KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Team Trump Packed a Month’s Worth of Work Into Its First 2 ½ Days. “It sure is weird having a president who shows up to work every day and can stay awake past 4 PM, isn’t it? I’m not going to double check this, but I think that Joe Biden had taken three vacations by Wednesday of his first week in office.”
BEHIND THE CURVE: Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins defends DEI.
Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins defended DEI initiatives during an Axios interview on Wednesday in Davos, Switzerland.
Why it matters: Robbins also serves as chair of the Business Roundtable, one of America’s most powerful corporate trade organizations.
The big picture: Corporate DEI has become a political flashpoint, with President Trump on Tuesday encouraging the private sector to eliminate such programs. He did so in an executive order that dismantled DEI policies at federal government agencies and set the stage for DEI-focused government employees to be laid off.
What Robbins said: “I think the pendulum swings a little wide in both directions. And for us, it’s about finding the equilibrium … You cannot argue with the fact that a diverse workforce is better. There’s too much business value …”
Business value, eh? Over the last five years, shares in Cisco have underperformed the S&P, with an overall return of 42%. The S&P 500 grew 82% in that same period.

WELL, IT IS: It’s Morning in America… Again
I THINK THIS HEADLINE’S SUPPOSED TO MAKE ME FEEL BAD. IT’S NOT WORKING. Trump’s Arrival Brightens U.S. Outlook, Darkens Everyone Else’s: The bankers, government officials and CEOs at Davos see his deregulatory, energy and tariff policies sucking investment from other regions and hurting their exports. All they have to do is emulate us — and Argentina! Some are beginning to grasp this:
Many at Davos blamed Europe’s dismal outlook on the failures of its own leaders, not on Trump.
European scientists are making progress on technologies that use genetically engineered microbes to solve any number of problems, said Kasim Kutay, the chief executive of Novo Holdings, which manages the assets and wealth of the foundation that controls Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk.
It takes seven to eight years, however, to get such a product approved by European regulators, compared with two to three in the U.S., he said: “A lot of that innovation is happening in Europe, but the companies ultimately seek funding in the U.S.”
How about that?
WHEN THE TRAGEDY OF GUN CONTROL DESCENDS INTO FARCE: Tougher checks on knife sales fast-tracked after Southport attack.
People trying to buy knives online will face tougher measures to prove their age under new restrictions being brought forward in the wake of the Southport knife attack.
Axel Rudakubana, who has admitted murdering three young girls last July, bought a knife from Amazon when he was just 17, despite existing laws which prohibit the sale of most knives to under-18s.
Online retailers will be forced to ask anyone buying a knife for two types of identification under government plans, with buyers asked to submit an identity document, such as a passport, and record a live video to prove their age.
Amazon has said it takes its “responsibility around the sale of all age-restricted items – including bladed products – extremely seriously” and has launched an investigation.
In an opinion piece for The Sun newspaper, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer wrote that it “remains shockingly easy for our children to get their hands on deadly knives”.
“The lessons of this case could not be clearer,” he said.
“Time and again, as a child, the Southport murderer carried knives. Time and again, he showed clear intent to use them.
Huh, you think maybe there’s more to that last part than to Britain’s failed attempts at knife control?
YES, THE NONPROFIT WORLD NEEDS MORE SUPERVISION. IT’S CURRENTLY A CESSPIT OF SHADOW GOVERNMENT, SLUSH FUNDS, AND MONEY LAUNDRIES.
Everything Donald Trump is dismantling will be parked at a bunch of communist 501c3’s until the next Democrat President, when it will be quickly restored to government.
The Trump admin MUST go after the left wing non profits to secure long term victories. Break them. Strike.
