COLORADO: Democrat Michael Bennet virtually tied with GOP challenger Joe O’Dea in Colorado Senate race. “The survey, conducted for the Republican Attorney General’s Association, showed Bennet up over O’Dea 48% to 47%, with 5% undecided. O’Dea, the wealthy owner of a construction company, is a prized Republican candidate who has positioned himself as a centrist in a bid to oust Bennet, 57, in Colorado, a blue state President Joe Biden won by double digits nearly two years ago.”

To be fair, calling Bennet an empty suit would be a slander against empty suits.

DON’T GET COCKY: The Latest Hispanic Trend Is Not Good for Democrats. “For Catholic Americans, there may be some lamentations over the diaspora happening in the Hispanic community. They’re leaving for Protestant denominations reportedly because they feel less confined in these churches, which also have a stronger sense of community. Younger Hispanics are also flocking to the Protestant churches, whose surge is also driven by Latinos converting fellow Latinos.”

LAUGHING WOLF: Into The Light: Mikhail Gorbachev. “I noted yesterday that I have mixed emotions on the passing of Gorbachev. That is being polite. The man was the enemy, on more than one level. Yet, I have come to have respect for the man, for reasons and because Boss had respect for him.”

SHUT UP, THEY EXPLAINED: Biden’s White House Colluded With Big Tech To Gag Covid Dissenters Like Alex Berenson.

Documents Berenson obtained during the discovery phase of the lawsuit he filed against Twitter illustrate how the government actively works to shut down free speech on issues of public interest. Berenson’s criticisms of the Covid vaccines, which he claimed were ineffective and possibly harmful, came exactly at the time when the federal government, as well as many states and cities, were using every available coercive means at their disposal to force Americans to take them. As such, his speech was deemed extremist and needed to be suppressed to save lives during the pandemic.

While President Biden blithely labels his political opponents as “semi-fascists,” it is he who has been playing the part of a fascist by using powerful corporations to stifle opposition. And thus, Berenson’s Twitter ban must be acknowledged as a rank injustice.

At the time of his ban, support for vaccine mandates had become both official public health policy and a sign of left-wing virtue. Berenson’s journalism was thusly treated as dissident advocacy and considered not merely irresponsible but beyond the pale.

There’s no more pretending that the social media giants don’t act as arms of the federal government.

YOU’RE GONNA NEED A MUCH BIGGER BLOG: Reasons Never to Vote Democrat Again, Vol. II: The Big, Blue Crime Wave. “Chicago’s weekly “Festival of Lead” has resulted in 2,422 people shot thus far this year. A person is shot every two hours, 24 minutes, and someone is murdered every 12 hours, 23 minutes in the Windy City.”

CIVIL RIGHTS UPDATE: Federal Judge Blocks Colorado County’s ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban, Other Localities Agree to Halt Enforcement.

U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney, a Biden appointee, issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) on Tuesday against Boulder County. It stops enforcement of the county’s ban on the manufacture and sale of assault weapons, which include the popular AR-15, and ammunition magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds.

“On this admittedly limited record and with a liberal analysis of this factor, the Court finds that Plaintiffs establish a substantial likelihood of success on the merits,” Judge Sweeney wrote, citing the Supreme Court’s recent decision in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen as justification for her analysis.

The TRO order marks the second indication of early success for gun rights advocates in the state since the Supreme Court handed down its landmark gun carry decision in June. Last month, an Obama-appointed District Court judge issued a TRO against the Town of Superior to block it from enforcing a similar ban following a lawsuit from the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners (RMGO).

The group subsequently filed suits against the Cities of Boulder and Louisville, as well as Boulder County, to challenge similar laws passed as a collaborative effort by the localities. The continued success of gun-rights advocates in these suits could deter future efforts to enact stringent gun control at the local level in Colorado. The ruling also shows the new Bruen standard of review for gun suits may be bad news for other assault weapons bans across the country.

I’d add, “More like this, please,” but it seems there’s already more on the way.
