After a commercial break, Farah Griffin grew something of a spine and tried to confront Hostin on her vile comments. “Nikki Haley’s gone by Nikki since she was a child. It’s documented in high school. I wouldn’t be shocked that as someone, an Indian woman growing up in South Carolina at that she actually did to avoid prejudice,” she argued.
Adding: “So, I just want to be careful about critiquing her for going by the name she’s always gone by.”
Hostin responded by cranking up the racism and apparently targeting Haley’s lighter skin tone. “Yeah, there were some of us that can be chameleons and decide not to embrace our ethnicity so that we can pass [as white],” she chided.
While Farah Griffin floundered in her retort, Haines stepped up and shot back: “Sunny! You go by a different name!”
That’s right! Sunny’s real name is Asunción Cummings Hostin. And according to her, she doesn’t use that name because Americans are too stupid to pronounce it correctly. “Because most Americans can’t pronounce Asunción because of the under-education in our country,” she sneered.
Haley herself responded:
As Spencer Brown adds at Townhall, “Strange how Hostin thought attacking Nikki Haley as some kind of race traitor for her name would fly when she does… exactly the same thing. Liberals, thy name is hypocrisy.”

(SOME) HILL GOPERS THROW DOWN SPENDING GAUNTLET: Conservatives in the Senate and House are challenging fellow Republicans and Democrats to pass a “clean” congressional resolution (CR) that keeps the government funded through the end of the year.
It’s a VIP issue because any CR that comes up during the “lame duck” session after the election but before the 118th Congress convenes will provide opportunities for the White House, Congressional Democrats and opportunistic Republicans to boost spending and insert new policy directives.

YESTERDAY, I linked a story about stores getting rid of self-checkout because of customers not paying. Then Helen found me a story containing this explanation of why some people do that: “Others believe their actions are justified because they are forced to do the work of a checkout attendant.”
Plus: “Solutions to reduce theft and cheating at self-service checkouts include a simple login screen at the start of every self-checkout system’s sequence, where the shopper must agree to be honest and not cheat the system – research suggests this could play into the mind’s of the human psyche.”
Actually, that approach was based on fraudulent data, long-discredited but not dead.
More: “Ariely’s 2012 paper found that people were more honest when they signed a promise to be honest at the beginning of a transaction than when they signed the same promise at the end. The idea was that the early exposure to the importance of honesty set the tone. The Obama administration’s Social and Behavioral Sciences Team recommended this approach to the government. It seemed like a cheap and easy way of promoting good behavior. The only problem is, it’s not true. Other scientists found that his work couldn’t be replicated. And a deep dive into the data Ariely used determined that it couldn’t possibly be correct. Even Ariely agrees that the criticisms are ‘damning’ and ‘clear beyond doubt.'”
My own prediction is that people who are already resentful of being made to do the work of an employee for no pay will find such a smarmy involuntary “pledge” an encouragement to larceny.
A SHAREHOLDER SUIT THAT COULD GET VERY INTERESTING: National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR) owns stock in Starbucks. Folks at NCPPR think Starbucks is decreasing the value of that investment by promulgating a host corporate programs that discriminate on the basis of race.
“The policies—all of which are advertised on the coffee giant’s website—include $1.5 billion set aside for ‘diverse suppliers’ and a compensation scheme that ties executive pay to ‘BIPOC representation’ at the company, for which Starbucks has set numerical targets. The corporation also runs a ‘Leadership Accelerator Program’ that is available only to minority employees, as well as a program that reserves 15 percent of Starbucks’s advertising budget for minority-owned media companies,” according to The Washington Free Beacon’s Aaron Silbarium.
The reason this could get really interesting is NCPPR also owns stock in McDonald’s and JP Morgan, and the conservative nonprofit has already warned them about their woke programs. Keep an eye on this one.

WHITE HOUSE SAYS COVID-19 POLICY UNCHANGED DESPITE WHAT PRESIDENT BIDEN SAID ON 60 MINUTES:
As Twitchy reported, President Joe Biden was interviewed by Scott Pelley for Sunday night’s edition of “60 Minutes,” and he said that U.S. men and women would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion. After the interview, however, the White House said that its Taiwan policy had not changed. Biden also declared that the COVID-19 pandemic “is over,” although that would scuttle his loophole allowing student loan cancellation because of the emergency imposed by the pandemic.
As with the Taiwan comments, the White House is walking back the “pandemic is over” talk, saying that the White House’s policy remains unchanged and emergency orders are still in effect.
As Jim Treacher asks, who’s running the show inside the “Biden” White House? “It sure isn’t Kamala. And Jill — excuse me, Doctor Jill — is just barely more lucid than her husband. Who’s the boss of that house? Ron Klain? Susan Rice? Ex-PFC Wintergreen? What the hell is going on?”

SOCIALISM, JEWISH ‘HIGH HOLIDAYS’ DON’T MIX: Jews worldwide will begin as the sun sets September 25 celebrating the most important holidays on their calendars, with the celebrations bookended by Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur.
Given the generally leftward tilt of many American Jews, it is easy to miss the fundamental contradictions between socialism and the Jewish faith. Jeff Dunetz of The Lid notes that:
“During the High Holidays, Jews are working toward becoming better people via personal introspection and the sacred texts provided by our maker. Socialism directs people to become better people via serving the government.”
That’s just the most obvious contradiction, Dunetz offers much more in an essay from which Jews and Gentiles alike would greatly benefit.
