EXACTLY:

JAMES LILEKS, AN ACTUAL MIDWESTERN DAD, LOOKS AT TIM WALZ: America’s Midwestern Dad?

The stories in the news talk about Walz’s “big dad energy!” Yay patriarchy, apparently. His legions of new fans describe his grounded Midwestern appeal, sensible and practical like the rest of the denizens of the great flat lands. The stories about his days as a high school teacher paint a picture of a man whose students liked him, a lot, and how he was a great teacher. No reason to doubt that.

And it doesn’t mean anything, anyway. I loved my teachers, too, but then years later you see their name attached to a letter in the paper yelling at Ronnie Raygun for being mean to the Sandinistas. Ohhhhkay well, I’ll just remember the good times, when he was failing me at chemistry.

It’s there to distract you from the fact that he’s basically a commie.

MAKE THEM PAY: The Legal Backlash to DEI Training. “It turns out that putting Robin DiAngelo and Ibram X. Kendi in charge of the nation’s collective HR programs hasn’t gone smoothly in all cases. Who would have guessed? Today the Washington Post has a story about the legal backlash that ubiquitous anti-racism training has created. There are at least 59 current lawsuits brought against these training programs by people who say they felt discriminated against.

A good start.

#JOURNALISM:

OPEN THREAD: Happy Friday.

ED MORRISSEY: Could the media already have tired of The Silence of the Kams? “Today, however, the leader of the Protection Racket Media signaled their curiosity — at least — about what Harris plans to do if she wins the election. Following up on a Trump tax-cut plan that they conceded could make a difference in the election, the New York Times wondered where Harris’ economic plan might be … and when voters can see it. Their headline wasn’t exactly subtle about it, either.”

So if you think Kamala needs policies to campaign you’d do this. But if you think she’s going to lose, you might also do this because you need eyeballs and ears and the Basement Campaign is boring.
