: In response to questions in the comments, here’s an earlier post with more details. And here’s a story showing the test and what it takes to pass. I think I could get a top score on everything but the two-mile run, even in the 17-21 age range, and I’m a middle-aged law professor of no particular athletic gifts. I could pass the run, but not at the top, as I don’t normally run, aside from some interval sprints sometimes. 340lbs on the hex bar deadlift is literally a warmup weight for me, and it’s a 100 score for someone 17-21.

And note this: “That minimum run time for male soldiers is a minute longer than the previous version of the ACFT that the Army previously trialed, following data showing the run is by far the most failed event for both genders.”
