DISPATCHES FROM WEIMAR AMERICA: “What a Creep,” David Strom writes:

By now, everybody with an ounce of sense knows that Hollywood is filled with child molesters and degenerates.

The stories of sexual abuse are legion and horrifying. Yesterday I was reading about an executive at Nickelodeon who was a creepy pedo, and today’s example is former NBCUniversal executive Mike Sington, who has displayed a creepy obsession with Barron Trump, celebrating the fact that the former president’s son is now 18 and “fair game.”

* * * * * * * *

Perhaps the reason can be found in another tweet, in which Sington expresses how he hopes that Barron Trump, still a teen child, will turn out to be gay. This was about a 14-year-old boy.

Sington deleted his tweet about Barron’s new availability to older gay men after he was absolutely ripped on Twitter, but given his clear obsession with Barron Trump and Hollywood’s collective shrug, our opinion that the city is filled with pedophiles lusting after young boys, in particular, is confirmed once again.

The response from the MSM? Republicans pounce!

Evergreen:

FOUR YEARS AGO TODAY: Boris Johnson orders UK lockdown to be enforced by police.

Boris Johnson will order police to enforce a strict coronavirus lockdown, with a ban on gatherings of more than two people and strict limits on exercise, as he told the British public: “You must stay at home.”

The prime minister ratcheted up Britain’s response with an address to the nation on Monday evening, warning that people would only be allowed outside to buy food or medication, exercise alone once a day, or to travel to work if absolutely necessary.

All non-essential shops will close with immediate effect, as will playgrounds and libraries, he said in the address from Downing Street.

After days of being accused of sending mixed messages about what the public should do, Johnson significantly escalated his language as he urged people to comply with the more stringent measures.

“You should not be meeting friends. If your friends ask you to meet, you should say no. You should not be meeting family members who do not live in your home. You should not be going shopping except for essentials like food and medicine – and you should do this as little as you can,” he said.

“If you don’t follow the rules, the police will have the powers to enforce them, including through fines and dispersing gatherings.”

“You should not be meeting friends. If your friends ask you to meet, you should say no.” Some found that order rather difficult to follow, not least of whom was “Professor Lockdown” himself: What Neil Ferguson’s booty call tells us about modern politics.

The conspiratorial left, convinced the world is run by secret cabals of bankers and cigar-chomping media moguls, thinks the Neil Ferguson story is a ‘dead cat’. In other words, they think the Daily Telegraph – Evil Tory Rag – revealed that Ferguson carried on bonking his mistress in defiance of a lockdown that he himself bears much responsibility for in order to distract attention from Britain overtaking Italy with the highest Covid death toll in Europe. A ‘dead cat’ strategy is when a sensationalist story is introduced to the mix to divert attention from a far more serious political crisis. Ferguson’s sexual antics are the Tory regime’s dead cat to Britain’s corona death toll, apparently.

This sums up the political infantilism of the left. It is actually incredibly important news that Ferguson, the Imperial College modeller who said it was possible 500,000 Brits would die if we didn’t lock down, defied the lockdown. It deserves the frontpage treatment it is getting today. For Ferguson’s booty call with his married lover actually reveals a great deal about the 21st-century elites and how they view their relationship with the masses. It’s one rule for them and another for us. They can carry on enjoying sneaky freedoms because their lives and jobs are important; we can’t because we are mere little people, whose silly work lives can casually be disrupted, whose love lives can be turned upside down, and whose families can be ripped apart. The Ferguson affair provides an illuminating insight into the new elitism.

As does the person with whom Ferguson hooked up with on said booty call:

On at least two occasions, Antonia Staats, 38, traveled across London from her home in the south of the capital to spend time with the government scientist, nicknamed Professor Lockdown,” reported the Telegraph.

Staats, we later learn, lives with her husband and two children in a £1.9 million home in south London. She’s a “left-wing campaigner” who is reportedly in an open marriage. According to the Telegraph, “She has told friends about her relationship with Prof Ferguson, but does not believe their actions to be hypocritical because she considers the households to be one.”

Ah yes, the old our-households-are-one-because-I’m-in-an-open-marriage argument. Never mind that a week before Ferguson and Staats’ first meeting, Britain’s Health Secretary had said even couples not living together must stay apart during the lockdown.

One rule for the poor people, another rule for us elites. And they wonder how they got Brexit.

But “Professor Lockdown” and his paramour weren’t the only high-ranking brits to violate Boris Johnson’s strict lockdown orders. There was also some chap called…Boris Johnson: U.K. “Partygate” probe reveals details of illegal, booze-fueled parties at PM Boris Johnson’s house during COVID lockdown.

Some of the 16 events under investigation were held at 10 Downing Street — Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s official home and office — and the Cabinet Office, and should not have been allowed to take place, investigator Sue Gray concluded in her 37-page report, adding that “other events should not have been allowed to develop as they did.”

In April, Johnson was for attending his birthday party, making him the first British prime minister ever found to have broken the law while in office.

“What took place at many of these gatherings and the way in which they developed was not in line with COVID guidance at the time,” Gray said.

The report included 10 redacted photographs, including four that show Johnson himself attending a birthday party in his honor in June 2020, and four others that show him raising a glass at another event. Both events were held at his Downing Street office.

Or to put it another way: Boris Johnson Missed His Churchill Moment. The pandemic was Boris’s biggest test. He failed.

The entire world had surrendered to the People’s Republic of China, adopting its totalitarian disease-control strategy, and unlike France or Poland in World War II, we surrendered without a shot being fired. If any man in the world was well-positioned to stand against this, it was the garrulous British renegade, Boris Johnson. Instead, the United Kingdom became a police state.

Well, not the entire world: How Sweden proved the world wrong about lockdowns: The evidence is clear: authoritarian restrictions did not save more lives.

STANDING UP AGAINST DEI AND ESG: NCLA Asks en Banc Fifth Circuit to Vacate Legally Defective Nasdaq Board Diversity Rules.

he New Civil Liberties Alliance has filed an opening brief in National Center for Public Policy Research v. SEC urging the en banc U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to set aside Nasdaq’s unconstitutional “Board Diversity Rules,” which SEC promulgated without statutory authority. These Rules impose gender, race and sexual orientation quotas on corporate board membership for Nasdaq-listed companies. Further, the Rules compel companies that fail to meet their board seat quotas to explain why or face involuntary delisting from the stock exchange. Under a related rule, SEC will furnish lists of quota-satisfying names to companies unable to meet such quotas on their own. A Fifth Circuit panel had upheld the Board Diversity Rules, but the en banc court granted NCLA’s request to rehear the case. The 1934 Securities and Exchange Act limits SEC’s regulatory role to ensuring fair and honest markets, investor protection, orderly and efficient markets, and facilitating capital formation. SEC cannot venture outside of those statutory guardrails as it did here.

Reminder/disclosure: I’m on the NCLA’s advisory board.

CANDACE OWENS LEAVES THE DAILY WIRE AFTER CLASHING WITH BOSS BEN SHAPIRO OVER ISRAEL HAMAS WAR:

Candace Owens and The Daily Wire have parted ways after weeks of tension with her co-founder Ben Shapiro over the Israel-Hamas war and her promotion of various conspiracy theories.

‘Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their relationship,’ co-founder and CEO Jeremy Boreing posted on X Friday morning.

Owens, 34, reacted to the news saying, ‘The rumors are true — I am finally free.’

She also shared her personal website for those who want to support her work and teased ‘many announcements in the weeks to come,’ saying she will bring back her show on YouTube after a brief hiatus.

It comes after weeks of scandals surrounding the controversial conservative, who recently has launched a campaign claiming French first lady Brigitte Macron is transgender.

As “Cockburn” adds at Spectator World:

The separation comes shortly after Owens said she’d “stake my entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man,” making her exit a big win for trans rights. As they say en Francequand on vient pour la reine, il ne faut pas la manquer.

Other Owens highlights of her time at the Wire include her recent questions about a “small ring of specific people who are using the fact that they are Jewish to shield themselves from any criticism”; her spat with Wire founder Ben Shapiro over his defense of Israel; her attempts to explain away her pal Kanye West’s “death con 3 on Jewish people comment” — “If you are an honest person, you did not think this tweet was antisemitic”; donning a “White Lives Matter” shirt with West at his Paris fashion show, and her fireside chat with accused rapist and sex trafficker Andrew Tate.

Owens will doubtless be missed… before starting her own X show in the near future.

At Commentary, in an article written before the split was official, Christine Rosen’s piece was headlined, “The Hateful Candace Owens:”

The Trump era has created a conundrum on the right. While support for Israel and a general philo-Semitism remain enduring features of the right in the U.S., some of the loudest voices in right-leaning new media now oppose Israel and are leaning into outright anti-Semitism. They take the understandable belief that mainstream culture and media are hostile to Christianity and traditional conservative values and twist it into a new iteration of classic Christian anti-Semitism—all while claiming to be among the victimized.

This persecution complex can be applied to a range of issues, and it flatters Owens’s own sense of importance in the culture. As Owens recently posted on X, “Something is going on with Justin Bieber and it has everything to do with him being a Christian in demonic Hollywood. If you aren’t paying attention yet—the media has recently launched a full scale attack on Christianity. And therefore me.” This brings attention not to the travails of Justin Bieber or to Christians but to Owens’s favorite subject: herself.

It’s a clever posture. Criticize her or fire her, and you’re persecuting all Christians; by expressing outrage at her anti-Semitism, you’re ensuring the further abuse of Christians like her who are “just asking questions.” Her self-described brand is that she is “the most controversial black woman in America.” The reality? Her toxic mix of combative and ignorant extremism should have no place in the conservative movement.

In February, Robert Spencer at a story at PJM headlined: Candace Owens: Yes, the Nazis Burned Books, but They Were Bad Books.

The Jerusalem Post reported Sunday that in her show on psychology, Owens targeted not only Sigmund Freud “and the controversial 20th-century researcher, John Money, but also Magnus Hirschfeld, the Weimar-era German-Jewish sexologist whose work was burned by Nazi brownshirts.” Owens “asserted that all three men were gay (exclusively using the term ‘homosexual’ throughout her monologue) and that they had a suspicious interest in the sexuality of children.” What’s more, she “suggested that Hirschfeld showed a perverse interest in the sex lives of colonized Africans.” Hirschfeld, Owens asserted, “was the guy who actually first coined the term “transsexual.”

The National Socialists, however, fought back against Hirschfeld’s baneful influence in their own sweet way. “I was shocked,” Owens declared, “that I never learned that the brownshirts— the student activists that went around burning a bunch of books — were burning books that they deemed to be Marxist and that they deemed to be overtly sexual,” including Hirschfeld’s books and related works at his Institute for Sexual Studies.

Hang on a minute, Candace. The brownshirts were “student activists”? That’s an awfully gentle term for the uniformed thugs the National Socialists called Storm Troopers, who brawled in the streets with foes of Hitler and physically menaced those who dared to enunciate their dissent too loudly. Although they fought with the Marxists, they were more like today’s Antifa than anything else. In “The Coming of the Third Reich,” historian Richard J. Evans explains how, in the early days of National Socialist Germany, Stormtroopers (Brownshirts) “organized campaigns against unwanted professors in the local newspapers [and] staged mass disruptions of their lectures.”

To express dissent from National Socialist positions became a matter of taking one’s life into one’s hands. The idea of people of opposing viewpoints airing their disagreements in a civil and mutually respectful manner was gone. One was a National Socialist, or one remained silent and fearful. “Activists.” Yeah.

Flashback to 2019: Throwing disabled people, leftists, and Jews in camps? Sure, fine, whatever, but don’t you dare invade Poland.

#COMMISSIONEARNED

Humanity has colonized the solar system, but crime still doesn’t pay. David Carter is one of the most decorated agents in the Interplanetary Police Forces, but for the last two years, he’s turned reckless, throwing himself into his work—or into the path of a criminal’s bolt pistol. As a specialist in deception analysis and interrogation, Veronique de Tournay has been right where she wants to be: a profiler in the major cases bureau, Division 7.

Unfortunately, the director has reassigned her to Special Agent Carter, and neither of them are happy about it. After they stop a devastating attack on Mars, meant to kill thousands and cripple interplanetary travel, Carter and de Tournay discover evidence of other subversive attacks in the system. With time running out, the reluctant partners may be the only ones standing in the way of a conspiracy that stretches all the way from Luna to the Saturn Space Station.

LONDON CALLING: ERI’s newest free speech weekend update features come concerning free speech news from abroad and, for the first time ever, commentary on new First Amendment jurisprudence from FIRE’s very own general counsel, Ronnie London.

GREAT BRITAIN NEEDS A FIRST AMENDMENT. HECK, EVERY COUNTRY DOES:  Shootin’ Time.

IF THEY GET PAID BY THE GOVERNMENT, AT LEAST THEY’LL BE HONEST PRESSTITUTES:  A new contender for brain-dead idea of the year.

To be fair, it’s stupid to service the Democrats and expect the public to pay them for it. The Dems, Junta  already screwed us. And no one pays us. (Or even brings lube!)
