WHAT CAN’T GO ON GOES ON, TILL IT DOESN’T: “Courage to change what must be altered”.

And here is the quote from Churchill Peter uses.  This one goes out to all the doomers out there. Tattoo it on your forehead for ease of remembering:

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Courage is rightly considered the foremost of the virtues, for upon it all others depend.

SO MUCH THIS:  I’m not “Brave”;You’re Just a P—y.

Yes, I know, our embeds can’t do this.  And we need our embeds, as things get ugly. And passive, underhanded resistance is still resistance.

But seriously. Not all of you are embeds. Not all of you can reasonably expect to lose job, career or marriages.  A lot of you just want to “be nice.”
You can die of being nice, you know?

What did you do when the Junta occupied the US?  Because I at the very least didn’t shut up.

What did you do?

YOU WANT TO BE JUST CRAZY ENOUGH, BUT NO MORE:

Like you can be Trump or Nixon, but not Putin or Loki.

And you really don’t want to be a Chamberlain or a Biden:

Or, you know, anyone who depends on them for your safety.

REALCLEARINVESTIGATIONS: The Curious Case of Stefan Halper, Longtime ‘Zelig’ of American Scandals Who ‘Crossfired’ Trump.

Halper’s undercover operation, which was documented in a report by the Department of Justice’s Inspector General, would prove largely a bust. Transcripts between Halper and Trump campaign officials would show that none of them took the bait, or appeared to otherwise be soliciting Russia’s help in the 2016 presidential campaign

Even now, it might seem odd that the FBI made Halper, then a septuagenarian Cambridge University professor, a linchpin of its top-secret counterintelligence probe codenamed “Crossfire Hurricane.” But a closer look at Halper’s life and work makes that decision seem inevitable. Stefan Halper is the Zelig of modern American political scandal – a chameleon-like, unusually ubiquitous figure who keeps appearing when mischief is afoot.

The former son-in-law of a top CIA official, Halper cut his teeth in the Nixon White House during Watergate. The New York Times identified him as the Reagan campaign’s point man in an alleged effort to spy on President Jimmy Carter, and he was later chairman of a bank that helped provide money to surreptitiously fund Nicaragua’s pro-American contra rebels during the 1980s. In the run-up to his subterfuge in the Trump-Russia caper, Halper was paid more than $1 million by a Pentagon office that produced work deemed of such little value that Sen. Charles Grassley recently identified it as a prime example of the government’s “systemic failure to manage and oversee” spending.

Given the secret nature of his work, it is not surprising that Halper’s exact role in these scandals is still debated by insiders and historians. An examination of long-ignored records by RealClearInvestigations, however, shows that Halper has added to the mystery by appearing to consistently misrepresent his background and experience on resumes. There is, for example, no public evidence for his claim, on a resume he submitted to the Ford White House, that he was class president at Stanford University in 1967, or a Fulbright scholar. Nor is there any for the claim on another resume that he held the prestigious position in the Ford administration listed.

Halper declined to speak with RCI when asked for an interview in person at his Virginia home. He also declined to respond to a letter from this reporter subsequently sent to his attorney, inquiring about discrepancies documented in this article.

WELL, SHE’S NOT WRONG: I’m Not ‘Brave’; You’re Just a P—y.

In the DMs, people whom I know socially or professionally — people from journalism, from politics, from medicine, from science (most of them upper-middle- class ‘men in suits’) — say something like: “Naomi, I really respect your actions right now. I totally agree with what you are saying. But of course I can’t say anything publicly because [fill in the nonsensical, craven reason].”

The nonsensical and craven reason that follows this shameful message is typically something along the lines of, “My boss will get mad at me” or “My professional peers will have a problem with my speaking up.” It’s never even, “I have bills to pay.”

Your boss will get mad at you, O you who DM?

Do you understand what is at stake? If you continue to comply and collude with what has become a tyrannical oligopoly, your kids will live as slaves and as serfs forever.

The DMs insist that I am “brave.” But I am not “brave”; you’re just a p—-y.

People value the opinion of those around them too much.

POE’S LAW MEANT I HAD TO READ THIS TWICE: Biden begs Texas to secede.

In a phone call late Tuesday afternoon, according to White House press agent Jen Psaki, President Biden explained to Gov. Abbott that because he has promised the Green left wing of his party never to allow increased oil production in the United States, his administration has been forced to beg Iran and Venezuela to sell oil to US refiners.

“Furthermore,” said Ms. Psaki, “even Democrat members of Congress were willing to force through a vote mandating a ban on importing oil from Russia over the president’s objections.”

Unable to authorize increasing domestic oil production, and finding no foreign producer would sell (or sell more) oil to America, the president had no choice but to create a new foreign producer who would provide additional oil capacity to American who are shocked by record-breaking pump prices.

Hence the call to Texas Gov. Abbott, begging him to energize secessionists in Texas to re-establish the independent Republic of Texas and begin immediately to increase Texan oil production and sell directly to American refiners.

“Then,” explained Ms. Psaki, “the president can truthfully say that he held the line on crushing America’s oil industry while filling the near-term needs with foreign sourcing. It’s win-win for everyone!”

I mean, it’s plausible.

TRUNALIMUNUMAPRZURE! These Congressman Did Not Deserve What Joe Biden Said About Them During His Texas Visit.

President Joe Biden has arrived in North Texas as he plans to talk with veterans and their caregivers and push for more help for members of the military who face health problems after exposure to burn pits.

Biden and Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough will meet with veterans and caregivers at the Fort Worth VA Clinic.

[…]

Biden will call on Congress to send him a bill that protects veterans who face health consequences after burn pit exposure. The House last week passed a bill that would provide VA health care to millions of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who meet that criteria.

Yet, it’s what Biden said about Reps. Colin Allred (D-TX), Marc Veasey (D-TX), and Jake Ellzey (R-TX) is rather…problematic. Biden said that two of the congressmen, Veasey and Allred, look like they can play basketball; both men are black. He added that Congressman Ellzey looks like a dude who would bomb you. I’m not kidding.

The line about Ellzey presumably refers to his service as a Navy fighter pilot in Afghanistan and Iraq. Allred did play in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans from 2006-2010. According to Wikipedia, Veasey “graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications.” In any case, as one wag tweeted today, “Thank you for playing today’s game of ‘What if Trump said it?’”

BIDEN SAYS NO, BUT YES: It’s happening: Poland to send MiG-29 fighters to U.S. for Ukrainian transfer in return for F-16s; Update: U.S. rejects. “Poland isn’t transferring any jets to Ukraine. It’s transferring them to the United States, at one of its bases in Germany. The United States will then transfer the jets to the Ukrainians, who’ll presumably travel to Rammstein and fly the jets back to Ukraine themselves.”

Plus: “Relatedly, do we think the Poles ever would have agreed to this deal if the Russian military hadn’t underperformed over the past two weeks? I linked this Times story earlier about eastern European powers viewing Russia’s military power in a new light as the country continues to struggle in battle against Ukraine. Maybe the Poles have concluded that a very risky provocation like sending a fleet of fighter jets to a country under Russian invasion isn’t as risky as it was a week ago. If Russia can’t subdue the Ukrainians, how will it subdue the Ukrainians plus a NATO-backed Poland?”

If the United States is [energy independent] … then we don’t beg people in the Middle East or Russia to help us. If the oil price [is] moderate, the economies in the West thrive, and Vladimir Putin doesn’t have financial reserves that can subsidize as an invasion.

Just think of the lead-up to [the invasion]. In January, we had these hackers from Russia [going] … after the Colonial Pipeline in the United States. They took out a million barrels a day, and that was after we had been cutting back. …  [Then] we had the Senate Democrats who [sic] wrote a veto to sanction the Nord Stream Pipeline. Energy is a subtext of all of the preliminaries up to this.

And I think in retrospect, we’re going to grow up. We’re going to look back at AOC’s insane efforts and people in the Squad in the hard left to shut down voluntarily almost 3 million barrels a day of oil production. … [T]hat results in … real deaths — people die when you do that, and they have to realize that — it’s crazy.

Even before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, left-leaning Axios noted: Squad politics backfire as Democrats struggle with party image.

As Glenn has joked, getting Omar, AOC and the rest of “the Squad” elected was Roger Stone’s last and greatest political dirty trick.
